@winniebee: Yeah, I'm going to call TRU tomorrow!
That's so sweet your LO wants to give the baby hugs and is excited about it! I still don't think Xander totally understands what's going on. He knows there's a baby in my belly, but I don't think he knows it's coming out!
@MamaG: I'm scared too. Xander's been super clingy lately and all over me and I don't know how he's going to handle the fact I'm going to have to be taking care of the baby...
@josina: I can't believe you're 3cm dilated already!!!! Crazy!! Some of these babies are coming SOON! Hopefully yours stays put a little longer.
honeydew / 7283 posts
@josina: Wow! I hope that baby stays cooking a little longer but I guess at least you have a little warning.
My OB checked me yesterday and said I was 2cm. She didn't mention how effaced but she thought it would be favorable for an induction if I needed it soon.

@Adira: how awful! I would call and see if they can replace the order!
@josina: ahh! So far no one has been checking my cervix... So crazy! I'm def constantly wondering if I could go early too.. Def not ready!

I guess it was a good thing I asked so now we know to get our buts in gear! I finished ordering a few things from target today that i needed- the crib sheets, diapers, and pack and play - with my registry discount. And started to get a hospital bag ready. BUT this little guy does need to stay in for awhile longer to stay out of NICU.

@josina: I was at 3 cm for a couple weeks with #1, but ended up being induced. I've heard you can be dilated for quite a while before going into labor!

@Adira: that's sucks so bad!
So our dog died today. He was acting funny this morning when I left for work, and I called DH at work to let him know. When Dh got home from work he said the dog was worse so he calls sand made an appointment. (Thursday) I called my dH about 40 minutes later to check in and he said our dog passed away in his arms. Dh had blackie for 15 years. Dh is devastated- I am so sad....

First time moms, are you getting nervous about birth? I'm starting to think about it a lot.........
I'm such a baby for anything medical, but then again I want to meet her so bad!

Ok, got called into hospital again last night after they got more results. I definitely have the liver condition and they are going to induce me the week after next (so 37 weeks) unless my bloods get significantly worse. Apparently they have doubled since Friday so that isn't good (don't know what has doubled though!). I have to go in every other day for monitoring and bloods. They kept talking about the risk of still birth after 38 weeks which was a bit traumatic. I'm not putting any thought into that for obvious reasons.
They told me I wont be able to have a natural water birth as I will be continually monitored so I'm coming to terms with that too. They said that getting induced that early usually results in a C-section for first time moms but I don't think that is necessarily true. I know the most important thing is that Lila comes out safe and healthy but I am sad I won't have the birth I wanted. Never mind.

@Mrs.Lilac: I am som sorry that you are having all that stress, I pray your numbers stay down, also I know many manu women that have been induced and dis not have c-sections. Like yup said anything to keep your baby safe, you sound likea loving mother aalready! Stay relaxed and positive!

@MrsF: It's crazy to me that you ladies are getting checked! My office never did a cervix check last time I was pregnant! I'm curious if they will this time or not.
@cheert16: I'm so so sorry to hear about your dog. That's devastating! How is your LO dealing with the news?
@Mrs.Lilac: I'm so sorry to hear about the liver condition and having to be induced!!! It has to be really disappointing to have an idea in your mind about how you want things to go and then suddenly have to change plans. But thank goodness for modern medicine and that they were able to catch your condition early enough that L will hopefully arrive here safe and sound!!! Prayers for you both!

@josina: I hope that your LO can stay on the inside a little longer, but if it helps to know - my DD was born at exactly 36 weeks and never had to go to the NICU. She was small (5lbs4oz) and it made learning to BF a little more difficult. We all stayed in the hospital an extra day or so and had more frequent pedi visits for the first few weeks but no big issues at all. Obviously every situation is different but I don't think the NICU is an automatic. Hopefully you go full-term and it's a non-issue!

@cheert16: I'm so sorry to hear about your dog It's so devastating to lose a pet. They are such a part of the family

@Mrs.Lilac: So sorry that it seems like your condition is escalating and that you'll have to be induced . I was induced for liver issues (due to pre-e, not cholestasis) as a first time mom at 36 weeks and had a fairly quick and easy induction and vaginal delivery. Of course safety is key, but hopefully you can have a vaginal delivery if it's important to you!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@Adira: Yeah - I never had a cervical check last time until they started my induction. With this pregnancy I've had almost constant BH contractions so that's why she checked me the first time. This week she checked me because my BP was so high she thought they might have to induce.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@MrsF: Ohh, I guess that makes sense! Maybe mine would check too if they had a specific reason.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
Well that was easy - just called TRU and they're issuing a reshipment for me.

@Mrs.Lilac: oh wow. I hope your blood work doesn't get worse so you can hold off till 37 weeks.

