I think everything, like self consciousness, goes out the window during labor. I was so concentrated on pushing, I didn't think about anything else.

Haha yeah I can totally see myself not caring about ANYTHING at that point. The president can be standing there for all I know

Have you guys gotten your "going home outfit"? I'm almost done with ours. I just ordered Freshly Picked crib mocs to wear with it.. It's so freaking cute... I die... I'll post once I get the shoes! Anyone else want to share what they have chosen?

@Mrs.Lilac: Sorry to hear about your liver issues and change of plans! I don't think I'd want to know at all about stillbirth issues after 38 weeks, esp. since it's a non-issue at 37 right? Best of luck!!

The cervical check didn't hurt at all, and I guess I'm glad she checked so I have that warning. I am scrambling today to get things in order at work. If I could make it to Monday it would be ideal - obviously for baby, but then I'd have a couple more days to train AND can be off until Jan. 1st without using any non-paid days off.
BUT, today I'm feeling super crampy in my stomach, so now I'm wondering if it's labor related, or if I'm making it all up in my head because I know he could be coming so soon!

My dr. told me that my hospital has a policy where any babys pre-37 weeks will automatically go to NICU, I'm not sure if that means they go just for observation and can come right back out, or if they keep them to 37 weeks? I don't want to leave the hospital without my baby boy. But I'll try not to think about it till we're for sure going!

Def. didn't think I'd be the first one to delivery though I do have an early-December date! Craziness.

@snowjewelz: I love the multiple packages from Target. Feels like Christmas!

@josina: I highly doubt they would keep a child in the NICU except for observation. It's expensive for a child to be in the NICU if it's not necessary.

@josina: Hopefully you can find out for sure about NICU once you're there. Until then, don't worry! I think maybe the cramps are coming from stress of suddenly realizing you're going to give birth soon? I can't believe the births are starting to happen!

@BandDmommy: I have a going home outfit, but it's nothing special. Just something I liked from Carter's. And I actually got two because Xander was a big baby and I'm not sure how big this one will be, so I have a NB outfit and a 3 month outfit! Here are the two outfits I got. I really just wanted something that came with hats, haha.

@josina: I don't think they keep babies in the NICU any longer than they have to!! So hopefully even if yours comes early, it's a short stay in the NICU!

@josina: my friend just had her baby a tad bit shy of 37 weeks and I want to say he was in the NICU for a day for observation.

Okay, I'm giving official notice the December momma's bodies and babies: Stop trying to be November babies!

@josina: I hope you can delay as long as possible before birth.

@Mrs.Lilac: I hope you are moved to your new home and can come to peace with your change in plans. Good to remember the end goal is healthy baby, arrival time and method are certainly always up in the air.

@BandDmommy: We have a pair of pajamas from Carters that C picked out or a pair from Gymboree. I just ordered a hat from etsy that doesn't match either one. I'm going for comfort and ease Call me tired and worn out

@MamaG: HA, I was just thinking the same thing! Stay in there, babies!!

    @Adira: Those are so cute!

@BandDmommy: Is it weird I don't really care about the going home outfit?? Ha. I just want him to be warm enough, so I am bringing two warm sleepers (size nb and size 0-3 mo). It's so hard not knowing how big he'll be! I imagine he'll be fine in nb, but who knows.

@MamaG: Oh, I need to get some little hats!

  14. winniebee

@josina: I think it's common for the baby to go to the nicu for 24 hours if born before 37 weeks to monitor closely and then if all is fine release to normal care. Try to take it easy!!

Oooh also re cervical checks. They hurt like a bitch the earlier on you are Bc your cervix is high and closed. Towards the end and labor not so much.becuse it's much lower and softer.

I got Baby boy a velour striped footed piece from Janie and Jack over the summer in size preemie. Im glad I did Bc J and J seems to have discontinued their preemie sizes! T wore it going home from the hospital and it was still enormous on him. It's going to be cold here so I wanted something warm and cozy.

@winniebee: J & J has such cute footies! Glad you were able to snag one in preemie.

