I think I need to get a Zoli. We never introduced a sippee at home for C until we got rid of the bottle. Our daycare uses cups like the take and toss sippees so that's what we used for C to have some consistency.
We always had success with Dr Smiths cream for C, so we are already stocked up on it for K. I slathered her up good this morning. But then in my Monday rush forgot to tell her teacher. Ugh. I hate Monday!

@whenoceansrise: Rough night Saturday! Was last night better I hope?
@MamaG: E's had a couple dirty diapers in the morning where I wonder how long he's been in them, no fun.
@Adira: Hopefully these babies are over their colds soon! E still has his and now me too. Hopefully Saturday goes well with the yogurt! Since we already got ice cream out of the way one less thing to worry about.
We had my grandpa's 80th birthday yesterday, E got passed around all day with total strangers and loved it, not so good for naptime but its nice to not have any stranger anxiety. Of course for picture time with g-gpa his hand went straight for the corner of the cake! lol.

@FaithFertility: It will be okay I promise!
@whenoceansrise: so many things still going on with them... Could be teething! Hope he slept better last night!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@MamaG: I know! They are growing up so fast! I think if it's not everyday, maybe just slap on extra cream before bed so her bum is better protected at night?

@winniebee: That's so cool! I bought a bunch if sippy cups, maybe I should return some and get a straw cup instead!
nectarine / 2053 posts
well last night wasn't awful. he did the 30 minute waking thing again up until around 11:30 then after that only woke up twice.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@snowjewelz: it took our older until after age 1 to master soppy cup but straw cups he could do by 8/9 mos. I think it's common?
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@winniebee: Oh I didn't realize that! B/c it seems like the way the market these things is that sippy comes before straw!

I feel so bad, I'm awful at updating but I definitely read along. :). I can't believe our babies are already 6 months old or older! :).

@MamaG: MOTN poops are the worst. I'm always worried that's what's going on (but not usually worried enough to go in there!). I agree with @snowjewelz: When J was pooping overnight a lot I would put some Butt Paste on before bed.
@Adira: @winniebee: Impressive! I don't think J's really figured out how to get water from the Zoli yet. I know it took M a really long time.
@Adira: Sounds like a good appointment! I hope the yogurt goes well. I can see how you would be nervous.

@whenoceansrise: Glad things were a little better - you deserve some more sleep though!

So who is letting the baby cry overnight to try to eliminate night feeds or night wakings? Our pediatrician ok'd it. Ryan was doing great for a week just waking once but the past few nights have been at least 2x and early day wakings. I keep saying I will let him cry but then 1 am rolls around and i think he might be hungry so I feed him. But then he wakes again 3 hours later...I don't mind one waking after 3 am because I know that he can do that.
pomelo / 5298 posts
@winniebee: Me! Unfortunately she has two modes at night. Wake up chatty, moving fun fest or angry cry. Angry cry only seems to resolve with a bottle. So we are limiting the size of the bottle. I'd like her to sleep until at least 6am. We leave home at 7:30, if it's 5:00 or later, I will give her a full bottle and not feed again before we leave. We are having some inconsistent success. I haven't been successful in pushing her to 6:00, but most days she wakes after 5:00. Also, she will go back to sleep pretty easily after that feed.
ETA: Our covering ped was actually pretty harsh on this topic. He let me know with the amount she eats during the day, any overnight feeding was habitual and not hunger. He very strongly suggested that it was time to break the habit and retrain her little brain.
pomelo / 5298 posts
@winniebee: One more thought, major gross motor skills being worked on? With C, her sleep wasn't interrupted by development. But K, clearly feels the need to work on her skills in the wee hours of the night.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@MamaG: I guess it's hard for me Bc I really don't know how much he is eating during the day by except it feels like a lot! He gets a bottle before bed every night and since eating a fair amount of solids reduced the number of oz before bed. Sometimes it's 5 but sometimes only 3 especially if he has nursed within a few hours. He either wakes yodeling and chirping or pissed crying. Since he share a wall with his brother I'm always worried he will wake him up!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@MamaG: I always wonder about that too though I never let that affect how i dealt with sleep with my first! I think I'm just a sucker because he is breastfed even though i know he probably rats more than enough.
pomelo / 5298 posts
@winniebee: He's growing well. I know he's smaller but he's following his curve well, right? The not knowing how much they are eating is one of the things about breastfeeding that made me batty. I really commend all of you that have stuck it out for so long. I'd probably have a different view if we weren't formula feeding.
Has T been bothered at all so far? C will stir a little when K is particularly loud but she doesn't ever wake (knock on wood).
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@MamaG: yes when he was born he wasn't even on the curve he was so little! He's 5th percentile but gained 9.5 lbs since birth in 6 mos so doing well. I don't think T is bothered as much MOTN (he himself wakes to pee anyways) but the early morning chirping I think makes him wake. It seems too odd that they would be awake at literally the same time many days. Last night wasn't bad he went down at 730, woke eat at 3, up again at 530 and I just gave him his pack and he slept til 630 (rare that he went back down without rocking or feeding).
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@winniebee: Logan thankfully doesn't wake much at night anymore and if he does, but I've been letting him CIO to sleep! I really hope Ryan starts giving you some of those longer stretches at night. From what you've said, it sounds like he's getting plenty of food during the day, so hopefully he's just waking at night out of habit and will soon be sleeping through most of the night!
Also, Logan shares a wall with Xander too and so far, they have yet to wake each other up, so I think you'll be okay letting him cry at night. Does T use a sound machine at all?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
So.... Logan has taken to blowing raspberries into my boob when he's done nursing...
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@Adira: he does use a sound machine! I guess it's more than share a wall though - they have an adjoining door and it's a big old house so you definitely can hear a little! The longest Ryan has ever done is 8/8.5 hours so I just wonder if that's the longest he CAN go? So maybe I should do a "don't feed before 3" rule and see how that goes. Raspberries! The distracted nursing and playing while nursing is crazy!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@winniebee: Ahh, I see about the rooms. Still, I think you'll probably be okay. And if Ryan can go 8 hours, definitely try to enforce that (if you're up to it and it doesn't make you miserable). Once Logan started doing 7-8 hour stretches, I stopped feeding him if it had been shorter (except during a growth spurt - but those cries were very CLEAR). Good luck.

