@marionberry: ya I'm down with that! I've done the major things for the nursery but the actual decorating I'm stalling on.
@Astro Bee: sounds like a great combo! I love clown fish!
@SunshineMcC: I've signed up for a class but it doesn't start until feb. They suggested March but I felt like that was too late and would stress me out.
@loki: our nursery is light mint too! We went with lighter mint from sherwin Williams. It's a beautiful colour!
pear / 1787 posts
@Banana330: oh i'll have to look that up. i was leaning towards cool mint by benjamin moore but it's so hard! i don't want it to be overwhelming. i just adore mint. we will have pink ivory & gold accents... preeeetty much the same colour scheme as my wedding haha.
ok ya just googled, that colour is PERFECT

@Astro Bee: OUCH! I am sorry you've had so much pain. DH convinced me to buy a Snoogle last week and it's helped me while I sleep.
@marionberry: I would post to a nursery thread! We are renting our house so we can't paint, but we are doing navy, gray, white, and pops of orange. The walls are white so we are incorporating colors elsewhere. I had two weeks off for the holidays so I wanted to make the most of it and get as much done as possible.
@loki: We have our name picked out and most people we know know the name. I'm not super secretive about it IRL.
I have my maternity pre-admission appointment with the hospital this morning and then my glucose test right afterwards. A busy morning with lots to knock out! Then tomorrow we have an all day class at the hospital. It's a preparation for childbirth class and a hospital tour, so I'm pretty excited!

@Mrs.Pinecone316: I am not having a shower this time. I wouldn't have been opposed to a sprinkle if someone wanted to throw me one, but no one has offered. We are going to do a Sip 'n See after she is born. Last time I had my shower at 32 weeks and it was perfect. Still plenty of time to get anything I didn't get at the shower.
@Boopers: So technically the nursery is done. But that's just because we are using the same nursery, decor and all, for this baby. Now how is Reagan's big girl room coming? Yeah...we should probably start on that. The plan is to paint it next weekend. My goal is to have it done by the end of January so we can start introducing Reagan to it before baby comes.
@Astro Bee: Sounds like a pretty nursery!
@SunshineMcC: We took one birthing class. It was an all day class that had a short section on both breastfeeding and infant care. It was through my midwives office; we didn't take any classes from the hospital. DH learned a lot. Although since we ended up with a c-section he thought it was a waste in hindsight. Oh well.
@marionberry: I love the nursery thread idea. Although, I may use it as motivation to post pics of Reagan's big girl room. And to get the nursery in pretty picture shape!
@loki: We've been decided on a name for awhile. I am so glad because even the few weeks we spent deciding on a middle name were kinda stressful. Pretty sure I've posted it before but baby girl's name is Ryan Elizabeth.
nectarine / 2317 posts
@loki: this is the lighter mint in natural light. It's not too monty or overpowering!
pear / 1787 posts
@Boopers: haha ya i'm so bad about being secretive so i keep telling people our short list. i always regret it though. i'm so jealous you have something picked, we are really struggling.
@NeekieRose: loooove ryan. i didn't know you were going with elizabeth for her middle name but that is amazing. elizabeth is actually my legal first name (though i go by something else) and it's my mom's name so it is a top contender for middle name for our little one too if only we could choose a first name, ugh.

I announced on our bump thread but we are naming DD2 Sydney Grace. I think Jessie Lynn and Sydney Grace go nicely together and bonus that DH picked Jessie's name and I ended up picking Sydney's!
I'd love a nursery thread. I have 2 rooms to post after all . We just have a name decal to switch out in what will be Sydney's room.
We will be doing coral and gold IN Jessie's new room. Our walls are beige/tan so I think we are going to paint a wide coral stripe all the way around the room. My dad can make us some wall decals so I'm getting him to make us so gold polka dots for an accent wall and gold pinstripes to go above and below the coral stripe. Her crib is white so we will stick with that as far as other furniture goes and I haven't decided on curtains yet. I'm making cleaning out that room, painting it and getting her in there my main priorities so it may not be complete until she is actually living in it.

@Mrs. Sunshine: oh yes i knew about sydney grace! love it!!! and i loooove coral & gold together, sounds beautiful. i ordered gold polka dot decals but i wish i had someone to make them for me! ha.

@loki: my dad started a sign and t-shirt company when I was like 12 and it's basically benefitted me for forever lol

