@Torchwood: So cute! And great job on the sleeping too!

Yesterday was my first day with dual doctors appointments, so that made for a long morning. I didn't get any new information though. Fluid was still slightly high on the MFM ultrasound, so we'll do another one next week. So far, they're still just keeping an eye on it. I wish they'd let me do the ultrasounds at the OB office so I don't have to go sit and wait at 2 different places (not to mention double peeing in a cup, weight, and blood pressure), but oh well. My OB appointment was pretty routine. Next week will be my 36 week appointment, so they'll do the group B test, some other blood work, and we'll talk more about labor and delivery plans.

My toddler has recently discovered/talks about his "pee pee." He just lifted my shirt to kiss the baby and saw my belly button that used to be a deeeeep innie, but has now popped out. He pointed to it and asked "pee pee?!"

    That just happened.

@Mrs. J: I think Im the only person I know who is 100% ok ith baby being late lol. I'm do the 5th and Im fine with him staying until the 15th at the latest! I might change my tune in about a week or so Enjoy your massage!!!!

@Torchwood: Shes so adorable!!! Glad the sleeping is going well. Hopefully she will be ready to nurse in a few weeks!

@buttermilk: oh wow...I think I would be pissed at my husband if he said anything about the delivery room smelling bad....as far as Im concerned he can go f*&K himself after what Ive dealt with for the past 10 months!!!!!

@lilteacherbee: hilarious...oh man. Im not prepared for toddler antics and learning about body parts lol

@buttermilk: we heard the smell thing during our birth class! I made essential oil sprays to use if we feel sick from it... Peppermint wild orange is what was recommended.

But if it had been brought up the way you mentioned, I would have lost it!

@Mrs. Microscope: @buttermilk: Okay I've never heard this about the delivery room smelling and DH never said anythign to me about it with LO#1 nor did I notice anything. I hate to ask, but what is the smell supposed to be from? All the bodily fluids?

@buttermilk: @Mrs. Microscope: I work in a birthing suite, trust me it doesn't smell that bad. Amniotic fluid does have a bit of a smell, but it's nothing vile or anything. And then there's just the chance of pooping whole pushing but I should hope at that moment in time your hubs wouldn't give a shit (pun completely intended).

It other news, my pregnancy complaint of the week: night sweats. I have woken up drenched the last 3 nights, hair stuck to my neck, pillow soaked through and sticky all over... But I don't feel too hot! Only happens from 11-3 and I wake up normal in the morning.

Is this happening to anyone else? Is it just crazy hormones?

  13. Mrs.Scientist

    cherry / 211 posts

@Mrs. Microscope: I haven't had this happen while pregnant but for the first 2-3 weeks postpartum I had horrible, horrible night sweats. I'm assuming it was a result of my body getting rid of all the excess fluid but it was terrible and I"m not looking forward to experiencing that again this time.

  16. buttermilk

    nectarine / 2086 posts

@Mrs. Microscope: I haven't had that yet. Another thing to look forward too! I am getting to that point where between peeing 4-5 times per night and flopping around constantly that I feel like I'm always a little bit awake.

How's everyone doing with stretch marks? At 36+2 I still don't have any, but I know I am not out of the woods yet and will most likely wake up with some tomorrow now that I've admitted this!

@Mrs. Microscope: no night sweats yet but Im anticipating PP night sweats based on my swelling!

@buttermilk: Im holding strong at 37+1 but feel like Ill be one of the ones who gets them at +40 weeks and Ill be cursing for being past due!!!!!

@buttermilk: Just had a couple of stretch marks pop up this past week (right around 36 weeks... and 2 days before my 30th birthday - talk about a double whammy when it comes to aging, ha.) Still using Vitamin E oil and hydrating like crazy, but I suspect it's all downhill from here!

@buttermilk: I didn't get even the faintest stretch mark with LO#1 but this time around I haven't been so lucky. I have a few on my lower tummy. DH says they aren't bad but I'm not a fan of how they look, obviously. Hoping they fade fast once I deliver.

@Mrs.Scientist: I've heard about the pp night sweats... I just didn't expect them now! My.feet are a bit less swollen and I can actually squeeze my wedding ring on, so maybe I just reached some maximum water capacity and my body is sweating it out?! Ha, who knows!

