@snowjewelz: I think growth spurts usually last 3 days, though they can go as long as a week. Hopefully yours is on the shorter side. And yay for heat!
@cheert16: I play on my phone in bed to, especially while nursing. And tonight Hubs was snoring so it took me forever to fall back asleep! Bummer E didn't do any really long stretches. But hopefully she will soon after the growth spurt.

Our schedule needs some time to settle. K slept pretty much from 7p -4a. We gave her another feed last night at 11p and she went right back to sleep. Unfortunately at 4a she was up for an hour. Which means no more sleep for me. It's going to be a long day for me.

Was there a full moon or something?!?!?
Ryan did finally sleep ok (for him, the rest of you would be horrified lol). A 2, then a few 2.5 hour stretches, then awake for an hour naturally, then an hour, then another but before toddler woke up.
I can't reply to all but Ryan does the acting starved but fussing at the breast when he is overtired and just wants to use me as a paci. And sometimes I just have to let him to fall asleep because he takes a paci but not always.

@MamaG: ugh awful. Glad your first day was ok tho!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@MamaG: 7:00 - 4:00 is a great stretch! But 4:00 is too early!!! Booo!! Maybe you can push her back an hour somehow... Drink lots of coffee today!
@winniebee: I was wondering if Logan was tired and that's why he was fussing at the boob last night too, but he was impossible to get to sleep. And his latch still isn't great, so he can't hold a pacifier well. When we give it to him, it's just constantly putting it back in his mouth. And eventually he nursed to sleep! These babies are hard to figure out.
Also, the swing is a magical device (at least right now)! I put Logan in it, and just left him there and he fell asleep!! Woohoo!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@Adira: my theory is the more tired they are the more difficult they are to get to sleep! Have you tried different pacis? I tried the playtex one that you were using and Ryan didn't like it but he likes NUK orthostar.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@winniebee: Oh, maybe I should try a different pacifier! I didn't even think of that because these are the same kind that Xander always used. Good call. And I think you are right about being overtired making it hard to get them to sleep. Stupid babies.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@winniebee: @Adira: I am so bad at telling if she is really hungry or truly tired! Looking back at last night I think she was overtired. But when she sucks like it's the end of the world at my boob and gets so mad I thought she was hungry and mad that the milk is not coming out fast enough (or not at all). And she drank all 2.5 oz that I gave her! After the marathon 2 hr rocking she ended up nursing go sleep!

We just woke up
G slept from 10-2
and basically was up and awake/fussy from
3-6..... finally passed out around 6:30-10
?!?!?!?!?!?!? Geeeesh!
I got good sleep but that pattern is a no go!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@snowjewelz: it is sooo hard to figure if they are hungry or not...... but I figure if she gets on and eats well then better feed her...
G doesn't really play on the boob she pushes off when done
Cute thing in bed she will use it as a pillow
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@FaithFertility: K is such good napper during the morning! I keep saying I don't mind her fussing in the morning/during the day but can she just sleep at night!!
That is so cute that she sleeps on your boob lol!

Ugh, so my husband is supposed to be on paternity leave. He ended up working till 2 am last night and then went in to work today. B is at ️mothers day out. However, our plans to look at preschools was scrapped because DH went to work. :(.