@winniebee: G is all over the place MOTN she has no pattern!
I think her sleep is pretty good over all at night, but lately she wakes crying 3 to 5 times a night crying or chirping, I truly think it is teeth or motor skills? But who knows I try not to feed her if I have with in a time frame....
Last night was another off night
Bed @8
Up at 10 rocked to sleep
Up at 12:45 nursed
Up at 3 put her self back to sleep
Up at 4:45 nursed she was livid
Up for day 7
I think truly I should not feed her as often as I do, but it's hard!
I like you had a no eating before 12 rule maybe I too will stretch that to 2 or 3
eggplant / 11861 posts
@Adira: ohhhh man..... these kiddos are crazy! I crack up, but MOTN not soo much...lol
pomegranate / 3973 posts
Our sleep varies as well; Last night bed at 8:30, nursed at 12:15 and 3 and then 6:50 after waking up at 6:30.
The most I've gotten is a little 6-1/2 hours in one stretch and that was just last week for a few nights.
Not sure that I'm ready to do any night-training either to skip those although I know I should! Its just so much easier/quicker to nurse him back to sleep.
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@Adira: lol, too funny.
Ethan has to take frequent breaks to look up at me and smile, too cute.
eggplant / 11861 posts
@josina: agree it is so easy to nurse back to sleep..... and selfishly since I do not have to work I enjoy the cuddles although the past few nights have been a little much
nectarine / 2053 posts
as far as motn feedings go, i don't think i'll drop them any time soon. since we've moved him to the crib instead of cosleeping he has been eating less during the night which has made him eat more during the day and he's actually eating more than i pump right now so i have been having to dip into my freezer stash and will have to start pumping on the weekends to be able to put more back into my freezer.
pomegranate / 3973 posts
I am getting frustrated with pumping... it seems like every other day I get bloody milk on the left side! If I catch it soon enough I use it/freeze it yet, but today it was bad. I think its usually when I hit/pass 20 minutes so I'll try just quiting sooner.
nectarine / 2053 posts
@josina: so weird! yeah, i'd try cutting it down some and see if that helps? pumping makes me frustrated too and i oly pump about 15 minutes!
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@whenoceansrise: I usually read while I pump so sometimes I just zone out and miss the 20 minute mark! I'm definitely going to try cutting the time down, even if I get an 1/2 ounce less it's better than dumping 3 ounces!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@josina: So frustrating! I usually read while I pump too, so I set an alarm on my phone so that I don't pump too long!
nectarine / 2210 posts
@winniebee: I'm not sure I'm the one to ask since K basically night weaned herself. She normally wakes around 5 or so and I'll feed her and bring her back to bed with us for the last hourish before we need to get up. Occasionally she'll wake up around 4, but I can normally give her a pacifier and she'll go back to sleep.
I guess it's a good thing she decided to wean herself, because since she's so tiny I'd probably keep feeding her. Although it could def be contributing to her tinyness as well.

Little miss is napping away today..I guess 2 nights of awful sleep is catching up to her! Shots later today so that won't help poor babe!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@Miss Ariel: I'm confident that she would be waking up if she were hungry!!
@FaithFertility: happy you are finally getting some good naps!!

Y'all I think we are definitely leaving behind that newborn stage that I don't love. The only remnant that makes me a little batty is the unpredictable sleep. But I'm finding that I'm enjoying life a bit more these days. It's definitely still not easy, but it's better.
eggplant / 11861 posts
@MamaG: awwww crazy how fast it goes!!! Although I loved the NB stage I'm finding this stage fun! They interact with you and are so wide eyed to the world!!!
