@kjpugs: ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I love them!!! I love when dogs cuddle with each other!!! I find it terribly adorable and wish my two would do it more!!!

@Portboston: I don't even know how that happened, it's her back leg just randomly spooning haha. They're both pretty old- Amish puppymill rescues- and love the free food a toddler provides! Effie (my DD) is obsessssed with Dixie (the Bugg) and when she comes in the house goes "DIXXXXXXXXXXIE WHERE AREEEEEEEEE YOU!?!?!?" It's too cute. She hasn't quite mastered Sophie, so it sounds more like Dixie with an S haha. Which sounds like Dissy and Sissy coming out of a 20 month old's mouth.

@buttermilk: @torchwood: Hope your baby shower/party was tons of fun! (And anyone else who was having one this past weekend - I tried to look back, but this thread moves so darn fast sometimes)
@kjpugs: Awww, your little pups are so cute!
Ugh, I'm dealing with switching medical insurances right near the end of pregnancy, and it is a HUGE pain! DH's company switched providers as of June 1, so everything I thought I had coordinated now needs to be redone - from preregistration at the hospital to ordering a breast pump. It is NOT fun.

@kjpugs: So cute!
@raspberries: I have a couple of friends who are going through the same thing with insurance. It sounds like a headache!

I went to the park this morning with my toddler. We got there at 9:15 and stayed until 10:30. By the time we left, it was already 88 degrees! He and I were both sweaty and gross when we got to the car. This is some intense heat!
persimmon / 1281 posts
@raspberries: That sounds like a headache!!!!!! Sorry you're having to deal with that at the end of your pregnancy! @aprild: yikes 88 degrees at 10:30am?!?! Its supposed to be 91 here today but it won't get super hot until around 5pm so at least the mornings are cooler. Hope you guys are drinking TONS of water!!!!
pear / 1809 posts
@Portboston: Oh yes! I bring our water bottles everywhere! I just bought DS a water bottle he loves. It's by Contigo and it has a straw that pops up when you open it. He'll drink out of that all day long.

@raspberries: Ugh I hate insurance crap!! My work insurance changed the drug plan a little on January 1st and I'm STILL dealing with crap relating to that! Hope this transition goes smoothly for you guys.

We got our maternity pictures back this weekend and I'm in LOVE with them! Is anyone else doing maternity pictures? I can't really figure out what to do with them hahah...how many pictures of yourself can you really have around the house....we have engagement, wedding and now maternity! I'm starting to feel a bit vain!
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@Portboston: I'm with ya! I'm doing mine in a week. I just bought the dress this weekend. I didn't want to do it this time because I'm heavier and kind of meh, but my husband convinced me!
nectarine / 2086 posts
@Portboston: We had ours taken yesterday. Did them before the baby shower so we were already fixed up.
@raspberries: The shower was incredible! We really had a great time and my girlfriends went all out! It was a bit of a crazy weekend as I had 2 big cake orders and some food to make for the shower that I had insisted on to help out. And of course we went straight from the shower to our 4 hour birthing class lol. But it was all worth it!
Guys I don't know how it happened but we had 90% of our gifts bought from the registry. We really only had like ONE clothing item purchased (I registered for none) and we are having a girl! I'm so relieved lol. And very little ugly plastic crap!
Now we can finally start really getting ready, finishing the nursery and stocking up on the last things we need. Our babies will be here before we know it!
persimmon / 1179 posts
@buttermilk: That is amazing and sounds like my shower was very similar that I got almost my entire registry and allllll gear. So helpful and such a weight off!
@Portboston: We didn't do maternity photos with my first and have no plans to do them this time either. I don't know why? I can't see myself doing too much with them and I preferred to spend the money on my nb shoot but I love others people's photos when they get them! I think I secretly am too judge mental of myself and wouldn't like the way I look in them.

It turns out that I don't have low amniotic fluid ... but I got to see my little girl on the ultrasound again, which was great, and got to hear her heartbeat for 20+ minutes. At least this little scare got us to kick our butts in gear with our hospital bag and other preparation!
pear / 1809 posts
@Portboston: I did maternity photos a little while ago, and I didn't like them at all! I made a post about how disappointed I was. It seemed like the photographer didn't take her time or try to capture me at flattering angles. I looked like a whale in every pic! Anyway, DH wants me to have maternity photos I like, so we are going to try again with another photographer that my friend swears by. My photo shoot is July 1st!
@Mizhi: That's good news!
persimmon / 1281 posts
@Mizhi: glad to hear your fluids are normal!! I was just thinking how we need to pack our bag! It's getting real!
@aprild: that's so disappointing!!! but awesome that you guys are redoing them! Hopefully the new ones will turn out much better
@getjazzy: that makes total sense. We have a friend who did our engagement photos & boudoir photos for me. She gives us a pretty good deal. Otherwise I probably would have spent the money on nb pics as well.
We have our last appointment with our doula today. Next time I see her I'll be in labor. So crazy!!!
pear / 1809 posts
@Portboston: I had a doula with my first! I thought she was a great investment, and definitely made me feel better about the whole labor experience. I liked having someone there who knew what was happening and could coach me along. My husband looked scared the whole time, so I'm not sure how supportive he would have been on his own lol

