@MrsScallop: Aww glad to hear he's doing well! I do hope that you can rest better at night soon once the staff is more familiar with his care/routine!!

@MrsScallop: Amazing to think of starting speech therapy at this age. I'm glad you are getting all of the resources Charlie needs. I would imagine rolling would be a hard milestone to achieve with all of his extra gear. Is there any one physical milestone they are working toward first or is it more of an overall strength building exercise? In some ways I could almost see where sitting might be "safer".

@winnibee: i was actually updating baby books this morning (!!) and found my little daily journal that i kept with K. she had her first ever STTN at 9 months, but it was pretty off-and-on for almost another month after that. i don't remember it at all - ha - but apparently she still would have a night (or week!) here and there of waking up to eat 1x MOTN somewhere between 1-4am. but if you're over the wakeups, give something a shot! what about a dreamfeed?

@mrsscallop: sounds like C is doing awesome! and so happy you are getting some sleep at home (or at least pretending to sleep at home...i'm sure it's stressful!)

@MamaG: Yes, the speech is more like feeding therapy (working towards not needing the NG), but I am so glad he is getting something from all of the therapists. Sitting has been easiest for me to work on with him, but I think they want him to get to rolling so he can work on his legs, hips, abdominal muscles, and to stretch his spine out. He has pretty weak abs and his spine curves quite a bit both L-R and towards his back, and it sounds like getting him rolling and stretched on a harder surface will help that. His vent definitely hinders some lateral movement (well, all movement to some extent), but they are working on figuring out solutions so he can move better.

@MamaG: that's e xactly how we did it with Ty and he stopped waking up around 8/9 months on his own. I was hoping for the same....but I digress. He was usually doing 8 hours but now it's anywhere from only 3 hours to 6 hours. He goes down around 7 and has been waking between 10-1 and then again around 430. Sometimes another waking. Up for the day by 630. We have a lovey already. If he needs to cio at bedtime I usually have to do one check but he goes to sleep within 15 mins and doesn't sound nearly as distressed as in MOTN

@MrsScallop: Its so exciting after all he/you have been through to see him working on 'normal' things like sitting, rolling, eating, and good to hear that they think he is doing better than they expected! So glad that you have been able to sleep in your own bed again, although I'm sure it will be awhile before you can do so without worrying!

Oh I forgot to mention out pediatrician is pregnant and due in December with her second. So she will miss Ryan's one year visit. I love her. Boo!

@winniebee: R is growing up! Hopefully he figures it out on the sleep front!

@MamaG: @winniebee: I am totally guilty of nursing her to sleep, granted many times she wakes when I put her down and will go back to sleep but she definitely does not go into the crib awake awake.......I just keep saying it works , we are happy so I will change when we are ready!

@MrsScallop: I love seeing your updates and am so glad he is doing well

@KayKay: thanks! I don't want to start another habit I have to break with a dream feed though. Since the multiple night waking thing seems to be just a phase I'm going to work on getting him down awake (which I did tonight). Usually he wakes up a little after eating before bed because I kiss him and say goodnight and put him in crib, but I'm going to make more of an effort to make sure he's actually awake. Tonight he fussed for a few mins and then I kissed him again and gave him his lovey and said good night and that was that! At 7:15,...who knows what will be tonight!

@BandDmommy: @josina: @KayKay: Electric cords are Jack's favorite thing ever. And as far as the hallway night light - he pulls it out of the electric socket and chews on it. Great...

@whenoceansrise: crawling and STTN!?! That's great!
@winniebee: Sounds like a great appointment! I hope that you have some success in the sleep department soon.

@MamaG: Molly still has her burp cloth (grubby old gerber prefolds) as a lovey at almost 3 years! She calls it "burpie". The good thing is we have about 10 of them which she rotates through easily.

@winniebee: yeah, I get that. Plus if he has been waking after 3ish hours anyways, that's basically a dreamfeed! Hopefully he just figures out on his own how good sleep is and soon! Slash maybe your change to the bedtime routine will help.
@mrsf: burpie. Hilarious. And convenient!

@MrsScallop: It sounds like many exciting things are on the horizon for Charlie! You and he have been working so hard. I hope that much more time at home is in your near future

@MrsF: one of my coworkers said his now grown daughter had the same lovey. The got down to the last one and somehow she let it fly out the window!

I meant to share that we went off our soy formula this weekend. So no more reflux meds and on a dairy based formula and NO spit up. Like none, zip, zilch, zero! I'm so glad those days are finally behind us.

@MrsScallop: I imagine getting off the NG tube would be a great accomplishment. I hope you see that soon'ish. I noticed in the IG photos that Charlie had something on his foot? Was that a pulse oximeter or something else? He's looking great, and I love that he's motivated. Such an amazing little fighter.

@MamaG: that's so great! It feels so wonderful to be moving past some of these issues that are so frustrating in the first year.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@MamaG: That's great! I went on dairy at 7 ish months and we went off meds at 8 months. He spits up only occasionally now....like only a few times a week!
pomelo / 5298 posts
@winniebee: I'm starting to think 10 months is really the new measure for spit up "cure". I know our doctor told us 6 months. Hopefully R gets there closer to 10 months too!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@MamaG: It's honestly so negligible now and when it happens it surprises me. Our GI doc said it would slow down between 6-8 months and that was true for us! It only happens now if he has a heavy nursing day (read: OVEREATING!)

@FaithFertility: I am so sorry.
@MamaG: Woohoo!
So I think we weaned as of today I pumped not even 3 oz yesterday, so I'm still gonna pump today to try to make 1 full bottle at least. She isn't dependent on nursing to sleep or for MOTN wakes anyway, so I don't think she'll miss the boob; I don't mind comfort nursing, if she can get anything out of it. Sooo bittersweet. At least we still co-sleep so I still get the snuggles? Now I don't want her to go to her crib!
I see her trying really hard to put herself to sleep.. She will scoot everywhere in the bed, put paci in her mouth, change position a thousand times... But last night after 20+ min of this I ended up picking her up since I didn't want her to get OT by then. For MOTN, there are def wake ups where she crawls somewhere else and passes back out, but still times when I need to hold her.

@MamaG: I'm going to see early April since I don't make it past 37 weeks.
pomelo / 5298 posts
@BandDmommy: Maybe 3rd times a charm to get you to 40 weeks. Regardless 37 would be great too. Good Luck!

@BandDmommy: Aww yay! And the journey begins again. I hope you have a happy and healthy 9 mo, and keep us updated on this lil nugget! I am sure you are gonna have another gorgeous angel baby!