@Adira: Love the outfits! I have a Carters blue onesie with little footballs (and a matching hat) and then a 2 piece outfit... I think I read somewhere about dressing them in pants/shirts so that the umbilical cord isn't covered up? Is that a non-issue though? (the onesie is cuter)

  18. MamaG

    pomelo / 5298 posts

@josina: I actually feel like pants would be more uncomfortable on the cord. But that's just my assumption on thing and we kept C in mostly things without a waist until her cord fell off. I intend to do the same this go round as well.

@josina: I have no idea! We put Xander in a pj set when we brought him home from the hospital and it didn't seem an issue! I was planning on doing the same with this baby.

@josina: I get my first cervical check tomorrow so I'm a little nervous.

If one more person tells me I am so big I'm not going to make it to December I may lose my min d! Some randomly lady on the street today said "with that look on your face you are going to go into labor today".

Ugh, it's 8 pm. Final countdown till LO goes to sleep. DH is working late (shocker) and I'm exhausted. I slept AWFUL last night.

@magnolia: Ugh, I've been getting that for weeks, so I feel you!!!! People are jerks.

@BandDmommy: Sorry!! I hate it when Hubs works late or goes out after work and I'm on evening duty all night long. It's even worse on the weekend when I'm home with Xander all day - my patience is shot by the end of the day! I don't envy you!

@winniebee: I think it's the combo of a 2 year old and 2 spoiled dogs. Momma needs a break...

I just had a total freak out about what to do when I go in labor if DH is at work and I'm alone with B. Aghhhh I need a paper bag to breathe into...

At OB apt yesterday I measured at 37 weeks I am 34 and 3 days yesterday! She wasn't to whoo on it but said next apt Nov 18th if I'm still.measuring 2 1/2 3 weeks ahead she wants an ultrasound to see how big baby is and also measure fluid!! Ewwkkk?!?! What does fluid tell you?

  31. winniebee

    hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts

@BandDmommy: you call him and he races home! How far away does he work? That's what I'm doing. It will be rather tricky if my husband is in the middle of a surgery though. Best not to think about these things!

  32. winniebee

    hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts

@FaithFertility: wow! They measure fluid to make sure that you have enough for the baby. Also, could just mean that you are measuring big Bc you have a lot of fluid!

  33. FaithFertility

    eggplant / 11861 posts

@winniebee: Right, I've been measuring a week ahead but 3.....lol My mom is so funny I told her and she goes ohhh you tell those MW she is just big and healthy leave my grandbaby alone.....lol typical mom!

  34. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@FaithFertility: Eeeek!!! Crazy how ahead you're measuring!! And I think they measure fluid just to make sure you have a safe amount for the baby, although maybe they think you might be measuring big because you have lots of fluid? I don't even know how any of that works.

  35. FaithFertility

    eggplant / 11861 posts

@Adira: Me either is too much fluid bad? She really didn't tell me much?!?..lol

  36. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@FaithFertility: I wouldn't really think too much fluid would be bad... but I don't really know! I'm guessing you don't really have to be too concerned. I was measuring big with my first and had a growth ultrasound that just confirmed I was having a big baby. They didn't even mention the fluid - I guess it was all normal? Maybe you get to have a big baby like I did.

@FaithFertility: I found this on high amniotic fluid
    http://www.babycenter.com/0_excessive-amniotic-fluid-polyhydramnios_1200199.bc

We had a friend that had this and she was monitored more closely during the last bit of her pregnancy.

@BandDmommy: that is kinda scary! Lord I pray she is just abig baby girl and healthy!!!!!!

  39. BandDmommy

    pomelo / 5660 posts

@FaithFertility: it looks pretty rare. I have a friend that was measuring large but she just found out she has GD.

@MamaG: @Adira: That makes more sense (no pants), so I'll stick with the sleep & play! Much cuter anyways. Now that baby may be here sooner I want to so bad to go shopping for more baby outfits!

@BandDmommy: My dh works as a construction foreman on a job right now an hour away from home, which happens to be 2 hours from the hospital. He just asked yesterday though to be kept closer to home so that's good! I'd hate to have to worry about him not being able to make it (although I doubt that would happen).
