Everyone's getting on board with their updates, so here I go! Hard to believe how big our babies are getting!

K is awesome, I love her to pieces. She'll be 6 months on the 16th, the same day we leave for Cuba! We started rice cereal at 4 months, as recommended by her doctor, but we've stopped since then - it gave her wicked tummy troubles. So we'll start with some veggies/fruits at 6 months.

She's rolling like a champ, and can wiggle herself around in circles if she wants to get at something. She can't quite sit unassisted - she gets too excited and topples over. She LOVES screens (which isn't a habit I want to encourage) and managed to pull herself up to standing on the file cabinet that was holding a laptop. It only happened once, but it blew me away.

Naps are 30 minutes right now, which is unfortunate, but she's always so happy when she wakes up. She has 2 night wakings, one at 2:00 and one around 5:00. I'd love to drop one of those, but she seems so hungry. Maybe when solids start, sleep will get better.

    Here she is!

@sarbear: so jealous of the hair!

I think kids falling off of couches are a matter of course. It seems like everyone on HB mentions it sooner or later!

Oh my gosh, I am behind by a month! I'm not sure where January went or why it was so busy but I'm shocked that it's February and Paige is almost 5 months old! Five! I love having a five month old. She's so much more fun than when she was a little baby.

@Alivoo01: Super late response, but I'm so happy that you are finally getting a good night's sleep!

@MrsB2012: I love standing babies too. Paige loves to stand. So much so that I think she's not interested in rolling over. I don't trust her to hold on to the table though. I think she'd smack her chin into it.

@BabyMats: Hope your brother is doing ok!

@Delight: We went swimming for the first time last week! It was so much fun, I think it will be a weekly thing. Enjoy Florida! We thought about going south this winter, but chickened out. And yikes about fall! My cousin did that when he was a baby. Needed stitches, so glad that didn't happen to you!

@Twist: How you doing, girl? I'm sorry to hear that life isn't going so well. I hope that things start to look better soon. Great pic! Paige loves to suck on the washcloth too. It's hilarious.

@StrawberryBee: Coming up for air! That's exactly what it feels like! Finally getting a hang of this parenting thing. And new house! That's exciting! Refresh my memory, was it you that was bursting at the seams and had no room to put LO's clothes?

@Sarbear: Isn't is weird what babies decide to do? My LO refuses to roll back to front and will only roll front to back once in a while. She likes sitting and standing much better.

So new with us. I'm waiting until Mar 1 to start solids, so about a week before 6 months. I want to be able to try them a few times before her 6mo appointment so that I can ask questions if I have them. My parents are already giving me a hard time for not giving her solids, but I figure what's the rush. I wanted to skip cereals, but apparently, babies need 11 mg iron per day and there's no way I'll get that into her without cereal. So I'll do my best at getting meat and iron-rich veggies into her and add oatmeal cereal as necessary.

This week was huge-milestone wise. Paige can sit up really well by herself, but still needs to be spotted. She's so proud of herself. She also likes to walk holding our fingers and is taking pretty big steps. She also cut 2 teeth yesterday. It only came with 3 bad sleepless nights, so not to bad. Haha - and sleep had gotten better with 5-6 hour stretches, and even the odd 1.5 hour nap but then the teething killed it. We'll see if it comes back.

All your babies are so cute! I'm going to go find the gold thread and post one of Paige. And hopefully I'll be better at posting...which I say every time.

@sarbear: Omg THAT HAIR!! And those EYES! She is GORGEOUS!
Don't worry about the solids. I don't think you're slacking at all! We started rice cereal a few times a week around 5 months, but didn't start fruits/veggies until 6 months.

@StrawberryBee: Way to go on the solids! Isn't it so much fun trying new things! I actually JUST bought organic butternut squash from plum organics. It comes in the pouches, and even has a little bit of cinnamon in it. Yum!

@.twist.: Ahhh! That bathtub pic is ADORABLE! He is just too stinkin cute!!

@Grace: This really is such a fun age isn't it? DS is so curious about everything and they're learning so much so fast! Glad to hear you're doing well!

