@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I actually didn't even ask my doctor and didn't even think to. I had been reading the Bellefit website and reading testimonials from other wearers who started wearing it soon after birth. I ordered the one that is recommended for c section deliveries.

@Canoli: oh yeah I totally start getting ready like 2 hours before we had to leave lol and iuch, sorry about your nipples!! Guess that's a positive of pumping, it hurts, but not like that!!

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: sorry I am on my phone and can only reply to one post at a time apparently lol we've had a few poops during diaper changes, and one particularly bad one that DH left her but uncovered and she pooped all over everything. It was so gross lol we were supplementing with Enfamil when we needed to, so I'm sure if we end up going that route, we'll start there. I saw they have a gentle formula when I Googled lactose free formulas. But if anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears!!

Happy Mother's Day all! E slept 6 hours straight last night - his longest stretch so far - hopefully that will continue. Yesterday was rough - at least one LO was screaming/crying all yesterday pm. DH tried to get the car serviced and run errands then and I asked him to come home ASAP after 2 hours - I felt like such a failure. We introduced the paci to LO2 last night and that is helping calm him.

@autumnleaves: I hear you. Yesterday was our first full day as a family of 5 and it was rough. We had to ask my in laws to come over and help because my husband was trying to do some projects around the house and my older 2 wouldn't leave him alone and whined all day long in addition to acting out.

For those of you who are breastfeeding and supplementing with formula, how many ounces of formula are you giving at a time? I had to start using a nipple shield yesterday because my nipples are cracked and bleeding and I was at the point of quitting all together but my sil suggested a nipple shield. Between that and the soothie gel pads they already look so much better today but my boobs feel really full and I don't think he is drinking as much because of the shields so I want to give a little bit of formula to make sure he is getting enough.

    Happy Mother's Day to everyone.

@autumnleaves: 6 hours is amazing!! I am so jealous! We have only been getting 2-3 hour stretches and for some reason, even though he nurses to sleep ALL day, at night he has the hardest time falling back to sleep so we are up for 1-2 hours at a time. I am exhausted

  7. autumnleaves

    pear / 1622 posts

@Canoli: I used the 2 oz Similac for supplementation bottles and LO drank it all 1 or 2 times and maybe had an ounce the other time.
After the first week/10 days I realized I was producing a lot more milk than LO could take in at a feeding (I am pumping 2-3 times a day) and we haven't used the formula since.
I hope the shield is working and you are feeling better!

@poppygirl15: Idk, but hope she's home with baby girl!

It's been so quiet on the due date boards as we are all just hanging with babies. What are you all up to?

Today is the start of a 4 day adventure without LO. Im going to meet the movers in our new home and ready the house. DH is taking LO on his first road trip to meet MIL and SiLs. Im hoping ny supply doesn't take. I have to get a minifridge to salvage some milk since our new fridge still won't be ready for delivery & install.

@rockinghorse: I miss him already, but I'm not worried about him since he's with his dad. DH and I are consistent on the things that matter most when it comes to care/ rules. I am excited ablut a full night's rest and sleeping with the lights off.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I hope you enjoy your time getting your new house ready and sleeping with the lights off!

I was thinking too it's been quiet but I am quickly reminded how long everything takes with a newborn. It took me 3.5 hours the other day to get ready to leave the house! Unfortunately breastfeeding was a very very rough go for us and for mine and families sanity I gave it up. I have been pumping a very small amount (about 1 bottle/day) and formula feeding the rest of the time. I feel much less stressed and feel it is better for our family. This is our last baby and my last maternity leave and I don't want to waste any time unhappy. I want to enjoy every minute of it! My LO is 3 weeks old today and seems to be coming out of the newborn sleepy' sand is having more awake time especially at night when I want to go to bed!

I hope everyone else is well and I would love to hear how everyone is doing!

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Wow, that sounds so exciting! I love moving house! That first night, eating take away out of the foil trays, sitting on boxes I would LOVE a few nights away from the kids, too!!

@Canoli: I also quit trying to BF after 2 weeks. I feel really positive about it this time because, this time, *I* decided to quit (last time I never made any milk at all). I think if we ever have a third (we wont!), I won't even try - its just pure misery.

@Canoli: @Cherrybee: me 3. I just quit pumping a couple days ago, I'm still leaking so wearing breast pads, but the pain is getting less and the leaking is getting better. I can't wait until I can NOT WEAR A BRA. OMG. lol
@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I didn't realize how little time I would have to myself after she was born lol naive I guess! I am jealous you get to sleep without interruption! I miss waking up on my own.

@Canoli: I totalay agree with how long everything takes! I'm nervous for when I have to go back to work that I am going to be late all the time!

Can"t reply individually....still on the road. My dad is going to meet me at the house tomorrow morning to help with unloading. I brought a bottle of wine for us

Although I have had some success brrastfeeding I don"t really enjoy it. I returned an Elomi bra since I for sure decided I wasn't going to continue when I returned to work. The sales clerk said it happens all the time. I find BF painful and time consuming.Feeding on demand sounded okay until the reality of that set in. Eventhough I met with several LCs I never got comfortable with different positions. LO does seem to prefer the breast and for that reason alone I hope I can give him a little boob on Tuesday.