Well the daycare that is supposed to work with DH's work schedule doesn't have any flex openings (a program they do for employees whose days change, like DH) and they don't have any FT openings either (which we would have to do if we couldn't do flex.) They could only do 3 days which we can't do. So back to the drawing board. I have spent so much time this month crying over this. Just met with another prospective nanny who was late, didn't call (I called her when she was 6 minutes late) and somehow DH loved her? Ugh. NO. I can't handle this.
persimmon / 1179 posts
@kjpugs: Noo!! I thought they had mostly told you they could accommodate? Ugh, what a head ache. I hope you meet the perfect nanny soon!
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@getjazzy: yes on the tour they were all "yes we have flex options for cast members who work variable schedules!" but then at the end told us to call this one M-F person to get the process started and she told us yesterday they had no flex openings left and no FT openings either. I guess they're limited. It makes me angry bc the FT tuition for both girls (which they don't even have available anyway) would be almost as much as DH's paycheck. Thanks a lot, happiest place on earth. Since they can't give him a set schedule no one will work with us. Cue more tears. I cannot handle this.
persimmon / 1179 posts
@kjpugs: I'm sorry . Since it would equal DH's salary is it possible for him to take a leave of absence or something until you find something? I mean hopefully you find something in the next few weeks and that isn't necessary. How soon after baby girl's arrival are expected to go back to work?
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@getjazzy: no, we need child care before she arrives, and he cannot take a LOA. I have 6 weeks off. He gets none. He'll use whatever PTO he has left.
persimmon / 1281 posts
@kjpugs: That's SO frustrating!! Especially since they told you that they could accommodate you. I hope you are able to find something that will work for you
pear / 1955 posts
@kjpugs: Awww, that sounds awful - fingers crossed that you find a nanny you both like soon. Do you have any more lined up to interview? We had to suck it up and go with the super expensive daycare - we'll be paying a little more than my paycheck each month we have to stay there, but we're on a few waiting lists so I'm hoping we'll be able to switch ASAP to something more affordable.
nectarine / 2086 posts
@kjpugs: hope you get a solution and some peace of mind soon. Hugs!
Ladies, we bought a stroller! Shit is getting real.

I have the best coworkers! They totally surprised me with a baby shower yesterday. Our big gift from my department was our video monitor. We also got some smaller things like diapers, wipes, clothes, burp cloths, and toys. Somehow they even managed to get my workaholic husband to come, and I had no idea. I have my family shower this weekend, so I have even more excitement to look forward to.
Speaking of my workaholic husband, his work has been super crazy the last couple of months. The company is trying to grow too fast without hiring enough resources to support all the new business they've been taking on. So he's been working crazy hours around the clock. He finally got fed up and is handing in his resignation today. He's found a new job that he's excited about, but the schedule isn't ideal. It's good that he'll have set hours and won't be expected to monitor his phone all night. But still, he'll be working 9-8 Wed-Sat at the new job. So it sounds like I'll be on my own for dinner and bedtime most nights and will have Saturdays to myself. He's hoping that he'll be able to move up with the new company eventually so the schedule hopefully won't be forever. I'm not crazy about the hours, but it seems like a great opportunity, so I told him we'd make it work. I was really worried about his old job leaving him alone long enough to have some time off when the baby is born.

@krispi: awesome surprise shower!! My last job did that for me with my first LO. They invited all the parents of the kids in my class and it was so sweet! I figured it out (because my kids are 4-5 years old.. Can't keep secrets ), but I still pretended like I never knew a thing!
And I totally understand about the job situation. DH is currently looking into other jobs as well, hopefully so I can SAH. The unknown is kinda scary, especially since I'm not coming back to this job either way and today is my last day here (yay!!). I'm really excited about these next 7 weeks at home with my toddler before he becomes a big brother. And I'm just hoping and praying DH hears something back from one of his possibilities. If not, he'll continue teaching and I'll just look for another job during maternity leave.
persimmon / 1281 posts
@buttermilk: whoo!!! which one did you get?
@krispi: Ugh starting a new job right before baby can be stressful. But hopefully in the long run, it will be best for you both and he will be able to be more present while at home. I have that issue with my DH. Most of the time I want to throw his phone out the f*$king window!!!
pear / 1955 posts
@buttermilk: I just got an update via email that our stroller and car seat were delivered this morning! I can't wait to get home and open them. Eeeek!
@krispi: Awww, that's so sweet of your coworkers! And good luck with your husband's job switch - are you switching health insurances too? It's a huge pain, but it'll be worth it in the end.
nectarine / 2086 posts
@Portboston: We went with the uppababy vista. I'm so excited! We decided the investment was worth it since we live in a city and primarily walk everywhere. Plus I got a very good deal on it!
@raspberries: so much fun!!

