@MrsF: Our babysitter this weekend was nervous as well before hand, she'd never watched a baby before, but she did fine (helps that sis was there). She said afterword she loved it and will gladly babysit anytime. Hopefully today goes well for her, the kiddos, and you guys!
@FaithFertility: Awww to the kids crying when seeing you!

@FaithFertility: I feel this way too! We don't cosleep, but I love having her in bed with us for the last hour or so before getting up.
And I'm fine with a new thread as well, especially as this one starts creeping to 200 pages!

@Adira: Logan is too cute.
@snowjewelz: Please add me to the chain as well (nikluvs20atyahoodotcom (replace the spelled out at & dot though ))
M is sleeping in his PnP (we don't have a crib) but wakes up multiple times a night because he flips over on his belly & then can't flip back. Also a new thread sounds good to me too.

@josina: thanks for the well-wishes!
Seems like things went well with our new sitter today! She's not overly warm and fuzzy with the kids while I'm around but she said J wasn't fussy (amazing) and everyone seemed to have had a good day. The SHOCKING part was as she was leaving she says "oh yeah, and Molly peed and pooped on the potty". What?!?! We've been casually having her sit on the potty and she's done a tiny drop of pee two times. I almost fell over.
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@MrsF: Wow, that's awesome! Go Molly. She might just need to get comfortable with you and the kids to show her 'warm and fuzzy' side when you are there?
So E only had one bottle again today, but he is happy as can be. She said he wasn't acting any different at daycare other than not eating so I dk. He nursed fine tonight. I'm going to send some cereal tomorrow so if he doesn't take the bottle she can try that. Silly baby.
nectarine / 2210 posts
@josina: k refused bottles about two weeks ago. Granted she'd eventually take one when she got hungry, but she did skip two or so. It really only happened for two days though, so who knows what was going on.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@AngelicOne: that's a rough phase! My first had a really rough few nights when he started rolling back to belly!
@MrsF: yay for using the potty!!
@josina: that's really strange! Is he nursing more overnight to make up for it?
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
You guys. Ryan went to bed at 730 not a peep until 3. That's his best stretch in over a month. Up for day at 5 with huge poop though. Not bad for night 3 in crib! I am soooo relieved the transition is over with.
Also I switched to size 3 diapers and put him in a true night diaper at night instead of baby dry. I'm sure he's still within the limits of wearing size 2s but every poop is a catastrophe since starting solids and he had a pee leak overnight the other night.

@MrsF: Dude!! If the sitter can get M to go on the potty, she's a keeper!!! Glad everything went well!
@josina: Weird he's not really eating! Maybe he's getting plenty when he's with you and doesn't need as much during the day? At least he's happy!
@winniebee: 7:30 to 3:00 is awesome!!! YAY!!! Hopefully this is the beginning of a new era for you guys! Also, can't believe you're moving up to size 3s. How big is R? I'm thinking we probably need to move up Logan as well...
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@Adira: he's not very big!! Probably 14 lbs and 25 inches? He has a long torso though so maybe that's why we have leak issues?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@winniebee: We don't seem to have leak issues, though he's been having blowouts a bunch lately, so maybe it is time for us to move up too.
honeydew / 7283 posts
@josina: that's great that he's happy! Is he eating more at night to make up for it?
@winniebee: that's great! So nice to have that stressful transition behind you we're up to size 3 diapers but not sleep diapers yet.
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@winniebee: Awesome sleep stretch! Jealous.
I think Ethan is on some sort of bottle strike, I didn't even think of it till this morning but I tried giving him a bottle Saturday (sitting at a friend's garage sale all day) and he wouldn't take it either, then fussed at the bottle that night (thought it was just cuz of a new sitter), and then daycare Monday and Tuesday. He nurses fine...
I've been nursing him as soon as I get home at night vs. waiting an hour or two, and he's been nursing once more in the morning so he's getting a bit more at home, but not a lot. I'm not overly worried since he is a little chunker, (and not fussy or acting like he's starving) but I sent cereal today so if he won't take the bottle he can get some milk that way. Wonder how long this will last...

@winniebee: The medicine we are using for K is nizatidine, which seems similar to Zantac, but the doctor said it doesn't have the strong mint taste. Unfortunately, it still tastes like crap. We got her to take it last night but she wouldn't take it this morning. Does R have any issues actually taking the medicine?
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@josina: If it helps, per my wonder week app they're all going through leap 5 and one of the signs is not eating well. Kara has been eating less than usual from the bottle too

@Adira: @winniebee: I totally just Amazon Primed a box of size 3's! We have been having some serious issues with size 2 leakage!
Guys, I totally forget the rules of introducing solids. I def need to do some research today!
nectarine / 2631 posts
@Adira: Everything!! Like how to start, what to feed, when.... I totally forget what I did with B. It wasn't that long ago... my brain is total mush.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@cheert16: hahaha, I hear you. The only thing I really remember is you're supposed to wait 3 days between introducing new foods, or something like that. I'm going to just start with rice cereal though and then figure it out!

@winnibee: that's amazing! we are in size 3 diapers for overnight because 2s were leaking if she ate 2x MOTN. we are still doing 2s during the day because i messed up and didn't change my subscribe & save delivery in time -- so we have like 120 more size 2s to use up luckily she's still a pretty infrequent pooper so less concern about messy leaks, or at least who knows if the size 3s would make a difference when she does go!
i think i'm ready to try a little bit of night training for this child. not ready for night-weaning (i'll let her do that on her own), but probably be a little bit more strict on when i'll go to her/feed her. i also have been bad about popping her off during MOTN feeds if she starts to fall back asleep -- i think i need to keep her going until she not only stops sucking but also turns her head? last night she woke at 11p for a small feed, and again at 1a and was PISSED when DH showed up instead of me. finally i went down at 2a and she chugged a ton of milk, so apparently didn't eat enough at 11? then she woke up at 5a, half fussing and half talking. i let her sort it out herself, and she slept til 7a. baby steps?

@cheert16: I'm not sure the rules are so rigid. With LO1, we elected to skip rice cereal completely (she never had it). And we fed her sweet potato puree first. We did the same food for 3 days for the first 3 foods or so before I grew tired of the process. We added in oatmeal later when she was able to handle thicker foods and we would add it to the purees to bulk them up.
We are taking the same approach with LO2, except even more "lazy". I've not done anything three days in a row. And I skipped the Gerber level 1 foods and gone straight to level 2 (2.5 oz per container). We started with pears because of some constipation issues. We've had pears, apples, bananas, green beans, sweet potato and squash successfully. Peas were a failure.
We started at 5.5 months (now 6 months) and she's getting better about handling the spoon.

@adira: @cheert16: the only rule is there are no rules kidding, of course. we don't have many food allergies in our families, so i'm pretty lax on what i give and how long i wait to try something new. also there's been a ton of research lately showing that a lot of the old rules were pretty ineffective (unless you have specific allergies that run in your family(s), of course).

All this talk of overnight diapers, we never did them with C. She was always fine in swaddlers/cruisers. We are having issues with nighttime leaks though :(. I think C dropped MOTN feeds earlier than this kiddo, maybe. I might need to look into the diapers.
nectarine / 2053 posts
I don't know if we've talked about this, but is anyone planning on doing BLW?
pomegranate / 3973 posts
What are the no-go foods for babies? I'm always stressing about what we shouldn't give him... I've read strawberries, syrup, honey... eggs can be highly allergic? Broccoli can cause constipation? I'm not sure if I'm being too strict on this stuff and am just paranoid.
We've done oatmeal cereal, peas, banana, sweet potato, and now applesauce (he doesn't like it, unsweetened is apparently too sour).