It's nice to hear everyones updates! Things are going well here. DS loves solids. He get's so excited anytime he sees the spoon! This boy just loves to eat! Could explain why he's 6 months old and almost 20 pounds!

Is anyone planning any trips with LO in the near future? DH and I want to take a beach vacation late spring/summer, but the thought of traveling with a baby is making me anxious. Any tips?

@.twist.: So cute. Hope things get better for you soon!

    @stbhismrs: She's just a tiny little thing. Can't believe she's crawling.

@Strawberrybee: That would be exciting about the house! Being cramped is no fun. I can't wait to get a bigger place too. 800sq ft just isn't cutting it with baby toys strewn from one end of our apartment to the other. My LO can sit up, but STILL doesn't roll over. I know we're not supposed to compare too, but seriously... I know two month olds that can roll over.

    Sarbear: I love her hair!

As for us, N turned 6 months yesterday. She's still loving her solids. Like I was saying, still no consistent rolling, but she can pull herself to standing , so I'm pretty sure she might just skip it all together. She's still sampling some solids, but I haven't really bothered giving them to her with much consistently. Now that she's actually six months, maybe I'll make a better effort to feed them a couple times a day.

@Grace: I think that was maybe @StbHisMrs: with the closet situation? We're in general running out of space. We lost a lot of storage area when we turned the third floor into my DSS's room.

I also wanted to skip cereals, until I found out about the iron. Oh well. True like her mama, baby girl loves carbs. She scarfs down the baby oatmeal. Congrats on the relatively painless teeth coming in!

@skipper2010: I'm so tempted to put spices in what I'm making! It just seems to me like it would really improve the flavor.

Unfortunately no trips in the near future. We still haven't gone to a restaurant with her. Our first trip will be a beach vacation at the end of June.

@Sapphiresun: E doesn't roll over that much either. She just doesn't seem much interested in it.

and yeah, between the three dogs, two cats, one baby, two older kids (every other weekend, so we don't have ALL their stuff, but still) there's just nowhere to put things. I know that we'll probably max out the space at my mother's house too though, if all goes as planned. Stuff just expands.

I think I've come up with a pretty cool idea though for the upstairs "kitchen". The house was built with kind of an inlaw suite on the second floor. So there's two bedrooms on the first floor, a full bath, living room, dining room, kitchen, and then on the second floor there's another full bath, a bedroom, a larger room they were using as a living room (but has a closet), and off of that is this linoleum and cabinet room with a working sink.

We're going to use the bigger upstairs room as our bedroom, the smaller bedroom as E's room, and the upstairs kitchen I want to transform into a big closet and laundry area! I won't have to go into the dark basement to do laundry, and stuff will be easy to put away. I've been pinning like mad...I really hope this all works out ^^;;.

Some bad pics from when mom and I first bought the house back in '04. We ripped out all the nasty carpet the first day.

What happened to our chatty thread?

Hope everyone is doing well! Add your 6 month pictures to our other thread!

@skipper2010: We were in Florida last week and L was a dream. She slept great, was totally happy on the plane. I was so happy I could wear her in my mei Tei through security at the airport which was super helpful. I was travelling by myself so it was nice to have my hands free. I tried to stick to her regular nap schedule. Don't be anxious about travelling. I was glad I did it while she is still not mobile. I can imagine things will be totally crazy once she is walking. You should try to go on a vacation this spring!

We started solids this weekend. I was going to skip cereals but like @StrawberryBee: I decided it was the easiest way to get her iron. I went straight to oats though and she has also had sweet potato.

@redsmarties: hope you had a great trip to Cuba!

@delight: I'm glad you had a successful trip! Kudos to you for traveling by yourself with a baby! The thought of traveling with DS is terrifying, but so exciting at the same time! haha. I think I'm mostly nervous about bringing all his "stuff" along. Car seat, stroller, pack n play.... How are the solids going?