@buttermilk: none yet, but I'm still diligent with my oil and lotion routine. Fingers crossed for the next 2-5 weeks!

You guys have been talking a lot lately! I've read all the comments, but it's overwhelming to reply to everyone haha.

I just had my 36 and half week appointment. For some reason, I got in this habit of having appointments on Thursdays, so they have all been half week appointments. They did the GBS swab, checked my iron (looks good) and had me pee in a cup, which is very difficult to do at 36 weeks. I can't see past my stomach, so I had no idea where to position the cup! I only got a tiny sample, but it was enough for them. Blood pressure is great and baby sounds good.

I talked to the midwife some more about VBACs. She's so laid back, so she's not super helpful about helping me decide what to do. I want to try for a VBAC, but I'm nervous about things going in the same direction as last time. I also don't want to try for a VBAC past my due date, but apparently I don't need to schedule a C-section is advance. She said a doctor is pretty much always available to do C-sections. So I can't get anyone to tell me what is best, they keep saying I should do whatever feels right to me. As long as baby and I are healthy (which we are), I can try for the VBAC, and if I don't want to, I can get a C-section pretty much whenever. I guess I'm taking things a week at a time for now.

@buttermilk: No stretch marks here! I didn't get any last time, so I'm hoping I'll be lucky this time too.

@Buttermilk don't feel bad, I almost murder my husband on a pretty regular basis too. And he is a super nice, sweet guy. I know I am being irrational sometimes but I can't stop it. LOL. I just apologize later once the rage leaves me, haha.

I don't have any stretch marks yet at 34+2 but I know soooo many people who thought they were "out of the woods" and woke up one day at 37, 38, 39+ weeks to a belly full of bright red stretch marks. So I feel like it could happen at any time still.

I'm also so tired from the constant flopping around all night. Just can't get comfortable, I contract every time I roll over/change positions, I can't breathe through my nose at all at night, plus waking up with the 3am heartburn... blech.

@buttermilk: I don't have any yet, but I got a few with LO on my hips at 39 weeks. Not very noticeable at all.

Got my massage and finishing a pedicure...I feel like a new lady!

    Got my GBS results...negative! WHOO!

@aprild: Wouldn't it just be easier if they could make the decision for you!? hopefully once the time gets closer, you will be able to decide whats best for you

@MrsADS: flopping around is the PERFECT way to describe how I feel during the night!

@buttermilk: @portboston: @mrsads: thank you thank you for sharing this about your frustrations with your DHs. I have really had a short fuse with DH lately and I know it's mostly due to hormones - he could do know wrong like 8 weeks ago!! I found out he's been telling coworkers and friends and family that I have had a really easy pregnancy... that it's been a walk in the park. Which, yes, it hasn't been hard and I am really grateful that we got pregnant easily and haven't had any complications. BUT he should know better than to say it's "easy." If only men could be pregnant.... hahaha.

Also, no stretchmarks yet but I'm a bit behind y'all at just 34 weeks. The veins on my belly are more pronounced, and my mom said she got stretchmarks at the very end but they faded eventually.

@buttermilk: One of DH's friends when we first got married tried to convince us to have a kid right away and told DH all about it. And said it smelled bad too! I think he described it as being mostly because of the blood. I don't remember experiencing that though!

Good news, I think. Apparently the sonographers have to observe certain things within a half hour for the biophysical profile and she saw them all after five minutes. Just have to wait to hear back from my doc on fluid levels. Baby is moving 90% what she used to, but I think it may be 100% and I'm just being super paranoid about the other 10%.

I am not pushing myself so hard at work anymore. Tuesday I was all over the place and part of me wonders if I was too busy to notice movement. No more. I'm at my desk or sitting in a meeting or lab for at least twenty minutes every hour now so I can pay attention to her!

@buttermilk: I've got about 6 stretch marks pop up in the last 2 weeks (boo!) I didn't get any with LO1 but not so lucky this time, thankfully they don't look too bad (so far!)

@Mrs. Microscope: No night sweats but I remember having them postpartum last time! We're in the middle of winter and usually end up kicking my blankets off during the night because I'm so warm though (when normally I am freezing all the time in winter!)

