@kodybear - I'm getting uncomfortable and toss and turn ALL night, I just can't find the right position to lay in. Round ligament pain off and on an sometimes it is so sharp it takes my breath away. I feel ya! Lucky that your nursery is almost finished.. I feel so far behind lol

@travelingbrit: It was great, thanks! It felt early to me, but my in-laws were already hosting a bridal shower in November and a baby one in October, so this was their preference. Everyone was so generous, but having a carseat, crib, high chair, etc. makes it feel so real! I'm both excited and scared

@kodybear: My back has started hurting in earnest. DH and I took a road trip babymoon last week, and it was awfully hard to get comfy. No cramps or anything at night yet though, so perhaps I should be counting my blessings!

@travelingbrit: how did the glucose test go? is the drink really gross? i'm gonna do mine next friday but i'm scared of failing!! i love sugar!

@kodybear: I have mine next Tuesday and I'm scared of failing too....I love my sweets! I don't even get to do the 1 hour test- they're sending me for the 3 hour one I think it's because there's a higher risk of GD with twins. Fingers crossed for the both of us!

The drink wasn't too bad actually. It tasted a lot like a british sports drink called Lucozade.
It was chilled so that helped, and I had 5 minutes to drink it.

I ate "healthily" the entire day, and then got a call an hour before my appointment to reschedule. Ugh. So I had to do the same thing the next day.

Baby kicked a lot afterwards, and I felt a tiny bit dizzy on the drive home but otherwise felt fine.

They told me they would call by Wednesday if I failed, otherwise I should assume I passed.

    Good luck with yours!

@littlehunny: oh man the 3 hr one sounds even more brutal. hope it goes well for both of us so we don't have to give up our sweets!! esp with halloween coming up...

@travelingbrit: okay i'm glad the drink isn't bad. haha. and that's annoying that they had you reschedule! did you just eat low sugar things? my dr said to eat normal but i feel like it could sway the results if i'm on the fence.

@kodybear: I avoided chocolate and white bread. Had a toaster strudel and a salad. Crossing my fingers.

Ladies, I failed my 1 hour screening test but it may be because I stupidly had sweet cereal (honey nut cheerios) and milk just before the test. The lady at the clinic told me that some people feel better (not as sick) if they eat something before drinking the sugar drink. I wish I'd just fasted instead.

I keep hearing conflicted things but I'd really try not to eat anything, and if you have to, don't have any refined carbs. Stick to whole wheat and protein, veggies, etc... It's such a shame to have to take the 3 hour test if it's not necessary (which I just had to do this morning). Also I heard it's good to keep moving, walk around between the drinking part and the blood test part because that can help level off your blood sugar level. I hope everyone passes, and doesn't have to go through another test!

Walking is a great way to drop your blood sugar. I'm a diabetic and mine was high last night. A 1 mile walk dropped it nearly 50 points. If you can walk after you drink your glucola, do it!

@gracecat: oh no! you have me worried now. I keep forgetting how many weeks you are?
I really hope the 3 hour goes well for you.
I'm hoping the toaster strudel I had before my test doesn't count against me.
Will know my results today or tomorrow.

    Good luck with your test!!!

Had my 1 hour test today and passed! I wasn't expecting instant results. Now to look forward to my next ultrasound in four weeks.

Good luck to those of you testing soon. I fasted in the morning and avoided sugar the day before to be on the safe side, but my doctor didn't require it.

I just got the news that I failed.
About to schedule the 3 hour test.

@gracecat: @travelingbrit: Oh no! Sorry girls! I'll keep my fingers crossed that the 3 hour's no problem. I don't have my test until my 28w checkup next week, but now I'm nervous! @rawrasaur: I'd heard I should eat something earlier that day, but I may follow your lead on this one...

@gracecat: Did you already take your 3- hour?

  15. gracecat

    clementine / 878 posts

@travelingbrit: Yup, I just took the three hour test yesterday morning. Since you have to fast you should schedule it for first thing in the morning so you can eat right after you leave the hospital.

