@BandDmommy: I think I will be doing the harmony since I will be over 35 when I deliver. I have my first appt at my ob next week (still at my re now) so I am guessing we will go over it then.

@banddmommy: I am doing the Harmony test next Thursday and have my next appt 2 weeks later so we will know the gender in less than a month! I'm excited to know, but wonder if it will be strange to see it on paper without an u/s. Just different than last time.

@BandDmommy: oh good! I hope mine will
Be covered!!
How invasive are these tests?
@Den mom: welcome & congrats!!!!

The test I'm getting is called verifi, according to my OB it's pretty new.

Is anyone else still BF? I'm trying to wean my 10 month old but she so far is refusing a cup/bottle. I heard it gets easier after 1st trimester but my supply is so low and it hurts.
pear / 1632 posts
@BandDmommy: I'm still bf-ing and starting to wean him! Yay!!! Mines a lot older though... He turned 2 in July. It's going well just making each session shorter. I heard your milk taste changes around 4 or 5 months so I'm hoping to be done by then or before!! He bf's in morning, before nap and at bed. I'm working on morning and night. At night, I allow 10 min on each breast and cutting a minutes every other day until no more breast and daddy will take over bed time if needed. For the morning, I'm gonna offer a yummy breakfast & drink right away and maybe distract to get him to stop. His nap nursing is usually less than 5 minutes and just suckles so that'll be the last one to go. I can't wait to be done!! We're also potty training so a lot going on over here and wishing for a quick transition for this soon to be big brother

@Den mom: welcome and congratulations!
@BandDmommy: I'm still nursing, my LO is 23 months and an all night nurser. He's not big on solids and refuses to drink dairy or dairy alternatives. I'm hoping he'll self wean and start more solids soon.
I had to increase the amount of water I'm drinking a ton to help with my supply once I got my BFP. Otherwise nursing becomes painful quickly.

@JennyLayneAZ: great pic! Congrats on a good ultrasound!
I had my last appt with my re today. Baby measured 8w4d (so one day ahead) with a heartbeat of 164. Now I am "graduated" to a regular ob.

Hi ladies! My appt. today went well and we saw our little baby #2 & its beating heart!! THE BEST THING EVER!!! I'm 9 weeks, 3 days and due date is still April 18th but I'll be a RCS so may deliver at 39 weeks. Anyways, baby (and only one baby in there!! Phew!! ) was moving around and measured right on so we're very happy! We will be doing the genetic testing this time because 35 and pregnant means a elderly pregnancy, which is bizarre!!! Can't they call it something better than elderly??!! LOL So, I'll be doing the Harmony test in a few weeks, I can't believe you can find out gender so early!!! That's crazy and amazing!!
Haven't spilled the beans to anyone other than DH & BF so I'm really excited to tell the big news!! I have a Big Brother shirt for LO but I don't know when we'll tell, maybe around Halloween when we see everyone.
When are you announcing? Are you doing anything special for the announcement?

@jh524: yay congrats on a great ultrasound! If we have a second I will most likely be 35 also unless we do this back to back lol I will be 33 when i deliver this lo.

@jh524: yay! I'm so glad you got to see your bean!
Why on earth would they call it an elderly pregnancy? That sounds so weird.

@jh524: congrats! Great picture! I am also an "elderly pregnancy" since I will be 35 when delivering so I am right there with you!

@akcoffeebean: I've never heard that either. I've heard advanced maternal age.

Ahh! I had not been showing, but I think I popped overnight! Today there is a definite little belly that I am having trouble camouflaging. Hopefully just bloat because I want to keep this underwraps for quite a bit longer!

I am so behind. I've been following along, but not posting. Congrats to the new April Mommas, and those who just had successful scans. It's so exciting! I have my first ultrasound in a little under one week. I'm sure I'll be a nervous wreak all week, but I'm pretty busy too. Hopefully that helps.
My Mom is coming tonight and I'm finally telling her the news! I can't wait. I'm so excited! She's going to be in tears. Haha.
Have s great Friday everyone!

My next doctor's appointment is next week and then I have some down syndrome and custom fibrosis test. For down its the test you have to do between 12 and 13 w4 days. I forget what the midwife called it. I think I'm also getting tested for sickle cell as a possible AA genetic trait.
Most of the grandparents live so far away I have been thinking about ways to incorporate them in everyday life once the baby gets here. One idea is to have each record themselves reading a children's book. On the HB blog there was a craft to make a family pop up puzzle type book, I may try to take that on too. Amy other ideas?
wonderful pea / 17279 posts
@BandDmommy: that sounds like what the midwife described. The testing takes place off-site at a specific maternity test facility.

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to use me as a resource. It's my 3rd pregnancy and I have pretty much seen it all and done it all with my 1st being a NICU baby born at 34 weeks.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: my NT scan will be done at a different facility also. I'm looking forward to it though so I can see baby again
@auggiefrog: how exciting! I really wanted to tell my parents in person, but DH had told pretty much every person we know by the time he got home from work, so I decided to call my parents and tell them that way. Oh well, they were/are still super excited!

@JennyLayneAZ: That's how my husband was too! Cute but exasperating. We face timed with our folks while my son wore his new "I'm the big brother" shirt that DH picked up on the way home. Whenever it's DH's turn to dress our son he wants to put it on him.
wonderful pea / 17279 posts
@akcoffeebean: that's adorbs!
@JennyLayneAZ: shoot! I just told my husband when the NT scan is and I think he penciled it in his calendar to join me. I actually don't want him at any more of my appointments. He's such a Nervous Nick! I'm going to a cheese place with a friend tonight and he's already crying foul. Dude, chill! No soft cheeses, but everything else is tasty and fair game lol. Is your husband going to your scan?
pomelo / 5660 posts
@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: NT scan is great appt for him to be at! You get great pics of the baby!
nectarine / 2690 posts
@akcoffeebean: He's also the reason we already have baby gear LOL he's just excited, so it's not like I can complain! That is cute about your sons shirt though
@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I don't know if he's going to make it or not. I'd love for him to be there, he didn't make it to the first appointment this week, so all he got to see is the picture of the ultrasound. I don't think he even knows anything about what's "safe" and "unsafe" for me to eat right now (besides alcohol lol).
wonderful pea / 17279 posts
@BandDmommy: well, in that case it may be worth the aggravation, lol
@JennyLayneAZ: I hope he's able to make it to yours!

I swear I hardly ever get sick unless I'm pregnant! Here I am with a severe cold that literally has ruined me all weekend. Does anyone else seem to get more illnesses during pregnancy or does my immune just go on vacation when I'm pregnant?! It sucks.
nectarine / 2690 posts
@jh524: I'm sorry you're sick! I haven't gotten sick yet but we'll see if I make it through the winter with catching something. Although u.t.i s aren't common for me so I truly believe that was because I'm pregnant. I hope you feel better soon!
cherry / 204 posts
@jh524: I've heard that your immune system is slightly suppressed while pregnant so that there's no issue with your immune system attacking the baby. I hope you feel better soon! Being sick while pregnant is so miserable.
