    @kayakgirl73: yay vertex!!
    @kjpugs: yes, this. My midwife said I should be doing kick counts, so I over analyze what's a movement.
    @buttermilk: I keep thinking about it!

    So we moved DS to his new room tonight. Commence clean the nursery frenzy!! I am scrubbing everything and I moved the clean baby clothes and diapers into the dresser. Nest, nest, nest!!!

    @OhCaptain: I feel pretty relaxed about tracking the fetal movement and don't pay a lot of attention to it, since I'm so busy during the day. But I also have been freaked out recently reading stories about babies who weren't moving. I feel like I should start counting movements again, but it's just so much work!

    @MrsStar: Glad to hear everything is going well! Good luck with the cleanup! I need to do some cleaning too, but I feel like I have no energy.

    @kayakgirl73: Good luck with everything! Saturday will be here soon!

    @Torchwood: So cute!

    For those of you with toddlers, do you feel like they understand they are getting a sibling? People ask me this all the time, and I honestly don't know if my two year old understands or not. I try to talk to him about it, but he's not very verbal yet. He just says "no" whenever I point to my stomach or talk about babies.

    @Mrs. J: Eeeek!! How does he like his new room?! We're crazy and painting our entire house this week, so a ton of nesting happening here too.

    @aprild: My LO is only 20 months, but he's very verbal and talks about the baby a lot. He kisses my belly all day long. Today, he took blankets and put them in the rock n play and said "baby Carter!" So, I guess he understands somewhat? I just hope he's as sweet to him when he gets here as he is now!

    @lilteacherbee: I think he likes it! He's been excited about it for weeks, but I'm not sure how much he understands about this whole ordeal

  9. OhCaptain

    @aprild: since mine is 3, which technically makes him a preschooler (sob) he gets it. But I don't think he realizes how much will change when the baby arrives. we will see!

    @Buttermilk: I'm doing epo vaginally. Here's some real TMI, I've also been using it for lube when we have sex, I figure it's like, a double dose.

    @OhCaptain: ooh good idea!

    @Mrs. J: I did it last night, wasn't a big deal! I just made sure to wear a panty liner to bed.

    @aprild: like OhCaptain, mine is almost 3 so she gets it a little more. She is very excited to tell you she is going to be a big sister and likes touch my belly to see if she can feel the baby move (she will ask if we can try and wake the baby up). And she's been more into taking care of her dolls the last month or so. So she seems to get it/is excited.....but we will see what happens when the baby arrives!! We have read lots of books/watch a lot of Daniel Tiger episodes that feature his new sister too.

    @aprild: LO is 21 months and has no idea. She knows that my belly is "baby" or "Izzie" but that's it.

    I went to old navy last night and got a bunch of nursing friendly tank tops! I just got ones with generous side boob openings so I can whip em out. Now I just need to get some kind of comfy cardigan thing to stay covered up and hide the post baby belly. Yay!

    Ok going to re-write the part of my post that was deleted.

    The night before last actually thought we were at the start of the real deal. I kept waking up every 10-15 minutes with cramping, stomach tightening and pains. Several trips to the washroom to *tmi*, couldn't get comfortable in bed, just generally got the feeling that something was starting and I ended upvr searching what the best contraction timer app was at 3:30am, I had plans to go to th zoo the next day and was mentally preparing to cancel and figure out alternative care for my son since he still has a fever and daycare won't take him and then... Nothing! Just stopped and that was it.

    This all better be helping my cervix move along because it sure is annoying!!

  17. cat620

    pear / 1809 posts

    @lilteacherbee: That's cute! Hopefully, he keeps up the sweet behavior.

    @OhCaptain: I don't think there's a way to explain to them how much their lives will change, but at least he understands a little bit!

    @abmamma: Aww, that's cute. I'm glad she's excited!

    @kjpugs: Sounds like my son. I think when he says "no", he's actually saying it because he doesn't want a baby lol

    @buttermilk: I need some nursing friendly tops too. Old Navy is a good idea!

    @getjazzy: I'm sure it's doing something. I can't imagine having painful contractions for no purpose. I've been having similar contractions, but I haven't gotten a cervical check yet, so who knows what's happening

  18. MrsADS

    nectarine / 2262 posts

    @Buttermilk that is a GREAT idea. I don't really have any nursing friendly clothes, and it would definitely be easier to look for some now before the baby comes instead of after. Were the tops you got specifically for "nursing"?

    @KJPugs I am also so paranoid about the baby movement after the late term losses on here. I got freaked out in the middle of the night last night because I wasn't feeling him. But, this morning he's rolling around. My little guy can be kind of quiet in the movement department sometimes.

    @Getjazzy That sounds like me every night So many contractions and so much cramping. I have several times thought "this is it" and then it goes away. My OB checked me and says I'm almost completely effaced, so at least for me, all the contractions/cramping are definitely moving things along. Hopefully they are for you too!

    @getjazzy: I felt a little bit like that yesterday/last night (although not to the extent you did). I felt off/crampy most of the day and definitely had a lot more BH contractions in addition to some real ones. But they never hit any kind of pattern. I am sure it is doing something!!

