@.twist.: I totally randomly grab my boobs since sore boobs are my only 'real' symptom right now! So happy to hear the spotting stopped. I'm having troubles staying asleep because I get up and pee so dang much! =(
@Mrs D: I too am paranoid and check for blood as well. (>_<) Sorry to hear nausea taking its toll on you!!
@Mrs Bicycle: I think it's possible to hear the hearbeat at 9 weeks. I had my first pre-natal appt at 7 weeks and we got to see the heart palpitating on the screen!! We didn't hear it though.

Hey ladies! I just had my first prenatal appointment and u/s and the doctor said everything looks great! We got to see the heartbeat and he moved my due date to 8/16. Here's a picture of our little gummy bear! Hope y'all are all doing well!

@lawbee11: SO awesome!!!
@.twist.: 100% yes on the sleep! I have always been the kind of person who pees 1 to 2 times a night (I cant even imagine how bad it will be later in pregnancy) but now I find that I fall asleep around 930-1030 but am up at 1 or 2 to pee, from then on a struggle to get back to sleep! I usually would pee and then just crash right back to sleep, now I find that I toss and turn for 30 mins or so before going to sleep again, then I am up again in a half hour to pee - UGH!
When I see my doctor (if they ever schedule my appt) I'm going to ask what I can take to stay asleep...maybe Unisom or something...

@.twist.: @Mrs D: @JamieLee: Thanks! DH was very relieved that there's only one in there
I go back for my NT scan on 2/4

@.twist.: I'm also having sleep trouble. I was downstate at my dad's house and I don't think I slept more than eight hours the whole three nights we were there. it's not that I'm not tired...I just can't fall asleep!
nectarine / 2530 posts
@lawbee11: ahhh, how cool is that!
@.twist.: glad to hear the spotting stopped! Yes to the sleep. I'm not sure if it's because I keep on zonking out at 7/8pm and then waking up to go to bed, but I was waking up at 3-4am and staying up for an hour+. It's not as bad now, I have had some nights where I sleep through, so hopefully that trend continues.
Feeling more nauseous the last couple of days, though not as bad as that span of 4 weeks. Going out to dinner with a friend tonight, so hopefully I'll continue to feel okay.
So at Target I picked up a changing pad for the nursery and a changing pad for the baby bag, both 50% off. I also got two christmas dresses (you know...just in case it's a girl ;)) and a onesie with a cupcake on it. I'm going to be so dangerous once I know what we're having!

Have any of you taken any bump pics yet? I took an 8w bump pic yesterday (my first) and afterwards I just felt silly because I don't look pregnant at all!

@lawbee11: No, at this point it's just fat, and that's not very attractive

@lawbee11: Yay for a great first appointment!! I took belly picture the first week after our BFP, but haven't taken one since then. I don't think there's been any changes in belly growth any way. I'll try to start back up again this week.

@lawbee11: I took one at 8w5d and totally felt silly after. I do not look preggers at all.

Just a quick question. When I went to my primary physician for a blood test for confirmation, she mentioned that cramping was not a symptom of pregnancy. This comment was brought on when I told her I feel cramping now and then. This evening I've had an increase in cramps and I'm getting worried. Do you ladies have cramping? If so is it a daily occurrence? I hoping this just ends up being gas...
grapefruit / 4545 posts
@lawbee11: I looked at myself in the mirror yesterday (contemplating if I should start taking a bump pic) and I decided I just looked bloated and fat...so I passed! Maybe next week (when I hit 8) I'll start...
@Mrs Bicycle: I have intermittent cramping. It does not last long, and it is not as bad as AF cramps. I also have crampy gassy feelings (seriously - DH is lucky to have me! ha!). I asked my step dad (the OBGYN) about it and he said so long as they are mild and there is no bleeding not to worry. I mention it when I see him (since it looks like I wont be getting in to see my dr until 10 weeks or so) and he never seems alarmed by it. He does put on his dr hat and ask a bunch of questions but then he says not to worry. Just FYI...I'm 6W4D...I'd say its less frequent now (1 or 2 instances a day) but earlier it was more frequent (quite often).

