August 2016 moms!

@coopsmama: Yeah, it's very dependent on driving preferences, the car, your height, etc. I drive a Toyota Venza, which in theory should have tons of room, but I just don't feel like it does. I think maybe the front seats are shaped weird, plus I like to sit so far back. I would just love to have a car that more comfortably fit the carseats, but I feel like it's a unicorn, lol.

@LCTBQE: curious about the Target nursing tanks! Can you send link? I'm wondering if they are a bit longer? I prefer longer tanks since my torso is long and don't like tanks riding up my midriff lol.

@ShootingStar: what's funny is I had a Toyota Highlander before the van and rear facing was not optimal behind the driver at all! Maybe it's a Toyota issue.

@mossyslane: Thank you for sharing. So good to hear you are enjoying sweet baby snuggles.

@Silva: Thank you for this, I really need to remember this. I am already feeling some kicks on the right side of my belly again so babe has obviously turned a little bit already. I think it was just hard to feel positive while feeling so exhausted.

@AprilFool: I totally get it. The end of pregnancy is brutal. It's been really hot here, too, and I am not handling any of it with grace.

  6. Silva

I just googled "irritability and impending labor." It's going to be a lonnnng month over here, ladies.
At least my husband is going to pick up an AC unit for our bedroom today. Also he took our daughter grocery shopping (and to Costco) so I can have some silence for a few hours. I really just want to go hole up in a cabin by myself right now.

  7. coopsmama

    cantaloupe / 6059 posts

@Silva: On my end, I feel too good emotionally and physically and it scares me because I felt more irritable with my son and I had him just about on time and I was two weeks late and induced with the last pregnancy I felt awesome at the end with. I'm really hoping that mood plays no part in when you go into labor because, if so, I'll be in it for the long haul yet again.

@mrschickpea: yap, in case the link breaks it's the Target Medela nursing tank for $25.99. I got both black and white and the black one seems nicer and more practical.
    http://www.target.com/p/medela-women-s-slimming-nursing-cami/-/A-14578191?sid=1886S&ref=tgt_adv_XS000000&AFID=google_pla_df&CPNG=PLA_Women%2BShopping_Brand&adgroup=SC_Women&LID=700000001170770pgs&network=g&device=c&location=9004338&lsft=sid:1886S,ref:tgt_adv_XS000000,AFID:google_pla_df,CPNG:PLA_Women%2BShopping_Brand,adgroup:SC_Women,LID:700000001170770pgs,network:g,device:c,location:9004338,gclid:CLqI69vr-s0CFcNahgoduzwD-g,gclsrc:aw.ds&gclid=CLqI69vr-s0CFcNahgoduzwD-g&gclsrc=aw.ds

I have a VERY long torso--I'm the opposite of @shootingstar: no height in my legs over here. it isn't as long as some of my super-long maternity tanks, but it didn't bother me or seem to ride up when I tried it. my usual size for tops is XS or S, and I got these in size S and they're *tight* (but I like that feeling of being sucked in).
ETA--the one that was gifted to me was bought by my girlfriend at the Austin target, and for whatever reason the tag on it's different but it's def the exact same product. The Austin one says "Basics by Bravado Felicity tank" and the tag is green and pink. FYI in case you buy in store down there

@Silva: I actually like the heat but I'd be a train wreck without the bedroom A/C unit! hope you are much more comfortable tonight and that it makes a big difference.

  10. AprilFool

    nectarine / 2591 posts

@Silva: I am googling "...... and labour" pretty much all day. I would of thought second time around I would be a bit more relaxed about it.

Currently pacing around my living room because I am having contractions but if I stop walking they stop.

  11. mrschickpea

    clementine / 928 posts

@LCTBQE: great thanks! I'll waddle my way over there tomorrow since DH is out of town until Wednesday. I like my alone shopping time lol.

Got super hot and nauseous this morning at church. My heart rate went sky high and noticed my fingers swelling up...so that was weird. I had some menstrual like cramping on and off all the way there so maybe practice contractions?? FTM and naive here lol! Feeling better this afternoon.

