@Mrs.Scientist: I haven't had too much yet either. A few contractions here or there but nothing noteworthy. Although enough to maybe start some type of progress, hopefully!

@MrsADS: I am so sorry you've had such a rough time. I hope things resolve themself one way or the other soon! I can only imagine how exhausted you must be.

@lilteacherbee: the hormones are for real! Sorry it has been a hard day for you. I also think I am going to be a mess when it comes time to go to the hospital/leave DD. We've left her overnight with grandparents before but I think the whole notion of her world changing (hopefully for the better!) will be enough to get me going. I sometimes get emotional thinking about the changes that are to come for her/saying goodbye to our family of 3...even though I am obviously over the moon about becoming a family of 4!!

@raspberries: hope the transfusions help!! I can't believe you only have a week to go...

@lilteacherbee: lots of hugs mama, hang in there!

@raspberries: I feel your pain. I just cried my way through a 10 minute argument with DH about weather to get pizza or tacos for dinner. I KNOW I'm being crazy but I feel like I can't help it!

I hate when the page moves ahead and I can't remember who all to respond to! Pregnancy brain? Lol.

@lilteacherbee: I totally understand pregnancy hormones! I'm also feeling emotional lately, but not so much sad, mostly frustrated or overwhelmed by all the stuff I feel like I need to do before baby comes. I think I've been snippy toward DH, but he understands that the end of pregnancy is not easy!

@raspberries: Good luck with the induction! I'm sure you're excited to meet your baby.

I don't know if it's just because I'm tired of being pregnant at this point, but I find myself feeling more irritable than usual. Like tonight, my husband invited his parents and brother over to hang out. Well, everyone came with the intention to get drunk! His dad and brother were chugging beers, and his mom, who usually doesn't drink, was sipping on a giant rum drink. I was sitting there drinking water and feeling very left out. I'm not a big drinker, but it's irritating me right now that everyone was getting tipsy in front of me while I just sat and watched. Has anyone else felt like that?

@aprild: I'm more irritable if I have to pee, or I'm hungry, so pretty much all the time.

@aprild: I'm definitely more irritable but trying really hard to keep it under wraps because it annoys me so much when people say "pregnancy hormones!" Or "baby brain" as if my feelings aren't valid!

It sounds like everyone is having an interesting time with contractions. I've been having BH for ages now but nothing painful. The only weird thing is sometimes I feel like my cervix hurts, and it gets sore or has little shooting pains. Does anyone else get that?

  7. MrsStar

    nectarine / 2994 posts

@aprild: Definitely more irritable here! it's been happening the past few weeks though, there's been several days when I just wake up in a bad mood and it lasts the whole day.

Currently irritated at hubby though because we went out to do groceries this after noon and I was looking forward to relaxing on the couch afterwards since my hips hurt but he declared there was no chance of him cooking dinner so I needed to sort it. Argh. I hoped that being 39 weeks (tomorrow!) would get me some pampering but apparently not. Silly thing to be irritated about I know.

Also, since I woke this morning it has felt like someone kicked me in the lady-parts, I'm guessing it's baby's head sitting so low.

Anyone else dealing with huge amounts of discharge? Seriously keep thinking I peed myself haha

Well, we didn't have to go to the hospital! The typhoon was a total troll and decided to turn NNW and graze the island. I spent all of last night waking up to my phone alarm to check to see if the conditions warranted making the trip to the hospital and all of today stuck indoors for the same reason! Ugh, so annoyed! And now I can't decide what I want for dinner ...

