@FaithFertility: Sorry you've had such a tough few days Your friend and @MamaG: are right though. The problems and worries keep coming, but the rewards really grow as the months pass. My 2.5 year old turned to me at the park today and said "it's so nice to sit with you here in the sunshine, mama. I love this!". It melts your heart and helps you to keep pushing through the hard days. As they get older, you can remember all of the hurdles that you've overcome and it helps you to put the current issues in perspective.
Hearing "this too shall pass" used to make me want to scream, but it's so true! I hope that tomorrow is a better day for you.
And re: the fever, I think that M has had a slight temp with teething before. She sometimes registers a low grade temp just because she's crying and worked up though. That can really bring your temp up a bit, so I try to take it when she's calm (if possible).

@MamaG: I love your DD talking about gravity. Such a smarty pants And just like you're saying - we had to put the swing into the attic because we knew he would take a great nap in it and it was SO tempting! (also, he was really pushing it in the size department). Glad things are going well with the crib!
And thanks for the reminder about Charlie. I've been so thrilled to see this on FB and IG!

@MrsF: Oh the swing. I'm so afraid to pack up the swing. It brought so many hours of quiet bliss.
My smarty pants told her Dad that peanut butter holds us on Earth. She has her moments. He of course now doesn't believe me that she actually talked about gravity without prompting. Oh kids!

@MrsF: So sweet!!!! Nice to have you second time Mama's here!!!
@MamaG: hahaha too funny! As a teacher I know those kiddos can change their answers in a second! I told DH today the swing is GONE!

@MamaG: I'm with you on the swing. M didn't really like it at all but it was a serious lifesaver with J. We even brought it to my parents' house when we stayed a few days for Christmas! Kept it swinging all night long because it was the only way we could get some sleep. No shame.
And the peanut butter. Awesome

We need to sleep train. The post bed 40 minute wakeup is ridiculous. Plus 2 more wakings. Naps are awful. He hates the crib and can't deal with having is hands free. Help.

@winniebee: I'm so sorry It seemed like things had gotten so much better for you guys! (it's all relative though, I know). Are you thinking of sleep training soon?
pomelo / 5298 posts
@winniebee: I feel your pain. It's why we are sleep and crib training this week. I hope you find something that works for you.

Success... Ethan in the crib drowsy but awake and right to sleep without crying (granted it was the 2nd try tonight, he nursed to sleep but woke when I set him down and cried for 15 min. I gave him 3 oz of formula and then tried again). High five for DH and I! Shouldn't get too excited since its just once but its a first.
@winniebee: Hope tonight goes better!

I'm soooooooo behind!!!
@BandDmommy: Bummer about the bottle fail! Hopefully she'll get the hang of it soon (or you don't mind being attached 24/7). Glad to hear transitioning to the crib is going well! Also, can't believe she's starting to crawl already!!
@FaithFertility: Sorry to hear she has a fever. Hopefully it's teeth and not an illness... although neither one is fun.
@MamaG: Yay for crib sleeping! And thank you for the update about Charlie! So happy he's leaving the hospital and doing well!!
@winniebee:
@josina: That IS a success! Yay!

We're joining the shitty sleep parade. Logan kept waking up all night last night and from 1:00 to 2:00, he was just wide awake! And then again from 3:15 to 4:00. I'm soooooo tired!! The daycare teachers said he really wasn't himself yesterday, fussy and cranky all day. I don't know what's going on. No fever though.
I think I'm going to join you all in moving him to his crib this weekend. I'm scared, but I think he'll be more comfortable than in the Pack 'n Play.

I jinxed myself with that post, awful night. Crib at 9:30, started crying at 12 (which is his normal time but hoped since he went down late he'd go longer), nursed, and then he was awake until 2:30! It took 1-1/2 hrs of crying/comforting before he took his paci-plushie and fell asleep. Back up at 5:30 to nurse and sleeping again.
I guess the win is that he did go to sleep on his own twice.
@Adira: Hopefully your crib transition goes well! Ethan sleeps so much better! (Usually).

@josina: Ugh, sounds like you had a rough night too! I'm sorry!

Gahhhh these babes, what are they doing???
We took 3 30 min naps yesterday so she was on bed by 7 slept till 12 then 3 and 6...
@winniebee: I am now under the 45 min nap is a good nap, that can't be right.....lol
I'm sorry he hates the crib, it isn't going to be fun with G either....These things are so hard!
@josina: ohhh I'm sorry! Yay for E putting himself to sleep, that is a big step!!
@Adira: Man I am..sorry! I might join you this weekend on crib!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@FaithFertility: Good luck to us! Hopefully they like the cribs and magically start sleeping better.
eggplant / 11861 posts
@Adira: She naps in it and goes down in it pretty good most of the day, some times she fights it!
I just feel she hears me and senses me at night, and when she wakes our bed is right there it is so easy for me to just lay her down and nurse her..granted her wakes are usually 4+ hrs apart.....not lately though

I'll do my update and then catch up on comments. But big hugs to everyone...
Crib update: went down at 8 pm. Fussed a little at 2:30 am, i popped her paci back in and she slept till 7. She woke up at 2:30 because B fell out of his bed and started screaming. Funny thing is this isn't his first time falling out of his toddler bed. I just go in and tell him it's okay and he falls asleep again.