@StrawberryBee: I got my delivery from Carters today (Christmas stuff for next year) and it is soooo stinkin cute I almost went online and ordered a bunch more. Ugh! I am going to be terrible too...trying so hard to hold out until I know the gender...
nectarine / 2530 posts
@Mrs D: I haven't let myself go into a Carter's yet. Is it wrong that I just want to roll in the baby stuff? It's so long to wait to find out the gender!
Any pics of your haul?
clementine / 930 posts
@StrawberryBee: @Mrs D: yes! both of you, please post pictures of your baby stuff. Let me live vicariously through your shopping. I can't buy anything yet 1) because I'm paranoid and need to see the heartbeat first and 2) because I'm broke! So I pacify myself by window shopping online.
@Mrs Bicycle: I have some cramping that is usually either gas or (TMI) having to use the bathroom. I did read that you can have cramping related to your uterus stretching and enlarging. In fact, I think I've read that several places.
On a side note, is anyone else having awful headaches? I've been trying to get by with a warm compress but sometimes I really want an Excedrine. Not taking one, just wanting one!
cantaloupe / 6730 posts
@.twist.: Whoohoo for no more spotting!
@Mrs Bicycle: I have an appt at 9 weeks and I want to convince my dr to try with the doppler. I found a stat on the internet (not backed up by anything), that there is a 60% chance of hearing the heartbeat. So high enough that it's worth a shot, but you shouldn't be surprised if you hear nothing yet.
I've heard plenty of times that cramping happens. In fact, my Mayo Clinic book says it's common. For me, I definitely confused gas for cramping. If you use the washroom, does the pain go away? That's how I determined that it was just gas.
@lawbee11: Aww, hi gummybear! I started taking belly pics two weeks ago. There's nothing to see, but I don't want it to sneak up on me.
I'm having a hard time sleeping, especially last night. I couldn't get comfortable between sore breasts, bloated gut, and weird pulse that I can feel on my right side.
Morning sickness disappeared for most of yesterday and then again today. Had me quite freaked out, but it came back this evening, so I feel better. I started eating an apple these last two mornings. Do you think they might be a magical morning sickness cure?

@StrawberryBee: Haha...I'll lay out what I have so far this weekend and post some baby clothes shopping porn! DH is gone so I can do it without getting busted...if he saw what I have I may get a "talking to" about not getting carried away!

