December due dates?

@travelingbrit: I am so sorry - I would feel the EXACT same way! DH and I had a long distance relationship, and when we moved to the same city, I was about to come out of my skin wanting him to propose so that I would feel....validated? I guess? That I had been through so much with him in a LDR and then moving away from my family to be with him- as hard as it is to wait for an engagement, I think waiting for "validation" to know you're 1000% laying down the groundwork for your life together is 1000% harder. I knew he loved me, and we talked and looked at rings, and I knew he wanted to marry me, but until he proposed, it was ALL I thought about, just NEEDING it to happen so bad to "complete" things.
So I think about how I felt back then, and how I'd feel if I was this pregnant at the same time, and I would be just as emotional about it as you are! I'm sure that being engaged to him would kind of validate things for you too, even though you know it's going to happen and that he loves you. You still "need" the ring. That is exactly how I would feel. Especially going through such tough days being pregnant!

I am sure that he will give you a fabulous proposal, and I really hope it's everything you dreamed of and is worth all that you've been through:) I ended up kind of giving up the surprise....I had wanted the same thing too- the dream proposal...But I was so obsessed with it and pushed him to look at rings, then I found my dream ring at JR Dunn here in Lighthouse Point, so then he bought it, and long story short, it took a lot of the surprise out of it because I couldn't wait! The ring had to be sent to Tacori to be set and sized and it was basically understood that as soon as it came in, he would propose. He did bring me to the beach for sunrise mimosas on a blanket, and proposed while the sun came up. But it was not a surprise:) I guess I got to a point where I needed the ring/proposal/validation more than the surprise. But I hope that you get it all- ring/proposal/validation/surprise:) You deserve it for sure!

@PrincessBaby: Thank you as well for sharing your story! Even though you may not have had the surprise it sounds like he' s head over heels for you and will do whatever it takes to make you happy. A sunrise proposal sounds very romantic.

So and I were also LD for awhile - We met when I was living in England and he was living in SoFla so I moved across the ocean to give our relationship a chance. That was over 3 years ago.

Most of the time I'm ok - like you said I now it's going to happen and that he loves me. It's just getting tough with all the preggers hormones and I'm really torn between the needing the validation vs needing a memorable proposal.
Hopefully he'll come up with something soon that will fix both and I won't ruin it this time.

Had my shower yesterday. Really small turnout but was lots of fun. Beautiful Cake. Didn't realize I had gotten so big until I saw the photos. My face and arms even look puffy!

@travelingbrit: you do look so happy!! you definitely have that pregnancy "glow"!! beautiful! and that cake does look really yummy.

just got back from my growth scan. baby is measuring pretty much on target. alittle smaller than average (36-42 percentile) about 5.5 lbs (+/- 1 lb they said... haha not an accurate measure for sure). But they think the reason my bump is smaller is cause the baby is really low. i'm still about 2 cm off on my fundal height. but after seeing the baby i know everything is good! thursday is 1 month till my due date! i so hope i don't go over 40 weeks, i'll be miserable and crabby for sure. but i also don't want to be induced. what a dilemma. hoping for a 39 ish week delivery!

hope everyone else is doing well!

@kodybear Sounds like you had a great growth scan! At my last scan, the baby was about 4 pounds and in the 27th percentile (up from the 23rd three weeks earlier). So definitely on the smaller end, but still growing and that's what matters! Are you going to have another growth scan in the next month? I have one next week and I'm not sure if that will be the last one or not.

DH and I went to Buy Buy Baby last night for a registry completion event where anything we purchased (even items not on the registry) was 20% off. It was a total madhouse - the store was understaffed and every square inch was a traffic jam of cranky, hormonal, heavily pregnant women pushing enormous carts around - but it was worth it to get the 20% off on our splurge items like the Motorola video monitor and the UPPAbaby stroller. I'm feeling more prepared, gear-wise, as each week passes.

Besides the HB ladies, 1 of my coworkers and 2 out of state friends are also due the same week as me.

One of my out of state friends had her baby last night! She was due 12-14-12. YIKES!
That means any of us could have our babies any day!!!!!!!!

@travelingbrit: wow! Early baby!!!! Im afraid of going into labor early since I'm always lifting/carrying my toddler.. Hopefully all of our babies will bake for as long as possible!

Having a bad day today. Fell crossing a major street at work. Luckily cars stopped so they wouldnt hit me while I was lying in the street, but no-one stopped to ask if I was ok. I hurt my hands and knees and am shaken up but otherwise I'm alright.
Decided to call it a day and work from home this afternoon.

