@dominobee: I don't think health professionals use the term "NIPT" because it's rather broad and generic. My doctor said "cell free DNA." Maybe you could contact the lab to verify that test was ordered?

I could have sworn I posted this yesterday...but I must not have submitted. I'm now keeping my pants closed with a binder clip. My "fat pants" are still too big, but my regular work pants are definitely too tight. but they don't have a button hole so I can't do the hair tie trick. Yesterday I broke down and used a binder clip to hold them closed so they could be a little looser.

@dominobee: Rh + means you won't need the rhogam shot, you won't have an allergic reaction to the babies blood. So its a yay. As for the other testing I'm sorry that the lab was confusing, I hope you are able to get some answers from your midwives. I think most of the NIPT need to be sent out to specialty labs and thus take 7-14 days to get results.

@dominobee: When they took my blood for NIPT, they also drew blood for a zillion other things that are part of their standard first trimester panel - blood type, iron, every STD under the sun, etc (even though I'd just had all of this with a previous pregnancy). I think this is pretty standard, and the NIPT was somewhere in one of those tubes.

Also, they didn't call with the NIPT results - I just got them through an email from counsyl, but there was no way I would accidentally see the sex. I had to click through multiple pages warning me that it was going to show me the sex before finally seeing it, as I'm sure they don't want people to accidentally see it and get upset!

@MaryM: Oh girl I FEEL YOU! My regular pants are all uncomfortable (especially after a meal) and another pair that is a size too big still don't fit right (a poor purchase from Goodwill when I was in desperate need of jeans). Though they are okay with a belt but look kind of funny because they're so loose throughout the groin, butt and legs. I think I'm going to go to Target today and pick up a pair of maternity shorts! I really hope they still have them and haven't completely transitioned to fall clothes yet. All my shorts are definitely way too tight and I don't really want to wear dresses the entire time on vacation because I only really have two that work well for hot weather. Jean shorts and tanks are standard beach vacation attire!

@dominobee: My work pants don't have belt loops, so even that isn't an option!

I've worn dresses a few times, but honestly, until I'm sleeping better, there's no way I'm keeping my legs shaved often enough to wear them multiple times a week!

Plus I think I look even more pregnant in dresses than pants and loose shirts.

@dominobee: Thanks! Very relieving...I feel like after 2.5 years ttc and one loss I am just *waiting* for something to go wrong....hoping after my NT scan and bloodwork (on Thursday!) I can finally relax and enjoy a little.

@MaryM: I'm jusssst getting to the end on pants - have some looser jeans I need to put into rotation. Luckily I work in a pretty casual environment in the summer! Have no idea what to do about maternity wear or how much to get....hoping to hold off for a few more weeks but I am advising students this fall so I need larger professional clothes by then!

@MaryM: Yeah I do too but I'm a bit chubby to begin with so I just look fatter LOL. I've been showering/shaving every other evening instead of every morning. I try to do it early, either right after work or after dinner, that way I'm not super exhausted and forcing myself to shower before bed.

@dominobee: Same here - I'm never rail skinny but after over a year of hormone treatments I'm just fluffy anyway. The good news is I think this has made it harder to actually tell or speculate!

@skiierchck99: What's nuts is that I'm losing weight again now that I'm eating a healthier, more balanced diet and not just starches for every meal - but I still look fatter. Haha. I cannot WAIT to tell the world! I'm 11w2d right now and soooo close to the second trimester I can almost taste it!

I had an appointment yesterday and heard the baby's heart beat. So ... this is STILL happening. Lol!

The nausea is really bad, as is the exhaustion and anxiety. Some days it is really hard to get out of bed. I'm not gonna lie - I'm struggling. Thank God for my husband, who has totally picked up my slack with the house and our 2 year old.

My sister came over last weekend and helped me organize my closet. She pulled out all of my old maternity clothes, and we washed and hung them up. With regular clothes, going up a size looks ridiculous and anything constricting makes my uterus cramp so bad. So time for the stretchy pants! I'm gonna head to Target soon (if I can muster the energy) to see if I can find some styles that aren't three years old.

I did the Maternity21 test yesterday, Get results in at the end of next week. I'm trying not to worry about it, since I know it's out of my hands.