I tried to move and walk around the whole time before each blood draw. I have been watching my sugar and carb intake and it has helped me not gain any weight this past week. This was an issue for me since I gained a lot already.

Good news! Passed the three hour test but it was a good scare. I will try to maintain my efforts to control my sugar and carb intake.

Ladies we are coming up on the third trimester!

@gracecat: yay thats awesome!! you girls all have me scared for this test! i'm taking it this thursday... crossing my fingers i pass the 1 hr one! gonna fast since i'm taking it first thing in the morning and probably cut down on sugar the day b4 (if i can help it...)

@travelingbrit: hope the 3 hr went well!!

our lab/clinic has changed the way glucose tests are done now. instead of a 1 hour test, it's a 2 hour test and everybody tests that way for that clinic. if you fail the 2 hour test, you fail and they won't do the 3 hour test. with my last child, I drank lots of water before the drink, and walking between the drink and test might have helped in passing, plus it helps pass the time.

Going for a 3D ultrasound today! Updated my blog and realized this would be my sixth ultrasound! Yikes

  25. kodybear

    pear / 1616 posts

@travelingbrit: yay how exciting!! its so cool how much a 3d ultrasound looks like the baby at this point! we're not doing one mostly cause we're team green and at this point, i'd probably ask what gender it was cause i'm so antsy!

update from me - took the 1 hr glucose test a week or so ago and passed! i took the advice from you guys and didn't eat much sugar the day before, took the test first thing in the morning before i ate, and kind of walked around during the test. haha i did NOT want to fail because going that one day without sugar was so hard! everything is looking good. i'm starting my every other week appointments now! crazyy how fast its going now. i still feel like i have so much to do but i don't know exactly what!

  26. wheres_c

    pomelo / 5789 posts

@kodybear: Yeah looking forward to seeing if we can make out any of his facial features.I bet now is the hardest part of team green! Congrats on the glucose test.

After tomorrow I will be starting my every other week appointments as well. There is so much to do and so little time.

@kakimochi: My office does the 2 hour test too! It's like the new thing or something from what I read...

I took my 2 hour test on Sat and it made me feel horrible afterwards! I felt hung over the whole day...I had to fast and then I guess that 5000 grams of sugar getting dumped into my system just took a toll. I don't know how long it'll take to get results....

@travelingbrit: Congrats on passing! I hope I passed...I didn't do anything special with my diet the day before and maybe I should have.

  28. wheres_c

    pomelo / 5789 posts

@jholler25: 2 hours? Ugh. Not fun! I'm sure you'll pass. I felt really hung over after taking my 1-hour but not so much after the 3 hour.

It took about 3 days for my results both times.

  29. PrincessBaby

    cantaloupe / 6610 posts

@travelingbrit: PS I called the u/s place and whatever package I bought last time, they said I don't qualify for the $39 revisit or whatever:( Have fun at yours today!!! Did you do 3D last time too?

How many of you are officially insomniatic now? I get so tired lately, but when I lay down, I can't breathe because uterus and baby are on my diaphragm. My dr said to start sleeping propped upright. That is SUPER fun let me tell you. Especially on my side! So it's really hard to get comfortable and be able to breathe at the same time! Also I started getting really hot at night lately...We usually sleep with the a/c on 72 but I had it on 70 last night and I could feel perspiration under my arms!

So I'm just a big ball of pregnancy fun! I think I fell asleep around 1:45am finally and got up at 6:30am.

  30. MaisyMay

    GOLD / cantaloupe / 6703 posts

@jholler25: I'm having issues right now, but that's because I have a cold on top of being pregnant. I can still sleep fairly comfortable on my back/side but woke up this morning with a numb hip, so that might be coming to an end soon too.

  31. wheres_c

    pomelo / 5789 posts

@jholler25 Yeah we did the 3d last time too. Didn't really see much of anything, but mom was paying and she wanted to see so I figured sure why not.
I wrote on your wall about prenatal massage..have you been? can you recommend anywhere?

