My husband painted the nursery yesterday! The color looks a little darker than I had envisioned, but we're going to put in a white wainscoting, so I think it will look good when it's finished. He's at Home Depot now to get supplies to get started with the wood work.

Wow we are at 2000 comments already.
My anatomy scan is Tuesday. I hope everything is okay. Still tired and now my back is bothering me. Hopefully yoga today will help.

@kayakgirl73: I hear you on the back pain! Mine is mid back, and come and goes (like, right between my shoulder blades). Don;t know what is up with that, as my boobs have BARELY grown. I am also having bad sciatica, which is now a CONSTANT ache on my right hip, with occasional shooting pains that cause me to cry out and almost fall over. Yoga isn't helping with that anymore, and my yoga teacher gave the name of a chiropractor to call tomorrow. Hoping for some relief soon! I can't go another 21-ish weeks like this!

@Mrs. Microscope: @kayakgirl73: I'm having the same back pain! Especially if I do something after work instead of the usual coming home and relaxing. No boob growth and my bump isn't that big so idk!

Thanks everyone for your words of support. I am feeling better now (I was a wreck on Friday!). I have done some research and also talked to some family and friends with experience (a neonatologist, a mfm nurse practitioner) who BOTH said they think it's nothing to worry about. They said this is the type of thing that would probably have never even been found if I was getting ultrasounds at my OB's office - they only found it at the mfm office because they have such high-tech u/s machines and very skilled ultrasound techs.
So, now I am just waiting for the DNA bloodwork to come back - they told me 1.5 to two weeks so it will be a while. If that is negative I will relax. I'll still have to have extra monitoring but at least that will pretty much rule out any chromosomal abnormalities like Down syndrome.
Over the weekend we've been getting excited about having a boy, looking at names, nursery stuff, etc. So much to do!!!

@kayakgirl73: @Mrs. Microscope: @buttermilk: What is up with this upper back pain??? Mine started last week during (at least I don't remember having it before) a yoga class...and is starting to feel better but is still nagging...

How was everyone's weekend?
My mom is in town so yesterday we went shopping - I bought a boy outfit and a girl outfit at baby Gap, going to return one after our scan next week!!
I also went to Forever 21 which I don't normally shop at, and got a few pairs of cute elastic drawstring pants that I should be able to wear for a while, and it doesn't matter if they fall apart because they were $12!
And we booked our baby shower date - June 14th! Eek!

My OB called today with results from my anatomy scan on Saturday. Ventricles in brain are not abnormal but are borderline. I go for a followup ultrasound Friday morning with a physician, then meet with genetic counselors immediately after.

@Ms. RV: hugs! I hope a higher resolution scan can ease your mind. I will have my fingers crossed for you Friday.

@Ms. RV: Thinking of you, really hoping it's nothing!
@buttermilk: My weekend was good! Went shopping for baby and got about 8 onesies! Pulled out the bassinet and containers of LO1's clothes and went through them - planning to donate alot of them so I made a list of what this baby needs.
This baby is SO active! Whenever I sit on the couch or lie in bed she moves non-stop - she's used my bladder as a trampoline a few times also.

@buttermilk: Ohhh, Forever 21 is a good idea for cheap maternity clothes - I never want to spend a lot on something I won't use very long. My main baby shower is planned for the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend - I ordered the cake already (mainly because I got so excited about cake flavors, haaa.)
@Ms. RV: Hope everything everything turns out alright - keep us posted!

@Ms. RV: I'll be thinking of you. FX!!
@MrsStar: Exciting! I'm feeling baby more and more too. Seems like every time I sit down now it starts kicking!
@raspberries: Fun! I think I'm gonna make the dessert for my shower since I make cakes for a living

@Ms. RV: Do you know what your numbers were? Borderline is scary, but it's really probably nothing! The margin of error on those regular machines means they find a lot of possible problems that turn out to be nothing. Our original measuerements for R's ventricles was at least 2mm larger than they actually were, which is enough to push a normal measurement into borderline. Also, boys pretty commonly have slightly larger ventricles, so if its a boy that's even better! Wall me if you need to talk (but I understand if I'm the last person you want to think about right now!). Also, if you haven't read our story, don't! We were a worst case scenario. Just throwing that out there because if you search HB for ventricle info, my stuff will pop up. Sending you all the positive thoughts in the world! Try not to worry too much!