@loki: ooh the online class is a good idea too so you can both participate. We have a few ideas in names but are waiting until he is born to decide. I hope we're not one if those couples who leave the hospital with no name for baby!
@loki: love your color scheme! Can't wait to see progress!
@Boopers: sounds like an exciting baby weekend! Have fun!
@Mrs. Sunshine: your color schemes sound so pretty! Love the idea of gold polka dots!!
@marionberry: love the idea of a nursery board! Glad to hear your DH got things out of the class, despite his knowledge. I'm sure once DH goes he'll be glad!
So I think I had a BH contraction last night! I got up around 1:30 to go to the bathroom and had this weird cramping in my left side, then my whole belly was rock hard for a couple minutes! It was a bit weird and initially freaked me out but once I realized what it was I was gone. DH was awake too and couldn't believe how hard my belly was. Does that sound like a contraction?
nectarine / 2317 posts
@Mrs. Sunshine: nice I love the name!
@SunshineMcC: ya I had a midwife appointment today and I've been getting them almost daily for a few weeks. As long as they are super painful it's just BH preparing your uterus.
@loki: I've been just pretending we don't have names yet, easier than saying we do but don't want to tell you! It's the first thing people ask when I tell them it's a girl.
pear / 1787 posts
@SunshineMcC: ya i think we'll have to wait until she's born. i hope i have one of those "she just looks like a ______!" moments... but right now i can't see it happening.
@Banana330: ya being vague is hard. even if i just say 'we have a list but we can't decide' people are so annoying and press us on it. family on boxing day was giving us suggestions and i just wanted to roll my eyes at all of them.
you guys are good... can you please name my baby? kthx.

Nursery board is up! I'll try to take a picture of our pretty bland nursery shortly.
hostess / cantaloupe / 6486 posts
@loki: I HATE suggests. I don't know why, I know people are just trying to help. My MIL want us to name her Zendaya (pretty but no) and my grandma want due to name her Pepper (again, not a bad name but really really not for us). I just gave people blank stares when they tried to help us name her lol

@Mrs. Sunshine: My husband's one aunt kept suggesting Dallas... Just totally not my style. And his cousin's girlfriend was being OBNOXIOUS. people would suggest things that happened to be on our list (unknowingly) and she would make rude comments about them. she also gave me a huge lecture about dyeing her hair and WOULD NOT stop talking about it even after i explained that i had done my research and was comfortable continuing to get highlights (2 weeks ago for the first time since July). People are so annoying.

Ours has had a name since our first attempts. It will be emily grace.
No nursery for us. She will sleep in our room. Right now we have a family bed (baby will not cobed because brother is there and that is not safe).
We may also be moving right around the birth/ first of the summer so we aren't working through boxes too fast.
pear / 1787 posts
@brownie: Emily Grace is beautiful!
You are brave to take on a move right around baby time, good for you!

@loki: we have to my husband hates his job and the place. So we have to do something different.
pear / 1787 posts
@brownie: oh no, sorry to hear he's unhappy. well it'll be nice to get that over with and get settled with baby! will you be moving far away?
grapefruit / 4110 posts
@loki: we don't know. We want to move to family or close friends. Mostly it depends on where he can get a job. We moved here a year ago and may move back to where we were.

So much going on in the last couple of days...
@loki: my ribs, mostly on the left side, have been feeling like they are stretching out and it hurts so bad especially after eating!
As for names we have a short list but we are completely undecided as to top contenders. I have a favorite DH vetoed and vice versa so I'm not setting my heart on anything just yet. We got some interesting suggestions from family over Christmas and it got really difficult to smile and say we'd consider it!

Just got home from the glucose test. The drink was not bad at all! I chose lime and it tasted just a bit sweeter than a Sprite. I don't feel too badly now either, but we will see how I feel in the next few hours. I should hopefully get the results by sometime next week.
My next appointment is in three weeks and then I go every two weeks after that! We are getting closer and closer!
apricot / 346 posts
@Boopers: I'm currently sitting waiting for my blood draw. I had the orange, but it was cold so not horrible. Im feeling okay, but baby has been moving quite a bit while I wait!
I think it being 2015 now has me feeling like it's so close to baby time!
pomegranate / 3658 posts
@SunshineMcC: We're doing a 12-week Bradley method class, which is pretty intense (2.5 hours per class). It covers breastfeeding and infant care and a LOT of prep for childbirth. They've got me doing a ton of daily exercises to prepare my body for birth, as well as relaxation exercises, and eating more protein too.
@Mrs.Pinecone316: I will be 34.5 weeks at my shower. I have been asked to promise that I won't be in labor. I hope not! We're definitely waiting to see what people gift us before we start buying anything, but I think there will be plenty of time for that after the shower.
@loki: Names, ugh! We have a short list and I keep hoping some divine inspiration will come help us decide among the remaining options, but mostly I just worry a lot about the importance of picking the perfect name. We're keeping 100% secret about the whole thing, and people have respected that. At the moment, there are two frontrunners, and I slightly prefer one while DH slightly prefers the other one. I think we have settled on a middle name, but sometimes I have second thoughts. I think naming is the hardest part.
hostess / cantaloupe / 6486 posts
@brownie: oh baby will be in our room as well! I get out of bed only if it's dire lol but with Jessie I didn't enjoy Co bedding. She was in her own room by 7 months and I'd like to move Jess before Sydney is here so it doesn't make her mad at her sister. Beautiful name by the way.

