@Portboston: Oh I definitely got my hopes up last time. I skipped one check because I was feeling disheartened, but I think I would have gone NUTS not having at least one. I'd be thinking the baby would fall out and I must be 5cm etc!! (I wasn't even 5cm when I was first in the hospital, hahaha!)

@kjpugs: I want cervical checks! I think my.first is this Friday when they do the gbs swab. I will take them and any sweeps when they offer... Whatever the doctors want!

@Mrs. Microscope: Im terrified of a memberane sweep! They never offered and I told myself I would just do it after 40 weeks but see arrived before my 40 week checkup. I dunno if I could handle sweeps! But if I go late I will be jumping on a trampoline 24/7 so I'd probably be ok with them haha. ((Shudder)) im already gearing myself up for the checks. Nothing like an arm up in you all up to their elbow.

I had my 36 week appointment yesterday. I ended up with an NST because she wasn't moving as much as she had been (still 10 movements every hour or two though). NST looked fine except for gaps when she'd make big movements. I have a biophysical scheduled for an hour from now and I'm kind of freaking out. She was moving this morning pretty normally, but since I got to work it has been taking ice water for movement. I didnt eat much of a breakfast this morning, so I'm hoping that has something to do with it (I'll be eating before the scan).

Needless to say I'm pretty useless at work right now.

Guess who woke up early with food poisoning? (ME.) At least I assume so since by 11ish I was better. Nothing better than throwing up while having #2 in front of your husband and child. GREAT AM. DH called off work since we weren't sure if I would be better to go pick up LO from school or even take care of her. So now I feel guilty because I feel better. Not a great day!

@kjpugs: ugh! Hope you are feeling better. Sounds awful!

Had my GBS test today- should hear back next week. Also did a cervical check! She could feel the baby's head but said he was still pretty high. I am at 1 cm already but she said not surprising since this is my second. I like knowing these things so am happy to have the info!

@abmamma: EEK! Progress!!! Babies will be here before we know it.

I had a cervical check at my 36 week appointment when she was doing my GBS swab (yay! came back neg!). Yesterday I rushed in for my appointment because I was having distorted vision which can be a sign of pre-e. Luckily my BP was normal/low end and my protein was trace amounts which is normal for me, so turned out to be a migraine pre-cursor. We skipped the cervical check because the migraine made it so I couldn't lay down without pain. I went home and pretty much layed in bed dying for 3 hours until it finally passed. I was laying fetal position praying not to throw up or die, so awful!!

I will be opting out of my cervical check next week at 38 weeks because my OB is away and another one (male) is covering for her. Since there's no real need for one besides my curiosity, I decided I'm good with keeping a random man out of my hoo-ha. Will be resuming checks after that though from 39 weeks and on when I'm assuming she will also offer sweeps and I will take em. They aren't comfortable, but if there's a chance they'll help bring on labour, I'll do it!

I think I finally have everything for the nursery. Needed a couple of baskets for storage since I moved the ones we used to have in there over to my toddler's room. Also got my toddler a gift from the baby, a reusable coloring pad with a water pen and reusable sticker pad by melissa and doug, plus a new baby book and big brother book.

Carseats are going in tonight and my bags are almost done being packed! Whew!

Oh and I asked my OB about EPO, she said she personally doesn't suggest nor forbid it but she doesn't believe it does much. She also said she worries about it because dosages and even the products themselves aren't very regulated like medications are. I definitely think that's just her school of thought on any natural remedies though. I haven't decided if I will do it or not yet.

@kjpugs: Ugh sorry about the food poisoning!! That's terrible. Although, I read a birth story on here about the mama thinking she had a stomach bug and it turned out she was in labour

@Ms. RV: Hope everything is ok!! Get moving little one and don't scare mommy like that.

@getjazzy: oh trust me I was panicking to make sure I wasn't missing anything!!!!! Luckily I'm feeling better and Izzie has been moving around tons so I know she's ok at least. The pain was way up high. I told DH, I don't even know where my stomach/intestines ARE at this point. Like I was getting stomach pains and gurgles up HIGH- near my ribs- and on the sides! Pregnancy really does F up your insides and move them all around!!!!!!!!!

  19. getjazzy

    persimmon / 1179 posts

@kjpugs: That's so true! I hadn't even thought of that but your intestines would for sure be... everywhere else at this point! Basically wherever they will fit lol. Glad you seem to be feeling better!

  20. kjpugs

    grapefruit / 4862 posts

@getjazzy: I hadn't really considered it until today either. Oh, and every time Izzie kicked certain spots, it was IFFY. Not convenient!!!!!!!!

  21. Portboston

    persimmon / 1281 posts

@kjpugs: @getjazzy: geez we haven't been having luck on this board with health lately!!!! Glad you both are feeling better though!

@getjazzy: I'm really iffy on the membrane sweeps....I realize they can bring on labor but I've heard about women's water breaking after a membrane sweep before having any contractions! I definitely do not want that to happen! I think I will decline those until/if I hit 41 weeks

  22. kjpugs

    grapefruit / 4862 posts

@getjazzy: omg I cannot imagine dealing with migraines like that. Glad you seem to be doing better. Things like that are so hard to deal with while preg!!!!!!

  23. getjazzy

    persimmon / 1179 posts

@Portboston: Definitely possible! I think the rate of membranes actually rupturing is probably low but there's always still a chance of course. I had 2 or 3 sweeps with my first and nothing happened except a bit of cramping for 30 mins or so immediately after. I figure if my water breaks and no labour progresses then the outcome will be the same as if I don't go in to labour at all (repeat c-section) so why not. They aren't pleasant feeling though, so it'll be nice for you not to go through that!