I used our neighbors pool yesterday to try and turn the baby and I think it did something! There's something firm still up by my ribcage but it doesn't feel small like the head, more like a longer part of the baby if that makes sense? We have tried doing moxibustion too the past few days. Baby is pretty content spinning around all different directions still I guess I have a scan in the morning to check position again before scheduling an ECV so I'm really hoping he/she has flipped over!

  12. OldpuebloJenn

    kiwi / 595 posts

@mrschickpea: for flipped babies! Mines all over the place too- I'm thinking most days I have a head and a bum up, as long as baby doesn't drop into my pelvis I'm trying to stay calm about breech!

I felt pretty yucky yesterday! Got really light-headed and sweaty. Ended up drinking Gatorade and resting and then felt better. I think I haven't been eating enough -- especially protein -- because even eating something tiny affects me negatively all day since baby is squishing my stomach so much. Sigh.

  15. AprilFool

    nectarine / 2591 posts

@pregnantbee: they don't seem to be going anywhere and I am getting tired of walking around haha

  16. LCTBQE

    nectarine / 2461 posts

hoping all these breech babes get the memo and turn down! I think I feel feet on my left side but looking forward to my 36-week scan to see what's going on in there, because I'm really not sure.

@pregnantbee: oy vey, that does not sound fun. is it easier if you slowly have a smoothie with lots of yogurt or something? I feel like my stomach is behind my breasts at this point--hear you about eating discomfort you're getting SO close though.

    @AprilFool: wow!! keep us posted!

@mrschickpea: I'm having a few menstrual-like cramps, too! it's weird, they don't feel like braxton hicks, which I was having a lot of back in May-June but not lately, and they don't feel like the stretchy cramps I was having daily in the first tri--they truly feel like period cramps. it's wigging me out, glad to hear it's not uncommon.

  17. ShootingStar

    coconut / 8472 posts

Oh man, I've been having a bunch of menstrual type cramps too. I haven't been sure if they're stomach cramps, braxton hicks, or what. Baby's been killing my cervix today too.

@LCTBQE: I had a bath and they stalled. Nothing exciting happening over here

@ShootingStar: ugh sorry, but makes me feel less frightened to hear you've getting it too. and yep to the cervix beatings people keep telling me I'm in the home stretch, but sounds like @AprilFool: is REALLY in the home stretch (even if it's not go-time quite yet!) hang in there

@MRSWHIT1: Congratulations on your adorable little peanut!

@mossyslane: Thanks for sharing that. I'm pretty scared of caring for a newborn and its nice to hear those positive parts! Congrats on your baby girl

@coopsmama: This! Almost 39 weeks and still feeling good... So I can assume that labor is 1-2 months away right?

Went for a long walk with DH yesterday, (about 7km). Felt great at the time...dead legs a few hours later. Also my mum was kind enough to say last night "oh wow you've really blown out!" Thanks mum.
OB appt this arvo...but zero signs of baby so far! She's way too comfy to move. Any mums have no signs at all and then boom, real labor?

@Umberto: I know several friends who have had no signs and no progress and then boom labor was here. I've been induced twice so I get all the pain and no gain.

@coopsmama: Im selfishly enjoying the fact that we still have a large group of pregnant moms to commiserate with! I get irrationally jealous of moms that have their babies already!

  29. ShootingStar

    coconut / 8472 posts

@coopsmama: Can it please be me??

@T.H.O.U.: The day I was induced with DS was REALLY long. I'd been up since 2am having contractions and was just exhausted. I'm not sure if other hospital monitors are like this, but occasionally mine shows everyone who's in labor or being monitored. And around 6pm I could tell by the monitor that clearly someone had their baby, and I was so incredibly jealous. I was wailing to DH, "Why can't that be me??" lol.

  30. coopsmama

    cantaloupe / 6059 posts

@T.H.O.U.: Ha! It doesn't bother me. I figure it's something to make the days pass until it's my turn to see people check in and talk about their sweet babies. I don't get jealous until after my due date has passed.

    @ShootingStar: soon enough!

@MRSWHIT1: Congratulations! Your baby girl is absolutely adorable! And for how teeny tiny she is, she looks like a good healthy girl!!!

