@Portboston: welcome and I'm glad you could join us!
@MrsADS: I'm hoping he stays in there a while longer!

@MrsADS: Hope he keeps cooking for a while yet!
Think I found my first pregnancy stretch mark this morning! I didn't get any from when I was pregnant with LO1 so I was hoping I'd be as lucky this time!
I'm 33 weeks tomorrow! Ahhhh! Going to try to be organised this weekend and buy the majority of my hospital bag essentials so I can start packing in the next few weeks.

So I had my 32(+3) week ultrasound a few days ago which went well. Baby girl is head down! I was so worried she was transverse. Her heartbeat was 138, and the tech said she was measuring 4lb 5oz. (I'm not sure what that is percentile wise, but it looked average-ish when she showed us the graph.) Anyway, I have to wait for my 34-week appointment to get any "official" results, but they'd call me prior to that if they had any concerns.
I can't believe I'm almost 33-weeks. I should really hustle to get the nursery finished, hospital bags ready, and make sure I have everything for baby! We've been getting lots of mail lately since we ordered a ton of baby stuff off of our Amazon registry, so I need to start organizing everything and making sure I haven't forgotten anything ...

@MrsADS: Hope you're feeling good and LO stays put for a while!
So I have a question. My "baby party" is this weekend (!!), and I totally forgot to invite a few of my mom's friends until the last minute. My mom's response was basically "I can't believe you didn't invite these women who are my closest friends." Now, on the one hand, I ABSOLUTELY should have remembered them. They hosted one of my bridal showers and one of my baby showers last year. But I don't get the "you should have invited them because they're my friends" thing my mom is saying. I should have invited them because they've done a lot for me. But honestly, I barely know them (one I've only met once, and she was not involved in my showers or anything), and I never, ever, ever talk to them. I don't even know why they threw showers for me. My question is what's normal? Aside from them having done my showers, is it really so shocking that I didnt think of them when doing invites for a party that's just our friends and family? We didn't invite any of the IL's friends or anything, and they never mentioned it.
ETA- For my wedding, both my parents had me invite a crazy number of people. My dad had me invite his whole Sunday school class, none of whom I had met, and some of them actually made the 4 hour drive to come! So it could be a southern baptist thing, or possibly just a church thing.

Also, I always feel like I post but don't respond to other people's posts. I promise I read them all! I just am almost always on my phone, so it's harder to reply, especially since it seems like this thread goes so fast sometimes!

Sorry I have been MIA. Busy week!! My mom is in town and our baby shower is tomorrow. So excited! I promise to catch up after the weekend, but I'm thinking of you all always! Hope your baby bumps are all nice and happy and wiggly.

@Torchwood: I think it's a southern thing. I was really surprised by some of my mom's friends who wanted to come to my wedding, even though it was a small event just for family and close friends.

@Mizhi: we just had a 32 weeks scan as well an our was measuring 4.7lbs. The radiologist said that is the 64th percentile so yours is probably around there! The head measured in the 94th....

@MrsStar: thank you!! I'm so happy I found this board you ladies are all so welcoming!!

@Portboston: my son has ALWAYS been in the 90-100 percentile like @lilteacherbee: LO and I think this kid is no exception, based on ultrasound!
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
@Portboston: My baby's head is huge, too. Not surprising because his big brother's was 97th percentile when he was born and still at 19 months is off the charts!
@buttermilk: Have fun at your shower!!
@Torchwood: I had the same thoughts as @krispi: about it being a southern thing. My mom/MIL both wanted their friends at my showers, some of whom I'd only met a few times.
pomelo / 5132 posts
@Torchwood: I don't know. It's a party you're throwing, not a shower, so I don't think you're obligated to invite your parents' friends!

@Mrs. J: Haha we were posting at the same time. Our big headed boys are awesome

@Mrs. J: @lilteacherbee: as a FTM and someone who is trying to go natural I'm scarrrred!!!!!
pomelo / 5132 posts
@Portboston: I did it!! I went totally natural with my big headed baby, and I'm pretty petite, so it can be done!
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
@Portboston: I'm no help because I had a c-section, but @Mrs. J: is a rockstar and went all natural!! So did my MIL and my husband had a huge head too!

@lilteacherbee: well who knows what will happen with me but I have hope!! At the end of day all that matters is that they're here safe

@Mizhi: Just hit me regarding supplied and hospital bag too. On one hand I keep telling myself I have 7 weeks but, that's a short time in real life and things could happen earlier. Still can't believe how fast this pregnancy has gone.
@Torchwood: I don't think it's necessarily on you. Your mom should have mentioned it to you if she really wanted them to be invited.
Went for a walk with my little guy this morning and took the long route which leads to the final leg, an uphill stretch to my house. About 1/3 of the way up I had a contraction and it seriously felt like my cervix was tearing/stretching or something god awfully painful. I gotta take it easy with pushing the stroller and on my walks, jeeze.

@Portboston: I don't know what my baby's head circumference is! I'll have to make sure I ask the OB when I go next time.
I had a surprise baby shower yesterday, which was nice! I got mostly clothes, which was lovely since we needed them.

@Mizhi: you might not want to know
Your shower sounds fun! Baby clothes are so hard to resist. I swear every time my husband travels for work he comes home with new stuff!

