@buttermilk: I just started breaking out too! First trimester was crappy skin, then beautiful skin until yesterday . I hope it means the end is near!

@buttermilk: @Mrs. Microscope: You're both having girls right? I am too, and had awful skin first tri, nice skin second and most of third, and now it's a disaster again! Definitely must be some end of pregnancy hormonal stuff!

@buttermilk: I didn't know that about progesterone! And literally 10 minutes before checking this board I realized i have a zit by my nose. Hahaha

@abmamma: I'm not doing any freezer meals. DH doesn't like to eat leftovers or food that isn't fresh, so it would literally just be me eating the food. With my last baby, DH got takeout for lunch and dinner, and we ate cereal for breakfast. I think that's what we'll do again. It's not the most economical way to eat, but that's what keeps him happy and is the least amount of work too.
@buttermilk: So far my skin is still looking good, but that could change quickly. I am prone to having a few pimples, so I love this clear pregnancy skin!

I had my 37 week and 4 day appointment today. I'm not sure if they count it as a 37 or 38 week appointment, since it falls in the middle. Everything looked great! They checked my weight, blood pressure and listened to baby. I haven't gained any weight since last week, but I'm okay with that, since I feel like I've gained enough. I also found out I tested negative for GBS! So, that's one less thing to worry about during labor. I opted to skip the cervical check. I've actually never had one, except for when I was in labor last time. I was talking to a friend who said her cervical checks are very painful. Is this how it was for you guys? If it hurts, that's even more reason for me to skip.
persimmon / 1179 posts
@aprild: I would say uncomfortable but not painful unless it's a membrane sweep, those aren't very pleasant.
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
@aprild: Sounds exactly like my 37 week appointment a couple days ago (no weight gain, GBS negative, etc.). And I've never had cervical checks either and don't plan on it since I'm having a c-section. Some people say they hurt and some say they don't. For ME, I know I would hate them because I have trouble getting paps without freaking out.

I'm GBS negative, too! Woot!
Has anyone else been nesting? I woke up pretty energized this morning and have been cleaning the house pretty much allllll day. It's so odd considering I was exhausted the past two days because I had trouble falling and staying asleep in addition to waking up to pee twice an hour ...
There's also a typhoon on the way tonight, so I get to experience increased barometric pressure ... And also spend the night/day at the hospital with a whole bunch of other 37+ week pregnant ladies (and snoring husbands) camping out in cots and air mattresses ...

@Mizhi: I feel like I've been nesting this whole pregnancy but now that I'm in the last month I have been extra lazy and exhausted. However, DH and I have plans to give the house a deep cleaning this wknd in anticipation of baby! Oh man, what if you go into labor from the storm!?
persimmon / 1179 posts
@Mizhi: Do you really get to go stay at the hospital on cots? I go through phases of nesting followed by extreme exhaustion days so I don't think I'm at the final nesting stage yet! With my first, I got the urge to scrub my baseboards hahahaha.

I get my GBS a test today at my appt. Ok am I totally remembering this wrong or do they swab your butt for it???
nectarine / 2262 posts
I was up for 3 hours in the middle of the night with pretty intense, frequent contractions that HURT. I was thinking this is gonna be it. But then I was able to go back to sleep!! Still having a few contractions on and off this morning but nothing like last night.
Baby really needs a few more weeks to cook (only 35w now), but this false labor stuff has got to go... either go into labor, or don't! It's making me crazy, not to mention exhausted.
coffee bean / 46 posts
@Buttermilk: That's why we are "strongly advised" to go shelter at the hospital during typhoons ... Otherwise if someone were to go into labor during the typhoon an armored humvee would have to pick you up! Which would make for a great story, but it probably wouldn't be a very comfortable ride ...
@GetJazzy: Yep, cots or air mattresses, apparently. It looks like the typhoon's not supposed to be bad until sometime tomorrow morning so I'll be spending the day there. I don't know why I'm not sleeping already. It's past 11 here!

@Mizhi: Wow! I hope everyone stays safe and baby hangs on until after the storm passes!
kiwi / 641 posts
@Mizhi: wow! Hope you all make it through the storm safely. It'll be interesting if the barometric pressure has an impact on all the expecting mamas!
I'm working from home today since my 37 week appointment is in a few hours and I gotta say, it's pretty glorious! I had to have DH pick me up from the metro station yesterday as I could not face the uphill walk home with all my work stuff. And it wasn't even as hot as it has been!! I'm pretty close to being physically done I think!
nectarine / 2086 posts
@kjpugs: I had to swab my own lady bits for my GBS test which I can't decide if that was better or worse than her doing it lol.
@Mizhi: that's crazy! Good luck!!!
@MrsADS: it's so crazy how different everyone's pregnancies are. I feel so bad you've been put through the ringer already, meanwhile I still have no idea what a contraction even feels like!
nectarine / 2086 posts
@lilteacherbee: how many days do you have left now? Gotta be under 10 right? Eeeek!

Great appt! you know it's getting close when you have to take off your pants haha. GBS swab was NOT as awkward as I remember. Head is down and everything looks good. And I asked about the water breaking thing, he said for our practice they do want you to come in fairly soon just to make sure baby is handling cord compression from the contractions, but they don't have a 24 hour rule. He said they give antibiotics at 18 hours but past that as long as the baby has no issues and there are no signs of infection you can labor as normal. He said he's seen it go as long as 36 hours after water breaking. So glad I asked instead of going off what one person told me years ago!!!

