@mrskc: I'm glad your appointment went so well! I still need to pre-register. For our daughter the online pre-registration didn't work and it was such a pain to deal with while being in active labor! This time around I am calling to get it done....thanks for the reminder! I am in AZ and it's been 110 degrees all week. It's not pleasant!

Just drank the orange drink for the 1 hr glucose test. Wish us luck! (I didn't think the drink was too bad...)

June is a busy month for Dh and I.
28 weeks today and 28 week u/s tomorrow! And then a 29 week Dr appt next week. Baby care class tonight, our baby shower next weekend, and several more baby classes throughout the month!
    It's getting serious!!

@mrs. 64: I'm SO glad you popped in for a quick update! I think about you both all the time - hoping that things are progressing well!

Had my GD test yesterday, hoping for NO phone call from the Dr!

I had to see the NP yesterday instead of my regular Dr, it was crazy how fast I was in and out. I didn't even get to finish one game on my phone! I kind of want to request her for every visit... haha

Sister is either getting huge or moving up into my rib cage because she is TIGHT and uncomfortable. She's squishing my ab muscles or something. I just want to pick her up and move her. Ugh.

How's everyone sleeping? I just got back from an exhausting trip, so the last few nights I have been OUT, but otherwise I'm a tossing/turning mess I hate hate hate sleeping on my side, so I usually end up creeping to my stomach, but then wake up and freak out that I'm squishing the baby. I've never slept worse than while I'm pregnant...

@mrskc: Well, I like to say it's CRAZY HOT, but it's really just mid-80s and humid... haha. I can't wear many clothes outside though, it's ridiculous how extra hot I've been lately. I can't even judge correctly which pajamas L needs to wear to bed because I can't sleep with *anything* on. I predict lots of pool time in the next month or two!

I suppose I should probably register at the hospital pretty soon... it's the exact type of thing I love procrastinating. Even though I live and work like 3 miles from the hospital.

    I have a doctor's appointment on the 17th! I'll be 30 weeks.

I did my 2 hour GD test today... here's hoping the results are good. I'm pretty worried though since I know I did badly on this same test while I was being diagnosed for PCOS.

I also got my Rhogam shot... boy, it was way more painful than I expected to get a needle in the butt lol!

@swurlygurl: omg i know how you feel! sometimes i actually feel like my stomach will burst! I've been sleeping pretty crappy bc I keep waking up to switch positions and then when I'm up, I gotta go to the bathroom. then when i go to the bathroom my dogs get all riled up so i gotta get them settled in bed again and this is 2-3 times a night. wah!

Other than that, i think i'm doing ok. I have a long commute (jersey shore to financial district manhattan, about 70 miles away and a 1hr45min bus ride each way) and it is getting tiresome. Work itself is totally fine, i'm at a desk all day and it's not tiring at all, but the commute is getting rough! I wonder how long i'll be able to stand it. I'm due 8/21, and i'm going to try my very hardest to make it to 8/15, otherwise i'm out 8/1. What about you guys? Do you know when you guys are going out on maternity yet?

  16. swurlygurl

    honeydew / 7091 posts

@chibee: Oh yeah, I forgot about the multiple bathroom trips. It's to the point now where when I feel myself wakeup at night, I just get up to go. Otherwise I try to fall asleep knowing my bladder is full, and then 15 minutes later I give in and go. And then I end up waking up DH so he has to go. And then we have to have a short conversation, and then I'm awake for another 30 minutes. Freaking ridiculous.

Unless my body has other plans, I'm working up until delivery. I only have unpaid leave, and I have a comfy desk job with a 5 minute commute. So I wouldn't necessarily be any better off at home (except I wouldn't have to get dressed...)

@chibee: I am trying to work right until I have the baby. I have paid maternity leave but only for 6 weeks and I want to spend as much time as possible with the baby actually here. I will probably take an additional 3 weeks vacation time and I need to make up my mind about if I will take any unpaid time. It is so hard to decide!