  13. delight

    pomelo / 5326 posts

@skipper2010: lucky for me, my dad drove to Florida and took all our luggage, stroller, car seat, PNP etc. I literally only had to bring a diaper bag and L with me! You'll be alright bringing stuff if your DH is with you! Depending on where you vacation, there are companies that rent baby equipment so you could always get a PNP and stroller there.
Solids are going great! I wish I could just skip the 3 day rule and give her everything! I'm excited to make my own food!

@delight: Oh wow that's great that your dad drove all that stuff down! You're right though, DH will be able to help me so hopefully it won't be too bad. The three day rule is killing me too! I love experimenting with solids, and it's so boring feeding him bananas for three days in a row!

well peeps, we're in our own room and own crib finally! Once she goes down for the night she sleeps really well. Unfortunately it's getting to that point that's the problem. She does not know how to fall asleep without either nursing or daddy holding her. Tried 'cry it out' once and she screamed herself hoarse. Literally, my sister noticed it over Facetime halfway around the world, and I didn't tell her anything about it. I felt horrible.

It's really frustrating when DH is out and isn't available to put her to sleep, because it can either take fifteen minutes or over an hour of her sucking away at me. And then comes the dreaded TRANSFER TO CRIB, which either results in a still sleeping baby or a fussy, overtired mess. Which is what I have right now. Wah.

Also, work has been insane, so I've been having a lot of stress related breakdowns, and I feel like there's never a break.

Ok ladies...I am about a billion years behind in my posting here. So here goes with an update!

Our Life: absolute madness. We decided to up our game and sell our house ASAP. We sold it in 36 hours for over asking - OMG. We then found a beautiful house in our same town (initially thoughts we'd have to go a little north) that is a beautiful house but needs a reno. Long story short - we sell our house next Thursday and buy our new house Friday and immediately start a 4 week reno. Holy crap. I'll keep you guys posted!

K: OMG...how I love watching her grow. Daycare is going great, I just love the ladies there and K seems to just love it. She is eating a ton now - 30 oz formula and 2 servings of cereal (we started that around 5 mos). The cereal has been a challenge but she is starting to finally get ahold of it. K is still sleeping through the night but we do go through some rough patches here and there. She had her first ear infection (very mild) which means we are giving her antibiotics right now - worst thing ever! I keep thinking she is teething and then nothing comes through. However, teething tablets are a life saver!

As for her development. She is rolling over now and working on sitting up. I swear she is going to have a 6 pack from all of her crunches!!! She will be 6 months in 2 weeks - I think we may start some veggies then!

We leave for Florida on Mar 4 for 6 days. I cannot wait! Hopefully K does well on airplanes - most of what I have read says to feed her on take off and landing - so I am planning 2 bottles with me.

    As for stats:

    16 lbs
    27"
    Gerber Rice Cereal
    Target Brand formula
6 month carters clothing (pushing 9 months soon)
still taking baths in the sink - but close to upgrading to the tub with the ducky inflatable
    5 bottles a day
3 naps (two 1 hour, one 2 hour)
    sleeps 8:30pm-6/6:30am in her crib

I miss you all so much! Def will try to be better now that the house stuff is settling down! I'll post some pics from my phone!

@Mrs D: First of all, K is so gorgeous! Love hearing your update.

Secondly, holy house fun! So exciting, if you feel up to sharing pics I'd love to see how your new home evolves.

DH came home and got her to sleep. Ahhhhh!

This reminds me, E rolled over for the first time back to belly, and DH caught it on video! He used a book to tease her into doing it ;D. She loves her Sesame Street book, Eyes Nose Fingers and Toes. Also Dora Duck Goes for a Swim.

    stats:

    28 weeks/6 months 12 days old
    16 lbs
    26.5 inches
Earth's best oatmeal, little yums teething wafers (once, but she was kinda gagging and I decided not to try it again while it was just the two of us), butternut squash, banana, apples, avocado

still BF'ing, but boy is it hard with work. Not sure how much longer I'm going to last

@delight: I'm glad you had such a good time in Florida! I hope that we can go on a trip to Edmonton in a few months to visit SIL's family.

@StrawberryBee: Ugh, that sounds so stressful. I hate putting LO down for naps because she freaks out beforehand. But CIO works for her, thank goodness. I don't know what I'd do otherwise.

