@MamaG: T actually had moved to the young toddler room (it was called "movers") when he was 9.5 months or so (the room went from that age up to 15 months). I knew that he would never sleep on a mat at that age, so I insisted he sleep in a P&P or crib and they accommodated me. Not sure if that's a concern or not!

@Adira: No rush! The sooner they are mobile the sooner they are into EVERYTHING.

@BandDmommy: I think you are familiar with the equipment at Primrose (I think they all use the same things). Apparently she slept on a cot at the last Parents Night Out (about two weeks ago) without any issues. The director said that they would use a crib for nap if needed but they'd like her to at least try the cot first.
@Adira: The chairs in the toddler room have sides on them. They are essentially the same chairs they use as high chairs without the tray and straps. This isn't the exact chair, but the closest I could find an image of online.

@MamaG: If you are good with it that that's all that matters. I just personally would prefer a crib. Different strokes for different folks.

@MamaG: I know my kid would fall out of that immediately (he likes to lean forward), but hopefully it'll all work out fine for your LO!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@MamaG: K seems very advanced physically...I'm sure she'll do fine in those chairs!

@Adira: Our school is setup as Young Infants (before any mobility), Older Infants (crawlers), Young Toddlers (walkers). Typically the kiddos are moved to Young Toddlers somewhere between 12-18 months. C went when she was 15 months.
K is in the Older Infants class right now and has been since about six months when she was mobile. She wasn't fully crawling but was rolling/scooting around.
I knew this move was coming, I expected it to be 1/1 rather than 10/1. But then again I didn't expect K to be walking already.
And yes, she's "walking". I think @MrsF description of her "toddling" is best. She's not what I would call steady/stable. She is doing more walking than crawling but she will use both modes of movement.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@MamaG: Ahh, she'll probably do fine with the toddlers then! She sounds MUCH more mobile than mine, who's not even crawling, haha.

@Adira: The grass isn't always greener, my home life would be much easier if she wasn't walking. It's a constant shuffle of things to see where I can move things to keep her out of them. I thought the play kitchen and all of it's goods were out of her reach. Yesterday she found them and now I need to sort out all of the choking hazards

How many of you have a dedicated play room for your kiddo(s)? I really wish we had one, but it's not happening in our current house unless I get rid of our guest room. And how many or what sort of toys do you keep in your kiddo's room?

@MamaG: Growing up so fast! I have a feeling she'd totally be fine too!
We have a large space in the basement that will pretty much become her playroom, since we also have a couch/tv down there, plus laundry room is down there so bonus that one day I can do laundry with her playing! But it will be for when she's older. For now we gated off our living room and that's her play space.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@MamaG: We do...it's amazing to have that space. It's a rental home though. Now we're spoiled and I feel like any house we buy must have one ; ) I'll take some pics.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
K is starting daycare next week and she will be in the older infant room too, but the director already said she does move kids or let them stay behind based on where they're at.
So yeah, we picked the center afterall. It's SO much cheaper at the home care, but I think it just came down to I will worry less if she's at a center. That and less transition for her since she can pretty much stay there till Kindergarten.

@MamaG: No playroom here! Here's our toy locations, though it's pretty random:
Living room: Legos, Table & Chair, Play food/dishes, some books, some stuffed animals, some puzzles, random cars/trucks, train tracks & trains, exersaucer
Office: Some balls/ball toys, some matchbox cars, bouncer (that we don't really use), teethers/rattles, some blocks
Xander's room: Basketball hoop, main balls (basketball, soccer ball, kick ball, tennis ball), baseball bat, books, blocks, LittlePeople toys, more matchbox cars, walker (which will more downstairs into the living room when Logan can actually use it).
Logan's room: some blocks... we don't really play in here.

@MamaG: we have a dedicated playroom in basement next to our media room. It's nice having the space!

