@CoffeeMom: it *can* be a start of early labor, but it also could be several weeks before labor starts. Probably worth a call to ob/midwife just in case.

@agold: Once I went back to work (at 8 weeks PT last time) I had the worst guilt doing anything just for myself, now with our 2.5 year old I dont mind as much, but that first year I felt so so so incredibly guilty being away from the baby. I wasnt expecting it, its just what happened. She was also a boob monster, and used me as her human pacifier too, so thats why anything beyond 2 hours was too much for her at first (and until she got used to a bottle).

@CoffeeMom: I'm sorry -- no experience over here. Did you already call your dr? Have you still been in bed rest?
cherry / 239 posts
@OldpuebloJenn: @pregnantbee: I talked to my midwife earlier today. It could be nothing or it could be the start of early labor. I've been on bed rest anyway, so have been instructed to continue that unless something else changes. Hoping the contractions don't ramp up anymore and baby stays in for a while!

@T.H.O.U.:
1. What are you doing for the 4th of July weekend (or in general for those out of the US)?
We are leaving for our trip tomorrow morning. My aunt hosts a sort of family reunion/beer tasting competition so we will be doing that tomorrow and spending the night with her, then heading to the coast on Sunday. The house is on the water, but its a rocky shore so we will do a beach trip one day, and my parents will watch my daughter on another day so my husband and i can do some shopping, hopefully catch a movie, and go out for dinner! Usually we do a lot of hiking and walks, but since I can barely move I anticipate I will just be reading a lot. Vacationing with my parents is awesome- they basically just try to let my husband and I relax the whole time (they take multiple trips to the house, so they focus on our daughter on this one!)
2. What is your go to summer time party snack/drink while pregnant?
I want a margarita so badly. So. Badly. I had a sip of a friends and I'm dying for more.
I've been drinking coconut water to stay hydrated on very hot days, and I like keeping my water in the fridge so its nice and cold. I sometimes have those pelligrino sodas, and I like mixing a little lemonade or juice with sparkling water, too.
3. Did you have any fourth of July or summer traditions you remember growing up that you want to replicate for your kids?
I'm excited for my daughter to stay up and see the sunset and fireworks on the 4th. She is usually in bed by 7:00, but I told her we could stay up and see the sunset one night on our vacation. My dad is buying some fireworks, and I"m sure people will be setting them off over the harbor, too.
I grew up going to this house, and so it is FULL of memories for me. I love seeing my daughter enjoy it there. We mostly just have lazy days of playing outside, exploring the shore, etc.

Also, today is my daughter's last day at the in-home day care she's been in for nearly two years. She starts at a small pre-school in the fall, two days a week. I'm feeling pretty emotional about it all

@CoffeeMom: Glad you talked to your midwife, I hope it's not a sign of anything imminent and baby stays put! How are you doing on bedrest in general?
@T.H.O.U.: Oooh, fun! Good questions.
1. What are you doing for the 4th of July weekend (or in general for those out of the US)? This year we aren't really doing much 4th of July-ish. We are going out to a new restaurant tomorrow night that I've been wanting to go to for months. It's supposed to be really good, so I'm excited! Otherwise I'd like to spend a lot of time relaxing and also getting our act together on the baby gear front. We still have a lot to do to prepare, so I'm starting to get nervous!
2. What is your go to summer time party snack/drink while pregnant? I've really been liking lemonade and also smoothies. Yesterday I made one for breakfast and then a different kind after work for a snack. This morning I bought a smoothie for breakfast. It's so hot out, so they feel very refreshing!
3. Did you have any fourth of July or summer traditions you remember growing up that you want to replicate for your kids? My neighborhood growing up did a 4th of July themed bicycle decorating contest, which was always fun. Then we would go to a country club near us for fireworks on the golf course. You didn't have to be members, anyone in the community could go. That was always really nice, because it was less crowded and there was a lot less hoopla than at the fireworks on the Mall (I grew up in the DC area). My husband and I had our wedding reception there, which I was happy about because I have a lot of good memories from that place I hope to find something similarly fun, low-key and neighborhood-centric to do with my kids! Once we actually have a house and neighborhood...haha