    nectarine / 2086 posts

@Mizhi: oh goodie! glad you're safe

@kitty: @OhCaptain: @MrsStar: @aprild: the worst thing happened last night. DH wanted to go to this very chill outdoor concert that is only 3 blocks from our house and we had free tickets. Normally I'd be down but at 37.5 Wks even that sounds like too much to me after working all day. So I whined about it most of the afternoon but finally pulled myself together and got dressed. We walked there and sat down on a blanket with some friends. They offered me a chair but I declined. Then this rando guy was like "yeah you might as well sit on the ground to get prepared for how hard being a mom is. That's all my wife talks about. She is home with the baby and I'm out here drinking and I'm just gonna take my time tonight and tell her the traffic was bad on the way home." (Um, what a dickwad!) I ignored him but by the time my friend asked me "how are you, you must be so ready to have this baby" I just started balling! I don't even know why exactly but I got sooooooo embarrassed and had to excuse myself and left DH behind. I was such a crying pregnant mess I just called my mom and walked all the way home sobbing. Haha, apparently pregnancy hormones are NO JOKE! I watched The Fault in our Stars when I got home so at least I would have a valid reason to be crying lol.

    pear / 1809 posts

@OhCaptain: Haha, that's all the time for me too.

@kitty: I haven't noticed pain in my cervix, but that could mean the baby has dropped down. Have you had a cervical check to see if anything is happening?

@MrsStar: I expect some pampering at this point. You only have a few days left before baby comes, so enjoy the time you have to relax! I would have told my hubby if he wasn't cooking, we were eating out! I haven't noticed a ton of discharge, just a little mucus.

@Mizhi: That sounds like a good thing! I wouldn't want to be super pregnant and stuck in a typhoon. Glad everything is okay.

@buttermilk: Wow, that guy sounds awful! I would hate to be his wife. I mean, she just had a baby. Of course she's going to say being a mom is hard. He sounds very unsupportive.

I've always been that way, but when I'm pregnant it's worse.

@kitty: Definitely get that, "lightning crotch" as I think it's affectionately (or not so much) known in the pregnant world. It's uncomfortable!!

@Mizhi: So glad the storm missed you. It sucks that it had you on eggshells though! Hopefully smooth sailing until baby now.

@buttermilk: That guy sounds like a total LOSER husband and father. Gotta love the pregnancy hormones. I'm like.. 100% positive I'm going to cry my whole labour about DS not being an only child anymore, and not taking more pictures with him while pregnant, or reading him one last story or WHATEVER my brain comes up with. I cried when I was in labour with DS because my parents came to get my dog and they left during a contraction so I didn't get to say goodbye to her lol. I actually ended up over at their place before I delivered anyway so I got to see her, but I was irrationally super upset about it!

39 weeks today!!! I can't believe it. 34 weeks ago I thought the first tri would never end! We are spending the weekend nesting. We finally moved our master bedroom (and DS's) to the basement and our guest room to our son's room but only the big furniture. Now we need to move our stuff and I can FINALLY set up this babies little nursery corner. Our friend is lending us a Moses basket, so we will probably not put the crib up right away. My goal is to have all of that finished this weekend and then on Monday I'll pack our hospital bag and then we will be "ready!"
I also think I had my first real painful contraction last night. It hurt more than the light period like cramping I've been having, but it was just a one time deal.

  14. abmamma

    kiwi / 641 posts

@MrsStar: I've definitely been having a lot more discharge. So bad one day I was concerned my water had broken/was leaking. My OB said it was normal as your cervix starts to thin out.

    @kitty: I definitely get the cervix pain/pressure!

@buttermilk: sorry that last night was a wash! That guy sounds awful. Glad it was near enough to your house that you could go home and relax!

  15. Mrs. Microscope

    pear / 1788 posts

@MrsStar: yes to more discharge! I keep thinking my water is leaking, but it's not... My.doctor said it's sweat and regular discharge. At least I'm not leaking urine

@kitty: yes to the cervix pain! I hope.it's.doing something productive, but I had no dilation or effacement at my exam yesterday, so who knows! I have faith it's practicing at least!

@aprild: sorry about the drinking party! That would have made me mad too!

@buttermilk: jerk! Glad you removed yourself from the situation and had a quiet night to yourself. I haven't been crying much recently, but it might be around the corner! I'm more anxious about safe baby delivery than anything else... My doctor told me to stop reading books and ignore the late losses here on Hb. Easier said than done!

