@dominobee: I think that is a really cute, funny way to announce

@dominobee: haha! That will be great!

@DesertDreams88: Oh my goodness.. that's so adorable! Did you get a huge response?

@dominobee: you could say in common with Beyoncé and George Clooney! (or Amal Clooney, I suppose)

@dominobee: I loved prenatal yoga when I was pregnant! I haven't found a class near me for this one but am hoping to. I've been pretty much doing the same kinda of exercises (spin, Pilates, Barre, weights) but toned down. I injured my right arm a few weeks ago and have to wear a brace for the next month so thatspit a damper on some of the stuff I like to do. I'm headed to a 7am spin class this morning though-wish me luck!

@petitenoisette: the heat is so hard. We were at a farm licking blueberries and raspberries on Friday and I literally thought I was going to throw up more than once. Thankfully I was with a friend and she took over watching my kids for a minute so I could sit in the shade. I'm looking forward to Fall too!

It's difficult to toggle between screens on my phone so rather than responding individually, I'll respond in general. I'm amazed at how great everyone is about continuing their routine exercises. With the scare a few weeks ago of bleeding, I haven't felt comfortable with resuming any lengthy walks/hiking. Today I actually walked 2 miles home from the auto shop. I had called DH to let him know that I would walk home & he told me to Uber home instead (he was home with DD waiting for a contractor to come over, otherwise he would've picked me up). It was actually a pretty pleasant walk until I had to start going uphill & remembered that I was supposed to be on pelvic rest. 😓

In regards to sleep, I'm still so tired at night so I fall asleep at 8:30-9ish when DD goes down but I end up waking up to pee. And once that happens, I can't fall asleep again for another hour or so which renders me even more tired the next day. 😒 So I'm happy for & jealous of those who are able to sleep through the night.

As for announcements, we probably won't do a social media announcement until I'm on maternity leave as I did last time. I think after having infertility issues, I'm a bit more sensitive to those who may be going through it. We let friends know in person or via individual/group texts (which will happen when we're past the first trimester). I think all too often, many people "suffer" in silence as fertility is such a sensitive & private subject. But now I'm not as bitter/sensitive about the process/miscarriages we've had and like seeing the different announcements. I think our Christmas cards will most likely be our "announcement" for friends who we don't see as often which is what we did previously as well. For other celebrity parents of twins, there's J.Lo, Angelina Jolie, Julia Roberts, Mariah Carey, Zoe Saldana, etc.

@bushelandapeck: Dang I am super impressed with that workout regimen! I've been taking it super duper easy. Maybe it's first pregnancy paranoia but I'm worried about overheating. I prefer exercising outside over the gym and it's been so hot here that I haven't wanted to bike and run.

After a couple weeks of doing really well I randomly threw up bile again this morning! Thought that phase was just about over but I guess not. Usually I eat a bowl of cereal as soon as I get up, and today I waited about half an hour and then WHOOPS up it came. Ate some granola and feeling much better now.

Anybody else just really not feeling like doing social stuff? Last night DH's baseball team had a party and I went to be supportive, but felt pretty bored and a little socially awkward the whole time. I don't know if it's because everyone else was drinking and I wasn't - and most of them don't know why - or if it's just hormones. Been feeling a little down in the dumps... or really like I just need a LOT of downtime to recharge. Both my productivity and interest in social outings are at an all time low. I really hope this doesn't last the entire pregnancy!

I haven't posted in a while because we've been busy traveling and having house guests. We met with my OB for the first time on 7/20 and had a good check up. My due date has officially been changed to 2/19. Our next appointment is on 8/2 for NIPT.

I can't wait for my nausea to go away and my appetite for non-bland foods to come back. Also, I thought having a super human sense of smell sounded so awesome- I will be glad when it goes away as well

I wake up at least 3 times a night to pee, but luckily it hasn't been too hard to fall back asleep. I find the trick is having a little night light so I don't have to turn on any lights when I get up- helps me to not completely wake up

@dominobee: Meeeee! I have become more of an introvert as I've gotten older and DH is very much an extrovert. He always wants to have people around and it's just exhausting to me...especially when pregnant. We've had our fair share of arguments over the past few weeks about this, as he seems to forget that I'm tired, nauseous, and just want to relax sometimes.

@skate13: happy to hear you had a good appointment!

@bushelandapeck: My husband is also an extrovert - and I've also become more introverted as I age (used to be a social butterfly) - but he is being reallllly cool about me not wanting to be social. I stuck it out at his party til about 9 - he would have been sad if I hadn't gone. And he was willing to ride his bike home so I could take the car home. I just feel like such a fuddy duddy lately!

@bushelandapeck: DH and I are also the opposite, but always have been. Every couple of years we have a fight when he invites people over without telling me. But for the most part, we've accepted each other's independence and just go with it (but who knows if that may change when we have kids in the equation).

I don't care if spends a few hours on the weekend watching sports with the guys because it means I can have the house to myself and have some me time.

Because we dated for so long before we got married, I think he got used to the idea that it was just too much for me to go out multiple nights in a row or say yes to every single social invitation. But if he wants to go by himself, I don't care, and he doesn't seem to care if I don't go.

