I'm not going to lie, I will not miss pumping. I plan on EBF since I'm a SAHM.

@snowjewelz: I was going to suggest the same as @BandDmommy, I would get my makeup done for maternity pics. Even if you go to Sephora or one of the makeup counters at Macy's.

I'm not doing photos, but if I were I'd definitely splurge on a blow out and makeup.

Ladies, I have to get this stuff done. Remember I'm on the early end of our due dates. I've got 30 days. 30! Monday will be 4 weeks. And these last 4 weeks are going to be pure hell at work. I have so much to get done here that I know I won't have the time to get things done at home.

UPS, FedEx and USPS love us. I'm sure the recycling folks did today too. We have so.many.boxes!

@BandDmommy: Jealous you won't have to pump (much)!! I grew to love nursing, but pumping sucks monkey balls.

@MamaG: Holy smokes - 4 weeks???? Ahhh!!! I have twice that!!! And I'm already starting to freak out about how much still needs to get done!

33 weeks today! My MIL arrives Wednesday. She will be here for 2 weeks.

@Adira: I am kind of dreading bf again too. Tyler was so small and I had a crazy supply and let down and it was just too difficult so from 6w on I just pumped. I hope to make it work a lot longer for convenience sake but know that pumping is an ok second option.

@BandDmommy: my parents are coming to town so I hope to rest! And we are taking Tyler to sesame at live tomorrow

We have so much to do but furniture is not in yet so I can't really do much until that happens. Tyler is also *this close* to getting out of his crib so we need to switch him to his bed soon.

@snowjewelz: I never even considered the freestyle. I just wanted an upgraded PISA to include a bag and a few other things. But the upgraded PISA (backpack) was $130. That's more than I was expecting. I was glad they offered the $50 alternative. I can find a backpack for less than $80.

@winniebee: we finally turned the corner on Brennan's sleeping. He's now sleeping 8 pm to 7 am. Thank goodness!!!!

Our furniture is being delivered next Friday. DH has to repaint crown molding, he gave painters the wrong color. I'm hoping to get a ton done when MIL is here.

@BandDmommy: that's awesome! Ts night sleep is usually great (in crib at 8 and up at 630 and sometimes 7) but when he gets mad about napping he gets all the way over and never jumps.

@BandDmommy: @MamaG: Hmm I could consider going into a Sephora or Macys... I don't want to pay extra to get my make-up done, and I also get nervous if I get someone that I never used before, or had no trials with. At least at Sephora I can sit my butt there until it's the way I like it lol. A friend is doing the photos for us as a baby shower gift so it's not gonna be this huge thing and I don't want to look THAT made up... I just know I need more than my usual!

I've been having a lot of contractions at night lately and it's really freaked me out. My doctors cut off is 6 an hour and last night it got to 5 before it subsided. I've waved the white flag and am enlisting some help from my mom and mil to come up a day a week each to help with the house and Tyler. I'm already a few days farther out than I was with preterm labor with my first and I just hope that by resting a lot more I can make it to term without a hospital stay. It sucks to feel limited given how active I am with our son and how much work we have to do in the house, but the health of this baby is most important. Hanging pictures and getting every single thing set up is small potatoes.

@MamaG: I'd be getting the basic PISA too... I'd def consider getting the battery pack on my own just in case, and bag wise, you really can just use any bag as long as it can fit everything in it?! Would we miss out on any other accessories??

  16. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@winniebee: It's great that you got help so you can rest! I know ppl that try to do more than usual to bring on labor so I guess you need to do the opposite! I'll be thinking of you

@winniebee: Ah, that's scary about all the contractions. You are absolutely right - I'm so glad you're enlisting help and trying to take it easy!! Hopefully the little guy stays in there and keeps cooking!

As an aside, at my last appt when I brought up contractions (just irregular BH for me for now), my midwife said that they (BH contractions) can often be brought on by even slight dehydration. So just a PSA/reminder to everyone to make sure you're drinking plenty of water! You need more than you think while you're pregnant I'm usually pretty good about my water intake, but lately I haven't been as diligent because my stomach feels so full and squished. I could definitely stand to be better and more conscientious about it, I think.

@snowjewelz: In the past, I have gotten my makeup done at Nordstrom's (I prefer Clinique, but whichever brand you like best ). It's free, and they'll basically do it however you want! I can't remember, since it's been a while, but I think I called ahead of time just to make a little appointment so someone was available to do it.

@MamaG: Eek, you're getting so close! I'm still trying to figure out the best way to handle ordering my pump, since I don't think the places that my OB recommends going through takes my insurance. Still trying to sort it all out. And I still need to find a pediatrician!! Ahh!

@BandDmommy: Exciting that your furniture is coming in so soon!

  18. MamaG

    pomelo / 5298 posts

@snowjewelz: The person I spoke to at the supply company told me the difference between the starter set and the upgraded PISA (included a variety of bags) was the following three things:

    1) battery pack
    2) cooler bag with extra bottles
    3) the bag to carry everything.

I got the first two added on for about $50 (might have been $59). But to do the upgrade and include all three would have been $130+.

I'm sure I could have bought a cooler/ice pack cheaper, but I didn't want to mess with it.

@theotherstark: If you want a medela, I would start with this website:

    http://www.medelabreastfeedingus.com/insurance-pump-lookup

Alternatively, you can call your insurance and find out your options. UHC told me they had three DME providers and gave me the contact information. I ended up not using any of those three. I used one I found through the above link.