Exhaustion has offically hit! This growing a baby business sure is tiring! I feel bad though because I had lots of plans for mommy-daughter dates with LO1 in these last few weeks but I have zero energy. Plus the housework hasn't been done this week so now dh has a big to-do list this weekend! Thankfully the baby stuff is organised otherwise I would be in panic mode right now!

This is thread is up to 99 pages! Woooo!

@Mrs. J: Massages are the best! I love relaxing and unwinding at the spa.

@Portboston: It would be for sure! I'm still wanting to try for a VBAC, just hoping it goes better than last time.

@Ms. RV: That is good news! I'm glad baby is moving.

@MrsStar: I'm starting to feel tired too. I was going on neighborhood walks with DS in the mornings, but now I feel like I'm doing a good job if I just take him to the playground. It's so hot outside that I think that definitely makes it worse.

Last night I was feeling extra tired, so I went to bed an hour earlier than usual. I was fast asleep when I heard my two year old crying on the monitor. Sometimes he'll whine for a minute and go back to sleep, but this time it kept escalating and he was screaming mama. I went to his room and he wanted me to hold him and didn't want to go in his crib. It's so hard when your kid only wants you, and all you want is sleep! After trying to get him to go back in his crib for 20 minutes, I finally took him to the master bed to sleep with me and DH. This never turns out to be a good idea. He immediately thought it was playtime, and started jumping on us or talking to the dog. This started a new routine of putting him in his crib, taking him to the master bed, and then putting him back in his crib over and over again. He was awake from 12am to 4am before he finally went to sleep for good in his crib! I don't know what's up with him, but it was a rough night for me.

@aprild: Oh man, one of those nights! They are so rough, even more so when you're approximately 47 months pregnant. Hang in there today, it's going to be a rough one.

Have you (or any of the other 2nd time + mommies) noticed a change in your other children? My DS is 2 but has reverted back to being super clingy, wanting to be carried and crying at daycare drop off which he hasn't done in almost a year! I really think he is feeling the his he coming and I feel terrible about it!

@getjazzy: LO 2 is really clingy and kinda emotional right now. She wants to be "next to Mommy" all the time!

August is coming up...I can't wait to hear about some births and babies!!!

  34. OhCaptain

    kiwi / 696 posts

@getjazzy: mine has started playing "baby."
He wants to be carried because he is a baby, he likes to crawl around because he is a baby, this morning he asked to nurse(!) because he is a baby. These behaviors are all talked about in one of the books we got to learn about having a baby. Hes still ok with being dropped off places and being away from me, but I think he will struggle when parts of our routine change (like right now he and I cuddle on the couch when he wakes up) so we will see!

@getjazzy: My LO has become super attached to me since I've been home for the summer. He's still mostly the same (not much whining, etc) but if I'm in the house, he wants me RIGHT there with him.

36 week appointment is done! Baby is still head down and super squirmy, and I didn't get measured this week because she is still so low and they know she is growing ok after last week's ultrasound. I will get measured again next week. No internal check, but I got swabbed for gbs. Hopefully it's negative because I'm penicillin allergic, and my doctor said the back up antibiotic of clindamycin usually doesn't work, leaving vancomycin and a 2-3 hour infusion upon hospital check in. Fingers crossed i get good news next week!

This is all getting very real! Today at the gym I asked the owner what would happen with my membership, while I was recovering. He whipped out a medical hiatus form and had me fill it out. When I told him my due date he said he'd start the hiatus aug 1. I asked him what I could do if I still wanted to workout in August if the baby isn't here yet. He said "oh, I'm sure you'll only be in a few times even if you do go over." And I realized he's probably right. 38 weeks tomorrow! Insert all the expletives!

@aprild: We had a night like that the night before last. LO passed out at 7.30pm and woke at 9pm crying and wouldn't settle, bought her into our bed hoping she would fall asleep but she was more interested in rolling around and telling me stories. Thankfully I got her back to her bed eventually but she was so grumpy the next day from being overtired! Really hoping her sleep doesn't get messed up when baby is here!

@getjazzy: Lo is definitely more cuddly lately and she randomly started crawling around the house again! Toddlers are weird!

Feeling some massive guilt at the moment for how this is going to disrupt LO's world - I'm excited for her to have a sibling but she's my baby and we've had almost 3 years so I'm scared how this baby is going to change our relationship. Mom guilt is hard.
