I got my VBAC, and what an amazing feeling it is! My contractions started Friday morning but were irregular and about 15 min apart. I knew I wasn't in active labor, so I went about my day as usual. I had a prenatal appointment at 3pm and found out I was 3cm dilated and 80% effaced, but the doctor couldn't tell me if I would be having a baby soon. Contractions were spreading further apart, so I decided to go to bed at 10:30pm. A little after 1am I woke up to painful contractions that were 5 min apart. My husband and I called his mom to come stay at our house with our son, and we went to the hospital. We got there at 2:30, and I was having contractions 3 minutes apart. I was 4cm dilated and 90% effaced. They admitted me to a room where the contractions kept getting stronger and more painful. I knew I needed an epidural. I felt like my uterus was being stabbed by knives. It was around 4am when the epidural was placed, and I got relief! Epidural are awesome! I was 7cm dilated by 4:30am. By 6:30am, I was 9cm dilated. I was fully dilated by around 9am, but baby wasn't at a good station for pushing. The doctor wanted him to be at +2 and he was between a 0 and +1. I waited for what felt like forever for him to drop down. Finally at 12:30pm, he was at +2, so I started pushing with the guidance of my nurse and doctor. It took 1.5 hours, but I pushed him out! He was in a great position, not posterior like his brother. Our son's name is Nathaniel and he is 8 pounds 14 ounces and 19.5 inches long! We're so in love with him. Benefits of the VBAC for me include not feeling any pain afterward (I only tore a tiny bit by my labia) and I get to go home tomorrow! This recovery has been a breeze so far.

Whew! What a day! I did not get my VBAC, but it wasn't for lack of trying! I had regular contractions all day Friday, and they picked up and got painful around 11pm. I called my midwife at midnight. She told me to get rest and call her when the contractions were 3-4 mins apart. I called her back at 4:15 am. She told me to meet her at 4:45 at the bith center. I was only 2 cm, but 90% effaced. She let me stay and gave me nubain to try to let me get some sleep. Which was awesome. I slept for two hours and woke up to more painful contrax. She sent my husband and I out walking. 1.5 hours later I was still a two. She told us our choice was stay and shed break my water or go home and labor. We picked staying and she broke my water, I immediately went to a 4! To not make this any longer, it took me 4 more hours to get to a 5. We did every natural labor trick in the book. Walking, squats, baby sifting, birth ball, etc. no luck, no progress. Finally at 8:30 pm she checked me again. No change and my cervix was starting to swell. She said in her opinion it was time to transfer, as swollen cervixes don't usually un-swell. Baby also hadn't descended past a -2. She said it had nothing to do with my VBAC status and this sort of thing would always result in a section. To be honest, I wasn't too upset. I didn't give up and I'd never want to endanger me or baby.
My hospital transfer was wonderful! No one gave me a hard time about wanting to VBAC at a birth center.
Baby girl (who has yet to be named) arrived at 10:17pm. 9lb110z, 21 inches long. We are all healthy and happy!
