@winniebee: Hang in there, there has to be an end in sight.
My house is a disaster too, the idea of anyone showing up to visit keeps me awake at night but yet I'm too exhausted to actually do anything about it.
Hope everyone feels better in your family, SOON!

So we got a call from my BIL this morning that he was likely exposed to measles at work. He is unvaccinated (My DH's parents belonged to a pretty cult-like religion when they were young that didn't believe in any medical care. My DH has since been vaccinated but I guess my BIL, who doesn't have kids, never was)
Anyway, his work place has asked him to stay home for 2 weeks after exposure. He was with both of my kids on Sunday, several days after he was exposed M has had her first MMR so she is *probably* immune, but J obviously has not. I am so pro-vaccine and it just frustrates me that we have to worry about this. None of my DH's brothers are involved in the church as adults and it kind of pisses me off that my BIL didn't bother to get vaccinated when he has so many nieces and nephews.

@MrsF: scary! Hopefully BIL didn't get it and you have nothing to worry about? How long before you can know for sure?

@winniebee: oh man!! I hope it's just them adjusting to vacation being over! Hang in there!

@MrsF: oh no! I hope all of them are okay!! What do you need to look out for?
honeydew / 7283 posts
@josina: If BIL doesn't have symptoms by this Sunday my kids probably weren't exposed.
@snowjewelz: high fever and full body rash.
It's just scary because it's SO contagious. It can stay infectious in the air for up to 2 hours and 90% of non- vaccinated people who are truly exposed will contract it. And obviously very dangerous for young children.

@MrsF: Sooo scary we just had a few confirmed cases in my county, so family is super nerve shacking

@MrsF: Sorry, hopefully this will motivate BIL to get vaccinated now. Hope you escape the scare unscathed.

@MrsF: ahhh that is sooooo scary! I'm so sorry - how stressful. Hopefully he doesn't have it, and everyone is fine. I would be flipping out!

I feel so sad for mrs scallop and Charlie. They are already back in the hospital after 1 day. Thinking of them.

@winniebee: I know - my heart dropped seeing that. Thinking of and praying for charlie!!

@winniebee: @theotherstark: I felt the same way. My heart dropped to my stomach when I saw her update I just can't imagine going through any of what they've been up against...

I know me too I really am praying hard that the next move will be smooth! I tear up every time I visit his page, just wanting so bad for him to get better.

@MrsF: Ahhh!!! So scary!!!! I'm so sorry you even have to worry about this! How upsetting!
@winniebee: Oh man, I hadn't heard about Charlie. That sucks. Thanks for the update.

I feel like we might be dealing with the 4 month sleep regression (a month late). Another rough night last night of up every couple hours. YAWN!

We had another good night of sleep. Daddy is officially in charge of bedtime. He got her to sleep with ease again. But she was up at 3:30 (again) and pissed this time. We ended up feeding her and she went back to sleep.
We really need to start solids. She's staring us down at dinner and really seems to be ready. Since I can't find the harness for our current seat, I'm ordering a new one TODAY from amazon, and we will get food this weekend. Let the solids fun begin

Last night was our worst night of sleep in a LONG time. I feel kind of guilty complaining though, since normally her sleep is so good, but still... She was up at 10, and I held her, gave her a pacifier and she went back to sleep. Then up at 3, but she didn't really get upset and went back to sleep on her own. Then up at 4:30 when I feed her, then I woke her up for the day at 6:30. Plus she developed her first bad diaper rash recently, so I've decided to attribute it all to teething... But we'll see how things develop.

@winniebee: It breaks my heart everytime I see Charlie's page/pictures/updates... I hope and pray that things go UP from here!! (and stay that way!)
@MamaG: Same here... Ethan actually seemed to WANT to go to bed last night. I nursed around 8:30 and he was still awake after so hung out a bit watching tv and he got fussy so I laid him in his crib abound 8:50 and right to bed, no crying! Yay! He was back up at 12 though, really needs that first stretch to be longer; nursed, cried at 3:30 again for a bit but back to sleep, and then at 5:30 he was wide awake just hangin out in his crib.
...Ethan was hanging out in the kitchen with me this week; I'd given him a baby spoon to play with and when I put it towards his mouth he was mouth-open wanting food so I gave him a little oatmeal with BM; whenever I quit to go back to cooking he'd cry for more. He loved it. I'm not feeding him regularly but not against him trying it out now either.
To all of you wanting to go to the crib I say go for it; Ethan's sleep has been SOO much better since!
Just started reading 'the Happiest Baby Guide to Great Sleep'; we'll see what I learn.