Doing anything with a baby takes forever yet still feels kind of rushed.

@cherrybee: pure misery! That exactly sums up my breastfeeding experience this time! I had intentions of meeting with a lactation consultant to help with his latch but I literally could not power through the pain to get through the weekend. Just not worth it this time around for me and you know what, it's okay my baby seems happy and hopefully growing.

@mrs.lemon-lime: yes, I've never really loved breastfeeding either. This time around was by far the worst for me. Maybe my boobs have just been abused to much😉

@jennylayneaz: I decided to try and pump some but I am reminded how much I hate it and how time consuming it is. I rented a hospital grade pump but it's really laugh-able how little I get so I think when the month is up I'll be done and on formula 100%.

Ok, enough grumbling from me! So good to hear from you ladies.

@Canoli: I'm glad you are feeling better about feeding your LO. I ended up doing the same with Liam. He wouldn't latch, and pumping 8 or more times a day was making me stressed out, tired, and miserable. Now I'm pumping about 4 times a day, still giving him some breast milk, and supplementing with formula for now.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Sounds fun, good luck with the move!

Things have been going well here, for the most part. I gave up pumping 8 or more times a day and will feed Liam with whatever breast milk I pump for now and formula. It took me a while to not feel guilty about this decision, but I feel so much better know that I'm there. It's good to hear others are having similar BFing issues.
Liam has been sleeping a little longer for his first stretch of sleep, which is great. He's starting to show interest in some of his toys, which is exciting. And he's gaining weight like a champ. He was up from being in the 5th percentile coming out of the hospital to being in the 25th percentile at his one month appointment.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: good luck with your move!

Glad to hear everyone is figuring out what works best for them in terms of feeding! A happy mama = a happy baby (and a happy family).

My LO is doing great. Growing big and strong! What shocks me is how little I can get done in a day. Since I'm currently at home while my DH is at work, I would love for the house to be immaculate when he gets home, but it just doesn't happen. I hope he knows how hard I try to get the house in a half-way decent state. We made need to hire a housekeeper when I go back to work.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend! DS is 6 weeks old today. I'm hoping he'll give us his first real smile soon.

@jh524: did you find a good formula for your LO? We switched to Similac Sensitive with the orange label and LO is no longer miserabke passing gas or pooping. The pediatrician says he must be lactose intolerant, which means I have to give up dairy.

Since I returned I have been offering the boob, but he doesn't get enough for a full feeding. Moving was so exhausting; however, taking long showers were heavenly.

This weekend is Memorial Day. Anyone have fun plans? Showing off the baby in red, white & blue?

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: hi! I got earths best organic formula. I made baby a bottle a few weeks ago. I tried it and couldn't swallow it. It was so nasty! So I felt guilty trying to give it to him. So I pump for one session a few times a week so I have a stash of bm.

Hi ladies!! I hope everyone is doing well, baby and your families. My lo is an eating machine!!! We're adjusting well to two. Even tackling potty training with my almost three years old is going pretty well other than him accidentally going on the floor yesterday. I'll attach a photo for your humor. I found it by stepping in a dropping barefoot. Good times over here! How are things going for YOU????

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: ha, showers as you knew them are hard to come by!

Low key weekend here. My SIL is coming over with my niece and nephew who are so excited to meet the baby. Maybe we'll go to the park. Going out with 3 still sounds overwhelming to my husband and I!

@jh524: oh boy! Was that your initiation into potty training? Good times!

Hi All, How was/is the 6 week growth spurt? Was it noticeable to you? Was it a nightmare? Did it last more than a few days?
LO is fussing every 90 minutes but not necessarily eating a lot. It's challenging to determine if it's the growth spurt, food allergies, or something else.
I am planning to call the doctor Tuesday to see if I can have his rash and poop examined for an allergic reaction.

@jh524: I hope the potty training is going well! We bought a potty and are only trying to get LO to sit on it and pee if he wants to before a bath. He's almost 21 months and definitely not showing signs of readiness but we thought it would be good to have a little potty around for him to get comfortable with the idea.

@Canoli: I can't imagine 3 LOs. We have gone on walks, to a festival for an hour, and to run errands with our 2 - I usually wear LO2 and LO1 walks or is in his stroller. Being outnumbered like you are would be a challenge!

@Canoli: lol is that what that is?! Well he successfully intiated his momma. Lol

@autumnleaves: good idea! Yes, my lo has been throwing me for a loop! ( that's a funny saying;) he's all over the place. Today he woke at 5:45am and he eats about every 3 hours, sometimes earlier though. Knowing this is my last baby helps me relax and just enjoy the ride.
Looking forward to Lo's 8 week visit to see his weight and height gains. This guy is growing so fast!

Sorry I've been quiet lately. Still trying to figure out the colic issues. She's been on Similac sensitive for a week and a half and now she's having constipation issues.

I go back to work next week. I don't know how I'm supposed to function with her waking ever 1 1/2 - 2 hours.