@MsInformation: I think that will probably be my first/last growth scan since they didn't mention anything about checking again altho i'd love to see baby again!

@travelingbrit: oh no!! i hope you and the baby are doing okay!! glad you are able to be at home to rest up!

i might head home early today too. i got the flu shot and TDAP vaccine yesterday and im feeling really crappy today! and my arms hurt! blah

  17. PrincessBaby

    cantaloupe / 6610 posts

@travelingbrit: omg! I am so sorry you fell!!! Aren't people here such dicks? I'm surprised the cars didn't honk at you or something as you lay in the street, hurt & 9 mos pregnant! It doesn't surprise me one bit that no one helped you or checked on you! That is one big reason I can't stand SoFlo! It's the asshole capital of the world- everyone so self-absorbed. Where I am from, someone would have stopped their car, while someone else stopped traffic, and they would have helped you up and out if harm's way and made sure you were okay! I'm glad you decided to just work from home!

@MsInformation: That is so awesome they let you use 20% off on the UBV! They're so picky about coupons with high-end stuff! Which color did you get? We got the Mica/silver and I love it! I really loved the pink, as did DH which surprised me, but we went gender-neutral so that if we have a boy for #2, he won't get pushed around in a bright pink stroller:)

@kodybear: Yay for baby measuring well! I am with you on not really wanting to be induced. I am set for a Dec 2nd induction (when they'll start cervadil) which means she'll be here Dec 3rd or 4th, but I'm REALLY trying to talk her into coming on her own before that so we can avoid the big long induction process:)

This upcoming week is my last full week of work. Then the 3 days before Thanksgiving are home office days for me- to wrap up all of my administrative stuff like expense reports.

I can't get over how much my belly has grown in the past few weeks...With 3 weeks left to go until induction, I just dont know HOW I can get any bigger! When I sit, it just feels so tight in there!

I get my first internal check Friday at my 37wk appt. I have had no cramps or pressure or anything, so I'm expecting for the dr to tell me I'm totally closed up:(

Happy weekend, ladies! We're all getting so close!

  18. MsInformation

    apricot / 263 posts

@PrincessBaby We actually got the UB Cruz, - still a great deal at 20% off! I liked all of the color options, so I let DH pick and he opted for red. I would have had a hard time resisting the pink stroller too!

My in-laws are visiting this weekend and they had wanted to be surprised by the baby's sex, so we had kept them in the dark even though everyone else knows we're having a girl. Unfortunately, I accidentally blabbed this weekend! It was just so hard to keep it a secret. I was browsing on Zulily and got distracted and said something about "girly things," then clapped my hand over my mouth, so it was really obvious. I felt horrible about ruining the surprise after having done so well for 35 weeks (monitoring my Facebook, keeping one of our two registries gender neutral, etc.), but my MIL was so thrilled about having a granddaughter (there's not a lot of girls on her side of the family) that I think all was forgiven. DH says it makes a good story in any case, and it's better she heard it directly than via Facebook or something.

@MsInformation: Are you kidding me?! I would NEVER be able to keep it a secret. Kudos for you for doing so for so long. Amazing...

Ladies, we are getting so close (me in particular, being due the first week of December), but I don't understand how baby or belly could possibly get any bigger. How is everyone feeling?

One unexpected side effect was how my hands feel like I have arthritis in the mornings. Apparently it's due to swelling (edema) but it's still really weird. I'd never heard of this stiffness in the hands before I got it. I've also noticed I'm not as ravenously hungry and I can't stuff in as much food as I used to be able to last week! This is somewhat good since I don't need to gain anymore weight and baby is measuring big already.

I can't stop shopping for cute baby clothes! Someone needs to take away my credit card.

Is anyone having long term visitors or family come and stay with them after baby is born? I'm having parents stay with us for a week, and then my sister stay for a week. We live in FL and I never even THOUGHT about sickness, but I've started to get freaked out. I started this thread:
    http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/did-you-have-lots-of-visitors-right-after-baby-was-born-and-were-you-worried-about-germssickness?replies=17#post-392807

And everyone recommends long-term visitors getting the Whooping cough (tdap) vaccine and the flu shot. Are you guys going to make your guests who stay more than a couple of days get vaccinated? I feel like a beeotch telling my family, especially those with no insurance, that they need to be vaccinated!

  21. chopsuey

    hostess / wonderful honeydew / 32460 posts

@PrincessBaby: I had my mom stay with me for 2 weeks after LO was born and we had quite a few guests come and go.
I didn't make anyone get vaccinated though. As long as they weren't sick and washed their hands they were free to visit!