@Adira: I don't think gets it yet. I was at work when it all went happened- Dh was home with LO. Dh had mil come over to watch B so he could take care of the dog.

@josina: Target is great! I recently used the registry discount to order a TON of stuff and then also returned a TON of stuff and everything was done without any hassle! It's just that they tend to break up the order and ship in many small shipments so I feel like I get SO much stuff!
@cheert16: Noo I would be a mess if my dog died only weeks before my due date! I am so sorry for your loss. It sucks to have this happening now
@FaithFertility: Uh, I've only been freaking out for the longest time! I freaked out even worse after birthing class. I'm like you; sometimes I'm okay with it, excited to meet her, and can't wait to get her out and other times I think about everything that can happen and get so nervous. I have zero pain tolerance, never had surgery, never even had my wisdom teeth out...!
@Mrs.Lilac: Yes, both of your health & safety are the most important thing. You are in my thoughts & prayer. You will be so happy with her in your arms at the end of it all!
@Adira: Oh good!

@Mrs.Lilac: I'm so sorry you are facing an early induction. I know plenty of first time moms who had inductions with vaginal delivery though. Please keep us posted!

@winniebee: Oh, bummer. Well I'm glad the rest of your furniture is in!!
@Adira: What the hell!? I don't understand people, sometimes That really sucks. On the plus side, I've always had pretty good experiences with bigger stores dealing with those types of issues. I imagine if you contact them they'll resend the items.
@josina: Oh man, 3cm and 70% effaced already! Wow. I'll keep my fingers crossed that baby stays in there! I know women walk around fairly dilated and it doesn't always mean labor is imminent. If I were you, though, I'd try to get all my ducks in a row just in case!
pomegranate / 3045 posts
@Mrs.Lilac: I'm really sorry to hear that about your liver, and it sucks you can't have the birth you wanted. You're right, though, that you need to get that babe out safe and healthy! And it's good they're waiting until 37 weeks (hopefully) to induce - she'll cook for a little longer, which is great. I'm sorry, though - I know that must be super disappointing.
eggplant / 11861 posts
@snowjewelz: YES!!! Me either! I havenever had an surgery or my wisdom teeth out....ahhhhhh....lol I think it was the hosputal tour that really got me! Seeing the bed IV machine and such. ....
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@FaithFertility: Yep, I remember staring at the bed in one of the L&D rooms thinking, "man, soon I'm gonna be giving birth on one of these..." And then my knees kinda got weak
It's just impossible to prepare b/c everyone has a different labor & birth experience... Sometimes I'm optimistic, and others I imagine going through all the worst case scenarios!

@cheert16: Aww, I'm so sorry about your dog! I would be a messif mine passed away.
@Mrs.Lilac: I'm sorry you aren't getting the birth that you wanted. Hopefully you'll be able to avoid the c section!
@FaithFertility: I'm not really nervous about it yet, I'm more excited! I'll probably start to get nervous as we get closer though!
I asked my doctor if I could opt out of the cervical checks since they aren't totally necessary and they are kind of painful. He said that as long as I wasn't contracting, he wouldn't check!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@FaithFertility: @snowjewelz: I am totally squeamish and hate blood and needles. Like want to vomit at the site. But I was totally (surprisingly) fine during labor. Just don't use the mirror down there!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@winniebee: oh yeah there is nooo way I'm looking!
@whenoceansrise: That's good that you asked! I stopped getting cervix checks, I forget at how many weeks. They were never painful but it's just a pain to undress and then the clean-up.. I kinda just want to be in denial in case I am somewhat dilated haha!
Btw, besides DH I always thought my mom would be there w/ my during delivery. Turns out she doesn't want to be lol! She said she'll freak out if I scream bloody murder. But apparently my sister is up for it; she wants to be there for "educational purposes" (she's younger)
nectarine / 2053 posts
@snowjewelz: I don't want to know either! Plus I know that it's possible for you to not be dilated at all and go into labor.
I've thought about if I wanted my mom in the delivery room with me, but I think I just want DH. That will be a neat experience for your sister though!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@snowjewelz: I thought I'd want my mom there during labor, but she ended up being sick and couldn't come, and now I'm glad she wasn't there. It was nice just having it be me and Hubs!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@whenoceansrise: I'm not sure she knows what she's getting herself into I really just hope my water breaks so it's a clear sign for me to go to the hospital!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: And oh, just a whole bunch of strangers in the room staring at your cooch too.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@snowjewelz: Honestly, those people didn't bother me one bit! When you're in labor and you're in pain, you don't seem to care a crap about the doctors and nurses checking you out! I think I would've been more uncomfortable had my mom been there - I don't want her seeing that!