  16. buttermilk

    nectarine / 2086 posts

@getjazzy: Awww I would have totally cried about my dog too! Who knows, I'll probably cry through labor as well. I have a Hypnobabies "visualize your birth" track I listen to and I always cry through it hahaha.

@OhCaptain: fun! we are nesting too this wknd, although it's more like forcing myself to clean the house

@MrsStar: I've noticed teensy clear jello looking discharge which I guess is the mucus plug but not in large quantities.

@Mrs. Microscope: yeah just think positively! Hypnobabies teaches you about your "bubble of peace" and so I have to use that all the time when I get anxious about labor.

I'm so excited! I think we've decided to name DD's middle name after my mom (also happens to be my middle name). I know when we had DS, we avoided naming after a direct grandparent because my DH felt bad naming after my side and not his, and I refused basically to name after his lol.

Since we had DS, the ILs have made zero effort to be close to him in any real way meanwhile my parents are doing everything they can to see him several times a week and be a huge part of his life so we want the honour that.

So we don't have a first name but I feel like we are making progress!!

@Torchwood: I will be 39 weeks Monday with #2 so we'll see what happens! I have had a few nights of false alarm type pains but no real deal. So glad to hear things are going well with you.

    pear / 1809 posts

@OhCaptain: Good luck with all the nesting! I plan to spend most of tomorrow finishing up the nursery and cleaning, but I've had a hard time finding energy, so hopefully tomorrow will be a good day.

@getjazzy: That sounds sweet. I'm sure your mom will like that you're honoring her. We didn't use family names for DS, and we probably won't for this baby either. There's really no one on my side or DH's side that I can think of as being worthy of having our child named after them. That probably sounds mean, and we actually have a good relationship with most family members, but I wouldn't call anyone a perfect role model.

I forgot to mention this earlier, but at my last appointment, I was measuring at 36 weeks even though I was 37 weeks and 4 days. The midwife wasn't concerned and said it might be a good thing for the baby to be a little smaller since I'm trying for a VBAC and my first baby was rather large (8 pounds 15 ounces). However, I still thought it was odd to be measuring almost 2 weeks behind. Has anyone else had a measurement that wasn't equal to how many weeks you were?

  21. getjazzy

    persimmon / 1179 posts

@aprild: I haven't measured behind. I've been right on however, with my first I measured ahead the whole time and DS was 8lbs5oz, so I hope your theory is right in regards to the smaller baby and VBAC for me too!

I will say that my OBs have said they don't usually even look in to growth concerns until the baby is measuring min 2-3 weeks in either direction because of the margin of error with fundal measurements vs baby's position and stuff.

  24. cat620

    pear / 1809 posts

@getjazzy: That makes sense. The midwife did say the baby could have been positioned in a weird way that made the measurement smaller. I also heard that different people can take different measurements of the same belly. So at my appointment from two weeks ago, they had someone who was training take the measurement, and that one measured on time.

  25. buttermilk

    nectarine / 2086 posts

@aprild: I'm sure your baby is doing just fine and was probably in a weird position like you said. But this made me realize they actually haven't measured me the past 2 appointments, guess I'll have to ask about it next Tuesday!

@Torchwood: 37.5 Wks here, not much to report. I'm drinking all the tea and popping all the EPO and having all the sex, not to induce but just in hopes labor will be more effective when she decides to come! Hope you are Liliana are doing good.

  26. OhCaptain

    kiwi / 696 posts

@aprild: Im measuring big. At my 28 week appointment I was measuring 5 weeks ahead.
Now I'm measuring 2-3. Until recently my baby was really high. Also my belly measured three weeks ahead at 40 weeks with my first, which prompted my induction. When they broke my water my belly got so much smaller. My son was 9lb7oz. My midwife this time around doesn't seem to think measuring 3 weeks large was a reason for induction at 40w3d (like last time).

  27. Mrs. Microscope

    pear / 1788 posts

@aprild: yup, I measured 4 weeks small a few weeks ago! Ultrasound showed super low baby at 61st percentile, she just wasn't using her space, so I didn't grow! I had a small spurt, but I'm.still not 37cm... Doctors aren't worried since the ultrasound showed a slightly larger than average baby, even if I'm physically smaller!

