@whenoceansrise: You just described how I'm feeling today!! I can't decide if it's morning sickness or just sickness. Let me know what you decide!!

Is anyone else craving things they shouldn't have? All I want right now is a sub from Subway. That's all.

@whenoceansrise: oh no! I hope it's just a one time thing!

So I had my 8 week scan and they took 10 vials of blood for all kinds of tests. My blob/shrimp upgraded to a gummy bear! I can see the head & the nubs that are hands/feet. It was wiggling which was creepy! I felt like it was "looking" straight at us!

**** I have the NT and some sequential test in 2 weeks at another lab, and then my 12 week appt is on 6/4! ****

@snowjewelz: Yay!! I got about 4 vials the other day at the doctor. I was so dizzy afterward I couldn't go to work. It didn't help that they had to stick me twice. For some reason they always struggle finding my veins, which is weird because I'm pale and have thin arms.

@MRSJX3: Yikes! It's definitely no fun. I'm going to say morning sickness just because it went away once I ate something. I hope you feel better!
@snowjewelz: Aww, what a lovely picture!

@whenoceansrise: I'm glad you feel better!! I just ate and it seems to be somewhat helping too.

@whenoceansrise: my trick is to have a snack right by the bed

@littlek: I did keep some pretzels next to my bed, but my dog ate them. hahaha

@littlek: I got poked twice when I went for my first visit last month. The woman took the tourniquet off my arm when she started the 2nd vial (needed 6 total) and lost the flow. My veins like to hide, so not fun.

@whenoceansrise: Haha I can't leave food by my bed because of my dog either.

@whenoceansrise: @AngelicOne: Luckily not an issue here. I have a chihuahua, Pedro and pomeranian Templeton. Together they weigh 10 pounds.

I had my first prenatal appt yesterday! They did a vaginal US and I got to see my little grain of rice had a heartbeat!! Its a little early to hear it yet, but it made me so happy to see it was beating! My next appt is 5/28 and she said we should be able to hear the heartbeat on the Doppler then. Yay! It made all of the nausea and exhaustion even more worth it!

The only thing I don't really get, is that according to size on the US, they say the baby is 6w 6d and according to opks I thought it was potentially 6w 4d... I know that is only two day difference but Im just not sure how that would be different if I know when I ovulated... is it based on implantation maybe? If this has already been covered in a previous post, I apologize, I haven't had a chance to catch up yet.

@littlek: Aww. I have a 50lb Mini Australian Shepherd that sleeps with us. He has his own spot(s) on our bed. lol

@littlek: Me too The last few times they took blood t hey had to take it from my hands and it took forever. This time, they were determined to get my vein in my arm, otherwise I would've been there for hours! Luckily these nurses were pretty skillful. I've def had worse experiences!

@whenoceansrise: Hahaha your dog must have been a happy camper!

@Brawly: Yay! So glad you got to hear the heartbeat!!

  13. littlek

    GOLD / squash / 13576 posts

@Brawly: yay for heartbeat! I don't think it matters if it is a few days ahead or behind, it's really just an estimate and there is some degree of error. My doctor doesn't change your EDD unless it's more than a week off.

    @snowjewelz: awesome ultrasound!

@Brawly: glad you had a good appt! I think measuring ahead or behind a few days is common. I bet they just keep your due date as is. I'm behind my lmp by 4 days so I'm not sure what my doc will go by in the end.

@Adira: I had a bump pretty early and recognizable to people I didn't know around 16 wks. I am guessing I will look fully pregnant by 12 wks this time and I'm fine with that.

    persimmon / 1328 posts

@Adira: I am pretty much just going with it already. I didn't try to hide my bump much with #1, but it took a lot longer to show up than this time (I am pretty sure I look closer to how I was at 16-18 weeks before now at 7 weeks).

@whenoceansrise: I felt the exact same way yesterday! It is still around a little today, but not as bad. DH was actually worried that something bad was happening with baby and wanted me to POAS again to make him feel better. I never felt this way with #1, so this is all new to me.

@MRSJX3: I keep craving things, get them, then my stomach turns as I try to eat it But a Subway sub sounds pretty fantastic! It could be fine if you get it toasted.

@MRSJX3: My drs office told me lunch meat from the deli was fine, but not the prepackaged stuff.

@snowjewelz: Yay for a cute gummy bear!

@AngelicOne: Really? That's interesting! I'm going to have to ask. I'm still so early that I don't have an appointment for another two weeks.

@MRSJX3: Yeah I was surprised at what all she said was okay to do/eat.
-I can dye/highlight my hair (if done in good ventilation)
-I can eat lunch meat from the deli
-I can eat soft cheeses (like feta & such since US cheese is pasteurized)
-I can eat 2 cans of tuna everyday (not that I've ever thought about doing that lol)

@AngelicOne: Thank you so much!!! That is really nice to hear!!

@MrsScallop: my first pregnancy I would feel better after I ate something. Things are so different this time. I'll totally crave something and by the time I get it to my house it sounds awful. Or if I take a few bites I realize it's totally turning my stomach. Makes me think this baby has all kinds of food issues...I really hope not but it definitely makes me wonder

@sandy: Glad I'm not the only one! My poor husband keeps trying to get me food I can/will eat, then I just can't get it down. I felt so bad I teared up over mac n' cheese today! Ha!

@MrsScallop: I feel bad for my mom bc she'll make me something that I thought would sound good and I'll end up sending it back home with her.

I'm with you ladies on the food thing! I feel better if I eat something, but finding something that doesn't sound revolting is a huge challenge. For me, I can't eat anything creamy. So tart fruit is good. Yogurt, milk, cheese, eggs, etc I cannot eat. I'm getting a little concerned that I'm not getting enough nutrients. It also makes meal planning super hard! Gotta go to the grocery store tomorrow, for next week's meals. How am I supposed to know NOW what won't make me feel like vomiting tomorrow? Let alone 5 days from now.

I despise this part of pregnancy! I hope it's over soon.

@allison: I'm having the same exact problem. I can't plan out meals so we kind of have to take things day by day. I planned on cooking chicken & rice tonight & by dinnertime, it sounded horrible. Luckily DH humors me & finds something else to eat instead.

I am flying cross country with my 2 year old tomorrow. Hours hunting trip for our move in August. 2.5 hr drive, 4 he flight, then 1.25 hr flight. I can't wait for tomorrow to be over!!!! On the bright side I get to see my family and will tell them we are pregnant! They would guess in a heartbeat anyways with me not drinking and mah belly!