  24. Portboston

    persimmon / 1281 posts

@getjazzy: That's true and a really good point...I guess if I'm at 41 weeks and there are no signs of labor my water breaking wouldn't be a bad thing. Ill definitely consider it at that point!

Had my 37 week appt today. She checked me me and said my cervix is soft and a barely a fingertip dilated. much to my relief! My husband has a work trip next week and baby either needs to come before Sunday or after Thursday when he gets home!
I don't remember exactly but I don't think I had any progress at 37 weeks last time.

Hope everyone is feeling better! No more puking and migraines!

@kjpugs: glad you are feeling better! I had a 24 hour stomach bug at 33 weeks and it was unpleasant to say the least and it was hard to distinguish between baby girl moving and the random rumblings/queasiness of my stomach and intestines. Can't imagine having it this late in the game!

I'd just like to say that having a huge jar of Nutella in the house while pregnant was a huge mistake. I'm probably going to gain five lbs this week from my Nutella consumption alone.

Had my 37 week appt today, and she did not offer to check, so who knows where I am at! She doesn't think EPO is necessary since my cervix has already proved it can dilate, but go ahead with RRL tea. Also, my belly measured about 36 instead of 37.

I am ready for this baby to come out! More things to do around the house, but I am over being preggo and I am worried I will go late again. Selfishly, my birthday is 8/17, so I'd prefer before then! My dad wants 8/18 because my mom is 8/19.

@buttermilk: Thanks for checking in with us! It's actually going really, really well. I think mostly because she's such a sleepy preemie, so I'm not sure it'll last, but it's great right now. She basically never cries, and sleeps great. It sucks having to wake her up every three hours to eat! DH is taking 1-2 feeds per night, so we're both getting good stretches of sleep, not just him. The only thing I'm not happy about is pumping all the dang time, but I'm staying ahead of her, so I'm getting a good stash going, which is great. The plan is to go to full time nursing by the time she's term, but since I'll have a stash DH can still do a night feed. Nursing is still not really happening, but she is latching well. She just falls asleep. But everything/one says that's normal, and she'll start waking up more and more as she grows.

She has a weight check tomorrow, which I'm irrationally nervous about. She's eating plenty! And what are they going to do? At most they'll have us fortify her feeds a little more (she currently gets a teeny bit of formula mixed into her milk for extra calories). Still nervous though. But rather excited to get out of the house.

I'm ready for ya'll to join me on this side of things! I know you're getting close!

But really, I'm shockingly happy right now. She's so amazingly perfect, and I'm not near as tired as I was afraid I'd be (hopefully that doesn't change anytime soon). I love being a mommy!

@Mrs. J: Haha my sister's bday is the 18th and if I remember correctly your sister and I have the same bday (year and all!). I really have a feeling you'll be early this time, though! And I totally agree- I'm physically DONE but mentally, I don't wanna go before my RCS date!

@Torchwood: So happy for you!! She's adorable! And fwiw, my LO was an amazing sleeper as a newborn (we usually had to wake him to feed for the first couple of weeks). From 3-10 months, he only woke once and went right back to sleep easily. Since 10 months, he sleeps through the night and right now at 20 months, he sleeps from 8pm-6:30/7am. He has had a few regressions, but overall, he's been a dream (and that scares me for this LO!!). You never know!!

@Mrs. Pickle: Wow!! That explains so much haha

@Torchwood she is a doll! So glad you are all doing well, looks like she's doing great. I'm still pregnant at 34w1d, cervix down to nothing, still having crazy amounts of contractions and cramping... but, no baby yet, so we'll see!

@Mrs. Pickle well, this diagram explains several things:
    1. My heartburn (my stomach is under my boobs - really?!)
    2. Why I can't poop (intestines are so squashed )
    3. Why I have to pee every 15 minutes even when my bladder is not that full! (baby's head uses it as a trampoline!)

Ladies, I nearly murdered my husband tonight.

Apparently his friend whose wife just had a baby warned him today that it "stinks real bad in there" (the delivery room), and for some reason he thought it was a good idea to tell me this while I was standing naked in front of him feeling like a huge, hot, COW trying to find something I felt mildly attractive in so we could go to dinner with our friends. I LOST IT!! Omg how dumb is he!?

I know my hormones are raging these days but seriously! I also broke out into a hysterical sobbing mess last night when he casually poked fun at me for loading the dishwasher in a weird way. He really is the sweetest guy, but I told him he needs to stop and think before he says shit like that to his 8 months preggo wife!!

@lilteacherbee: can I hate you just a little for that sleep?! My son did great until the 4 month sleep regression. Then it all went to hell with multiple wake ups at night until he was 2. Now at 3 he still wakes up once to get in our bed. Which I'm currently trying to break him of by walking him back to his room. His sleep was so bad, and my expectations are so low that this baby can't surprise or worry me.

@Torchwood: she's such a sweet little burrito in her swaddle!

Haven't posted since the beginning, but it is getting super exciting as we near the end here! I am almost 38 weeks (Saturday) and this past Monday at my 37 week appt I was 3 cm dilated and 50% effaced. Yikes!!!
However, with my DD I was 3 cm and 90% effaced for two whole weeks and even then she was induced. Hoping for some time next week. My DH is going on a fishing trip 1 hr away this weekend and I just don't want the drama of having him have to rush out and leave (it is a work competition thing).

    @Torchwood: so sweet!!

I am going for a massage today. Woohoo!! So excited. I emailed my principal this morning to remind her that I will be pumping (she's not the most supportive), so I hope the schedule is ok.
