    So the whole not crying thing? Ha! I totally lost it before bed last night! After our date night, DH got all serious and looked me in the eye and thanked me for growing and carrying our daughter these last 37 weeks, saying how amazing I am. What a shock! So sweet! then thinking about that before bed I realized that she isn't going to be inside me anymore and my little buddy won't be my constant companion. . . And tears, so many tears and running nose and sobbing and total mess! DH came rushing in, and all I could say was "I have so many emotions!" oh, end of pregnancy fun times!

    @aprild: So exciting!! My section is booked for the 12th if she hasn't arrived by then. Let's hope babies decide to show on their own before that

    @Mrs. Microscope: Aww! Sweet hubby.

    @Mrs.Chocolate: welcome!!

    @Mrs. Microscope: that is so sweet!! I would totally have melted too.

    I'm finally feeling like we are in a good place for baby's arrival- nursery is organized (not totally decorated yet as still need curtains and artwork but those are in process), baby has diapers/wipes, clean clothes, etc. DD's infant car seat has been washed (just needs to be put back together and installed). I ordered the last few items off of our family/friend registry and bought some postpartum supplies. I even managed a haircut and a pedicure yesterday And the cleaning people are coming tomorrow- haha! So all we need is the baby. Oh and a name

    So, when do you guys time contractions? I've been Crampy all day, but most of them just feel like period cramps. I don't want to over react, but I don't want to miss it either. I mean, I know eventually its un-mistakable but if this is early labor I'd like to actually be getting ready for the baby not decluttering the closet. Note: the closet decluttering was a planned event, not a manic nesting session.

    I hit 35 weeks today and I had heavy bleeding and contractions this morning. I have a complete previa so blood is very concerning. I am at the hospital now and I am hooked up to an IV, the bleeding has slowed down and I got a shot of Terbutaline to slow my contractions. I am waiting for an ultrasound and the Drs will decide what to do after that. FX!

    @Mrs. Microscope: this is so sweet.

    I've been pretty irrationally emotional lately, too. I'm aware of it but doesn't make it any easier!! I kind of had a freak out about the name we've chosen this past week and was just crying about how I didn't know what we should name him and basically told DH I decided that I hate the name. Which isn't exactly true but I have just been feeling really conflicted about how we aren't naming him after my dad and I'll regret it if our second LO isn't a boy. Sigh.

    As I newbie to all of this, I feel like whenever people talk about being pregnant, they are talking about the last month. I have been pretty fine up until the last few weeks but now I am just an uncomfortable and anxious mess.

    @Mrs. Microscope: That was so sweet! I probably would have cried too.

    @abmamma: Sounds like you're ready! Here's hoping your baby come soon.

    @OhCaptain: I have no idea when to start timing them. With my first, my water broke before contractions started, so that's how I knew I was definitely in labor. I think if that doesn't happen this time, I'll probably wait until I'm either in a lot of pain or the contractions have been happening for a while. I don't want to be the patient that shows up at the hospital just to be sent back home again.

    @autumnlove: Oh no! Keep us posted.

    @OhCaptain: My early labour felt like bad period cramps. I noticed that they were happening in a pattern and then took a shower/had some water and layed down for a rest. Since they continued, that's when I started timing them.

    @autumnlove: Thinking about you!!

    I have to stay overnight for monitoring and a high risk Dr. will visit me in the morning to discuss delivery options. The on call Dr. thinks I should go on bed rest in the hospital until delivery at 36.5-37 weeks but he says the high risk Dr. will have the final say.
    They did a test to see if my water broke and it is still intact. The baby is doing well and my fluid levels are ok but my placenta is still is the same position and it covers my cervix completely.

    I didn't have a bag packed (duh) and I feel so unprepared!

    Sending all the August moms and moms to be lots of !

    @autumnlove: Obviously this isn't funny, but I have to laugh a little, since we were just lamenting how we couldn't wait for August!!! DH's work knows to over shedule in August (he's a chef) and they scheduled him off shift (WITHOUT EVEN ASKING) in 2 weeks because no one else can work saucier. And he said "wouldn't it be hilarious if you went into labor that morning???" Timing is always interesting!!!!!! In all seriousness- glad water is intact and you guys are ok- keep us updated!!!!!!! Thinking of you! I'm sure it's hard to be away from your girls.

    So, these "cramps" contractions? Are coming more frequently. But they still feel like period cramps, although more severe. I'm hesitant to say I'm in labor, or even early labor as my body did this for three days with my son. Every evening I'd have timeable cramps, and id go to bed, assuming I'd only have a few hours before active labor picked up, and next thing I knew it was morning and they were gone. I know that it can be different each time. And we are ready.
    Except not! My husband is putting my son to bed and what if this is it and I didn't know? And I didn't get to tell him that mommy loves him one last time? Freaking hormones. Also, my bag isn't packed.