    @Mrs D: Such gorgeous pics! She's such a sweetheart.

Paige learned to roll back to front last week. She did it once on Sunday, was practising in her crib by Tuesday and by Thursday (last week), she was regularly sleeping on her belly. It happened so fast! She still doesn't seem too interested on going back to front, although she knows how to do it.

We're going to start solids on Saturday. Do you ladies offer breastmilk/formula or solids first? And did your kiddos take to the solids right away, or did it take a few times for them to like this idea of solid food?

    Here's Paige's stats:
    -5.5 months old
    -15 lb 8 oz
    -26.5 in
-Only breastmilk so far, starting solids on Saturday. We're going to start with chickpeas and have a hummus party! Hummus for DH and I, pureed chickpeas for LO.
-6 month clothing mostly, some 6-12 month, except for pants. She's got short legs, and is just making it into 3-6 month pants.
-3 naps a day. Recently, I've discovered that if I leave her to cry for 5-10 min when she wakes after 30 min, she'll sleep for an extra HOUR. Oh my gosh, having one real nap a day is heavenly!!!
-nighttime sleep keeps changing. She's always down from 7:30/8 until 8 the next morning, but earlier this month she was waking 6 x a night (teething, then cold, then learning to roll over), but this week, it's been only 2x a night. I love it. She's become a tummy-sleeper, and I think it must be more comfy for her, because she goes to sleep so much easier. And stays asleep.

@strawberrybee: That's great she's in her own room now and sleeping well! We still nurse to sleep too.

@Mrs D: Wow!! That's a super fast sell, and over your asking, yahoo!!!

@Grace: I offered rice cereal first then sweet potatoes. She really took to both fast.

    Here's Charlies Stats

Just shy of 6.5 months old
    12lbs 6oz
    25" long
3-6 month clothes (she still swims in a lot of them)
She loves food (her weight doesn't reflect that). She has rice cereal with soy formula for breakfast, nurses throughout the day, sweet potatoes, carrots, or squash with dinner. She nurses about 5-6 times a day. She sleeps next to me in her bassinet finally, now that she's sick she hasn't been sleeping well at all though. Most nights she goes to bed around 9:30, up at 2 to eat, again at 6 for the day.
She sits, crawls, pulls up, waves, and wants to stand on her own. I blame her older siblings for that, dh walked at 7 months, her sister walked at 10 months. Freaking out just a little.

There is so much going on in our life right now, it'd be a novel.
Our life should be a reality show is a daily remark, oy.

@StrawberryBee: I will probably start a seperate thread with pictures and way more info about the reno!!! I'll let you know when its up!

For you ladies who have introduced more than just cereal...how and when did you do it? K has been having cereal for 2 weeks now. I'd say its going OK - she still isn't 100% getting it since she just chomps on the spoon until it slides off. We still loose about 1/3 of the cereal to her bib. Should I stick with cereal for a while? Or start mixing in some veggies/fruit?

    A's stats:
    17 lbs
    26.5".
Target Brand formula, 5 4-5oz bottles a day
She eats oatmeal mixed with apple purée and formula, purées and we'll give her some things from our dinner too.
    9 month clothing
still taking baths in the sink - but close to upgrading to the tub with the ducky inflatable
Her naps are horrible. She is a horrible napper.
    sleeps 7:30pm-6/6:30am in her crib

Oh man!! Poor thread has been neglected by me for awhile! Playing catch up!

Stats at his 6 month check up (he's now 7 months):
    - he was almost 16lbs so I'd say closer to 17 now?
    - Forgot his height (not at home to check)
    - EBF/takes bottles at daycare: 3-5oz bottles then nurse at - home
    - Food: Gets breakfast, lunch, and dinner of solids. Loves veggies, despises fruits. He'll shudder and make the ugliest stinky face if you feed him fruits.
    - 9 month clothing
    - Sits up pretty well (more upright than slouching). Wiggles around to get to where he needs to be, but no signs of crawling yet
    - Naps are consisten, but nighttime sleep is terrible. It's more like a nap schedule. Ugh! But if I pick him up and told him, he'll go right back to sleep so I put him back down until he wakes up again. Rinse and repeat. Tried CIO, but he just escalates and screams till he knocks out. Recoups then resumes with the screaming and crying.