@lilteacherbee: Congrats on your last day!! I got signed off work early so I'm off starting now, until baby arrives too! I'm looking forward to having the time (and hopefully energy?!) to get prepared for another baby in the house. Good luck to your DH on his job search!
@krispi: That's so cool about the baby shower! My work is lame in that department and they don't do anything at all for any occasions, it's pretty crummy actually. The new job for your DH sounds awesome! Even though you'll be on your own a little bit, for him to be off Sun-Tues is really great! I'm on my own for dinner-bedtime a few times a week and often on weekends too (they cut back staffing at my DH's workplace and he often has to work weekends now) and it's not as bad as I thought it would be, especially with a younger baby. It's just now getting more challenging with an opinionated 2 year old haha.
@buttermilk: @raspberries: What strollers/carseats did you ladies go with?
I see my OB tomorrow for my 34 week check up which I presume will be uneventful as the last few have been. Anyone have appointments this week?
Been realizing I need to prepare for baby in a more urgent way. I need to shop for postpartum supplies, pack my bag and get the carseat out of storage. Ahhh!!
pear / 1955 posts
@getjazzy: We got the Britax B-Agile and B-Safe travel system - tried it out in-store, then found a better deal online and bought it there. I hope the seat fits in our car alright though - I didn't think to check that out in person, but the reviews online say it should sooo... fingers crossed.
Also, I just made lists for what to put in my hospital bag and diaper bag - I feel like actually putting them together will make everything feel so real!

@buttermilk: That's awesome! I think it will totally be a good investment if you guys are walkers. I can imagine how annoying it would be to deal with a stroller you don't like! We went with the city mini and got the attachment for the carseat. I have friends who love it so I'm hoping we do as well! We do quite a bit of walking on the weekends!
@getjazzy: I'm jealous you got signed out of work! I am dying to go on short term right now...sooooo exhausted. I really don't know how people have two kids. I could not imagine chasing a 2 year old around right now!
We have an appointment next week....which I'm sure will be uneventful. But we are doing group prenatal appointments and this is our 2nd to last one with the group. After that, we will go back to individual appointments. I will miss my group! Its been fun to connect with others in our city who are having babies!
persimmon / 1179 posts
@raspberries: I think you will be fine with the b-safe! We have the chaperone which I think is slightly bigger front to back, esp with the base having the anti-rebound bar and we didn't have problems installing, even when DH had an Acura CSX. We both have SUVs now though because it was slightly annoying in a smaller vehicle. It fit though so you will be fine on that account.
@Portboston: Being pregnant with #2 is much harder than I thought it would be!!! I didn't expect this level of exhaustion, I'm such a mombie most days lol. Try and keep in touch with some of the parents you meet in your prenatal appointments, I've loved having friends I met through prenatal yoga. I'm still close with 3 from my time in classes with my first and it's awesome having friends who can relate to the parenting stages I'm going through and, built in friends for my little guy do it makes it easier to all get together. All of them are expecting #2 as well

@getjazzy: @raspberries: @Portboston: Yes, so excited about the stroller! I've been struggling about a car seat because we don't own a car, though we can use my brother's whenever we want aka to go to target. But he may sell it soon, and we don't even take taxis that often. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on an infant car seat when they don't last all that long anyway, and driving isn't a part of our daily lives on top of it. So yesterday we finally decided to just skip it altogether. We are going to get a Combi Cocorro which is a smallish convertible that should last until 2.5-3years. Since it is small it will be hopefully less annoying to lug into a taxi when we do need to.

I am starting to get a little bit tired of being pregnant. Starting to really feel some exhaustion again, it's SO hard getting up off the couch and bed. And the baby must be really growing because the movements all feel so big and weird! How do I have 8 more weeks!?
nectarine / 2086 posts
Oh and yesterday I seriously just sat on the toilet for like 5 minutes and peed a little bit more every 20 seconds. Lol kill me.
persimmon / 1179 posts
@buttermilk: Good choice! I know someone who doesn't have a car either and uses the carseat for taxi only or rental cars and she has had a cocorro since birth.
persimmon / 1281 posts
@buttermilk: omg me too!!! I just started to feel "over it" about a week and a half ago (I'm 33 weeks today). I told my husband "I'm DONE being pregnant". I'm uncomfortable and exhausted!!! I really think these last 2 months of pregnancy are uncomfortable so we are more ready to give birth...at least that's what I keep telling myself!