@dominobee: I thought last week that I was finally starting to gain weight after I lost about 5 lbs since I got pregnant (I never got to eat tons of starches because I have celiac)

Then I realized just how constipated I was and lost 3 lbs in one day last weekend.

@magnoliamama42: I think we're all heading to target soon! Someone posted to the board about there being a clearance on Liz Lange stuff. I didn't get there this weekend, so I'm hoping there might still be some left. And I ordered a pair of pants from Gap and am hoping they'll fit right. I desperately need something for the in between phase!

I got these in pink. http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=1054916&pcid=1014425&vid=1&pid=213816082 If they fit well, I might order them in gray and blue too. I tried a pair on (they weren't the right size so I had to exchange them) and my legs are so freaking short they actually fit me as pants. I'm hoping if the other size works out, they might be my work pants through the winter too.

@CatchAFallingStar: Yay for a good scan!

A bit frustrated... I called to reschedule my appt, and they "lost" my original appt, and she's doing a bunch of half days due to surgeries and I have no sick time so I had to take an appt 5.5 weeks out from my original date Luckily I have a doppler at home but this baby has been a little harder to find than my previous so it makes me nervous. Also nervously waiting on NIPT results. When things are this good, I always get nervous about like, the bottom dropping out, like it's too good to be true.

@CatchAFallingStar: @magnoliamama42: glad to hear about the good appointments!

@MaryM: agree about getting over to Target! I don't know when I'll have time, but it sounds like I need to make time.

@DesertDreams88: If you let them know about your anxiety, will they be able to work you in anywhere?

My doctors "availability" is always somewhat limited...but in reality, he sets aside time at the beginning and end of the day to work in people that are more emergent (or in my case, just crazy and anxious). He's always said if I feel like I need to be seen, to just call the day before.

ETA: but his nurses don't offer this unless you say "He's said I could be seen earlier..."

  17. DesertDreams88

    grapefruit / 4361 posts

@MaryM: One receptionist knows me/my history/my anxiety and so she has been flexible and willing to work me in. I usually get appts every 2-3 weeks for the 1st trimester, then monthly. This was a different receptionist.

My OB knows about my anxiety and we've talked about options but I'm trying right now to manage it, and I'm doing much better than last time with G (I know you know my history, but I don't know if you know G developed heart problems in the 3rd trimester? so that made my anxiety much worse)

My problem is I have no paid sick time and no substitutes, so my students would get split up amongst the other teachers... so I can ONLY do 4pm or after.

I might call to try to reschedule but I'm going to try to wait it out.

@DesertDreams88: I hope you able to either wait patiently or find something that works. Sometimes I just need to give myself permission to try to change it down the road if I get nervous. FX!

    @CatchAFallingStar: looking great!!

@MaryM: I love those pants! i pulled out my old maternity clothes last weekend but still need to sort through them and wash what I'm going to wear. I've been able to get away with wearing regular clothes so far but I know the end to that is near.

@DesertDreams88: I'm sorry about the mix up with your appointment. I hear you about the anxiety and always waiting for something bad to happen. I keep telling myself that it's highly unlikely at this point and more likely that everything is going to be just fine.

Also, is anyone interested in a private FB group? We had one for my last pregnancy and still keep in touch which has been nice. I didn't organize it but I'm sure I can figure out how if there is any interest

  22. MaryM

    pomelo / 5129 posts

@bushelandapeck: Have you actually worn them, or do you just like the look of them?

They're all I could find that had the demi panel and weren't completely "skinny" cut. Most of my weight is in my legs and I just can't do skinny pants.

  23. MaryM

    pomelo / 5129 posts

@bushelandapeck: I'd be interested in a group if it was a secret group (since we haven't announced yet, and I'm not sure if we will on Facebook)

I've set up groups before and am willing to help

  24. magnoliamama42

@MaryM: Love those! And I have really short legs, too, so I bet they would be full length on me. What shoes do you think would work for these in the winter?

@DesertDreams88: That really does suck. I haven't had any luck with our doppler at home, either; though we heard the heartbeat nice and strong when my doc did the doppler yesterday. And it *really* sucks you have no sick time.