    17 lbs 10 oz and 28 inches.
Probably has a lazy eye, we have an appointment with a specialist.
Clothing size varies a lot by brand, mostly 6-12 months or 9-12 months, 6-9 months would probably fit better, but I never got much in that size.
Breastfed - bottles during the day.
I moved him to his own crib, and sleep improved, mostly from 9:30-6:30, although woke up crying last night. I checked on him, nothing seemed wrong, and he cried himself to sleep in five minutes.
One solids meal a day, he prefers smoother purees, with a favorite of strawberries. He still only eats a little, but does not seem to mind. He loves the straw cup of water, although I am not sure how much he is eating. I have introduced a lot of highly allergic foods to prevent food allergies, and so far so good. We have tried bananas, avocado, sweet potato, wheat cereal, yogurt, strawberries, tofu (mixed with strawberries), peanut butter (mixed with bananas), and green beans.
Naps vary from 2-3, depending on length.
Sits by self and stands holding onto something. He is back to rolling front to back regularly, but not regularly going from back to front.
Baths have been in the big tub for a while now, he loves to splash. Baths are only 2-3 times a week and not at bedtime.
    We bought a house.

I love all the updates! Congrats on all the new houses! What an exciting time

I put most of this on the other thread, but I'll do it here too as I'm feeding B and bored

She will be 7 (!) months in 6 days. I can't believe it! I haven't had her weighed in a month, so I'd guess she's about 16.5 pounds, there about.
Can't remember how long she is, but at her last appt she was in the 50% for all areas. ( which was a nice improvement as she's always been in the 15-30%)
She doesn't have any teeth yet, and no signs of any coming through. She does get very rosy cheeks and super drooly, so I always think they're coming but nothing so far.
She sits up unassisted, stands holding onto something. Is obsessed with her jolly jumper. Not a huge roller, won't do it often, but can go both ways. She 'back' crawls. She can scoot around really well on her back, but hasn't figured out how to do it on her front yet.
She sleeps from 9pm ( well, this week it's been 8pm) until 7am/8am in her crib. THen I bring her into my bed and feed her and then she sleeps until about 9am. She rarely naps
She eats oatmeal mixed with veggies and then a side of fruit for dinner. We've tried tons of foods, no problems with anything yet. I tried purred chicken and salmon, she hated both those, so I"m sticking with mostly fruits and veggies. I want to try and find more things for her to balance it out, but not sure what else to give.
I'm trying to replace her lunch feed with solids now too so that she gets 2 solid meals a day and then drops down 2 BF sessions. I really want my cycle back so we can start TTC again, so I'm hoping with dropping a lunch feed that maybe it will come back? That way she will BF around 7am/9am/2pm/7pm

I'm technically on mat leave until the end of July, but I'm going to go back early. I'm looking at going back around the end of April. This way my MIL is in town from April - Oct, so we wont' have to worry about daycare. Plus with it being the summer, I have my sister out of school and lots of cousins around who can also help out. Then I can get my 600 hours towards my next mat leave ( I'd need to work for 4 months to get that. ) I'm hoping in the fall a part time position will come up and then I would just work evenings. It will be really hard as I work split shifts ( 630am-1045, 245-915) but I just want to get my mat leave knocked down and then hopefully be on another mat leave before the end of the year

@Mrs D: K is so pretty!! So exciting about your house reno! Keep us posted.

@Alivoo01: OMG how cute is your little man in his sweater one-piece?!