@SunshineMcC: I had what I think are are couple of BH contractions over the last week or so, but they've only lasted maybe 5-10 seconds. I'd describe them as a sudden hardening of the uterus, but no discomfort. It really just feels like I'm flexing, but totally involuntarily.
After 2+ weeks of trying to book an appt for a 3D ultrasound, I was finally able to get one booked today... for tomorrow at 9 am EST. It's a Canada-wide company called UC Baby, and they do live web streaming for family that can't be there. So, basically our parents, brothers, and their SOs. It's just for fun, so our family can participate in our pregnancy a little more, but at my last appt I asked my doctor if she saw any need for a final ultrasound, and she said no, they got everything they needed from the anatomy scan. I told her I was thinking of doing a 3D us, and she recommended I do it bw 26-28 weeks; I'll be 27w3d. So, this will be the last time I see my baby boy before I hold him in my arms! Really brings it home how close this is all getting!
I do my GD test on Tuesday - glad to hear that's been okay for most people so far; I hope it continues for all of us. I also start my 2 week appt schedule then, too, and on to the 3rd trimester!
pomelo / 5041 posts
@Astro Bee: Yep! In most normal pregnancies you're done with ultrasounds at 20 weeks unless something goes wrong. And they want you to do 3d soon because apparently they just get too big and squished to see much past then. You'll love 3d. I saw my first lo in 3d at the anatomy scan last time. I have to get an ultrasound next visit to ensure each twin is growing equally so I'm just hoping to see good things, not bad.
pear / 1580 posts
@Astro Bee: My GD test is this Tuesday, too! Then I have to wait another month for my next appointment, and I'm assuming my 2-wk appointment schedule will start after that.
@SunshineMcC: I've had a couple BH contractions, too! Woke up around 4am last night to a rock-hard belly! It's been accompanied by some cramps once a few weeks ago, but last night's was just a tightening of the belly. So strange!
hostess / cantaloupe / 6486 posts
@marionberry: seriously? I had a pretty nice, normal pregnancy the first time and my OBs office did their own 3d AND I think one other after that....I haven't had an US since 10 weeks and it's the same office! I'm getting a little annoyed with them because I don't seem to be getting told any information.
pomelo / 5041 posts
@Mrs. Sunshine: in our state some laws about 3D ultrasound changed recently making it really restrictive but I do think that they seem more lax in general with us second time moms. I can't believe you didn't have a 20 week ultrasound?? Maybe you need to confront your provider about it and ask when you'll get another one?
hostess / cantaloupe / 6486 posts
@marionberry: I plan on it. Last time they were super busy and I just saw a Nurse Practioner so I didn't say anything but I'll already be there for my 2 hour GD test on the 22nd so hopefully they can find some time to squeeze me in for something
persimmon / 1386 posts
@Mrs. Sunshine: am I reading that right? Your doctor didn't have you do an anatomy scan? I thought everyone had to get one.
hostess / cantaloupe / 6486 posts
@NeekieRose: l never got one last time either. Both times I keep being told that I'll be called with an appointment time an I never am. But I'm not that worried about it. I just know that I still got other ultrasounds even without the as last time
pomelo / 5041 posts
@Mrs. Sunshine: Wow. That would not work for me. I think that's the most disorganized office ever.
hostess / cantaloupe / 6486 posts
@marionberry: it's really really frustrating. Last time I was just overwhelmed and didn't realize that maybe I should switch. This time, I know I really really really love the hospital I gave birth at and though there have been draw backs, I like my doctor overall and feel nervous about switching....I keep looking into it and then I chicken out. I'm not really sure what to do.
kiwi / 563 posts
@brownie: love the name, it's so pretty!
@PawPrints: that sounds like a great class! If I can ask, what kinds of exercises are you doing?
@Mrs. Sunshine: grr, that is annoying! Hopefully you get another US soon. I had my last at 20 weeks and will have one more at 36.
@As Time Goes By: my glucose test is in a week and I have the orange too. My doc said drinking it really cold helps! I hear you on feeling like things are getting so close now that it's 2015.
DH & I both go back to work on Monday and we were just discussing that our next break together will be when baby comes! DH has a 2 week paternity leave and his spring break is a week before we're due so we'll hopefully have 2-3 weeks off together! So exciting! Do other DHs plan to take time off?
hostess / cantaloupe / 6486 posts
@SunshineMcC: my DH doesn't get paternity leave. Last time he just took a week of paid vacation time. Hopefully he will be able to this time too. I'd like him to be home longer (and I felt the same way with LO1) but he just doesn't have that kind of leeway with his job :/. 2 to 3 weeks with your DH home will be so great!
pomelo / 5041 posts
@Mrs. Sunshine: Ya it's late in the game to switch now. At least despite the same experience last time, you had a great birth. That makes this time look promising.
@SunshineMcC: My DH doesnt get paternity leave. Last time he only took off four days of pto because it's all he had. We're aiming for him to be home with me for two weeks this time on pto and then maybe work some half days afterward.
grapefruit / 4110 posts
Dh isn't planning on any time off (except the day we give birth). I have family set up to help te first three months. There is also a chance he will be at his new job/new town before then. So he may not even be around. It should be interesting. But this is number 2 and I have an idea of what to expect.
