I have so many pairs of crib shoes for K (all gifts), we never wear any But I def have to get something for fall/winter whether it be shoes/socks, as her feet will be way too cold walking/crawling around our hardwood!
@MamaG: I saw that video, she is soo cute!
@theotherstark: Haha, thank goodness I don't let K crawl in the kitchen so she hasn't discovered the water dish yet! I also don't let her climb stairs, lol. Maybe I should...?
@BandDmommy: Can't wait for you to report back after your next appt!
@FaithFertility: That's so great they have that!
@winniebee: I know! People always say K is pretty chunky but she's only 50%!

I'm pretty sure K is gonna be a lil bully On Sundays at church she goes to this sunday school class that my mom teachers with older kids. THE bully of the class came over twice to try to take her toy away, she held on SO tight, he couldn't get it both times and he gave up, lol! And she'd crawl over to any kid and take their toys, lol! They all let her too since we kept telling them she's a baby, haha! And she gets involved with story time, eats their snacks too..

@MrsF: @BandDmommy: Agreed! E is constantly going after cords, and his favorite thing to do is pull the hallway nightlight out.

@snowjewelz: Its amazing how strong they can be! Trying to pull Ethan's toothbrush away yesterday was tough!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@josina: Their grips are crazy! A couple times she grabbed a cup or bottle that I was holding and she totally took it b/c I wasn't holding on tight enough!

@josina: i finally gave up and moved the nightlight to a different plug because E wouldn't leave it alone. it's not as nice functionally, but i was so sick of her immediately crawling over to get it. also our rental has a plastic piece under the fridge that is partially broken so it pulls off easily...guess what her favorite thing in the kitchen is?

updates: micah is kind of crawling! he can crawl, but he only does it when he wants. he prefers you to pick him up and carry him to where he wants to go.
also, i don't want to jinx it but he has been consistently sleeping through the night... i can't believe it!

@snowjewelz: i haven't done anything differently- no idea what changed but it is kind of nice!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@whenoceansrise: KIND OF nice?! SO nice! That's great! It seems like he naturally is STTN! That's what I want for K; for her to naturally get into it. Oneee daaayyyy...

@snowjewelz: well it's weird because i don't really feel more rested? plus i miss the motn cuddles! haha
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@KayKay: lol... We set it up during the day and plug it back in at night. Its like they figure out what we don't want them to play with and b-line right for it!
@whenoceansrise: Yay, glad he is also STTN! We are on week 2 with E figuring it out. I actually woke him up at 4:30 this morning because I was FULL and didn't want to pump. I actually think at night now when he does wake up, 'this could be the last time'. It's bittersweet!
@snowjewelz: Hopefully K figures it out on her own soon!

@josina: After a stretch of bad sleep, we're slowly getting better! I'm glad we got rid of sleep crutch #1, so hopefully we're on the way to sleep in own crib/room and STTN soon!
nectarine / 2053 posts
@josina: he usually wakes up between 5:30-6:00 and i feed him and sometimes he'll go back to sleep but mostly he's up for the day. my supply has already regulated to that!

R had his 9m visit this morning. He's 17 lb, 5 oz (12th percent) and 27.5 inches (50th percent). He's nearly the size of T at 12 months! Doc is pleased with his development and growth EXCEPT sleep.
He should be STTN by now....she suggested no more nursing to sleep. CIO is really hard MOTN once they've gotten a good stretch under their belts. R had been doing so well in the sleep dept but it's been bad for a few weeks and I keep trying CIO with no success.