I've also become an insomniac but surprisingly I am not super tired despite the lack of sleep. Pre-pregnancy I would have never been able to survive on 5-6 hours of sleep, or wake up before my alarm. Now I fall asleep around 12 or 1, wake up a million times during the night and then wake up at 6.15 before my alarm.

Are you using a pregnancy pillow? I found it helped a little.

I have been really hot at night too. Usually our AC is around 75, but I keep sneaking it down to 70 as well. SO doesnt like it so cold because he says he will get sick and its too expensive, so I have to turn it down in secret.

Baby didn't cooperate at the ultrasound and kept his back to us the entire time. Will go back next week and try again.

How much weight has everyone gained so far?
I'm a little worried because at 28 weeks I've only gained 11lbs. MY doctor doesn't seem worried, but I have a feeling it's on the low side.

  34. gracecat

    clementine / 878 posts

Ummm... Whats your secret?! I gained around 22 pounds or more already!! I wouldn't worry as long as baby is measuring on track for weight and gestational age.

  35. littlehunny

    cherry / 231 posts

@travelingbrit: I've gained 20lbs at 27 weeks, but there's 2 in there. At my last appointment they told me I'm measuring the same as someone with a single baby at 35 weeks- Yikes! My midwife doesn't weigh me though and is more concerned that I'm eating a good variety of food and exercising. If your doctor isn't concerned then you are right where you should be

  36. PrincessBaby

    cantaloupe / 6610 posts

I had gained around 15lbs at 26 weeks. I think. I don't really know what my exact prepreg weight was because I was avoiding the scale after putting on a few pounds Jan-March with my 2 early miscarriages.

Now I'm 29 weeks so I'm guessing 18-20? If I could stay around 30lbs total I would be ecstatic!

  37. oahujeni

    kiwi / 629 posts

@travelingbrit - I wouldn't be concerned if your doctor isn't. I'm 26 weeks and have only gained 9lbs. I was worried but she said the baby is measuring perfect and he's even tracking a bit on the bigger side. I eat and eat but can't put the weight on. Why can't I have this problem when I'm NOT pregnant?!

  38. PrincessBaby

    cantaloupe / 6610 posts

@travelingbrit: Hi! I wrote you a reply to your wall but I guess it didn't post? I just went back and looked when I saw that you had asked me about it here...I don't know what happened with that!

I don't know of a place that does the belly cut-out massages...I did one of the places that makes you lie on your side and it did not help and I was not impressed. So if you find a belly cut out place, let me know!!

  39. wheres_c

    pomelo / 5789 posts

@gracecat no secret. I've read though that if you start heavier you gain less weight, so thinking thats it. For dinner yesterday I had chips and salsa, texas cheese fries and an icecream.

@littlehunny I didn't realize you were having twins! How exciting! It seems like you are on the lower end of the weight gain scale too. It's reassuring to hear your MW isn't concerned.

@jholler25 It sounds like you're right on track for a healthy weight gain. The stuff I was reading says 17-24 lbs is about average for 28-29 weeks.

@oahujeni Thanks for the reassurance, it makes me feel better knowing I'm not the only one. I keep eating and eating and don't seem to be gaining. I definitely never had that problem before I was pregnant.

I guess my anxiety is elevated lately. I'm anxious about everything, weight gain, baby movement, twinges of pain here or there, wondering when baby will arrive, being afraid of PTL, worried about having to be induced/c-section, worried about work and wishing my days were shorter.

I just could do with a vacation for a few days!
It's beginning to seem real now, and not too far away.

Do we have a list somewhere of due dates and genders?

  40. mrsmenow

    persimmon / 1479 posts

@travelingbrit: I am 26 w 4d and am still negative weight. Last month was the first month I started gaining weight back that I had lost in the first timester (lost 12 lbs, and have gained 4 lbs back). My doctor isn't concerned, this is how I have been in my other 2 pregnancies. I just was so sick and my metabolism really speeds up, I just can't get enough calories in it seems like, but it will catch up at the end.