Here's an update from our end:
-M will be 7 months a week from tomorrow...where the hell has time gone?! I seriously can't believe it.
-At her 6 month appointment she was 15lbs 12 oz and 25.75 inches--around 45% for both.
-She's still EBF. We introduced solids at 6 months. She's had oatmeal, sweet potato, squash & carrots. She honestly hasn't loved any of it....kind of a bummer! She'll tolerate a few spoonfuls, but she doesn't love it and more of it gets on her bib than in her mouth. I hope she starts liking it more, soon.
    -She's is 6-9 month clothing.
-M started day care last week. I've been having a hard time with it because she isn't napping well (and sometimes not at all) there. It's super stressful...ugh! I hope she adjusts soon because she naps so well at home. Nighttime sleep is all over the place. She was doing so well and only waking up once to nurse. Then she got a tooth and it's back to being crappy again. I just want her to STTN!!

@StbHisMrs: wow she sounds so advanced with reaching all her milestones!
@Mrs D: I did oat cereal for 3 days then started mixing in food. So far just sweet potato and pear. However, it's not going well at all. I might just stick with cereal awhile longer. She pushes it all out with her tongue and gags if I try to give her anything other than cereal.
@Alivoo01: he is just adorable! Sorry nighttime sleep is so hard
@mdf106: congrats on the house! Sounds like you're getting some good sleep too!
@MrsB2012: whoa! Another mat leave before the end of this year? Our plan, well mostly my plan haha, is to try again this summer and hope for a fall BFP. I'd love our kids to be 1.5-2 years apart!
    I love all the updates!

    L is 6 months.
16 lbs and 26 inches. We are just getting into 6-9m clothing.
She seems close to sitting unassisted but not quite there yet. She rolls easily now and can get quite far around the room rolling and moving around. She sleeps on her tummy now and usually has 3 naps a day. She typically sleeps 7:30-7:30 with 1 or 2 wake ups. She has her first cold now and it's been so awful. She coughs so much she vomits and she is having a hard time eating with her stuffy nose. Like I mentioned, solids aren't going that well but we will keep trying! I go back to work March 17th (3 days a week) for the rest of the school year and then will be off again for the summer. DH will take 11 weeks off with her and our moms will help for a couple weeks and then he is off for the summer too. We are very fortunate with this. She'll start daycare in september.
It's nice to get caught up with everyone, I hope all the August ladies put in an update!

All right! Jumping back in! We just got back from a week in Cuba yesterday, and MAN was it incredible. So, so relaxing, even with K in tow. I love reading everyone's updates...so here we go!

K is 6 months (and one week)
Haven't had her weighed in a while, but I think about 16lbs.
In a mix of 3-6 and 6-9 month clothing, solidly a 6 months in Carters
She crawls. Not up on hands and knees, but enough that she can get around an entire room QUICKLY. Slow down, baby!
She got her two bottom teeth when we were away - and they seemed pretty painless. They're fully through on the bottom, but not enough that I could take a picture of them.
We're getting back into solids now - she's had banana, carrots, rice cereal and baby mum mums cookies (for the plane). We'll start more this week, now that we're back at home.
Sleep is pretty good - she wakes about 2-3 times a night, but sleeps until 8am so I feel rested enough.
I'll post some beach photos when I get them on this computer! Nice to catch up with you all!

@Mrs D: It's SO nice to hear from you! I was wondering where you went, but figured life just got crazy. To answer your question regarding introducing fruits and veggies. We started at 5 1/2 months with rice cereal. Gave that for 2 weeks and then he had carrots on his 6 month birthday. He didn't seem to care for the rice cereal much and most of it ended up on him rather than in him. lol Buuut he LOVED the carrots! He couldn't get enough and kept opening his mouth up wide for more. From that point on every 3 days we would introduce something new. It's been a lot of fun!

    So stats:
    7 months!
    Height: 27 inches
    Weight: 17.5 lbs
Milestones: Rolls over non-stop, sits up unsupported (he does still topple over, but it's after several minutes), and "crawls" backwards, but not forwards just yet.
Foods: 6 oz formula every 3-4 hours except with "meals" he takes 3-4 oz. We give him oatmeal cereal with fruit for breakfast, and then veggies for dinner.
I'm so in love with this little man and watching him grow is amazing!

@Alivoo01: Oh my goodness THAT FACE! I'm sorry nighttime sleep is still crappy. He's lucky he's so cute!