  27. getjazzy

    persimmon / 1179 posts

    @OhCaptain: Go snuggle him a bit in his sleep! I would say if they are getting stronger, this could be the real deal. Have you tried taking a bath or shower and drinking water to rule out anything else? Get hubs to finish up your bags and relax, it's ok to be emotional but your LO knows you love him!

    Had my 39 week appointment today and opted for a check out of curiosity. 1-2 cm, 25% effaced, high cervix ... Was pretty uncomfortable, but not unbearable. I guess I'll spend some more quality time bouncing away on my yoga ball this week.

    I'm calling this "prodromal" labor. Acts like labor, but isn't. My contractions are not getting "longer, stronger, faster." Rather staying the same and are all over the board for frequency.

    I just need to rant to rant for a moment. Dh's parents came over on Saturday for a visit with dh's nephew (they were babysitting) we weren't told he was coming with them and after 20 minutes it was apparent nephew was sick - by that time he'd been playing with all of lo's toys etc. Lo developed a runny nose yesterday but that seems to be gone thankfully but today dh and I feel rotten, dh is even being sent home from work early tonight because he feels terrible. Dh's parents knew their grandson had been sick for several days and still bought him over. I'm 39 weeks and really don't want to deal with this! I know it's in no way nephews fault for being sick, but I'm annoyed at in-laws for knowingly bringing sickness into our house at this stage of pregnancy! Argh! Rant over.

    And the When To Expect website predicted wrong for me

    Ugh I sooooo do not want to go into work today. Monday's are the hardest. 38 Wks tomorrow. I've been trying to push myself til the end bc I know I'll be kicking myself when it's time to go back to work that I didn't use all my leave to spend with my daughter, but man this is hard. All weekend my knees and ankles have been hurting and my feet have been swollen, they never really went down. And now I have to go work in a kitchen all day.

    Sorry I'm extra whiny on Mondays!!!

    @Autumnlove oh wow, scary!! Thinking of you and baby, I hope everything turns out ok! Glad your doctors are keeping a close eye on you.

    @OhCaptain I totally feel you on the pain of the prodromal/early labor or whatever it is. For the last 2 weeks I have had several occasions lasting from 3 to 6 or 7 hours where I have painful contractions every 5-10 minutes, and very bad cramping pain (like the worst period I've ever had - in my back, wrapping to my front, down my thighs etc). Every time it happens I think "this is it!", but then it fizzles out! It is frustrating and exhausting because it often keeps me awake at night. I will be 36 weeks tomorrow and the thought of dealing with that for potentially another month...well, I don't want to think about it. I hope for you it means you will meet your baby soon!

    @buttermilk Complain away! I feel so bad for you having to work on your feet all day. I physically don't think I could do it at this point. Would your ob/midwife be willing to write you a note for work to get you off a little early? Or at least to modify your job duties, like sitting on a stool or something? Hang in there!

    Anyone else suffering with the pregnancy insomnia? I am so exhausted all the time but will still be up in the middle of the night for hours - just uncomfortable, a lot of contractions, etc. I'm so over it, I just want to be able to get a good night's sleep!!

  38. cat620

    pear / 1809 posts

    @OhCaptain: Did the contractions fade away eventually? How are you feeling?

    @MrsStar: I would find that super annoying! I wouldn't want a sick kid around me, DH or my child let alone when I'm about to have a baby! What if you're sick while being in labor? Or if your child is sick when you bring a new baby home? Hopefully, everyone starts feeling better soon!

    @buttermilk: I feel for you and everyone else who is still working at this stage in pregnancy. I'm sure it's not easy! I get tired just being home with my toddler all day, but at least I can put my feet up or rest while he's napping.

    @MrsADS: I wouldn't say I have insomnia, but I don't get great sleep at night, since I'm up to use the bathroom a few times, plus I have to keep repositioning myself to feel comfortable. I just take it as preparation for when the baby comes. If I'm used to getting up multiple times per night now, then it won't be such a shocking transition later on.

    I made it through the weekend with no baby! I was able to get a lot done around the house, like sorting baby clothes, organizing the nursery and spending quality time with DS. I still have more to do, so I'll try to get that done this week.

    I have a few questions I thought of to ask my doctor or midwife about labor, but my next appointment isn't until Friday. I don't feel like my questions warrant a phone call, but now I keep thinking, what if I go into labor before Friday and then I won't have the answer to my questions? It's so annoying how I always think of something to ask about after my appointment.

    Water broke this morning! On our way to the hospital to have them evaluate me now. No contractions yet but hoping something kicks in soon!