  20. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@MamaG: Mine's an $89 upgrade! That's crazy that they're saying the bag is an extra $70! A friend already gave me extra bottles she had, I recently was gifted a Skip Hop cooler w/ icepack, and I guess I will just have to put the pump in a random bag!

@snowjewelz: I also meant to comment on your non-stress tests. I've never had to do those. I'm thankful, because I was under the impression that they are an hour or more long. I just have sonograms and appts every week for the next four week.

  24. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@MamaG: Mine thankfully was just about 30 min I think. It's not too bad aside from the fact that I spend even more time at the doctor! I get set up on a nice recliner and there's TV haha.

@winniebee: Thinking of you! Hoping the extra rest will give you more time!

@MamaG: @snowjewelz: Regarding the PISA, the person I spoke with didn't even ask me if I wanted the basic- they just mailed me the one that came with the bag and everything, but my insurance still covered all of that. I wonder if it just depends on how much your insurance will pay?

@theotherstark: I called my insurance and asked- they gave me a phone number to call of a provider that was in my network. I called and spoke with a lady who asked me to have my doctor fax them a rx for the breast pump- once that was faxed they called me back and told me that my insurance would cover a pump up to $300 and asked which one I wanted then they mailed it to me. It was super easy!

  26. snowjewelz

    @whenoceansrise: You have good insurance!

@snowjewelz: We'll see about that when I get the charges for labor and delivery... haha

    pomegranate / 3045 posts

@whenoceansrise: Wow, that's amazing! Yeah, my insurance gave me a super long list of providers of medical equipment, not all of whom had breast pumps. So it was annoying just figuring out who had them that accepted my insurance. Unfortunately, my insurance just covers the bare bones basic Medela Pump in Style. Oh well, I'm still grateful I won't have to pay for the pump! Hopefully it will be sufficient, and I guess we can always buy more of the accessories if we find we need them.

@MamaG: I think my insurance company just isn't very helpful Ha.

Hi everyone! Can you believe how close we're getting!? I'm 36 weeks! How is it possible that there are only 4 more to go!?

Is anyone else out there not sleeping anymore? It's always something with me!!! I wake up at 4am every night because I need to pee. Then, the baby is moving. Then, I'm hungry. Then, I think about birth. Then, I think about all the things I need to do before birth. Then, I'm wide awake!!!! It's the worst. The good thing is that I've stopped working, so I can catch up during the day if I need to.

Also, what diaper bags do you all use!? I had my husband get me a Petunia Picklebottom City Carryall for my 30th, but it came in the wrong design, and they aren't getting the one I want until January! Does anyone have one that they love or swear by? I want a purse looking one, and I want it to be light!!!! This is the one that I love! Something about the gold over the silver...http://www.petunia.com/diaper-bags/carryalls/city-carryalls/city-carryall-central-park-north-stop-special-edition

I loved the Timi and Leslie Charlie bag in pewter, but the reviews suck, and it's almost 5lbs without anything in it! http://www.shoptimiandleslie.com/charlie-pewter.aspx#.VEJT2udRHCY

Do you have one that you love!?

Had a regular OB appointment yesterday which wasn't so great . Nothing terrible, just a lot of little things that seem to be creeping up on me like last time. My BP has been running about 100/70 and now it was 140/90 with a little protein in my urine. She was also a little worried about all of the BH contractions that I've been having at work so she did a cervical check and I'm 2cm dilated but still quite "firm" (sorry, yuck). So THEN she did a fetal fibronectin test (sort of a soft indicator for pre-term labor). Luckily that came back negative so she didn't take me off work yet or anything like that, but I'm worried that things are going to escalate. I was on bedrest from 34 weeks with M (I'm 33 right now) and delivered at 36 and I'm just freaking out about having to be on BR and care for a toddler as well! I promised to keep checking my BP at work and I'll go back to my OB in a week so... we'll see!

Sorry for the complaint-fest! I'm just feeling a little bummed and nervous.

@winniebee: Sorry to hear about the increased contractions! I'm still hoping we can both avoid bedrest!

@Mrs. BD: someone got me a skip hop! Not too girly so hopefully DH will be ok with using it too. It's my 1st tho so I really wouldn't know what REALLY works for me till I use it!

@MrsF: It is scary! hopefully you will be able to take it easy (always easier said than done)!

@MrsF: did you have preeclampsia last time? Take it easy! My OB won't check my cervix until 35 weeks because he thinks the progestorone is working. Plus he doesn't want to mess with my cervix. 6 more days and I'll make it past how long I was pregnant with B. I will breathe after I make it to 34 weeks. But paranoid all this week. Have fun at your sprinkle!!!

@Mrs. BD: for my first I loved the stork sak. Purselike, light, and good amount of pockets. I even threw it in the washer once and it was fine.

@MrsF: I'm so sorry! I can totally relate and it's very difficult. But you are so close to being in a safe zone! My contractions really picked up after 28 wks so I'm sure my cervix is now or I'm dilated. Hence the self imposed modified rest. Yesterday I rested 2.5 hrs in the afternoon while my son slept and then another 40 mins while he got a show before dinner. Last night I had minimal contractions. Today I've done a lot and have had a lot of them. I figure if I can make it until 35 wks then I can start finishing baby stuff. Is there anyone that can come help you out?

  40. MrsF

    honeydew / 7283 posts

@BandDmommy: I did have pre-e last time. When I started to have symptoms of HELLP syndrome, beyond the pre-e, I was induced. I wonder if my dr was less hesitant to check my cervix because I don't have a history of pre-term labor? Here's to an uneventful 6 days for you! Every day past that milestone and I bet you will feel so much better!