@aprild: I've been measuring 1-2 weeks behind by belly measurements for the last few appointments, but his growth scans have been in the 50-75th percentile. I'm petite, so I'm guessing it's just his position and the fact that I just don't have much more room to grow! I remember measuring behind at the end with my LO too and he came out at 8lb 13oz.

@getjazzy: Yay for a name!! That's super exciting!!

    @Mrs. J: Eeeek!!

Nothing too exciting over here. 9 days to go! My BFF's shower was today and tons of fun. We've been friends since kindergarten, were college roommates, in each other's weddings, etc. so it's fun being able to share this too!

@Mrs. Chocolate: glad you want to join us! We are a pretty fun group! Welcome!

@lilteacherbee: so happy you had fun, and that you made it back for snuggles with your little man!

We had prenatal date night tonight at my yoga studio with partner Thai massage and yoga, followed by snacks. Fun and relaxing! Learned some good stuff for labor, and some acupressure points to hopefully speed things along

@Mrs. Microscope: are you kidding me, that sounds like so much fun! I bet you and DH really enjoyed it!

@lilteacherbee: glad you had such a great day with your friend! I'm 30 and I've made several new preggo friends this year, but I'm still the first of my close, long time friends to have babies. Come on friends!!!

@Mrs. Chocolate: welcome to the group!! you're due a day before me! How are you feeling?

Remember reading about all those rando pregnancy symptoms in the 2ww and 1st tri - like bleeding gums? I never had it then, but now twice this week I've had a mouthful of blood when I brush my teeth in the AM! Lol.

It took us all day, but we managed to clean the house top to bottom. Super ready for baby now. And we set up the pack n play in our bedroom. It's a nice reminder every time I walk into the room now! This mirror is super secured to the wall - has been for years but I'm still kind of nervous. Would you guys remove it?

  34. Mrs. J

@buttermilk: it's probably ok, but if it makes you feel better, take it down!

I want to clean the house from top to bottom, but toddlers and house construction projects make that impossible! We are hopefully finishing up our playroom soon!!

@Mrs. Chocolate: yay! I was wondering if/when you'd join us!

@Mrs. J feel you on wanting to clean all the things. I woke up at 6:30 this morning and started doing laundry. DH was like "WHAT are you doing?" I told him I am paranoid I am going to go into labor today and not have any clean clothes to take to the hospital, LOL. I woke up with a lot of cramping and some contractions so I could not sleep until I started the laundry, haha. Now he thinks I'm nesting and the baby's coming soon. I think I'm just paranoid!

@buttermilk: @OhCaptain: @Mrs. Microscope: @lilteacherbee: @Mrs. J: Thanks guys. I'm glad I'm not the only one that gets measurements that are a little off, but I'm sure it's perfectly normal and baby is healthy.

@lilteacherbee: That's sweet that the two of you are going through pregnancy together.

@Mrs. Microscope: That sounds like a fun date! I like the idea of doing something other than the typical dinner and a movie sometimes.

@buttermilk: I'm impressed you got so much done! I'm hoping to have a productive day today, so we'll see. Also, if you think the mirror is secure, it's probably okay. I might be more concerned after the baby is standing and can pull on it, but then they would be in the crib, right?

@MrsADS: I have this same fear about going into labor and not having things ready, like clean clothes to wear. I'm trying to keep on top of the laundry, but it seems like the hamper is always full! Same thing with messes. As soon as I clean up, my toddler or husband come along and make a mess again. It's impossible for everything to stay perfect.

  38. cat620

    pear / 1809 posts

I'm 38 weeks today! I can't believe my due date is just two weeks away. I'm still planning to attempt a VBAC, so I'm hoping for an easy and fast delivery. My practice won't let me go more than a couple days past my due date however, and they won't induce for a VBAC, so I'll meet my baby by the 11th at the latest.