@mossyslane: Congratulations! And thank you for sharing all of those wonderful tips!!

  32. agold

    grapefruit / 4045 posts

Gosh... I feel the complete opposite from most of you. I hope my baby girl stays in for quite a while longer! Granted.. I'm on the later end of August for my due date. 5 weeks just seems so close though! I really wouldn't mind if she's late.. although I could be changing my tune if I start to feel miserable. But I feel pretty okay so far still.

Anyone else not quite ready yet for baby to make his/her debut?

  33. OldpuebloJenn

    kiwi / 595 posts

@agold: not ready at all. I'd love to go till 40 weeks, or at least 39w2d- my mom comes back at 39w1d, and DD starts back at preschool at 39w. I'd love to have those two events under my belt, then baby can show up. We still have some stuff to do around the nursery *and* thanks to brexit and low interest rates we decided this would be a great time to refinance our mortgage, which we did get locked into a great rate, but now we have an appraisal coming up.
Also, and probably most importantly, I'm just not feeling ready to tackle birth again. I need to get my head in the game!

ETA: but we did settle on our two names, one for boy and one for girl, so at least I can stop stressing over that!

  34. T.H.O.U.

    wonderful clementine / 24134 posts

@agold: I felt pretty good up until the last few weeks. Week by week its just getting progressively worse. I would love a miracle healthy 37/38 week delivery. Then at 39 weeks we are busy and by 40w I'm asking for an induction!

  35. T.H.O.U.

    wonderful clementine / 24134 posts

@OldpuebloJenn: Names are so hard especially being team green! Thats great you have them picked!

  36. ShootingStar

    coconut / 8472 posts

@T.H.O.U.: @agold: Yeah, I was feeling ok until the last few days. Now it's like everything is painful. Sitting in my office chair, getting up, laying in bed, everything. My hips hurt, my pelvis hurts, and all of a sudden it feels like this baby weighs 20 pounds. I barely slept last night and then was up for the day at 5:30 - 2 hours early . Driving is getting uncomfortable physically, plus it's making me nauseous. And taking zofran stops me all up.

I could go on and on and on . I'm just miserable and ready to have this baby at 37w on the dot, which is unfortunately 2 weeks away.

  37. agold

    grapefruit / 4045 posts

@T.H.O.U.: Can you please tell me what is getting worse for you as far as how you are feeling? And I love that you have specific weeks all planned out for your most desire birth week!

@OldpuebloJenn: I love that you also have a desire specific time frame for the birth of your baby. I just need to get my work load finished up and I need to get a new car (lease is up almost the same day as my due date). That's great you've decided on names. We have it narrowed down to a list of six names and we will wait to see the baby before we pick one for her. Good luck with your refinancing! I know someone else who is doing the exact same thing because of brexit.

@ShootingStar: Wow! That is all of a lot painful stuff you are dealing with. I am just waiting for that kind of stuff to hit me. I'm feeling particularly tired, again. But I wonder if that's just because I"m at work. Sometimes I feel a tiny pain getting in or out of bed. And my feet will swell if I spend more than an hour in the car at time. All of what you are having does sound pretty bad! I hope your baby comes at your desired time so that you can have some relief!

  38. T.H.O.U.

    wonderful clementine / 24134 posts

    @agold:

Week 34 - I was feeling big and hot. Getting very uncomfortable sitting or standing in one spot for any length of time. My hip has been bothering me as my ligaments stretch out and I started to "waddle". It felt like at any given moment my hip was going to pop out of joint.
Week 35 - Starting to really feel stretched out (belly skin). I think this was when I started having some longer abdominal pains which was the start of what I now believe is muscle tearing. At the time I thought it was almost like RLP that wouldn't go away. OB said thats unlikely and its muscular.
Week 36 - Muscle pains and hip pains are much worse. Even hurts to lay down. Ive been brought to tears several times now when baby/BH causes the muscle pain to stretch further. I'm still driving (and taking kids in and out of the car) and still sitting in my chair at work but I dont foresee this lasting much longer.