@MamaG: that is hilarious!
@FaithFertility: sorry about your bottle struggles.. We are in the same camp.. Grandma bottle boot camp will occur when my parents come visit
@Adira: ugh, I'm so sorry.. I think sooo many developmental things are going on that it messes with their sleep
@josina: small victories.. It will get easier! Hugs
pomelo / 5660 posts
@winniebee: are you doing naps in cribs? D's naps sucked until we started doing them in crib.. Downside, stuck in the house a lot
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@FaithFertility: Yeah, I wonder if Logan hears me at night being right next to me and that's why he wakes up. I hope he'll sleep better being in a room all to himself!
@BandDmommy: Oh no! Poor B! Though that's great sleep on D's part. Totally agree about the developmental things. Although I kept waking up to him grunting and he was pulling the blanket over his head and then whipping his head back and forth like he was trying to get it off, even though he was still just holding it there! Babies are dumb.

@BandDmommy: Best of luck, she failed at daddy bottle boot camp, I am enlisting my sister!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@josina: so sorry you had a tough night
@Adira: no fun! I think they just have a lot to work out developmentally right now. Hopefully the p'n'p and crib are similar enough that it won't be too bad for you guys!
@BandDmommy: sounds pretty good! Too bad about b's wake up though. We still have M in a crib so that will be something new to deal with eventually.

Our nights are still pretty much the same. Started nursing at 7, wouldn't sleep, rocked/bounced for a while, let her be for a while, nursed again to sleep at 8:30... The up at 2am & 5am, didn't want to go back to sleep till 6, then only slept till 7 so she didn't even sleep for her usual 10 hrs total. My mom said she's been fussy with naps too. They gotta be teething something! She's chomping on Sophie furiously.
Maybe I should join the crib or nothing camp... I am totally weak sauce though.

@snowjewelz: it's amazing how much better I sleep without D in the room.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@BandDmommy: I can imagine! With her in the room I am pretty uncomfortable but learn to sleep like that eventually haha! But without her I'm usually waking up frequently to look at the monitor But I'm sure I'd learn to just pass out too eventually!

We had a good night. Daddy put k to bed. Right to sleep at about 8. She was crying at 4 and wanted to sleep on me. I was tired so I put her in our bed after about 20 minutes trying toget her back in the crib. I woke her at 6:40
eggplant / 11861 posts
@snowjewelz: I'm weak with you!!!! I talk a big game but one lip quiver and I melt!
But......I just stood my ground on 1st nap in crib she didn't want to go down, she was so tired up since 6 went to nap at 9 played in crib then cried I came in the minute I picked her up eyes closed laid back down instant cry we did this for 20 minutes! She FINALLY went down, the swing is still there and I didn't use it
eggplant / 11861 posts
@BandDmommy: See I think I would sleep better too, she bangs flips and squirms even my dogs have left the room on occasions.....lol
pear / 1961 posts
@banddmommy: definitely with you on being stuck in the house more. i try to make sure she gets at least one good nap in the crib each day. Tu/Th are easier (in a way) because K is home too, so we can just plan outing around the naps, or play outside while she is napping. M/W/F, I have to work around preschool drop-off and pick-up, and that usually interrupts something!
pear / 1961 posts
@winniebee: sorry mama! i'd probably just be ready to make the full switch (crib, no swaddle, etc) and figure if it's going to be bad, it might as well be BAD. and then get better of course! i'm not sure if E is sensitive or just super stubborn, but i think sleep training her would be a nightmare and a half. With K, she never cried more than 10-15 minutes on and off before falling asleep, and we couldn't check on her or she'd get riled up.
pear / 1961 posts
@adira: developmental things or teeth! i wish these babies came with instructions!!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@FaithFertility: GOOD JOB! That's kinda what I think I'm gonna do when we attempt to sleep train... I think it's called pick up/put down method. It's more tedious and takes longer but minimize the crying (more so than other methods).
@KayKay: Haha what we do doesn't really work that well, but it's not killing us, so we just stick with it lol
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@BandDmommy: He's still in the rock n play but yes when we are home he naps there - he won't nap anywhere else at home! His naps are pretty much always 40 mins and I have to work hard to get him down. He will sleep well in the car if it's moving but that's about it these days....little catnaps if we are out and about.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@KayKay: We tried unsaddled in the crib last night and he just ate his hands and yelled. My husband said we should wait a few more days since he might still not feel well.....I was thinking swaddled in crib to get used to it first....then ditch swaddle....but that's probably just prolonging the misery.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@winniebee: Kara's naps are EXACTLY 40 min too on the dot. She varies between 20 min to 50 min. On DH she can sleep easily 1-2 hrs On the weekends if I get her as soon as she rouses I can sometimes get her down again for the 2nd half of the nap. She is the same way in cars too; has to be moving to sleep, and it takes her 20 min to fall asleep so short car trips do nothing, it has to be a 40 min ride to make a difference lol
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
I've been bad about responding to people. It's been a heck of a week following vacation we all got sick. Dealing with a cranky needy toddler AND baby who isn't content to do anything for more than 5 mins and no one is napping or sleeping well. Last night Ty down at 8:15, R finally down at 8:30. R up at 9:15. T up at 11:30 (coughing and crying for us). R up at 2:30 (ate). T up at 3:30 (coughing and crying). T up at 4 crying again. R up at 6 for the day. T up at 6:15 for the day. Our house is a disaster and I feel like I will never ever feel human or live a normal or organized life again.
You all are awesome - keep plugging away!!

It was hot yesterday so I put her in the zipadee zip instead of merlin... She just kept looking at her hands like wait, where my hands at?! So I gave up and stuffed her back in the merlin.