@swurlygurl: @pui: I hope you both passed your GD tests! I have mine on Tuesday and I really hope I pass. I have been loving some ice cream lately

@chibee: O, the multiple bathroom trips. I sleep so well until the first one (normally about 5 hours) and then it seems I never get into a good sleep again. It makes for looong work days.

@Mrs. M: I've still got morning sickness too! Have you tried Diclegis? I could not have survived this pregnancy without it. I am still on it (at 29w 6 d), and last week when we came back from our Babymoon in Hawaii I accidentally left it behind and therefore missed 2 days without it before I could get a new Rx and I spent that time vomiting! Seriously! Nausea to the point of multiple-times-a-day vomiting still at 28.5 weeks (at that point). My doctor said I'm likely just one of those unlucky women who have morning sickness until delivery. But I thank my lucky stars that Diclegis works for me. I could not hold down a job otherwise!

@mrs. 64: you and baby C are in my thoughts! Stay strong and know we're pulling for you!

As for me, I failed my 1-hr glucose test. which is absurd because I ALREADY follow the freaking GD diet naturally - all I eat is salads and a few fruits a day, sometimes some plain yoghurt. I am skinny too (other than my bump!). I just started a new very high-pressure job (my dream job, which happened to come along when I'm 7 mos pregnant!) and I simply don't have time to do the 3-hr glucose test during lab hours (which are work hours for me). I'm just not going to do it and simply keep eating healthily iust like I have been. I find it so frustrating that I failed that stupid test as well as I eat and as thin as I am....my doc says that has nothing to do with it and some folks just react to pregnancy poorly. But either way I'll just follow the GD diet. All I crave is salads and the occasional nectarine anyway.

I picked up a bad cold a week ago (all the stress from taking this new job I think) and it went straight to bronchitis. But I'm starting to turn the corner now thanks to lots of steam breathing, hot lemon/honey waters, and a humidifier going in our bedroom. Will be awesome when it's gone!

Other than the coughing from being sick my sleep is still really good (knocking wood!). My belly is still pretty small for almost 30 weeks (being 6 feet tall helps!) so I guess it's just not as uncomfortable as for many folks at this point.

As for maternity leave, due to taking a new job I will now be working right up until I deliver, and then will take only 6 weeks of "real" maternity leave (partially paid) and then will work part-time for the following 6 weeks. So we've got to find childcare much sooner than I had been planning originally (I would have gotten 18 weeks of mat leave at the job I just left!). Ah well, will cross that bridge when we get to it.

    Hope everyone is doing well!

@stratosphere: Sorry to hear you're still feeling sick! Glad the medication works for you. I think you're making the right decision on GD if you follow the diet anyway. I had a friend who was diagnosed with it, yet she barely gained any weight and still had a 6# baby. Sometimes tests are just wrong

So in my weekly Babycenter email, it said baby is now about 15.7 inches long. Uhh, wow! How did that happen so quickly??

I passed my GD test last week, glad thats over and done with. Hope everybody else's goes well!

My doctor decided to move my due date up by a week so I'm now Aug 14 instead of 21. She said baby was measuring about 5 days big at my ultrasound and she didn't do anything about it then but my belly is also measuring a week ahead for the last few appts so between the 2 she decided to change it. I almost wish she would have left it alone since it would give me more time before being pressured into induction if I go over.

I toy with the idea of leaving work early daily. Here you're allowed (federally provided) to take up to 15 weeks sick/stress leave before starting maternity leave and most days I just want to say eff it and go. I really don't like my job in the first place anyway.....it's just the month waiting time for the application to be approved that holds me back. That and I'm afraid of just lazing around the house for a month; I think I'd go stir crazy. I already know 80% of my leave will be taken up by winter and ill be housebound for the most part through it.....I'd rather save the crazy for then, thanks.