@buttermilk: BETTER! I did my own with my first pregnancy, and for this one the OB did it and it was much better when I did it myself lol!
@kjpugs: Glad you had a good appointment!

37 week appointment done! Gbs negative woo! No dilation. Moving on to next week!
kiwi / 641 posts
Good appointment here as well! GBS negative. Also sounds like the baby's dropped- ob didn't use that term but last week they said his head was still pretty high and today she said it was down low/up against my cervix. Still at 1cm and about 50% effaced.

@Mrs. Microscope: @abmamma: @Mizhi: congrats on your negative results! I wish I was the same but I'm just trying to think positively and I know it's unlikely my water will break first!

@mizhi: so crazy!! thinking of you!
I have my GBS test on Tuesday - hope it goes well but as nothing else has been an issue I won't be heartbroken if it's positive. Started taking bets with my two sisters on when baby will come as it seems like he dropped earlier this week (!!) But not going to get my hopes up. I'm only 35 weeks today and him arriving at 39 weeks would be so awesome.

Anyone else not having any symptoms/signs of labor at this point? I'm 38+3 today and haven't had even the slightest contraction, no nesting urges, nothing. I don't think the baby has really dropped yet either. I'm starting to think maybe she's nice and cozy in there and has no plans of coming out on her own any time soon! I'm still really hoping she decides to come on her own before my RCS scheduled for 8/4.

Okay as soon as I posted that I did get a short, mild BH contraction but that's the most I've felt in quite some time.
kiwi / 696 posts
@Mrs.Scientist: I wouldn't say I'm having none. But my symptoms are so, so random, no regularity at all. My RCS won't be until the 15th, but yesterday I was thinking about how much more convenient it would be to have one. I'd know when to make day care plans, I'd know when we HAD to have everything ready. I want a VBAC, so I'll be patient, but I totally get the appeal of a RCS.

@buttermilk: close, 11!! My BFF's baby shower is tomorrow and when I was sending out the invites last month, I remember thinking that I'd only have 10 days left on the day of her shower! Whaaaaat?!
@Mrs.Scientist: I'm not feeling anything either. With LO, I had my c-section at 39+4 and had no signs of labor at all. This time, I'll be 39+3. I kinda don't even know what to expect if I were to go into labor early!!
@Mizhi: Stay safe!!!
nectarine / 2086 posts
@Mrs.Scientist: yeah no signs for me either! I had that one day of cramping at the beach last wknd but other than that, nada! I wish she would come, I want to kiss those little feet that keep kicking me in the ribs!
@lilteacherbee: so soooon! Have fun at the shower

Y'all, I'm an emotional, hormonal mess today. First of all, 3 years ago today is when we found out we lost our first baby (missed miscarriage at 9 weeks). I still think about it a lot, but with less sadness because I wouldn't have these 2 babies, etc. But today, it's hitting me kinda hard and all those emotions are coming back
Also, DH is taking our toddler with him to his parents' house for the night. I've been away from him overnight before, but he's always been at my mom's and almost every time, I've put him to bed before we left. And I was fine. For some reason, it's harder this time. They just left and I may have cried for a few minutes before pulling myself together. I don't know how I'm going to handle leaving him with my mom the night before the c-section if I'm a hot mess right now haha. Yay hormones.
pear / 1955 posts
@lilteacherbee: I'm a hormonal mess, and for much worse reasons - DH forgot to put toilet paper in our downstairs bathroom, and I cried for approx. 10 minutes out of frustration this morning. It'll be okay, mama, you'll get through it!
@Mizhi: Hope your night at the hospital goes well - maybe it'll be a good chance to meet other pregnant women and organize some play dates for next month? Haha!
Here's my update for the week - iron, platelets, and hemoglobin are still all low, so I'll be doing two iron infusions (did the first this morning and I'll have another on Monday morning) in a last ditch effort to get them up before delivery. My blood pressure creeps a little too high any time I do any activity though, so the plan right now is to induce on Thursday (I'll be 38w4d.) They'll call on Wednesday night (which happens to be our wedding anniversary!) to schedule the induction time - eeeeek!

@lilteacherbee: I fully expect to be a hot blubbering mess when I saw goodbye to my son to go have this baby.
hang in there today!

@raspberries: aaaahhhhhh!!!! So soon! So real! Hopefully the transfusions work!
nectarine / 2262 posts
Cannot believe so many babies will be here so soon!!! Ahhh exciting (and scary, lol!).
Also I am kind of jealous of all of you who haven't had contractions/cramping/etc. ... I am exhausted and uncomfortable and contracting all the time and so over it! And it's my 1st, so I have no idea if it means I'm going into labor soon or if this is just going to be my norm for the next month! Well, in the end it will all be worth it.
I want to clean the house and organize baby stuff but I'm too tired... lol.
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@Mrs.Scientist: nothing really here. I didn't with DD1 either, except feeling a little "weird" a few days before (but I don't know if I'd even call them anything, MAYBE BH?) Any pain/issues I've had this time have been my back/hips, or IBS/RLP related (or at least per my "expert" self diagnosis, haha.)
@lilteacherbee: so sorry to hear about your "anniversary." Thinking of you today!
@MrsADS: I don't know how you deal with it!!!!!!!! I'm always thinking of you!!!!!!
@raspberries: SQUEEEEEEEE baby so so so soon!
