Haha, I'll have to clean LO's room before I take pictures later. She's napping right now.

I haven't even started to think nurseries yet! When we know the gender I'll get into it. I have a bunched pinned from when I was pregnant with B though.

I love seeing what other people have in mind for their nursery! We're going gender neutral, probably aqua/mint, gray and yellow. If it ends up being a girl we'll add a few pops of pink or coral.

@Aria: I'm LOVING those pictures! If I have a boy I'm totally thinking of going a mint and yellow route.

We're not going to paint, since we live in a rental, but I mentioned our woodland creatures/gnome theme before. These are the prints and mobile from Etsy that are our inspiration!

@HeartAbandoned: I looooove the Super Boy/Girl prints! And you have great color schemes.

@HeartAbandoned: I love the navy and orange for a boy!
@loopedd: Those prints are too cute!

@heartabandoned: @Aria: loving the mint/turquoise! I'm also thinking that with some coral or pink if it's a girl, but we'll see! Not sure about what colors for a boy yet?

We picked out our new hardwood floor and the wall color for the nursery today! It feels like such a big step! The wall color is gender neutral, and I'm thinking I'll add some coral or purple or magenta if it's a girl, and brown and/or navy if it's a boy!
The paint color is called "Brown Buzz" by Valspar (at Lowe's), and it's a muted olive-y green. The flooring is by Somerset and is solid red oak in a finish called "Mystic."

@HeartAbandoned: I should've looked here before I commented on the other thread! That floor looks similar to what we have!! Pretty wall color, too

@Mrs. Rabbit: Thank you! I'm so excited about the floor, though it may be a while before the installer can get us scheduled. He's swamped right now, and I'm trying not to panic about that I don't feel like the picture really does the paint color justice, it's much more green in person, I think. Such is life with a camera phone!

Hi Everyone! I am going to shamelessly restart the thread because I need decorating advice!
We are going with a Babar the elephant theme (emerald green, navy and a little bit of red and yellow) . We have a grey crib, and a white hutch, and possibly an Ikea Expedit as a changing table...
is this rug too intense or is it just right for a bright nursery?
http://www.rugsusa.com/rugsusa/rugs/rugs-usa-trellis-bc55/emerald/200BHBC55C-508.html
Any help would be appreciated! Usually I would debate this further, but I want to take advantage of that 60% off!
Anyone else decorating a boy nursery? Any tips from mom's who have done this before?

I love a bright rug in a nursery! I think it would be fine since it sounds like you have neutral furniture.
I've been looking for a bright yellow rug and I ordered one but it was completely the wrong shade. I'll probably have to go neutral and put color somewhere else.
clementine / 933 posts
@AnneBird: I'm a week late in replying, but I really love that rug! So fun! And I agree with @Aria: that your neutral furniture will look really nice with such a fun rug.

@HeartAbandoned: @Aria: Thanks! But I jinxed myself and waited too long and now its out of stock. Of course, every other emerald green/navy/grey rug is either $1200 or the wrong size.
Its hilarious that I'm looking for rugs given I just started an attic renovation today and the "nursery" is floor to ceiling storage right now! But I feel like nursery is wayyy more fun than attic!

@AnneBird: Nursery IS way more fun!! I use it to avoid lots of other household projects
I mentioned on our due date thread that we're coming along slow and steady, but I can't stop looking at the tree decal we put up this weekend. It's making it start to feel like a real baby's room!

So this is what we are starting with. I want to add magenta accents to make it a little more girly. I think I'm going to paint 3 of the orange frames magenta and replace the prints/pictures. I am also going to get a ew changing pad cover that is magenta. But i need other stuff for the walls, and a rug. Should I do a neutral rug (we had grey for lo but that rug moved to his new room) or a magenta one??
kiwi / 536 posts
@Mrs. Lion: Thank you! If I had known those leaves had to be applied individually I might have thought twice about ordering it But it was worth it!
As for your room, I love the wall color. I vote for a magenta rug! I think that plus painting the frames plus a few more little accents would make it plenty girly.

@loopedd: Oh I LOVE the decal and that the glider is right next to it. Such a perfect place to snuggle!
@Mrs. Lion: I agree on the magenta rug - I think that would be an awesome pop of "girly!" in the room! So much fun - those chevron curtains are amazing!

