@BandDmommy: the Wild Things... soooo cute!
I've also never heard of elfster? What is it exactly?

@josina: it's a gifting website. It automatically draws name for gift exchange. You can set up a profile with items your LO would enjoy.

Went to daycare today with her to drop off supplies and forms, etc. We left her there for a good 10-15 min and it makes me so happy to see that she's having fun! She is the youngest one there but she fit in just fine! She even stood there not holding onto anything for almost a minute to show off?! And then she attempts to walk too but obviously she cannot, haha.

BF mamas, how often are your babies nursing? I dropped one of our nursing sessions so now we're at 5x/day. J doesn't really seem to care. He's eating breakfast, lunch & dinner and a bit of snacking if it's convenient. I feel like he's eating something 24/7!
I don't nurse at all on my work days and yesterday I only pumped 3 times instead of 4! I pump in the car on both commutes so that meant I only had to figure out the logistics of pumping once during my shift. Such a game changer for my day and I wasn't uncomfortable or anything so I'm thrilled. I have enough milk in the freezer that it's ok if I don't quite pump what he's eating.

@MrsF: I've dropped to two sessions. We were doing 5 sessions but 3 of them felt like a waste, so I didn't feel bad dropping. I just offer her a sippy cup of milk instead.

@MrsF: We nurse 2 x a day M-F she gets formula and sippy at day care
Nurse 2-3 x during the weekend but I try to do state cup all day like daycare, but some days she takes FOREVER to drink and we have somewhere to go so I nurse her quick

We're doing 4-5x/day. But at least one of those times (usually late afternoon) is a bust and she just does bf-olympics and bails before my letdown. More often I'm not even worrying about that feed and just offering WCM or water in a cup at meals instead. She sips a bit.
Does anyone else hate feeding their children solids? Slash has anyone effectively implemented the "if you throw food, you're done" rule? Ugh. I'm realizing how nice it was that LO1 had breakfast, lunch, and snack at daycare during the week! I swear all I do somedays is prep meals and clean up crumbs/stains/spills.
DH hasn't been home until 9p 4 nights this week. We're hanging on by a very slovenly thread here...

@KayKay: The mess! I'm over it. Even my four year old ends up with crumbs everywhere. She likes to break crackers into ridiculously small pieces lately!
pear / 1961 posts
@mamag: and we even have a very food motivated golden retriever to lap up a LOT of the bits and pieces. what do people without dogs do!?
eggplant / 11861 posts
@KayKay: funny , I am so thankful we do only dinner ....lol
Her sitter states she sits in highchair will drink her whole cup by herself and eat ALL her food no fuss no.issue and that included purées..... For dinner she smacks her cup takes a sip smacks her cup sip....food flying, trying to grab spoon.....lol
It is chaos!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@KayKay: Hang in there mama!! You are doing great!
K so far is a good eater and does not throw food. Plus our dog is WAITING to lick every speck that gets on the floor AND she licks the tray clean afterwards for me, lol!
pomelo / 5660 posts
@KayKay: D likes the windshield wiper move. I grab her hand and say "no" firmly. The 3rd time I remove the tray. My dog is such a picky eater, he looks at the food on the ground in disgust.
honeydew / 7283 posts
@BandDmommy: Yeah - I think that he usually does 4 solid sessions / day but the after nap times were probably throwaways. I'll probably drop the afternoon one soon. Does D drink breastmilk from a sippy?
I feel like I'm back to the same "sippy cup search" that I already did with M. I want J to drink more water and be able to transition to milk, but he's not really interested in drinking anything from a cup. Anything with a soft spout he destroys with his teeth! He does well with bottles but I'd like to drop them close to a year.

@MrsF: Straw? G rocks her straw cup! She never took a bottle after 3 months and didn't take well to sippy

Just put in to take next Friday off (birthday) I am stoked Big 30 and this Mama needs a 3 day weekend!!!!

@FaithFertility: Yeah, I feel the same way about nursing. It's just so quick and easy and giving him a snack or a cup instead would mean that we NEVER get out the door
@KayKay: I feel the same way about the meal planning, meal prep, serving meal, cleaning up. Rinse and repeat. Ugh. I remember feeling similarly frustrated with M was this age. Luckily J is such a food monster that he almost never drops anything. It's unbelievable. M used to make a huge mess on the floor but J gets almost every bite in his mouth. The dog is definitely disappointed. The cup he throws though...

@FaithFertility: sounds great! Happy almost birthday!
Most of the straw cups have soft rubber straws. We always used those with M, but J is chewing right through them!

@KayKay: I feel like I'm constantly either nursing, prepping his actual food, eating/getting him to eat, or cleaning up! haha. And he's not a big food thrower (knock on wood!), but he likes dropping food for the dog. His other favorite move is slamming his open palm on the tray a bunch of times, to watch the food bounce up and down and fall on the ground. Yay.
Man, H has had a cold this last week (as have I), and it has been rough. His sleep has been horrible, due to all the congestion and coughing, and he has only wanted his mom when he wakes up. So I have been doing all the (many, many) wake ups. Poor little bug. I feel so bad for him! Must suck to have a cold and feel so crummy but not know how to fix it or anything.
He seems to be on the mend, though. This rainy, cold weather we've been having isn't helping!

Oh, and he also learned how to blow bubbles in the bathtub last night, which is basically the cutest thing I've ever seen. He'll blow bubbles, then look up and cackle, then do it again. Ha!! This kid. It really is crazy how much you love them!

@MrsF: we've just been using the munchkin cup. He likes drinking water out of it (and does gnaw on the sippy part a bit). For some reason he doesn't really like drinking pumped bm out of it, although I've only tried a few times. I think he's just so used to water coming out?

@theotherstark: aww poor guy, sick babes makes my heart hurt, they are so helpless in that department, I know how crummy I feel sick so I can't imagine them!
Glad you guys seem on the mend!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@theotherstark: Poor baby J was sick recently (we all were, of course) and I felt so badly. At least my 3 year old can understand that she has a cold, it must be so confusing for the babies! So cute about blowing bubbles in the tub though

@KayKay: ugh the food messes are out of control. I am either nursing, making a meal, or cleaning up from one. All day. Ugh! I had 3 solo bed times this week. Not a fan. 5 if you include the past few nights when I had to do it but am with my family.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@MrsF: we are down to 5 feeds a day. Usually 430-5 am, before both naps, then around 4 and bed time (7). He has very little interest in the 4pm feed so I see that going out the window shortly.
I don't feed Ryan overnight anymore but he wakes up every frigging night still. It's def a relief to not be nursing overnight anymore though.
honeydew / 7283 posts
@winniebee: those are pretty much the exact times that I'm feeding J and I'll probably drop the 4pm one as well (although sometimes it feels like a moment of solitude that I'd miss!)
Sorry that R is still waking though. What the heck, kid?

@FaithFertility: we're birthday month twins too then since mine is on Saturday.

Darcy had been doing it inconsistently but yesterday when we had guests over she did it about 10 times, so I'm going to say she has mastered standing without pulling up anything and can stand for a long time. She even stands and booty pops a la Beyoncé. Trouble. She also likes to wave her hands while standing. My tiny dancer!! Lol