@MrsSCB: I need to get better about smoothies! Actually on my pre-baby to do list I want to try to find some good flavors/mixes I like and then pre-bag the frozen fruit.
pomelo / 5257 posts
@T.H.O.U.: They are so good! For breakfast, I've been doing a frozen mix of strawberries, mango and papaya (which I bought bagged because I was feeling lazy), half a banana, some plain yogurt, orange juice, spinach and ice. For after work, I did decaf espresso, a banana, some unsweetened cocoa powder, yogurt and ice. I would recommend both, they turned out well!
cherry / 239 posts
@T.H.O.U.: @pregnantbee: Thank you!!!
@MrsSCB: I'm bored out of my mind! I'm usually a very active person, and I've never really been forced to be inactive before. It's hard, especially with my 3 year old DD. I'm trying to keep in mind that it's only for a few more weeks!
pomelo / 5257 posts
@CoffeeMom: Awww, I'm sure I would feel the same way. But yes, so true that there's not too much time left. Crazy!
So my husband just responded to an email between a bunch of our friends about an upcoming wedding: "REALLY wish we could be there but [MrsSCB] is literally not allowed to fly anymore and looks like she should star in the next Kung Fu Panda movie." At least pandas are adorable, if a bit round? lol

Happy EDD month to some of us! Crazy! I wonder who will deliver first??? Aaaaah!
@T.H.O.U.: Good questions!
1. What are you doing for the 4th of July weekend (or in general for those out of the US)?
My neighbor friend is hosting a 4-family (neighbor) potluck tomorrow afternoon, so we'll be going to that. I think that's pretty much our only scheduled activity. I plan to try and finish baby's room, pack as much of my hospital bag as possible, write thank you notes for my son's bday party gifts, hopefully have the opportunity to put my feet up! Oh, and we're buying the extra freezer for the garage.
2. What is your go to summer time party snack/drink while pregnant?
Hmmm. I've been loving chips and onion dip lately. And ALL THE FRUIT, especially watermelon and berries. I also love sparkling water with a squeeze of lemon or lime. Do any of you have a Sprouts market near you? I just discovered an AMAZING non-alcoholic version of a mojito. It's a mint/lime sparkling soda. It's incredible. Truly. In fact, I have to go buy more.
3. Did you have any fourth of July or summer traditions you remember growing up that you want to replicate for your kids?
I grew up in a New England town, and we would always go watch the town's 4th of July parade and the town band perform on the common. They would also host a great little carnival on the common, so we'd do that. As I got older, I would go with my friends to watch an amazing huge concert and fireworks in the nearby city.
I honestly don't know what there is to go to around us here. Our son is 4, and we haven't made any moves to find fireworks in the past b/c it would always be after his bedtime. This year, our son has already told me that he doesn't want to watch fireworks because they are too loud. We could probably convince him to go since we do have noise muffling headphones for him, but meh. Feeling lazy. We'll probably stay home, put the Thundershirt on our firework-adverse dog and hang inside.

1. What are you doing for the 4th of July weekend (or in general for those out of the US)?
-We're celebrating our first born's 2nd birthday on Sunday with a cookout and a bouncy house Last few weeks as an only child kiddo... better enjoy it while you can
2. What is your go to summer time party snack/drink while pregnant?
-E V E R Y T H I N G i'm craving right now is off limits for my GD diet. Melons? Nope. Cold lemonade? Nada. Ice cream? Not a chance. I'm dying here! I try to indulge in moderation but my portion size of those things has to be so small that it's not even worth it to be hungry 20 mins later. *shakes fist at pancreas*
3. Did you have any fourth of July or summer traditions you remember growing up that you want to replicate for your kids?
-Not really, we'd go down and watch fireworks as a family but that's about it. We'll probably try to catch some this year if our LO can stay awake for it!
@CoffeeMom: Hope you're hanging in there mama!

@thismustbetheplace: I love your answer to question #2. I feel the exact same way. I could totally go for a Sonic slushy. Stupid GD. At least baby should be here this month so I'll get to enjoy them in the heat in August.

1. What are you doing for the 4th of July weekend (or in general for those out of the US)?
We are headed up to Northern AZ this afternoon, to spend the weekend in the pines. It's typically 20-30 degrees cooler than the desert, so we are looking forward to a break from he heat. Although my in-laws will be there, so that dampers the fun a little bit.
2. What is your go to summer time party snack/drink while pregnant?
All the guacamole all the time. I've been enjoying a ginger beer, lime juice, pomegranate juice drink for a bit, but also indulging in rosé from time to time!
3. Did you have any fourth of July or summer traditions you remember growing up that you want to replicate for your kids? We always went to watch fireworks, but living in AZ, we go years without fireworks- the wild fire threat is too high, or the summer monsoon season prevents it. We've gone to northern AZ 3 years in a row, and have some nice traditions there, although I'd like to do more to make it feel like a holiday to me, but this year isn't the year to take on more!

1. What are you doing for the 4th of July weekend (or in general for those out of the US)?
Birthday party Saturday, berry picking Sunday, and probably water play in the yard Monday. Not expecting to get a lot done in the house but we will see. Just trying to stay on top of little things.
2. What is your go to summer time party snack/drink while pregnant?
I'm going to try to make some watermelon slushies this weekend. Other than that drinking sweet tea and la croix!
3. Did you have any fourth of July or summer traditions you remember growing up that you want to replicate for your kids? I remember our neighborhood doing a bike parade. We all got to decorate bikes and wagons. It was a lot of fun!