If there's an outbreak of whooping cough in your area I would definitely make sure everyone's vaccinated though. As for the flu shot, it's a good idea for people to get it anyway.

This time around my sister's visiting for about 10 days and my mom will be here for at least 3 weeks. I'm not too concerned about them getting vaccinated though. Shoot. I haven't even gotten my flu shot yet.. LO and I have been sick so we haven't had the opportunity! Hopefully we'll get to it before baby boy arrives next month.

  22. gracecat

    clementine / 878 posts

@PrincessBaby: Besides us, we are asking my MIL to get a flu shot since she is planning on staying w/ us for aound 1 week when baby is only a few weeks old. Also asking my mom to get a flu shot as she lives nearby and is going to have a lot of contact w/ baby. I don't think it's unreasonable for you to ask guests who will stay over to get vaccinated when your baby is still such a newborn, I think it's better safe than sorry and I'm sure your guests will understand. Newborns have so little immunity! We haven't decided yet whether to insist everyone get whooping cough vaccines though, but I will definitely get one ASAP and will insist on any in home caregivers getting it.

@chopsuey119: @gracecat: I can't decide if I'm over-reacting or not! Especially in the case of someone like my Dad, who doesn't have insurance and (due to their tight finances) I will be paying for him to get vaccinated. I don't know about my sister yet...I know she has insurance but I don't know if those vaccines are covered and she is flat-broke so I hope they are!

If they all had the same insurance I do, with really great coverage, I wouldn't think twice! But I kind of wonder if I'm being ridiculous because they're already spending so much to come here (plane tix), and then I'm adding medical costs on top of that....

I haven't talked to any of them about it yet....But it should be very interesting when I do!

@gracecat: I'm with you both on the big baby, and with the weird arthritis hand symptoms. I cant even open/close my right hand when I wake up in the morning. It is so bizzare.

I don't feel guilty asking my fam to get the Tdap. When dad grumbled about the price, I offered to pay.

@travelingbrit: Have a great day off from work! I have to tell myself every night when I get dressed for work only x amount of more times to do this. I am down to 11!

Had my 34 weeks checkup yesterday. My MD and I mostly talked about when we thought the baby would come and what his vacation/holiday schedule lookes like. We are getting so close.

I am spending the day getting a few Christmas presents (hopefully getting them wrapped during DD's nap) and shopping for carpet for our basement. We are so close to having it finished we just need carpet and to finish the bar. We really want to have it done before the end of the month!

Went to the perinatologist for the last time. Everything is progressing well.

Had my first internal exam today. Closed like a clam, or "an Olsen" as you will. Doctor doesn't expect anything to happen this week.

@PrincessBaby: I'm glad it seems like everything worked out with the tdap family issue! i actually didn't know much about it until my dr asked if i wanted to vaccine a week ago! (btw that shot hurt so bad! i was sore for days with body aches!) ideally i would've asked my family to get it to, but being chinese (okay this is a stereotypical statement...) my family like never goes to the dr unless we're like really sick. so i doubt they'd go and get the vaccine. hopefully me getting it will be enough for the little baby.

@travelingbrit: my doc won't do an internal until 38-39 weeks!! haha i'm curious but i know if i was somewhat dilated itd probably just make me more anxious.

@highwire: i totally snoop the nov boards too. can't wait to see more baby announcements from the nov mamas!!

feeling really cramped lately! definitely can't eat as much as i want to and i feel like my skin is being stretched to the limit. and baby's foot is like permanently lodged in my right ribs. my last days at work are next week, then i'm just going to work from home until the due date (or earlier if baby makes an early appearance). omg i can't believe its almost time!! can't wait to see who the first dec mama will be!

Also, stretch marks finally decided to surprise me here in week 37. Given my genes, I wasn't shocked, but I was starting to get cautiously optimistic.

@rattles: gah! Stretch marks have been on my mind as I've read a lot of peeps on here get them after week 37 or 38. I have been paranoid and upped my Mama Mio oil rubdowns to 3x a day. But I know that probably wont help if they're going to get me!!!

@PrincessBaby: I'll keep my fingers crossed that you're luckier than I! I'd been using shea/cocoa butter a few times a day since about June and drinking tons of water. I think they'd bug me less if they were at least symmetrical, but what can you do. The hubs claims to dig them and is calling me Stretch Armstrong and talking about how tough I am. I'm grateful for the love/pity, ha.

I already had a few stretch marks (from gaining 60 lbs after surgery 10 years ago.)
I've been using cocoa butter every day, but still gained a few stretch marks. Luckily though they are skin colored and not the angry red/purple.