@snowjewelz: he's alreadh there.. This is the first time he's taken off.. It's been just me and the kids since D was born.. It's nice to have the company
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@BandDmommy: It really makes such a big difference with someone else around! Sep hubby too. My mom's here these 2 weeks b/c DH has classes... My mom is great and all but all I really want is DH!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@snowjewelz: it's hard to tell but I know ed tired Bc he pulls back on his latch ie he doesn't want more milk
@FaithFertility: that's a rough awake stretch! Glad u could sleep in though! Ryan likes to sleep on the boob too. Preferably with it IN his mouth.
@BandDmommy: that sucks. How long is he supposed to be off? The erratic work schedule is why I ended up looking at schools alone Also you might want to bring B anyways - Ts reactions to the people he met and the play spaces really spoke volumes to me.
pomelo / 5660 posts
@winniebee: he gets 30 days.. So far he's taken 0. He should just ask for cash and give up trying to take off.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@BandDmommy: Or commit to taking off and really take off! Paternity Leave is sooo rare to come by he should treasure it! I know it's easier said than done though!
Thank God for carrier... I tried to wear her once this morning but I guess she wasn't sleepy enough so she wasn't having any of it. Then I tried again later and she has been doing ok in it and my hands are finally free! I can eat! I can pee!
Although I am dreading tonight if this is really her 6 wk growth spurt starting
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@FaithFertility: I'm in the exact spot haha! The carrier made us both kinda sweaty so I took her out.

@snowjewelz: unfortunately his boss is very demanding. So, even when he commits to time it ends up being messed up. Only time it wasn't was when he doesn't have cell/Internet service. So, it's decided next vacation is on deserted island.

So, funny. B told his first joke yesterday. It was sooo bad but he thought he was hysterical.
B: guess what mommy?
Me: what?
B: chicken butt (he laughs hysterically)

@BandDmommy: ohhhh that is adorable
@snowjewelz: Her ear is sooo sweaty but she is so peaceful!

My PP apt is Friday what do they do?
Hahah you would think I'm over being affraid of Dr.
honeydew / 7283 posts
It's definitely hard to tell if they are hungry vs tired. I feel like I usuakly default to nursing him because it's so easy. Then he immediately falls asleep while sucking just a tiny bit - but he'll wake up and cry as soon as I take him off! Argh.
honeydew / 7283 posts
@FaithFertility: mine asked me questions about how I'm doing / feeling, checked weight & BP and did an internal exam (also placed the mirena).
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@FaithFertility: I had a 2 week one she mainly checked to make sure I'm healing. My 6 wk appt is Fri, I have to do the glucose test and I'm sure she will check me there again and talk about birth control.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@FaithFertility: Just had mine today and it was exactly what @MrsF: said. I hadn't decided what BC I want to use, so a lot of my appointment was talking about the different options.
Logan has been sleeping all day! I'm so nervous about tonight!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
Ryan rolled over twice today during tummy time. I know it was accidental at only 5w old but omg!!
Sleep dust to all....

Micah has been fussy all day and has wanted to be in my arms at all times. I wonder how tonight is going to go...
nectarine / 2210 posts
@winniebee: ours has done it a few times as well! Which I think is crazy since it isn't normally till 4 months or so, at least that's what I've read. But I'm happy to see we're not alone with this!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@Miss Ariel: yeah my first rolled at 4m! I know it was an accident but caught be off guard!
eggplant / 11861 posts
Ok again G went into her P&P woke right up but no fussing so I just let her be, she fell asleep in 5
I feel kinda bad just letting her be, but I also think it's good!

Wow, super disappointed, I feel like we did everything possible tonight to get a long stretch of sleep and we only got an hour and a half. Starting at 8:30 I nursed, gave E a bath, nursed again and then supplemented with 2 oz formula with lots of burping as we went and a fresh diaper change and swaddle. He was asleep by 10:20 and up again at 11:30 screaming. Back asleep now after nursing both sides... Here's hoping round 2 is better...

Looks like a lot of us are nervous about tonight-me too. N was screaming the whole day. If he wasn't nursing or in the sling, he was screaming:-(. I tried feeding him extra, he cried and spit up. I tried rocking, swinging, singing, different locations, looser diaper, tighter diaper...nothing. I am very, very afraid for tonight!!

@FaithFertility: I had two PP checkups because I had a C-section (am I the only one on here that had one? I swear someone else did...). First one was two weeks PP to check incision and ask how I was feeling emotionally and physically. Second (8 weeks) was to talk about BC, check incision again, did an internal exam, etc. I love my OB and was kind of sad at the end of the last one because I really enjoyed working with him over the last 10 months!