    Question for everyone: are others doing freezer meals for after the baby's arrival? I haven't gone too crazy in terms of stockpiling but have tried to make dinners over the last several weeks that I can either double or that make a lot so I can put some in the freezer for later. So far I have chicken tamale casserole, beef/bean burritos, manicotti, and eggplant parm (apparently we like Mexican and Italian!). I am hoping to make a big batch of muffins this weekend for easy breakfasts/snacks. I'd really like to put something in there for easy/quick lunches but am struggling with ideas. Thoughts on that or other good freezer items?

  21. buttermilk

    nectarine / 2086 posts

    @aprild: @MrsADS: yeah, and go this week while they're still having a sale. 3 of the tanks I got were only $4 on clearance and cute! none of them are specifically nursing tops. I just tried on all the loose tank tops I could find and picked the ones that were stretchy & would be easy to pull to the side for booby access.

    nectarine / 2086 posts

    @abmamma: I've been struggling with the freezer meal thing too. I want to prepare but I'm nervous I'll spend a lot of time and money on stocking the freezer and then not feel like eating it! My friend who just had a baby had a meal train going and they offered to coordinate one for us so maybe we will just do that? I am making a huge pot of minestrone this wknd and freezing it. Soup does really well. And a batch of lactation cookies for the freezer. And maybe some meatballs! And somewhere on here somebody mentioned making up easy meal plans & a grocery list for a whole month in advance so at least the hard part is out of the way once you do feel like cooking, and I love to cook!

  23. abmamma

    kiwi / 641 posts

    @buttermilk: it's awesome that others are organizing a meal train for you! With DD we got some meals from my MIL and one friend but nothing quite so organized. I like to cook too and was able to get back to it after a few weeks but am worried it might be a bit harder this time with two kids. I will probably be a bit more proactive with stocking the freezer when I go back to work since that is really when I would have appreciated the quick/easy/homemade meals!!

    @buttermilk: our friends are delivering freezer meals for us next week. I think about 8-10? After that I plan to either send DH to dream dinners for assembly (I'm picky about certain things, so we can't use the pre-assembled meals there) and once family arrives august 27, they will feed us! I also love cooking, so we might skip the dream dinners and go back to normal if I feel up to it!

    nectarine / 2086 posts

    @abmamma: oh good idea about doing it when we go back to work, I hadn't even thought of that! I am hoping our families will also bring us food and that between that and the meal train we will be good for a couple of weeks!

    @Mrs. Microscope: so nice of your friends! What is Dream Dinners? Sounds delicious lol

    How about something like blue apron or whatever, those meal delivery things!?

  26. kjpugs

    grapefruit / 4862 posts

    @abmamma: nope, we don't do frozen meals ever really (I'm just so picky!) I wish I had more meals to freeze or crock pot options. DH will cook while he's home though since he's a chef. Anyone have a good recipe for enchiladas to freeze though? Chicken enchiladas with green sauce are my fave! Can't I just order them from my fave Mexican place and freeze them? I wish people would bring food but we don't know enough people here and have no family here.

    @MrsADS: @abmamma: Trying to hold out hope but I had a lot of prodromal/false labour last time that sadly didn't do anything for my progress. After 37.5 hours in actual hard labour, I was still only dilated to 3cm so I'm affraid of the same difficult uphill battle. Trying to keep positive though and will myself an easier labour and delivery haha.

    @abmamma: I did a few freezer meals and ideas that were a hit last time! My DH is off work for the first month with me so I figured I won't need many freezer meals during that time, especially since it's summer and grilling season is pretty easy for him to whip up meals but I hope to make a bunch of freezer things on his last week or so home so that we can continue to have warm meals once he's back to work lol.

    I found muffins and cookies (or healthy "breakfast type" cookies) were great to have, as well as making batches of pancakes to freeze because you can pop them in the microwave/toaster for easy breakfast. I find those especially handy for my toddler.

    @kjpugs: @getjazzy: so nice that your DHs are handy in the kitchen/cooking. My DH is not so helpful on this front (outside of breakfast-- he is great with eggs, pancakes and waffles, etc.) and he'll only be home for a week or so, so not sure how much help he will be outside of take-out pick-ups!

    @buttermilk: dream dinners is a freezer meal assembly company where they can do it for you, or you can go to their kitchen and assemble yourself to your taste. They have 10-12 recipes available per month. We do it maybe once a year, but this seems like the right time!

    @Mrs. Microscope: oh how neat!

    Well, my most annoying pregnancy symptom has officially gone from peeing every 30 minutes to pooping every hour. Wtf!?

    @Mrs. Microscope: That's a brilliant idea!

    Just back from an uneventful OB check up for 38 weeks,BP is fine, didn't really gain any weight again, HB is fine. Nothing to report, see them again on monday for my 39 week appointment and we'll do an internal then (hopefully a sweep too).

    you know 3rd trimester exhaustion is real when you have a $50 gift card to sephora and it took you over a month to finally get over there. Lol.

    on a related note, I have had amazing skin since I got pregnant, like I could count all the pimples I've had on one hand. But lately....... My skin is looking like shit and I'm starting to get a few zits, must be the progesterone decreasing and getting ready for baby!!

    @getjazzy: lol, possibly! And we're going out for some tonight!

  40. buttermilk

    nectarine / 2086 posts

    @getjazzy: I think that must be what it is. Progesterone stops us from having uterine contractions and now that it's starting to decrease and we are all getting more BH's I think it must be causing our crap skin too!
