@raspberries: last time I took the child birth class offered by my hospital (small town in Wyoming) because it was free and I since we were new to town (we moved when I was 30 weeks!) I really just wanted to get a feel for the hospital and staff. It was a good class. But I only learned a few things I didn't know already, about birth itself. There was an IBCLC on staff at my OB's office and I took her breastfeeding class and it was great! I learned stuff I didn't already know (like infant stomach size, and about the breast crawl) I think more of that info is on the internet now, but the class was great. I totally reccomend a class led by an IBCLC or even a one on one consultation before and after birth if it's really important to you to succeed in breastfeeding.

@raspberries: I'm taking a Hypnobabies class. Very excited about it! I talked to the instructor on the phone for a bit and she said the techniques you learn (self hypnosis) are even very helpful when you have planned or unplanned interventions because it can help you to relax.

And Rly glad DH agreed to do the live class version because we aren't planning on hiring a doula and so we both Rly need to practice him being my birth partner. That's what I'm most nervous of - normally in a stressful situation I take all of my frustration out on him so I'm Rly gonna have to learn how to not do that and lean on him instead.

I haven't thought about what other classes I need to take yet. But maybe CPR and breastfeeding would be good.

Our boys name has been decided since before LO1 was born so if this is a boy then it will be Lucas. We're struggling big time with girl names though but our current top contender is Harper.

Ugh today is just one of those days when I had to use all my willpower to go outside in the -15 degree windchill and then work all day. Especially bc I thought it was saturday when I woke up. I think I may just spend the rest of the night in my pajamas!!!

I wish we had some name ideas- DH is pretty adamant about not wanting to debate names until we know baby is a boy or a girl. Occasionally I ask him if he likes a name but most of the time he has an issue with it. We do know the middle name (Lee or Leigh)- a family name- so if anyone has boy or girl ideas for that middle name, bring 'em on!

@abmamma: do you have a date for finding out the gender yet? exciting! ours is March 23rd.

    @MrsStar: love Lucas and Luke!!

@krispi: I agree with ohcaptain. Love Emily Elaine!

@buttermilk: I haven't made my appointment yet! I got the order frm my ob this week (I go to the MFM office for these ultrasounds) but wasn't able to call at work. Hopefully around the same time though! DH Is pretty convinced it's another girl but I'm pretty sure it's because he's not so secretly hoping for a boy since this likely our last baby. I an just excited to know! I'm always impressed by those going Team Green- I couldn't make it the whole time without knowing!

We just got our Maternity21 results--all the trisomy tests came back negative (well, whichever one means we are all clear).

AND IT'S A GIRL!!!!! We're going to have a big sister and a little sister now. And I'm glad I kept all of LO#1's clothes because we live in a small condo and MANY times, I have wanted to get rid of stuff. Glad I didn't!

    I'm excited to have sisters!!

I'm so excited for tomorrow night! My husband and I are going to spend our first night away from my son since he was born (and he's 20 months old)! It's a belated Valentine's night out for us. We live in a suburb of a major city, so DH booked us a room at a fancy hotel in the downtown area. We're going to eat dinner at a steakhouse, and then go see a live comedian at a local comedy club. To get a night out to stay up as late as we want and then be able to sleep in the next day sounds like heaven!

@krispi: My cousin's name is Emily Eileen, and I like it. She's never complained either.

@Anagram: Yay for another girl! And yay for not getting rid of stuff; you would be kicking yourself now! AND huge yay for good results!

@aprild: that sounds wonderful! We haven't done a night away from DD in over a year- definitely on my list before #2 arrives. Enjoy!

@buttermilk: I don't know yet- part of me does think it might be another girl too but last time I was sure we we were having a boy and was wrong so I'm not sure my intuition counts for much!

Guys, DH and I just finished booking Baby's first vacation... To Walt Disney World! We have been talking about this trip with friends for the last 2 years and decided that we think we can do it... Baby will be about 10wks old (due date). Its just a 3 day trip, but I feel like we are crazy but we should be able to do it. Our friends daughter will be 1. We went this past fall as well with another friend who had a 5mo, so at least we kind of know the infant routine in the parks. Still, crazy!!

@Mrs. Microscope: That sounds so fun! We're tentatively booked for a family vacation to Vegas of all places in November. So LO will be what, 3mo? FIL likes to pay for us all to go on trips every couple of years, and DH really wants to go to Vegas with his dad, so why not. I actually like hotels and don't mind staying in the room when needed, as long as I have a book or something. And we can probably trade off watching kids one night each with SIL (who has a 4 year old), so that we can do something less baby-friendly. We'll be skipping the donkey ride down the Grand Canyon though!

My current favorite thing about being pregnant? My husband is insisting I not clean the bathroom due to chemical smells.

@OhCaptain: That's great! The only thing I'm currently getting out of is the litter box. But hey, I'll take it!

Baby movement is finally getting really definite and frequent! I love it! Though now every time I feel her I don't want to move. I still don't feel her standing up, so I just want to sit all the time and see if she's moving! I wish I could tell what she's doing. Is that a literal kick, or a fist, or a headbutt?

  31. abmamma

    kiwi / 641 posts

@OhCaptain: My DH is the same-- very concerned about fumes/chemical exposure which means no cleaning the bathrooms. Love it!

@Mrs. J: he wasn't like this my first pregnancy! Except about painting the nursery.

  33. Mrs. Microscope

@OhCaptain: lucky! I also have only gotten out of cat boxes. We use green cleaning products so I guess its not as bad as it could be. Dh cleans the bathrooms maybe once a month... And I do it the rest of the time because once a month is not often enough! Dh is very tidy, but not exactly clean in the "wiped down" sense of the word. He "cleans" the kitchen every night, putting away leftovers, doing dishes, but I still have to wipe up coffee and sauce spills or sticky residue and rinse out the sink every morning.

@Torchwood: Oooh how exciting! I just had my first "maybe baby" feeling in my tummy while sitting on the couch today. Def wasn't gas this time! But I guess we will see!

@Anagram: Congrats on the good test results and another little girl!

@aprild: Hope you enjoyed your night away

@Mrs. Microscope: I've been thinking so much about Disney lately, I can't wait to go but I think we will wait until both kids are older since it would be a very long trip for us! You're going to have so much fun!

Bit the bullet and got a double stroller over the weekend. After much debate about whether I would get the second seat for our B-ready, completely switch to the city select or buy a different one.. we tried out the city select and I thought I would love it but it turns out, I hated it. It's a little too compact to be the double I want it to, you're restricted on how and when you can recline the seats, along with a few other issues. So for the $800+ price tag, I couldn't justify it. We went with the contours options elite, the newest and "highest" ($) model from that line which I tried out at BRU and loved. It's very similar to the city select in it's layout but was a bit more functional and wayyyyy better priced. With tax and shipping to my house it was $360 CAD so now I don't need to sell the B-ready so I'll still have it for trips with either the baby or DS1 but I'll also have the double for when I'm with both or we do family trips.

@getjazzy: I'm still debating a double stroller. Mine will be three years and three months apart.

@OhCaptain: I debated back and fourth too. Mine will be almost 2 years exactly and LO is way too young to not at least have the option to sit so we decided to go forward. Such a tough call though because he could decide at any minute that he doesn't want to sit. He could also gravitate back to it later when he realizes that walking far can suck lol.
