I just wanted to thank everyone for the gifts you sent me! All four arrived last week, which was perfect timing since we moved to the new house on Saturday. It's so nice being in our own space again. Now hopefully we can unpack the various boxes and trash bags of belongings that did survive before the next baby arrives in the next few weeks. Thanks again from all of us for thinking of us! I feel so lucky to have found and be part of such an amazing group of moms!

@Miss Ariel: It's great to hear that they arrived at a good time and will be useful for you! I can't imagine all that you have been going through, particularly with a baby arriving soon. You are one strong mama and we were so thrilled to have an opportunity to help. We are all lucky to have each other

@FaithFertility: on the bright side, you get a long weekend. I hope the storm passes quickly and there isn't too much damage. Also that you don't have to go to the hospital in the middle of it all!

@FaithFertility: Yikes! I'll be thinking of you and sweet AJ! Keep us posted

@FaithFertility: Stay safe! That'll be quite the story to tell if AJ comes early. My sis in SC is leaving on Thursday to get away from the hurricane.
@Adira: Hope all is okay!

@FaithFertility: Hope the storm and AJ will miss each other!
We had two wacky days of K not waking up till 8am! This actually really sucks as I pretty much need to get out of the house by 8:30 the latest. We usually have such leisurely mornings with at least an hour to get everyone ready!

@faithfertility: nothing like adding a little extra excitement to the upcoming birth!

K apparently learned how to open doors yesterday. She woke up yesterday morning around 5ish and was hoping she'd fall back asleep, but the next thing I know she's getting louder because she was in the hall. It happened again after her nap. Luckily my mil had already bought us stair gates so those definitely went up last night. Not sure I'm quite ready for this!!

@Miss Ariel: Our girl can open doors too, but fortunately, she's still a crib sleeper. But she likes to appear in the bathroom The adults in the house know to lock the door, we are working with big sister to consistently lock the door.
We can't use door covers either like we did for big sister on the bathroom. Because big sister still can't figure out how to use the door covers.

Around 2:30 this morning I got woken up by what sounded like knocking on my bedroom door. I looked at the monitor and no sign of Micah in his crib. Opened the door and there he was holding his teddy bear. I took him back to his room and rocked him for a few minutes then put him back in his crib and stayed until he fell asleep.
Sooo, I'm starting to get more serious about his bed situation. His crib does convert to a toddler bed but we'll need the crib for baby #2 so I was considering buying a twin size bed. Has anyone else done this yet?

@whenoceansrise: We are almost there! We are just going to put my old twin mattress on the floor as a floor bed, since my current twin bed is a bit high. I just need to find a weekend to set up her dresser and actually finish up her big girl room!

@Miss Ariel: Ack! Kara can open doors too since she can reach the handles! We just don't have any sleep problems since we co-sleep I'm planning to use a door monkey when she moves into her room so that there is a gap and she isn't locked in, but she can't just come right out...

@MamaG: @snowjewelz: dh has talked about buying a door lock, but as long as she's still going to sleep and staying asleep without issue I'd rather not. We'll see if that changes.

@whenoceansrise: we were trying to figure this out too, but circumstances made the decision for us. My inlaws happened to have a toddler bed in storage which meant we only had to buy a single crib. Overalls she's actually impressed me with how well she's done in it. Hopefully it's the same for M if you do decide to switch.

@whenoceansrise: We did the crib conversion for our older, but we didn't need the crib quickly. I get why you wouldn't want to get another crib! If I were in your shoes, I'd probably move to a permanent bed (twin) and put the mesh rail on it if you are worried about him rolling out. The floor bed is also a reasonable option.
We moved from the crib conversion to a full size bed when we needed it for LO2. We never put a rail up. LO tended to sleep sideways on her bed. She's fallen out a few times but always just gets right back in her bed without issue. She was almost 3 when we moved to a full bed. She was just over two when we went to a crib conversion.

@whenoceansrise: Props to you for putting him back in his crib. That was our downfall
We just converted E's crib to a toddler bed, and will get an actual toddler bed for when baby 2 comes. Mainly because they will be sharing a tiny room.
@FaithFertility: Yikes! How are you feeling now? Do you think you'll make it till Monday? Exciting (minus the hurricane!)
nectarine / 2053 posts
@Miss Ariel: That's good to hear! I hope M does just as well!
@MamaG: I think that's what I'm going to do. Twin bed with mesh rail!
@josina: I was soooo tempted to just let him sleep with us since he just kept pointing at our bed but I knew if I gave in this time he'd know he could do it whenever he wanted. Man, I'm super tired today though!

@snowjewelz: @Miss Ariel: @whenoceansrise: M loves to open doors now too, now that he's a little taller & our knobs are the lever type ones. Fortunately, he's still in his PNP so no escaping yet! I'm thinking of getting him a twin & making a floor bed for Christmas or something.

We should have her room/bed set up within this month... Will keep everyone posted! We're going for a slow transition though... Letting her lead, and maybe just doing naps first b/c I really don't want her to leave my bed

Ryan is sleeping in his crib til age 14. That is all.

@whenoceansrise: @Miss Ariel: Ohhh these kiddos! Scary when they jump ship!!!!
@whenoceansrise: G has stayed in her crib since those few times, so I amam keeping her there as long as we can ! AJ has his own cribcrib/room
So we will just convert hers when need be!!!
@snowjewelz: big girl floor bed!!!!!
@winniebee: If it isn't broke don't fix it!!!!!!

@josina: Doing OK, this hurricane is definitely scary!
Had an apt today nothing going on, so she did no internal check since I am GB + this time! I think he will hang out at least Monday!

@winniebee: ha!
E is still in her crib, too. I'm not looking forward to moving her because she sleeps so well! I'm sure it will be fine -- I'll stress myself out over nothing
@angelicone: most of our door handles are lever types too, so E is ALL over those. including the one to the garage, so I have to keep it dead-bolted!

@winniebee: My thoughts exactly. J will be in diapers and in a crib until he's 27.

C has been in a twin since April. She was climbing out and trying to sneak into her big sister's bed. A was moving into the crib soon so we just went with it. It's been pretty easy. She very rarely leaves the room in the night. She can't do doorknobs but her but sister can so we have gates every where.
