Had my growth scan on Friday. Baby's weight is back in the 33% so that is good. She is still breech Ugh. We had a huge scare though they thought the saw something wrong with her heart. So we had to go yesterday to a pediatric cardiologist for a fetal echocardiogram.
My swelling is getting bad and my feet hurt so bad.

@Mrs.Scientist: No stretch marks here yet. I was lucky and didn't get any with my first pregnancy, so I'm hoping this time will be the same.
@kayakgirl73: I hope the pediatric cardiologist has good news for you! Sorry to hear things aren't going perfectly right now, but it could definitely change for the better.

@aprild: we got good news from the pediatric cardiologist. He thinks she's fine or something minor like a heart mummer.

@Mrs.Scientist: no stretch marks here yet. I got a few on my hips with my son, but they were tiny and faded right away.
We had our hospital tour on Sat, and it's such a beautiful hospital! I'm so happy that the rooms with tubs are basically reserved for my midwife practice and that the hospital is MUCH closer than my old one!!

OMG you guys. So I am laying here on the couch on my side, just relaxing, watching TV, and I feel a weird wet spot on my shirt... I totally leaked milk!!! Ahhh. Not a lot, but still - kind of freaky, I guess it is getting real!

@MrsADS: I haven't had that much come out yet, but I have been wearing breast pads the last week because I've been leaking enough to make my nipples sticky and itchy! Fun times!
nectarine / 2262 posts
@Mrs. Microscope it wasn't that much, maybe only a quarter size spot on my shirt. And only on the left side- I was laying on my left side, so I think maybe my left boob got kind of squeezed and that's how it came out? LOL.

Okay, time for an ungrateful bitch rant! (yup, it's me)
Our baby shower is Saturday and I decided to peek at our registry to see what has been purchased... Clothes. And not stuff we registered for, but things people bought and had tacked on? We didn't tell people boy or girl to avoid this!!! Also, DH's family has just sent books, nothing practical. My family told me they want to know if it's a boy or girl before sending anything (read:more clothes) so it looks like I have lots of returns in my future and lots of out of pocket spending to buy the stuff we really need.
I hate feeling ungrateful!

@Mrs. Microscope: I would be disappointed if I were you too. The point of the baby shower is to get things you need for the baby, and unfortunately a ton of clothes and books aren't considered the essentials. I was pretty lucky at my shower and got a carseat, high chair, exersaucer, baby bathtub and lots of shampoo and diapers. Hopefully, you'll still get some items you need. I know a lot of people like to shop for things at the last minute. Or maybe you'll get some gift cards. Anyway, I know you should be happy with whatever people give you, but don't feel bad for feeling a little ungrateful.

@Mrs. Microscope: I didn't know registries can track off registry purchases! We got a lot of clothes at our shower for LO 1 in addition to registry purchases. Hope you can make some returns.

@Mrs. Microscope: I don't think you're ungrateful. It's just frustrating...this is why registries exist! Maybe people bought some of the gear somewhere else (like they got a deal?)

@Mrs. Microscope: I remember feeling this way about my wedding registry. Why were people buying me cake plates (in their defense I did register for it) when what I really needed was sheets? We were really young and broke at the time (my husband was finishing school and bar tending and I was an AmeriCorps member) and I was frustrated. By the time our baby came along 5 years later we were in a different place financially, but I still thought about that when I made my registry. We were very fortunate to be given handmedowns for all the "big" stuff: swing, bouncer, car seat, baby bath, bumbo, bassinet, etc. I made sure I registered for only baby gear. No decorations, no clothes, no blankets. I knew people would get us that anyway. We ended up getting lots of stuff we needed AND an exorbitant amount of clothing. I seriously received 32 six month onesies.

@Mrs. Microscope: Just repeating what @Mrs. J: said - I was kind of disappointed because it looked like a lot of the stuff on my registry hadn't been purchased, so I assumed I was getting a lot of clothes - it turned out people just didn't scan the registry thingie when they were checking out or bought from other stores where they found stuff cheaper. (Disclaimer: I still got TONS of clothes, but they were mostly given in addition to other, more practical items.)

@Mrs. Microscope: I don't think it's ungreatful either. People sometimes get caught up in the cute stuff that the functional stuff isn't as fun to buy. I would like to mention that for my shower, lots of items didn't get bought until the day before or day of (it is the age of procrastination and I'm guilty of it!) plus like someone above mentioned, people may have bought and not crossed it off the registry. In the very worst of cases, you can definitely exchange and we did that for a lot of items too!

@Mrs. Microscope: totally not ungrateful. We did the same thing (kept gender quiet til after shower) and didn't register for any clothes. People said the same thing. I was surprised- a lot of people shopped day of (literally rolled to the store then the shower) or brought stuff off registry. I did find that stores were willing to work with you on returns even if the items weren't on the registry, so long as they're in store. Hey- you need stuff! You shouldn't feel bad about that.

I'm heading out in an hour or two to go to a friend's wedding. We have the rehearsal dinner tonight, and the wedding is tomorrow evening. I'm really hoping my feet/ankles don't swell up like they have been lately. I'm going to wear some comfy shoes and a maxi dress to conceal any swelling that does happen.
kiwi / 696 posts
@aprild: have fun! I haven't started swelling yet, much to my surprise! My body is usually really sensitive to that stuff, so I thought for sure I'd have Fred flindtone feet by now! My wedding ring is getting a little tight by the end of the day.

@OhCaptain: My engagement ring hasn't fit for moths and my wedding ring got too tight about two weeks ago. I miss them so much.
Many of my shoes don't fit and others get tight by the end of the day.

Went to MFM this morning. My cervix has shortened 1cm in a week so I am now sitting in the hospital on a monitor and about to get steroids to develop baby's lungs in case he comes early. Ugggh. Cross your fingers he keeps cooking for a while!

@MrsADS: I hope he keeps cooking. Are you already on bedrest or are they considering that? The steroid shots can do a lot of good. Hugs. How many weeks are you?

Hi August mama's! Im an August mom as well, popping in from another bee message board. Unfortunately, all the august moms on there went to a FB group and I'm not on FB so I decided to check Hello bee! Wish I would have come on here sooner...seems like a fun group! Hope all you ladies are doing well!

@MrsADS: thinking good thoughts for you! Glad they are being cautious but hoping that baby stays put for awhile longer!!

@OhCaptain: Im august 5th...but I have suspicions Ill be late.
Its crazy that some August moms are already having their babies! We do group prenatal care at our hospital and we have two mama's who went preterm and both had their babies at 32 weeks. Luckily they are nice and strong, breathing on their own!

Thanks everyone for your well wishes! I am home from the hospital already, it was pretty quick. I didn't have many contractions while I was there and they said baby looked great. They gave me the first steroid injection (just FYI for anyone else who may have to have one, it HURTS!), and I have to come back 24 hours later to get the second one and be monitored again.
My MFM also did a FFN test so we'll see the results of that Monday, I guess. But, he said if it's positive the only things they can do is just give you the steroids so he's going ahead and doing that.
Oddly enough, I am not having many contractions at all today - go figure!! A lot of cramping/pelvic pressure though.
I am 29 weeks so if baby boy came today, he would probably do okay but he definitely needs some more time to cook.