@redsmarties: Glad you had a good time in Cuba! I would love to be on a beach right about now. I saw that video you posted of K on IG crawling. So impressive! Did it happen really fast? I can't believe we have babies old enough to crawl!

@lawbee11: FYI k struggled with napping at daycare too. She takes 1 and 2 hour naps at home and usually struggles to get to 30 mins at daycare. Just in the last week or two she has started hitting the hour mark at daycare and she has been there 2 months full time. It will get better don't worry!

@delight: this is exactly what k does...pushes the good back out with her tongue!!!

    Loving all the updates!!!!

wah, I just have to post. E hardly naps during the day with DH. Getting her to fall asleep at night is torturous; she falls asleep in our arms and you have a 50/50 shot of getting her into the crib while still asleep and sneaking out with her not waking up. If she wakes up she starts screaming. If she stays asleep you have another 50/50 shot of her staying asleep. There have been some nights where she's woken up 10+ times. The thing is, once she's down for the night (eventually) she sleeps soundly through the night without a problem.

If I go in she wants one thing and one thing only from me; boobies! It's completely a comfort thing. DH and I alternate who goes in. He can get her to fall asleep, but again it's only in his arms. There are times when I fall asleep waiting for the next wakeup and he goes in 5+ times. My nipples are raw some nights.

If you put her down in the crib awake she typically screams hysterically and Does Not Stop.

I am a zombie at work as a result; she and DH are still sleeping when I wake up in the morning. There have been times when I feel like I want to drift off while at work, or on the drive home. I'm burning out at a crazy pace.

I bought the Little Einsteins fish tank/aquarium to try and distract her into sleeping, since she likes the FP seahorse but its glow/music time is much too short. I am also trying to change up our schedule so that it's sleep-feed-play-sleep, not sleep-play-feed-sleep.

No point to this all really, I just needed to vent. I managed to get her to take a nap a little while ago by putting her down, dealing with a little bit of crying, and having the fish tank on. I kind of wonder that if DH had turned the fish tank on last night if we wouldn't have had the screamfest. She's been napping up there for a solid hour now.

*I feel like our sleep problems were created by DH's habit of having her fall asleep on him during the day, but I cannot get him to see it*

@StrawberryBee: Ugh, sounds like we have the same baby. She HATES being put to bed with a passion. We tried various methods and then resorted to CIO, because checks just made her madder, and she ended up crying until she threw up. So, CIO is not for us. She's a persistent little thing.

    @Mrs D: So sweet!

@Grace: I offer breastmilk first. She wakes up from her morning nap, has a boob, then we move to the high chair to see if she's interested in any additional solids. She's 7 months now, and we're doing mostly BLW, so it took her a bit to figure out to grab her food herself, but now she's pretty pro.

    Our stats:
    Seven Months tomorrow!
17 lbs (at 6 month appt)
    26.5"
Has had lots of various solids. Doing BLW with a mix of some purees if we're out and about and we don't have any food allergies in our family, so she eats lots of stuff. She's had turkey meatballs, roast beef, chicken breast, brocoli, peas, prunes, green beans, mango, blueberries, pears, peaches, apples, banana, avocado, sweet potato, regular potato, a little bit of bread, cheerios, spinach, kale, spaghetti, salmon, yogurt, rice cereal and oatmeal.
Superstore Brand formula, just for mixing with cereals
In a mix of her 3-6 month and 6-12 month stuff.
Baths in the baby tub inside the real tub still
Eats about 5-6 times a day
    3 naps
Still terrible about going down at night. Typically goes to bed way later than she should. Not usually until 9:30, sometimes even 11 on a bad night. And then wakes up way more than I'd like.
    Has one bottom tooth

@Sapphiresun: I'm so sorry to hear someone else going through this, but at the same time (please don't take this the wrong way) what a relief to have someone else to commiserate with! Makes me feel like not so much a failure. It doesn't help that everyone keeps telling me that I need to just let her cry because it will set up bad behaviors for later if we keep 'saving' her. My mommy heart just can't let her scream herself hoarse. That happened last night and she's not her usual self today :(.

I am so impressed with your solids list!! We really need to get on that. I have frozen blueberries in the freezer I need to do something with.