  25. bushelandapeck

    pomelo / 5720 posts

@MaryM: I haven't worn those but I have several pairs of maternity pants from the GAP and love the under belly ones.

Yes, the group would be secret. We haven't even told our kids yet, let alone FB

@DesertDreams88: I'm so sorry about your appointment and I cannot believe you don't have any paid sick time It's really not fair the conditions some teachers have to work under. I saw your post on another thread the other day about everything you buy for your classroom and from one teacher to another your kids are so lucky to have you!

  27. DesertDreams88

    grapefruit / 4361 posts

@magnoliamama42: @petitenoisette: I should clarify. I earn 4 hours of sick time each month. But I'd like to save that for actual, unavoidable sickness, or for FMLA since it will be unpaid. I can't use it for scheduled appts or else then I'll be docked pay later on. But really, the no subs is ridiculous. Thank you for your encouragement @petitenoisette: .

    pomelo / 5129 posts

@magnoliamama42: I mostly wear ballet flats for work. I don't spend much time outside, so it works.

@bushelandapeck: My favorite pants last pregnancy were the demi panel wide legged trousers, but they don't have them anymore. And I loved them so much, I wore them out wearing them after I wasn't pregnant. They were SO comfortable!

So I had an appointment with my urologist today for a renal ultrasound (I'm not super great at making babies, but I am the *master* of making kidney stones). And I got to see the baby! It was squiggling around in there with its little stubby arms! Made it so real. (Just to be clear: I'm not passing a stone *right now*, I've just got about 8 of them floating around in my kidneys.)

Well, when I went back to see the doctor, he took a look at my ultrasound results and hemmed and hawed about my right kidney being swollen and there weren't any good pics of the ureter, etc. And he was like "I think we're gonna do one more on you today, and I'll get her to check your ureter. And I'll probably ask to be in the room so I can be sure everything looks clear." I was like, dude, I don't have a stone in my ureter, I WOULD KNOW IF I HAD A STONE IN MY URETER. And he was like "Just to be safe ...." And that's when I got suspicious ...

Sure enough, I get back to the ultrasound room, and he meets me and the tech there, and he gets her to do a quick check of my ureter, then claps and rubs his hands together and says, "Great! Let's see the peanut!" I busted out laughing. Dude had me do another ultrasound just so he could see the baby. He watched it for like over 5 minutes, commenting on how cool it was. And I know he had a slew of patients waiting on him in the waiting room!

@DesertDreams88: My last job was like that - I earned 2 hours every two weeks. And yeah, I'm with you - you gotta save that shit for when it counts. (does this site allow cursing??) Why the no subs? Are they short staffed?

@bushelandapeck: I'd be down for a secret Facebook group!

  32. MaryM

    pomelo / 5129 posts

@DesertDreams88: we get one sick day a month, but also don't have maternity leave so I'm trying to save it up for FMLA. It probably wouldn't be so bad if someone had clued me in to take vacation time (which accumulates faster and is use or lose at the end of the year) instead of sick leave after I had Virginia. I was out for about a month, and totally killed the time I'd built up over 10 years. It's so hard to rebuild it after you use a bunch...

I've been creative with appointments this summer to either work from home and take my "lunch" for an appointment or make them when we close early on Fridays (just a summer thing)

I'm hoping my manager might let me continue being creative once I tell work. She's not the most empathetic person ever...

  34. DesertDreams88

@magnoliamama42: I think the combination of low pay + not great teaching conditions makes it hard to get subs here. I work in a K-8 school district, and some schools are favored by admin and subs, and others aren't (mine isn't). Also, what sub wants to take an 8th grade class when they could have a 4th grade class of cuties? haha. Subs completely have their choice.

  35. DesertDreams88

    grapefruit / 4361 posts

@MaryM: yes exactly. I had 8 weeks saved up for G and now.... 2 hours. haha. Fingers crossed for your manager growing in empathy!

Has anyone found out gender yet? I haven't been reading all of your posts. When I'm nauseous, scrolling makes it worse. Excited to find it what everyone is having! @dominobee: do they give gender with twins on the NIPT?