@loopedd: Love the decal! I think I remember you mentioning in the other thread that you're in a rental. Does the decal seem like it will come off easily? I have a big blank wall and debated putting a decal on it, but I was worried about removing it later.
@Mrs. Lion: Another vote for a magenta rug!

When my younger sister was pregnant with her first baby, she liked the Noah's ark idea, and if it was a boy, I think Noah would have been the name choice. Anyway, Walmart often has coordinating sets of fabric.
I wanted to do something special for her, but I had no fabric budget, as usual, and my mom also wanted to give LilSis baby stuff.
So, mom bought all the fabric and a pattern, and I made all the stuff! It was a green/brown/orange/yellow color scheme that I thought was adorable.
She got a fake-quilt-panel wall hanging and baby quilt, a crib mattress sheet of orange leaf-print with a striped dust ruffle. There was a cute green crib bumper with tiny animals printed on it and yellow edge binding and ties to hold it up, and then short valence-style curtains, since the army moved them around and length was never know. Turns out, width was wrong too, but oh well.
I don't she ever even once had the set in use, but it was really fun to make, and I felt good about being able to contribute.
For niece's first birthday, I bought a pattern and made her a stuffed zebra with a yarn mane and tail from the leftovers of that fabric stash. I planned to give her one animal for each holiday, but with over-enthusiastic grandparent's, my gift was worthless and I gave up.

@Aria: I actually think it's a good mix of feeling firmly applied and being easily removable. I messed up a few leaves and got them to come off fairly easily by just picking at them with my fingernails. YouTube tells me a hairdryer helps immensely for removing the whole thing... fingers crossed that's right or else I'm going to have a sad day when we move out!!

By request, here are the current pictures of the nursery. Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics, the room is too small for any of my DSLR lenses. Also, ignore the random books, we're trying to flatten out the rug.

I posted my nursery inspiration board (http://www.hellobee.com/2014/09/12/nursery-mood-board/), but I have totally changed what I want to do now, haha. I change my mind so much! Now I'm thinking about using a rug like this: http://www.potterybarnkids.com/products/sisal-chenille-jute-mat-natural/?pkey=bneutral-rugs& and this bedding: http://www.landofnod.com/girl-crib-bedding/kids-bedding-and-baby-bedding/well-nested-organic-baby-bedding-pink/f14552 Not sure about curtains yet, but I know I want to make a teepee for a reading corner for Liam to use when she's little, then for them to share once the baby is bigger. I reserve the right to change my mind again, haha.

Oh and I pin things like crazy, always getting new ideas (probably why I change my mind so much). My username is amyc83 on pinterest!

@loopedd: @HeartAbandoned: @MrsB2012: Thanks! It took me forever to settle on a color. We bought quite a few test pots and looked at a million swatches. It was hard to find a color that wasn't too blue or too green or too bright.
@mrs. tictactoe: That bedding is so pretty!

We've made a few more nursery decisions over the past couple of days! We got this rug from Target in blue: http://www.target.com/p/threshold-dot-tile-rug/-/A-16230675#prodSlot=medium_1_13&term=area+rug. And we picked out a glider! http://www.amazon.com/Dutailier-Sleigh-Glider-Multiposition-Recline-Ottoman/dp/B00I15CBOO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1415196289&sr=8-1&keywords=Dutailier.
The hardwood floors are in, the walls are painted, and have all of the crib parts from my sister! We just need to find the time for DH to put it together We plan to pick out a dresser to use as a changing table when we visit Atlanta (and thus IKEA) over Thanksgiving. We'll also pick up some of the spice racks to use as book shelves. I'm getting so excited about little man's nursery!

@Circusbee: Oh that's so fun! We loved the color, that it was soft, but not a very high-pile, the price and the pattern! We looked forever at a bunch of different places, but we just couldn't beat Target!
blogger / clementine / 750 posts
@HeartAbandoned: We're going to Ikea (in ATL) this weekend!
You guys...I still have ZERO ideas for what we're doing for this baby as far as a nursery goes. We're going up to Atlanta next week and I'm headed to Buy Buy Baby to get a Best Chair that I've had my eye on, and that's about all I have planned out for this baby. I need to figure out what to do!