@MrsADS: that stinks about having such a good u/s machine find something that you'll have to worry about now until you get your (sure to be good!!) results back. I guess it's a double edged sword. Congrats on the boy and fingers crossed for those great results!
@Ms. RV: fingers are crossed for an amazing appointment and reassuring news on Friday!!!!!

@Ms. RV: I know that must be nerve-wracking... FX that everything looks good on your level 2 (?) scan!!!

@Mrs. Microscope: @MrsStar: @buttermilk: @abmamma: @kjpugs: @Mrs. J: @FliegepilzHut: Thank you for all of the good thoughts. I'll post again when I have the results.
@Torchwood: Too late, I had already found and read your story. They did not tell me the number but I have to call the office tomorrow and let them know when my appt is, so I may ask then. I'm terrified it is something like 14-15 and they are calling that "not abnormal" instead of the 10-12 the internet seems to think is borderline.
It's weird. I now recall having an uneasy feeling about the brain when it was on the screen. I used to work for a company that made equipment for CT and MRI scanners as well as took a neuroimaging class in grad school, so I've seen lots of brain pictures. This was the first ultrasound brain I saw, and I kind of just chocked the uneasiness up to that.

@Ms. RV hoping everything works out for you. We are undergoing some testing now for an abnormal finding on our ultrasound (echogenic bowel), so I feel your worry. Will be thinking of you!
Can we discuss weight gain? I'm 17weeks now. Since my last OB appointment at 14 weeks, I have gained 4.5 lbs I am trying to eat healthy although pizza is a weakness! Need to watch my diet a little more I guess!
pear / 1930 posts
@MrsADS: You're in my thoughts, too!
I was up 4.5lbs between 13 and 18 weeks. Barely on track for less than a pound a week. When are your appointments? Mine always seem to happen right after lunch so I don't think that helps.

Just talked to a nurse at my OB. Ventricles are measuring 10mm, should be less than 10. Still nervous about Friday but I'll probably sleep better tonight.

@Ms. RV: keeping you in my thoughts, glad you got a bit of reassuring news.