@winniebee: How much is he sleeping? What do you mean by STTN? I thought it was normal for kids to have 1-2 wakings at this age?
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@whenoceansrise: I'm hoping my supply regulates soon! I can usually go 8 hours at night w/o leaking but he didn't nurse much yesterday, and I held out on pumping b/c I want to regulate to that... so last night I was fuller than normal.
I'm only pumping 2x per day now and I'm getting the same amount instead of less! I have NO more freezer room.
@winniebee: That sucks about the sleep. E has been going down semi-awake and I'll rub his back till he falls back asleep, so he does actually fall asleep IN the crib, vs in my arms. The nurse told me the same thing about STTN, but I let it go in one ear, out the other... I wasn't ready to do anymore CIO.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@Adira: she said most breastfed babies drop all night feeds by 9 months. R was doing one long stretch of 8+ hours but that's gone out the window for no apparent reason.
@josina: yeah I was asking for her opinion on it because I'm at my wits end. I have zero patience for my 3yo on so little sleep and I know we would all be much happier without night wakings.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@winniebee: I find that hard to believe. Both of mine are great sleepers and still wake/woke at least once to eat (although it's thankfully around 5:00 a.m.). Plus there's a 9 month sleep regression I think which could be the reason for sudden crappy sleep.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@Adira: 5 am isn't considered a night waking though!!. 5 is technically morning...we didn't get into specifics about how many hours is sttn but she did say he should be able to go 8 hours at least. And he can but for some reason is not anymore.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@winniebee: K actually sleeps 8 hr straight (7pm till 3am) so she really isn't doing bad... After 5am is when it gets tough for her and she can't seem to settle back
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@josina: Uggh so jealous! Only if you were closer you can give me some
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@winniebee: Ahh, that's why I wondered what STTN meant, since some people consider it 11-12 hours. I'm guessing he's going through the 9 month regression, unfortunately.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@winniebee: Ride it out! I'm pretty sure it's teething and sleep regression. I feel like we're coming out of ours and K is going back to doing the first 8 hr stretch. But before that we had some pretty horrid sleep, or it took soo long to GET her to sleep.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@Adira: my kids have never slept 12 hours ever! Even Ty was a 10 hour a night sleeper until he was on one nap.

@winniebee: I'm so sorry. Did the ped offer up some suggestions to get to STTN that you think you can do?
persimmon / 1328 posts
@winniebee: Hey, just popping in to say that R not STTN at this point is not that abnormal to me! DD did not STTN until I gave up and night weaned at 13-14 months old. I am not a CIO person, but every time she woke up, I stuck a binky in her mouth and held her until she fell asleep. It sucked (so much screaming), but it only took 2 nights. After she started STTN and pretty much has since. I know the 9 month regression hit her hard too and she slept terribly for a long time. I hope it gets better for you soon!
I know I don't comment much/ever, but I have been trying to catch up to some extent and I am enjoying seeing how big our babies have gotten and all the new things they are doing! Time flies!

@MrsScallop: It's always so nice to see you here I love the pictures of both of your beautiful kids on IG / FB. How are things?

@MrsScallop: Hey there! Thanks for popping in. It's always fun to see you pop up. How's Charlie doing in his new environment? Are you getting any additional "home" time?
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@MamaG: she suggested starting with getting him to go to sleep awake. I'm guilty of nursing right before bed. If he falls asleep, or is sleepy, great. If not he still goes in his crib for some form of CIO.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@MrsScallop: hi!!! Thanks for your input. I know a lot of my friends kids didn't stop waking at night either until weaning. I am not ready to wean yet so I'm hoping we can get some better sleep another way!! And yes more details on Charlie please!!!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@MrsScallop: hey hey! i'm with you when it comes to CIO... It sucks when I get no sleep, but I think letting her CIO is worse (to me). 9 mo regression def hit hard here too!
persimmon / 1328 posts
@MrsF: @MamaG: Thanks for the hello again ladies! We are doing pretty well here. I am experimenting with sleeping at home in my own bed each night, which is great and stressful at times. I feel like we are still in a transition phase where the staff here are still learning the do's and don'ts with Charlie, but overall things are headed in the right direction. He loves his new chair and being able to get out of his room (he such a flirt!) and has started getting some good time in with PT, OT, and Speech. They told me today that he actually has more skills than they might expect considering all he's gone through and been unable to do, so I am feeling really optimistic about what he will be able to accomplish. He can't roll or sit yet, but he has all the necessary skills to get there before too long.
persimmon / 1328 posts
@winniebee: Oh, I hear you on not being ready to night wean. I am not sure I was really ready for it even at 13 months, but sleep won for me at that point. Best of luck!
@snowjewelz: It is sooo hard to do CIO! My husband made me try it a couple times and I couldn't do it. Kudos to anyone who can though!
pomelo / 5298 posts
@winniebee: That's exactly where we are with our bottle feeding. Sometimes she's sleepy, sometimes asleep, and others awake. After the bottle is done, we make a small attempt to burp (that's become virtually impossible these days) and into the crib. DH does most of her bedtimes, but if I do it, I do take a few minutes to rock and snuggle since I only do this about 1x/every two weeks.
I've never been great with the drowsy but awake deal.
How long is R's first stretch of sleep most nights? And if you do CIO at the start of the night how long does he take to get to sleep? Does a lovey help at all?
Also, K took to clutching her burp cloth at some point, so that goes in her crib with her at night. Odd lovey, but whatever works!