@StrawberryBee: yeah I don't really know what to do about her. I've read these no cry solutions that suggest calming her by patting or shushing but not picking up. Umm no. My baby will not be calmed by any method that's not picking her up. It just makes her more irate if one of us is in the room but not picking her up. We did a pick up put down for two hours before I finally decided it was likely she is hungry since now it has been a long time since her feed. Then the book said it should progressively get shorter but the next night was three hours.
I moved her bassinet that she liked to fall asleep in before inside her crib and that kiiiiiiinda helped. So I'm hoping she'll get used to the view from there and then be able to fall asleep in the crib before she outgrows the bassinet. But really, I just end up cosleeping with her most of the time and hoping that when she's ready she'll just go to her own bed one day.

@StrawberryBee:@Sapphiresun: That sounds rough. I wish there was just some sort if magic fix for sleeping. Part of me is pretty convinced it's developmental. I was going insane trying to get her to fall asleep for naps and it was getting harder and harder. One day, I was at my wits end, so left her to cry, she howled for 10 min and then fell asleep. And then the next day, I put her in awake, she rolled over and went to sleep. I will never understand baby sleep.

Solids are fun! I was overthinking it, I think. Since it takes time to get her food together, she almost always gets BM about an hour before she eats. So far, she isn't too impressed with the eating. I've been giving her food with lumps and I think she thinks they are weird. The faces are hilarious.

Oh, and she started army crawling!!! It's so cute. I show her with my phone and she "chases" me all over the place. And sometimes she gets right up on her knees and rocks. It's amazing to see how quickly she is mastering it.

@Sapphiresun: "Umm no. My baby will not be calmed by any method that's not picking her up." yes, this. exactly. I gave in tonight and nursed her to nap. I hadn't eaten anything in terms of a real meal yet today and just didn't have the energy to deal with putting her down, listening to her scream, picking her up, repeat ten times.

She' stirring right now. Sometimes we luck out and she finds her thumb and falls right back to sleep. Sometimes it's full on awake and unhappy.

@Grace: so jealous of all these mobile babies!

@StrawberryBee:@Sapphiresun: Another mommy here that can (sadly) commiserate on a LO with terrible nighttime sleep habits (aka wakes up numerous times) and cannot be consoled unless he's picked up or boob is in mouth... Sigh.... I'm so ready for him to "outgrow" this phase so mommy can get some sleep. Honestly, my body is probably so used to the numerous wake ups that when (and whenever that when maybe...) he decides to STTN, I'll probably still wake up constantly. Efffff

    @Grace: army crawling?! How cute!!!

@Sapphiresun: when you do BLW, how do you cut up/present her with the food? I'm always struggling on how to do that with DS. Give him the whole thing vs how to cut it up and it not be a choking hazard.

@Alivoo01: It really depends what it is. We do a little bit of combined with purees, so she does sometimes get those, especially if I want to introduce a leafy food that's not easily presented in BLW (Kale, spinach). I cut most things into fingers, or choose things that are naturally stick like. Sometimes a variation of what we're having for dinner, sometimes her own meal. If I make us pancakes, I make ours normal, and hers in a strip. Meatballs same thing. We get round, and I'll make a few that's more of a finger for her. If we have something like a taco, I'll pull out a suitable piece of ground beef before I throw the seasoning on it for her. Other meats I just cut against the grain so it's easy for her to rip. Things that are typically eaten with a spoon or as a sauce I either just spoon onto her tray (she hasn't figured out dippers or really even just licking it off her fingers yet, so I don't go overboard with this, just like a half teaspoon as an option), or I'll spread it onto her toast or meat before I give it to her. She loves a little tomato sauce or blueberry juice on her bread.

I attached a photo that's a decent example - please ignore the messy house. But I grated some cheese for our dinner, for her I kind of squeezed some back together into a stick. Broccoli I reserve as much of the "handle" as possible, and is her favourite. She eats a lot of green beans, blueberries I kind of squish. This day I offered her a chicken wing with all the skin pulled off, but it wasn't really a hit.