Baby is CRAZY active. So much more than LO#1 (who I actually went to the hospital twice because I was worried about no movement). Last night SO and I were lying belly to belly and he kicked so hard he actually kicked SO's belly! So crazy. Other pregnancy symptoms are that my milks in already .... You can guess how much fun that was to discover leg cramps were bad for awhile; I still get up 2-3 times a night and I'm still tired. still not wearing maternity. OH and the gloucose test - Jesus. I don't do the sugar drink, I got my A1c (the one they use to test for diabetes) test done weeks and weeks ago & it came back normal. And I've told them from appointment #1 that I don't do it. EXCEPT THEY STILL ASK ABOUT IT AT EVERY APPOINTMENT. FFS can't you just read your goddamn chart?! so fu*king aggrevating to have to explain myself over & over again. Just aaaaaaaargh.

Nursery furniture arrived last week - crib and mattress and a new glider, very very generously provided by SO's parents. Right now the plan is two boys are going to be sharing a room after the first few months. I co-bedded with LO#1 until he was 11 months and plan to either cobed again or have him in a bassinet next to me. It's always kind of bugged me that I never put together a nicely decorated nursery for LO#1, so I think I'm just going to bite the the bullet and just paint & put up some prints and bunting and a circle mobile in the centre of the room since the room doesn't have an overhead light. I'm thinking a colour scheme of orange, blue, gray & white (the furniture).....we'll see though.

@stratosphere: oh no, hope you're feeling better soon!

I'm at a temp job right now and the project deadline is basically my due date. LOL So I'll be working right up until I deliver. Then I will be out of a job while on "maternity leave". Hopefully they opt to bring me back otherwise it's back to job hunt after 4 weeks. I plan to take 6-8 weeks but it really depends on the job situation.

So turns out I only have 2 vessels (normally you have 3) in my umbilical cord. o_O

Uh......my last scan was back in MARCH and I've had AT LEAST 3-4 doctors appointments since then??!!! Wtf people?? Not sure why it wasn't mentioned but I'm really annoyed by it. (For the record, 75% of the time it's fine. The other 25%? It can cause birth defects related to skeletal, heart, renal and intestinal. Seems like something you would want to at least MENTION, yes?? FFS).

Good news is that I had another ultrasound on Friday & everything looks okay - I think. She did spend a lot of time photographing the heart, but she pointed out all the parts so I think it was ok (also, this is kind of weird, but I think my favourite part of baby is seeing the heart. It's just so cool to see it beating away in there and you never get to see that part of them again, you know?) heartbeat was a normal 130.

I have another appointment next Friday to go over the results. Baby's estimated weight is 4lbs which is funny because I've only gained a total of 3. Still lying sideways but still has plenty of time to flip.

Oh! I'm also officially off work on sick/stress leave until baby comes & then will automatically switch to maternity leave. Yay! Now to keep active (getting harder because if I stand or walk for any length of time I get crampy and pressure in my pelvic region. It's actually kind of painful) and not waste it lying around the house or sleeping all day.

    How's everyone else doing ?

@sera_87: Oh my goodness, I can't believe they haven't mentioned that! I've never even heard of it - I'm glad things are measuring right as they should be. At least you haven't had to stress about it at all?

Definitely overdid it this weekend... the rest of this summer is going to be super disappointing if I have to keep limiting myself!! All my pelvic bones feel soooo bruised. It's pretty miserable. I can't tell if this means I need MORE exercise and should try to walk everyday, or if it means I need to stay off my feet as much as possible.

Totally waddling at this point, too. Sister is getting so big, and she's sitting low in my crotch, so it's really hard to get the momentum to propel myself forward while walking, haha! On Friday I was not ready at ALL for her to come early (probably would have been a little upset if she did), but today I am all about it. How do I have 9 weeks of this left??!! It's amazing how much an exhausting weekend can change you!

@sera_87: My best friend had this with her baby. No complications due to the 2 vessels but for her it turned out that the cord was also short (unrelated to the vessel problem) and baby couldn't move down/out so she ended up with a c section.

Has anyone started to feel BH yet? Since this is my first time, I'm not completely sure thats what it is though. It mostly started yesterday. Basically I've been feeling period cramps at times, really firm belly, and/or random sharp pains. No real pattern, and not necessarily all at once. It makes me a little nervous that its happening so early (31w), but it's my impression that this is normal?