@Adira: Ughhh these babes and their sleep lately
@Miss Ariel: it is hard when you are used to decent sleep.....
Cute Story! On our walk this morning I had the umbrella cover thing down to block the sun and had the mesh part open so I could look down and see her in the stroller (I sit her in the stroller now not in the carseat) I was talking to her as we walked and she finally tilted her head back to say ...Mom where is your voice coming from... she spotted me through the mesh and smiled and let out a big SQUEAL! As if to say ohhh there you are, needless to say now she thinks looking up at you is hilarious

@josina: Your making the crib transfer sound sooo appealing, I'll see what DH thinks this weekend!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: Us too, she wakes up at pretty much the exact same times now - 11, 2 and 5.
@josina: That's great! I think I will try putting her in the crib at least for the first stretch. Esp tonight b/c I need to change our sheets lol
@FaithFertility: Aww! So cute! I'm gonna try putting her in the stroller too... We're supposed to have a gorgeous weekend!

does anyone have an ideas of what else we can do for mrs scallop? I know she says they don't need anything, but I want to do something!
nectarine / 2053 posts
also, is it considered nursing to sleep when Micah wakes up MOTN and latches on and sucks for a few seconds then falls back asleep? Not even enough time for my letdown to happen.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@whenoceansrise: I was thinking of sending her something for mother's day, but then we don't know whether (or at least hope not) Charlie is still at NICU or will back at the transitional place...
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@whenoceansrise: Haha I think then you're the pacifier mama! Some nights I don't even know whether she ate b/c I literally pass out the second I shove the boob in lol!
nectarine / 2053 posts
@snowjewelz: He is so stubborn when it comes to the paci so yeah he does use me a lot but when we start sleep training, I don't want to have to get up many times MOTN just to let him use me as a paci and then risk waking him back up while laying him back down in the crib.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@snowjewelz: Brutal! I miss my uninterrupted sleep!
@whenoceansrise: I don't consider it nursing to sleep when it's a MOTN wake-up.
nectarine / 2053 posts
@snowjewelz: Yeah, I thought about the mothers day thing too for her. I talk about Charlie all the time and I've shown DH pictures and we've both been praying for him. The other day I shared the news with him that Charlie was getting to leave the hospital and he said "Yeah, I know. I saw that on facebook" So he tracked down the page for Charlie on facebook and he's following along. And the other day he texted me and was like "I really want to do something for Charlie's family" so we've been trying to come up with some ideas!
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@whenoceansrise: Ethan didn't take to a paci either, (likes it but can't keep it in). I've had success with the paci-plushie for his 3:30 wake-up. And if he can't keep the paci part in he just sucks on the legs so win-win.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: I've only gotten like 3-5 STTN from her. But I was enjoying a few weeks of her only waking up at 2 and 5.. I don't know where the 11 one came from! But I'll take these vs those nights when she wakes up and doesn't wanna go back down!
@whenoceansrise: I'm just not sure where we'd send stuff, if she's comfortable giving out any other address besides the NICU one
pomelo / 5298 posts
@whenoceansrise: I was thinking about some sleepers/rompers for him as it looks like from pictures that he needs things that close in the front.
I didn't even think about Mother's Day - darn that's really sneaking up quickly.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@whenoceansrise: I think if you sleep train you'd prob not want to give him anything for wake ups so he doesn't rely on them? I think I'll keep talking about sleep training and she'll be like 4 years old lol.

Ryan had his follow up GI appt today. The little piggy is 13.1 lbs now. He still spits up like crazy but doesn't seem bothered by it anymore (age? Zantac?). The GI doc wants us to stay on Zantac awhile longer (he will outgrow his current dosing soon and we will then know if it's still helping) and start solids now. I had wanted to wait for 6 mos and do more blw this time but apparently cereal and purées greatly help reduce spit up. The doc said since he has good head control (can tripod sit some) and has shown an interest (tries to grab food, opens mouth when I'm eating, let him suck an apple slice and he cried when we took it away!) to go for it. He will be 5 mos next week. As for dairy, the GI doc isn't jazzed about green poop or mucous poop - he thinks I should try some overt dairy and see what happens. Blood in stool is tell tale sign of dairy intolerance. I'll try probably around 6 months. Overall a really good visit.

@josina: So cute about solids Glad crib is going well.
@Adira: @Miss Ariel: sorry you're joining us! Ryan has never STTN. Not once
@MamaG: Glad you're having better time with the sleep!