I'm so sorry for not contributing more!
I'm trying to read everything but I just can't manage to reply....
I started having painful contractions three weeks ago and my cervix shortened from more than 5 cm to less than 2cm in two weeks. So I'm on bed rest and the meds are making me crazy sleepy, lightheaded and I feel like my brain is not functioning properly... Right now I'm on high dosed progesterone, magnesium and something I can't remember (in addition to my HG meds and my thyroid meds). My cervix is “stabile” since last week and I had less contractions so they stopped giving me something for lung development and I pray baby stays in there for much much longer!

@lil owl: Oh my!! Lots of August babies getting excited to make their entrance. Wait a bit long we little ones! I'm glad the contractions have come under control for you. Hope they stay that way a while longer.
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
@lil owl: Wow!! Glad things seem to be calming down. Hope that baby stays in for awhile and you start feeling better, too! Thinking of you
nectarine / 2262 posts
@Lil Owl oh no!!! So sorry to hear that! Sounds like we are in the same boat with the preterm labor issues. I am on Procardia (generic - nifedipine) every 6 hours for contractions, and magnesium oxide twice a day although I don't think that does anything.
Lots of good thoughts for you that baby stays put! How far along are you?
pear / 1809 posts
@Mizhi: Yay, I'm glad you got some clothes and had a nice shower!
@lil owl: Sorry to hear you're having a tough time. I hope your baby stays in there a little longer!

I checked the weather for this week, and my city is having a heat wave. The high is going to be 99 almost every day! Isn't that crazy hot?!? I'm definitely only going out in the mornings. I can't handle intense heat not pregnant, so I know it will be even worse now that I'm so far along!
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
@aprild: Yep this is our weather for this week. All I can say is, I'm glad school ended last week because taking the kids out on the playground would be miserable in this heat!!
apricot / 315 posts
@lil owl: fingers crossed for your little one to stay in!
@portboston: welcome I'm in the big baby head club too! His length and body are around 50% but his head is 90% - he has a long head just like his daddy!
I'm so glad it's winter where I am. My body has definitely felt warmer than usual and I don't envy the hot weather you guys are enduring along with pregnancy temps! My little personal heater is doing a great job of keeping me toasty.
persimmon / 1281 posts
@lil owl: oh my! Thinking good stay put thoughts for you! It does seem like a lot of the August babies are eager to come out!
@aprild: holy moly...we're having warmer then normal temps as well but this week should be in the 80s...and compared to 99, that's nothin. Stay cool & hydrated this week mama!
@kitty: thank you! What's with these big headed babies!? Maybe they're all just going to be super smart...that's what I'll tell myself

So I got a call from the OB today ... The 32+3 ultrasound showed low amniotic fluid levels so I'm due to go in tomorrow morning for a NST. Dr. Google is not my friend.
At least I have the basics for baby (mostly) done. The nursery is clean and somewhat organized. Other than missing a few things like crib sheets, a changing pad cover, and wipe spray I *think?* I'm in a good place. I can't be entirely sure, however, since the baby-brain is strong in me. Oh, yes; my car seat hasn't come in the mail yet ...
Anyway, tonight I'm trying to get myself organized and have a hospital bag prepared and a list of last minute to-do's written out *just in case*. And I'm drinking a ton of water, which is torture with baby's head resting on my bladder ...

@Portboston: still catching up on all the posts since I last checked in, but wanted to say HI!!!!!!! As a pug lover, I love your avatar! I have a pug, and a Bugg aka pug x BT. Glad you joined us!

@Torchwood: for events like graduation, my wedding, and baby shower for LO1, I have a few of my moms friends that I always invite. But for the most part I am close with them at least somewhat like a relative. I send them Christmas cards, etc. Do you have any relationship with them?
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@lil owl: oh dear! Yours and @MrsADS: cute little babes need to stay put! But can't blame them for wanting to come hang out. Hope you guys continue to do well.

Whew! What an eventful weekend!!!!!!!
AFM, it's been a lot of up and downs on the child care search. My husband's schedule is so different (it varies week to week) it's hard to find any carecare program that works for us and even nannies it's not easy. His work provides a daycare that works with their schedules but it's at least a half hour drive for me each way, and I WFH. Well, this weekend I think we decided that it's the best option for us. Not the best solution but we don't have any "best" solutions! Everything has pros/cons. Just have to confirm today that they have openings in their age group. Fingers crossed!
Also, I want to get our nanny a small but meaningful gift. This change is expensive for us so I don't have a ton to spend but would like to give her something personal. Our daughter LOVES her and this will be heartbreaking to lose her. Any ideas?

Also this is silly but what does MFM mean!? I keep seeing it on here and I have no idea, lol.
persimmon / 1179 posts
@Portboston: Welcome mama!
@kjpugs: I think it stands for (Doctor of) maternal & fetal medicine? Just what I've always thought though, I could totally be wrong. Glad it looks like you've found a chilcare solution, and it doesn't mean you can't continue to look for something else once you're using the one at DH's work.
persimmon / 1281 posts
@kjpugs: awwww pugs crack me up!!! I love any dog with a squished in face haha. And I *think* MFM is maternal fetal medicine...high risk prenatal drs basically. But not positive.
As far as a gift for your nanny...what about a nice (but simple) necklace? Something that would remind her of you guys when she wears it.