@MamaG: We have a playroom where we keep most of the kids toys, but there are still toys all over the house. It's nice to have a space that we've designated as a playroom, but it's not gated off. It opens right into our kitchen / dining room without a real doorway so it would be really hard to gate. So... we're not baby proofed at all and I have to watch J like a hawk to keep him out of the dog food, dishwasher and who knows what else

@mamag: K went to a Bright Horizons FT until she was 2.25. Their classrooms were 0-1ish, and then 1-2ish. The only table & chairs they had were like what you showed the pic of, and they started using them as soon as they could sit up (so like 5-6 months usually)....and they transitioned them to cots around 10-11 months so they were prepped and ready for the Toddler classroom. So I'm sure she'll do fine!
We do not really have a dedicated playroom in our rental house. Our (non heated, non insulated) porch has been our makeshift playroom this late-summer/fall. And the we'll use the (crappily) finished basement as one this winter. But neither is technically one, and we also have various toys in the living room and in the girls' rooms. It'd be so nice to have a fully baby-proofed place where I could lock E in! Alas, not going to happen until we move

@winniebee: In Texas a lot of newer homes have a "bonus room" which many families use as a play room. I never saw the value in it. But then again last time I was in the market for a home I was single (7 years ago) and had no plans for having a family. Oh how life throws a curveball every now and again.
My sister has one and it's the entire third floor of her house. It would be MARVELOUS! I have a lot of house envy over her home these days. But it's in a part of the state that I have no desire to live in and raise a family.

@snowjewelz: I like that, it's a nice space. I wish we had room to do something like that. Maybe it's time to get rid of our large sectional and ottoman.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
Playroom is downstairs/main floor adjacent to living room - it's a second parlor and have pocket doors I can close off. Pic overload!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
A few more. Along with living room that has a bin of toys and a few things for Ryan. The boys each have books and a small bin of toys in their room. And Ty has an enormous bin of stuffies in the living room and in his room. He is a hoarder.

@MamaG: No dedicated play room in our house... E pretty much has free reign, which means a lot of putting things back into cabinets. We have a large basket of toys in the living room (legos, drum set, cars, etc.), his mobile-toys (walkers) and a few toys in his room. If we're in the back of the house he will usually gravitate towards my fingernail polish or the nightlights anyways.
Still can't believe she is walking already!
@snowjewelz: Glad you're happy with your decision, it will be nice to not have to move her later on!
@BandDmommy: We need to finish our basement yet, but would love to eventually have a space like yours! Of course by the time we get it done I'll probably have teenagers!

Had more bloodwork yesterday - HCG finally below 5 (considered not pregnant) and bleeding is pretty much stopped (13 days later).....nurse said OB recommended waiting a few cycles before TTC again...I didn't ask to have a conversation with OB because we don't plan to TTC until R is 1 anyways. Probably after the holidays. Not sure what to do about BCP until then....
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@KayKay: we are seriously spoiled. but pay an obscene amount in rent.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@MamaG: yeah we used to have a pretty matching storage ottoman that is now moved to the side and waiting to go into the basement. One day I will have my pretty living room back... lol. I def do not have house envy. We don't have a big house at all, but I can barely keep up with cleaning as it is haha so I never ever wish for more space!
@winniebee: Love that art work display! K's cousin loves his train table too! T and R must have so much fun!
I'm glad the bleeding finally stopped! Must not be fun bleeding for almost 2 weeks There's really only 2 months left till you can "officially" TTC!

@winniebee: Are those Thomas trains you have still being used... if not...
pomelo / 5298 posts
@winniebee: That's awesome - and pocket doors! Okay, more house envy for me to have!
C has stuffies and books in her room. Her room is fairly small after her full size bed took up a large share. And her room is on the 2nd floor, I prefer her not to be up there playing alone.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@Adira: haha, yep. T got his first Thomas trains at 18m and the table when he turned 2....and he still plays with it weekly. It was a MAJOR obsession from 2-2.5. R is now interested in it so it will be staying put : )
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@winniebee: haha, I assumed. I need trains for Xander! He's obsessed with Thomas! But they are so expensive!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@Adira: See all those toys in that play room? I've bought approximately 2% of them. We have very generous grandparents and aunties/uncles. ; )
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@winniebee: haha, yeah, the majority of our toys are from friends and family too! But we were thinking Santa was going to get some Thomas toys for Xander, which means me... lol
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@Adira: Favorites were/are: Thomas, Percy, Salty, Henry, Caboose, Engineer, Aquarium Trains, and some of the cargo trains.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: 90% of her toys I buy used from local B/S/T FB groups! Some of the came to me pretty much brand new!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@snowjewelz: Very nice!!
@winniebee: Nice! I was thinking of starting Xander with Thomas, Percy, James, and Gordon - those are his favorite trains at the moment from the shows. He also really likes Harold the Helicopter, haha.
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@Adira: I used to work for Tomy (who makes Thomas toys), the 10% discount we used to get from the outlet store would come in handy now that I have a baby/boy!