Ladies...I just got an email for a 30-35% off code at Gap/Banana/Old Navy...I had been eyeing some maternity jeans and just pulled the trigger. The code is 24HOURS...I got 2 pairs of jeans (one full panel and one demi) and one full panel pair of black work pants for $110.
I am following the advice of many friends and accepting maternity pants early to be comfortable - if I am going to make the investment I may as well get the most enjoyment out of the right?!
clementine / 930 posts
@Mrs D: I already got a "talking to" and I was just researching car seats online. My hubby just doesn't want me to get my hopes up too high in case something happens, which I understand, but I just want to go shopping!
GOLD / watermelon / 14076 posts
@Mrs Bicycle: One night around 5-6 weeks I had really really bad cramping one night (like almost as bad as period cramps). By the morning it was gone, though, so I assume it was my uterus stretching. I'll have cramping every once in awhile since then, but it's not a daily occurrence and isn't as painful as period cramps. When I have gas pains it's usually much higher in my abdomen than the cramps. I think you're fine as long as there isn't any bleeding associated with the pain.
@Mrs D: Thanks for the code! There are some tanks from Old Navy that I really want...I know I won't be able to use them for awhile but they're on sale and with the code they will be dirt cheap!
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
@Mrs Bicycle: I had some intense cramps during week 8, and even some random ones prior to that. I asked my OB and she said as long as there's no blood, it's fine. It's just the uterus stretching. The cramping stopped during week 9.
@Mrs D: I bought my first pair maternity jeans on Sunday, and omy! are they comfy! They sit right below your belly so there's no digging in! My regular jeans fit if I use the rubberband trick, but they'll dig in during the day or after I eat so it was slightly uncomfortable.
pineapple / 12802 posts
@Mrs Bicycle: I have had cramping on and off the whole time. It's definitely not nearly as strong as AF cramps and like the other ladies said, it could be gas too, or just your uterus stretching! I wouldn't worry about it unless they become very consistent and painful and accompanied with blood.
@JamieLee: I woke up in the middle of the night with a really nasty headache! I haven't gotten many so far, but I think last night's headache made up for all the ones I never got!
@Grace: haha just keep telling yourself it's the apple! Maybe it's a placebo! Also, I have been sleeping like CRAP for days. Last night I only barely woke up to roll over and then my mind started thinking about a lack of boob pain, so then I really woke up and started thinking about how clearly all my symptoms disappeared and this is the end for sure. Hilariously, I started squeezing my boobs and was so freaked out that they weren't hurting I even pinched my nipples a couple times. Which did hurt, btw. lol. don't do that... Anyway, I slept like crap even after I had calmed down.
@Mrs D: I totally want to see baby stuff too!!! I haven't bought a single thing and I am DYING to buy anything! Even a burp cloth!
nectarine / 2530 posts
@JamieLee: and everyone else: if I get a chance I'll take pics tonight of my 'stash'.
And I will come clean to you ladies and say that I've already bought disposable diapers and wipes. You know, because you can never be prepared enough! *rolls eyes at herself* Honestly, I was at BJs and had a ton of coupons and decided, 'why not'?
Oh, and I contacted a newborn photographer and am so sad that it costs So Much Freaking Money in my area for a good photographer!
It's $125 for the session (easy, no problem) but then $30 for a 5x7, $475 for a photo package, or a whopping $750 for all the digital files (individual files are an 'affordable' (ha!) $105 each).
Waa.
grapefruit / 4545 posts
@StrawberryBee: WOAH...what area are you in? I started looking at photographers (and getting referrals from one friend). The most expensive I found was $500 for the newborn session. I found a few in the $250 range (which came with all digital copies) and then one in the $150 range with all digital copies.
@lawbee11: Hmmm...I pretty much live in tank tops...I completely forgot to look at Old Navy...maybe I should have considered getting some yoga pants/hoodies and some tanks...hmmm...

Thanks ladies! I feel so much better. I just got nervous after my MD told me cramping was not normal. I feel like my cramps are just how you ladies describe them...off and on -light cramping. I think last night might have been just gas (poor hubby!). It seems like time is going by so slow. I can't wait till 12 weeks to start telling more people!
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
@StrawberryBee: Whoa!! That's a lot!! I haven't looked into them for my area yet, but hopefully they're not that much. *gulp*
@.twist.: I haven't been sleeping well lately either. I keep tossing and turning or having to get up and pee. I'm already exhausted during the day so the lack of a good night's rest doesn't help! I also haven't gone baby shopping yet. I have a onesie and a pair of baby mittens but that's because it was leftover from a baby shower gift I was making for a friend last year. ha!
grapefruit / 4545 posts
Ok I may have just gone and bought some loungey stuff from old Navy. I got 1 pair each long and short yoga pants, 1 pair gauchos, 1 maxi skirt, 1 loungey shorts and a zip up hoodie (yoga pants and tanks are pretty much my wardrobe in the summer) - I got all that for $80...not too bad. I need to be done for now tho!
nectarine / 2530 posts
@Mrs D: @Alivoo01: I'm about an hour outside Philadelphia (north and west of the city). I feel like I'm in the 'burbs, so I don't really think we should be commanding major city pricing. I paid $2,000 for our wedding photography, which included all images edited on disk, 10 8x10's, and two shooters! (granted, that same package is now $3,500, but still...). Unfortunately I'm finding this same pricing everywhere. Either the photographer doesn't have a good grasp of lighting, or their packages end up being $1,000. Sigh.

@jamielee not sure if this will help your headache problem...but i noticed I was getting headaches when I was dehydrated. Once I increased my water intake the headaches faded.