This time next week I'll be getting ready to go into the hospital! I'm freaking out just a tad.
Any advice for a FTM?!
What are some things that y'all wish you knew going into everything? I don't want to be caught off guard by anything!
ANY advice, encouragement, anything will be appreciated
grapefruit / 4717 posts
@MRSWHIT1: So exciting! In the hospital, my #1 advice is to remember that you can refuse things they offer. You can also ask for a "do not disturb" sign for your hospital room door. Otherwise people go in and out constantly and it is hard to rest. When you get home, best advice is to ask for help and realize that your only job is to keep baby fed, dry and loved. Everything else can wait. You'll do great!

@T.H.O.U.: Your blueberries look beautiful but that's awful about the migraine! Was it from being out in the sun, do you think? Hope it passes quickly!
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@mossyslane: yes. I think the heat and then a big thunderstorm blew through. It feels like my normal migraines so I'm not too worried. I do have an appointment Tuesday though.

@T.H.O.U.: I'm so sorry about your migraine. I've never had one but a girl at my party yesterday had to leave abruptly because she got a migraine. She looked miserable and couldn't see. She had to have quite a bit of help from her husband and some other guys to get her and her baby to the car. She's 6 weeks pregnant too. I felt so bad for her. I hope yours isn't as bad.

@T.H.O.U.: Sorry about the migraine, I hope it starts feeling better soon Looks like berry picking was a success, though, that is a lot of berries, yum! I just now pulled a blueberry buckle out of the oven that I'm pretty excited to eat.
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@pregnantbee: @agold: @MrsSCB: thanks! I took an aspirin and drank a soda which seemed to help. I'm sensitive to changes in pressure. The migraine hit after the heat and right as a huge storm blew through the area.

Happy 4th of July, girls! I went in the pool by myself after spin class and stayed in there for hours. I stopped by my MILs house for some food. Went to my sisters house for BBQ. Was given some amazing baby girl hand me downs from her friend. And came home to hang out with my guy for a bit before he left for work. Now me and my growing baby bump are taking a nap. Phew. Busy and great half day of 4th of July! Hope you all are enjoying your day! And just for fun, here's my huge belly! I'd love to see all of your bumps so please post them!

Since I'm a third time mommy we didn't have a baby shower or sprinkle. I've been wanting to stock up on diapers and target has a great deal this week.
Pampers are buy 2 boxes ($24.99) get a $10 target gift card.
I did 3 sets. So 6 boxes of diapers and $30 in gift cards.
Pampers are also 10% off on the cartwheel app.
$24.99 X 6 = $149.94
$149.94 X 90% = $134.94
AND target has a promotion where you get a $25 gift card for $150 spent in their baby department so I added a box of wipes for $15.99
$134.94 + $15.99= 150.93
I spent $150.93 on 6 boxes of diapers and a box of wipes while also walking away with $55 in target gift cards. All for buying things I'm going to be buying anyways.
The $25 gift card with a $150 purchase works for the whole baby department but I really only need diapers as this point so you could purchase different items I was just so happy with my deal I had to share. lol

@Aandmklover: Holy Cow. Do you know if those deals are still on tomorrow?
kiwi / 506 posts
@pregnantbee: I believe it's till the end of the week.
And I didn't really walk away with the gift cards, I immediately spent them on toilet paper, paper towels and other items so we are stocked up for a while.
grapefruit / 4717 posts
@Aandmklover: Oh also, what size boxes (# of diapers) did you get? Also, can't remember how long my first was in each size, so not sure what sizes to get.
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@Aandmklover: you are awesome! I've been wanting to take advantage of that deal and was hoping it didn't end today. I did register at target for my shower and I have a 15% off registry completion discount and was wondering if I could use that on top of all the other promotions. I actually don't have catwheel. Is it an app? And same question as pregnant bee, how many boxes of which size diapers did you get?
kiwi / 506 posts
@pregnantbee: the buy 2 boxes get $10 GC is on a lot of the boxes. I bought 3 newborn boxes (88 count) and 3 size 1 boxes (100 count) I prefer pampers the first few months then switch to up&up. They had other brands and size boxes included like a pampers $34.99 box with larger count numbers I just wanted to get to the $150 As close as possible.
kiwi / 506 posts
@agold: oh man I didn't even think about my 15% completion discount. Bummer. Yes, cartwheel is an app and it's awesome. Almost everything I bought today had 5-10% off on the cartwheel app.
I got 3 newborn and 3 size ones. I figured I could always exchange if I need to but that seemed like a good start. Both my boys before were 6.3 and 6.9 so we were in newborn for while.