@MrsADS: I think I've gained about 8 pounds total so far.... I also started about 5 pounds lighter this pregnancy.
pear / 1955 posts
@MrsStar: I ordered a two tiered cake - top tier carrot cake, and bottom one almond with berry compote between layers and vanilla icing! I seriously thought about scheduling a tasting, but that would be maybe a little too indulgent and unnecessary for a 40-person shower.
@buttermilk: Ohhh, that's fun... do you know what you're planning to make yet? If I was having a girl, I think I would have gone for a strawberry shortcake shower, since I can't get enough of strawberries this time around!
@Ms. RV: @MrsADS: @Mrs. J: I'm at 19w2d, and up 16lbs total... not super worried about it though, since my nausea is just about completely gone and I can get back to a normal diet that includes, you know, foods OTHER than bread and cheese.
pomelo / 5607 posts
@MrsADS: I'm not sure what my weight gain has been, since I don't know where I started, but my guess is around 10lb (I'm 19 weeks). If I started out lower than my usual it could be more, but that's probably pretty close. Which means I'm pretty okay with it? Just need to keep it slow and steady.
@Ms. RV: I'm sorry you read that! I may talk to Mr.Bee about adding a disclaimer or something to those posts. Our situation was just SO unlikely to happen to anyone. My doctors had never dealt with someone who had to terminate like we did, though they were 100% supportive and helpful throughout. 10mm is great news! Like I said, the margin of error on those machines is high, and they always err on the side of larger, so they don't miss something. R's originally were something like 17.5 and 18, but they told us both were 20. Which a- is a pretty big difference, and b- is a LOT bigger deal than what you're looking at. They were already considered moderate at that point. (ETA- This time we had the level 2 to start with, and even with that the measurements varied from around 4.5 to 6mm depending on the angle baby was at.) When we first found out, I tried googling to see what other people had run into, and I couldn't find anything about babies with ventricles as large as hers. Everyone was more like you, and almost without exception they all said that it resolved itself or turned out to be nothing. I know it's impossible not to worry, but based on the absurd amounts of research I've done, I really think you're going to be fine. Hugs!
@buttermilk: So exciting! I want to do my baby party (not-shower?) on the 14th, but we're out of town! I'm guessing it will have to be the week before or after. I need to find a location for it! But I want to do something like a clubhouse in a park, and those websites are always so poorly run that it's hard to find anything out by doing a search online. And I just don't know how else to go about it! DH promised to look into it, since he's better at this sort of thing, but he's been busy. It's driving me nuts not being able to plan properly since I don't know where it will be.
I feel like I've suddenly gotten "really" pregnant. 2 strangers commented on the fact that I'm pregnant, movement has ramped up even more (and she was wiggly to begin with), BH's have gotten stronger and more like I remember them from last time, belly seems like it's getting bigger daily, finally, it just all feels more real now. Part of me wonders if it's because I was holding back somehow with worrying about my anatomy scan, but most of those are things I couldn't affect myself. Maybe it's just what happens when you get to a certain point.

@raspberries: I'm making all the sweets for my baby party, so I've been testing recipes! Pretty sure this part is more fun than making the stuff for the actual party. This week I'm going to test out lemon whoopie pies with raspberry cream cheese frosting filling, and sprinkle sugar cookies!

@Torchwood: yum! I want to do a BBQ once baby is here to welcome him/her since we won't have a shower.
pomelo / 5607 posts
@Mrs. J: That's basically what this is, except I want to do all the work myself (I LOVE party planning), and I figure it'll be easier without a baby to take care of!

@Torchwood: so true. I'll have my (then) 20 month old AND the baby! eeeek.

@Mrs. J: "I'll have my (then) 20 month old AND the AND the baby! eeeek." Hahaha yup that's pretty much how I'm feeling these days! Omg.
@MrsADS: I think I'm up 9ish lbs. I'll find out officially at my appointment Thursday. That's about where I was last time at this point and I started 10 lbs lighter this time. I'm kinda scared that I'll get huge at the end because with LO1, I had GD, so I was forced to eat better and only gained 5ish lbs the last 3 months.

@raspberries: love it! We will be in San Diego the week before his actual birthday so I'm guessing he'll want to do something like Five Guys for his real birthday dinner as well. Keepin it classy!

@Ms. RV: sending you lots of positive vibes, but I bet it's all totally fine just like torchwood said.
@Torchwood: yay so excited for baby parties. I was also stressing about where to host but my bf just offered to have it at her place, and she has a great roof deck! What about local parks in your area? And yeah, my mouth started watering when you said lemon whoopie pie!
@MrsADS: I was up 5 lbs at 17 Wks, I'll get an update at my next checkup. I just do not trust my scale, the number jumps around depending on where exactly I place the scale in the room!

At what point do I worry about no definite movement??? I'm 17+3 today. Felt first definite kick with LO1 at 20 weeks, but I had an AP then, and don't this time. I was sure I would feel it earlier due to no AP and it being my second pregnancy. I'm freaking myself out about it
clementine / 903 posts
@kjpugs: Was looking at this thread b/c I am due early September, so could be August... I have a friend due beginning of August, so she is like 20 weeks and doesn't feel any definite movement yet, and doesn't have AP, and her baby was looking just fine at anatomy scan!!

@mrscobee: thanks! I think it's so dangerous to be able to compare two pregnancies because I'm sure they're different, I just hate not knowing what's going on in there!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the reassuring anecdote
