@winniebee: Sorry your boys are still so sick.

Okay, I'm officially desperate. I just changed Logan's well-visit appointment tomorrow so I can attend a Nursing Mom's Group. Really hoping that seeing other babies nursing will get Logan to want to again!

K has both ears infected again. She got a shot of antibiotics and a new prescription. And the biggest news. Surgery on Monday am to get tubes. Keep her in your thoughts on Monday, please.

Just spent 20 minutes rocking and singing to Logan so I could try nursing him once he was asleep. No such luck. Back to pumping!

@Adira: so what happens when you try to nurse him now? When I ask Ryan if he wants to nurse he will take his paci out of his mouth. But sometimes he doesn't so I take it out for him and sort of guide him towards the breast like in the early days. He then latches and nurses. It seems like he could go without though and maybe if I didn't do that he wouldn't?

@winniebee: When I try to nurse, he just turns his head away. Usually as soon as he sees my boob. And if I don't put it away or put him down immediately, he starts whining and arching to get away. And just tonight when I tried while he was sleeping, he just kept his mouth clamped shut and would turn his head away whenever I pressed my boob to his lips.

@MamaG: Oh, poor kiddo I'll be thinking of her!

@adira: ugh! that's so frustrating! hopefully he gets over it, but if not, i'm sorry that your nursing journey may be ending unexpectedly! these babies just keep growing up before we're ready

@AngelicOne: @FaithFertility: @Adira: @winniebee: @Adira: Thanks ladies. I'm nervous about the actual process of surgery, but really hopeful that we see an improvement in her overall health. I just want my baby better!

@mamag: not familiar with tubes, do they have to put her under? the worst part of surgery on kiddos is them coming out of anesthesia
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@MamaG: Agree! Hope the tubes will help her get better!
@Adira: I'm sorry! This must be so hard
K is definitely challenging us with meal times still.. Last night she kept spitting her food out
pomelo / 5298 posts
@KayKay: Yes. The ENT said they will give her a liquid first (like valium), then gas. She said typically that's enough. If they have to they will go to an IV once she's asleep. The procedure only takes about 15 minutes. I've heard horrible stories of kids coming out of anesthesia. It scares me.

@snowjewelz: awwww so sorry! I have no advice , but my beat friend's daughter gave them heck at meal times, she just tried to make it not a battle as much as possible I remember it being very hard!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@FaithFertility: She's not bad every meal time, but it's the unpredictability that drives me crazy! She is totally testing our boundaries with everything lately. Such a fun age, but definitely new headaches everyday, haha!
She mimics what we do to open the baby gate, I hope she really can't open it one day She goes up and downstairs as she pleases; we taught her to have to sit on each step and slide down; she does it on her own so she can go up/down whenever she wants
(we're right next to her of course). She knows exactly what she cannot do but does it and then looks at us to test us!

@snowjewelz: Ohhhh we are in that boat too!!! G will go to touch anything she can't and if I catch her she jumps and points and says "What's that!" Like she was just going to ask what it is?!?!? Yeah right kid, you know that is the plug in and you can't touch it!!!!!

@FaithFertility: hahahaha so tricky like whaaat I was just checking out to see what it was....................... NOT!

@mamag: well, just steel yourself (and be prepared for tears...your own!). K had surgery for blocked tear ducts at 18m, and luckily a coworker had told me about that -- i would've never thought about it! DH was a surgeon (at the same hospital) so was going to go back to work after they took me back to recovery, and I just burst into tears. They didn't even bring me back until she was more fully awake (a nurse was holding her until then), but there was still a lot of confusion and moaning, and it was just kinda scary to see her so out of it. It didn't last super long, and her recovery was easy other than that part being hard on me! But you'll be so happy you did it to make her feel better in the long run!
pomelo / 5298 posts
@KayKay: Oh, I'm certain I'll cry like a baby the whole 15 minutes she's away. I wonder how DH will do? He nearly cried when our older got her first hair trim. Cry on our wedding day? NO. Cry about his girl getting a hair cut? YES. Oi, Daddies!

@MamaG: I have a couple friends who's LOs got tubes and it was a pretty quick and easy procedure and they were much happier and healthier after! Good luck to you.

So Logan has a double ear infection. But at the Nursing Group, the LC felt pretty confident that his nursing strike was due to the ear infections. So my current plan is to keep offering and pump while he's on his antibiotics and then return to a Nursing Group after he's all better if we are still having issues. Praying that clearing the ear infections ends the strike!

@FaithFertility: Don't feel bad! I have definitely scared both boys more than once when they've bitten me. Those little teeth are SHARP!