I think some of you have already discussed this a little, but when did you/will you start buying maternity clothes? If you've already purchased some, what did you buy? I am really itching to buy stuff, but I don't really know what I'll need or how much I'll need. I am hoping a lot of the summer dresses I already have will work at least for a little while. I am also allowed to wear jeans to work every day so I don't have to worry about buying nice work pants/shirts.
I did make one maternity purchase I am really excited about! DH and I have a wedding to go to at the end of April when I'll be about 24-25 weeks, and last week on Gilt they had Rosie Pope dresses on sale, so I bought one to wear to the wedding! It's so cute & I love her. I am hoping that I am big enough by then to wear it!
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
@lawbee11: I've only bought one pair of maternity jeans, and it's the full panel one. The fit is comfy since the waistband doesn't dig into your tummy as the day progresses or after you've eaten a full meal. A lot of my non-maternity shirts should last me at least until the 3rd trimester. I'll probably invest in more pants later on. I'll need to invest in some summer clothes though.
grapefruit / 4187 posts
@Mrs Bicycle: I also have had light cramping on and off the entire time, in fact it was my first early pregnancy symptom. I don't know why your Dr. would say it isn't a pregnancy symptom, it absolutely is. Your uterus stretches to make room for the baby and as a result some women get cramps. I've read that the only time you should worry about cramps is if they are painful or if they are accompanied by bleeding.

@StrawberryBee: I saw you mention the photographers being so pricey. I found the same, too. (I live in Exton, PA) My co-worker recommended a woman (out of Valley Forge area) that charged $125 for the session, then only about $200 more for the CD with all photos (about 80) and she did a fantastic job! I can give you her name if you want. She only does newborn and pet photos and all of our photos turned out great! (We used her last October when my son was born) I can show you some of the pro shots of my son, too, if you want.

@Jenn23: that would be *wonderful*, thank you!! I'll send you my email addy

@lawbee11: I work in an office where I have to be business casual M-Th, and can wear jeans busines casual Fri. I purchased a pair of black pants (full panel) and will hopefully find a nice pair of khaki's and maybe some grey pants too. I plan to invest in 5-7 nicer maternity tops for work (I got two on sale from Gap last week). In my mind, I have okay'd the spending of about $500 on maternity clothes. I have some decent visibility at work, and its getting more and more every day so I am trying to make sure I look as put together as possible throughout my PG. For non work clothes, I bought a bunch of loungy stuff, a pair of jeans and will buy a decent amount of tanks/tee's for summer. Having lived in Miami for 3 years (while DH was in law school) I have a small army of cotton dresses which I am hoping will be my BFF this summer.
Good news, I just got a call from my Dr's office that they had an opening tomorrow at 10:30. I'll be 7 weeks...so it will likely be just this until my 12/13 week appt. Super excited.

@Mrs D: That's awesome about the appointment! Do you think they'll do an ultrasound? If so, I bet you'll be able to see the heartbeat
grapefruit / 4545 posts
@lawbee11: I have no idea, I need to read my book tonight to know what they might do. I'm behind. A few of my family members have been feeling like I am farther along than I realize, so I am excited to get the Dr's opinion on my due date! I'd be SO excited if the did an U/S!

@.twist.: Oh, it's definitely the apple. I didn't have one this morning (because I'm a crazy fool, and wanted to see the M/S would come back) and it came back. Apple tommorow morning for me!
@StrawberryBee: I was looking at newborn photographers too and was shocked at how much it was. I was sure that when I got married (only a year and a half ago), that they weren't that much then!
@lawbee11: I had totally decided that I was getting maternity clothes (at least pants) early and that I wasn't going to suffer. Especially considering that you hardly get to wear them. Not sure if that's going to happen for me, now. I hear so much about girls saying that they are wearing bellybands and using elastics, but my clothes fit fine. I think I forgot that overweight people don't gain as much, especially at the beginnign. Thwarted! Thwarted again!
@Mrs D: Whoohoo! That's super exciting! Happy appointment tommorow!