I started getting really anxious last night for today's doctor's appointment and the next couple of weeks of stuff. Aug. 1 last year is when we found out our last baby had trisomy. And here we are again! I know the chances are still super slim that it would happen (again), but I can't help but try to prepare myself for the worst.

    pomelo / 5720 posts

@dominobee: We actually drove to a wedding last weekend instead of taking the shuttle to/from the reception because I didn't want to get stuck there. We ended up leaving at 9:45pm and I was SO tired.

@MaryM: I can imagine this would be a very hard day for you. I'll be thinking of you and hoping everything goes smoothly today and over the next couple of weeks.

@MaryM: OMG I love when DH goes out without me! Especially now just because I feel like I need so much more quiet time.

Lots of luck for a great appointment today. You're right, the odds are in your favor for a happy, healthy pregnancy!

I have my NIPT blood test this afternoon and I'm really looking forward to getting my results. I keep telling myself what I just told you... that the odds are in favor of a healthy pregnancy. But it will still be nice to know for sure. If we get good results we're going to start talking about it openly! We'll likely be on vacation at that point (leave Sat morning and get back Wed evening) so I plan to start telling friends & family when we get back, work at our staff meeting the following Wednesday and then social media thereafter!

@dominobee: DH has season tickets for football games with his sister, and people always ask me how I feel about being a football "widow."

    Um, it's fantastic!

I'm also doing the NIPT bloodwork today and hoping for results before the weekend. But at least by Monday if possible. Although that could be odd since I'm heading to my mom's for a few days. I wonder how DH will feel about me possibly telling him the gender by phone...

I really want to be able to share good news with my brother's kids while I'm there in person. Tuesday there's a memorial Mass for our last baby, so it would be nice to have something to share with people to look forward to.

@MaryM: I'm anxiously awaiting my NIPT results. It's been 10 days and nothing so far (sigh). I'm asking them to put the gender in an envelope so we can pick it up at my appt on 8/8 and then decide when to open it as a family. I told my mom via phone last night because my IL's were coming over and I knew DH was going to tell them. I selfishly wanted my mom to know first. They were all very happy for us, albeit a little surprised

@dominobee: definitely being anti-social (though we're both introverts to begin with)! I just don't feel well enough to socialize and the nighttime is usually the worst, plus all of our friends require some driving to see which makes me even less inclined. Also, I'm still hoping to wait to tell anyone else until I have my next appointment where hopefully we'll hear the heartbeat. We do have plans this weekend though so we'll see if I can hold out telling.

@MaryM: thinking of you for your appointment today. I hope you get the results quick and that baby is perfect

@bushelandapeck: ugh, that's a long wait! Hopefully you get news today or tomorrow.

@bushelandapeck: I've been waiting 10 days for results too! It's so annoying. I had Harmony and their website claims 7 days. Ugh! Hope you get yours soon!

@JJ2626: I did MaterniTi21 and my OB said 2 weeks which would be this coming Friday. I think it was more like 6 days when I did it with my son. I am hoping it's soon!

@JJ2626: @bushelandapeck: Hoping you ladies don't have to wait too much longer for your results! I'm having testing done tomorrow and I'm really hoping we won't have to wait too long for results. I'm already nervous about it! I'm also thinking about asking them to tell me the results of the genetic testing but then asking them to cal back and leave a voicemail to tell the gender so DH and I can listen to it together. Is that weird? I just want to be able to find out together somehow!

So many comments to reply to here!
I'm naturally an introvert and I like my "me time" / "down time" / "alone time." That plus pregnancy fatigue has left me pretty tired after only 1-2 hours of social commitments.

Anyone planning a gender reveal of some sort? I kind of like the idea, but I also don't like the idea of waiting, haha. And the details of actual implementation.

@MaryM: I know the next month or so will be very difficult due to the anniversaries. Hopefully this time, this time, will be different. I hope your weekly ultrasounds and therapy helps you have comfort and persist through this time!

@DesertDreams88: I think we'll do a mini gender reveal. Well, we'll probably have them write it in an envelope for just the two of us because I know I will cry, especially in front of other people and then we'll do a mini-reveal for our parents. Where hopefully I won't cry since I'll know already.

  24. bushelandapeck

    pomelo / 5720 posts

@jodyblair: Mine said they would do that too so I may have them do that and leave a piece pf paper in case I don't want to wait any longer. lol. So, not weird to me!

@DesertDreams88: I would like to do one for our families at my son's birthday party on 8/12 but DH isn't totally on board with that. He doesn't want to take anything away from celebrating DS and I totally get that. I think we will do a small reveal just for us at home. I'm thinking of having someone make a cake or cupcakes with the gender-colored frosting inside.

Our nurse said they could call someone else with the results to do a gender reveal. DH was like, hell no! Just tell us as soon as possible!

Things looked good today. I'll be calling tomorrow to schedule the NT. My OB confirmed we'll ignore their trisomy I go and go by the NIPT, but he likes the results to rule out possible heart defects and the PappA (sp?) levels.

@MaryM: glad you had a good appointment!!

I got my NIPT test results back and everything looks great! Opting out of any further testing at this point though they always offer amino if you want it to confirm. I had her leave a VM with the sex of the baby and now my phone is torturing me! DH was with me when I was taking the call and he didn't seem pressured to hear the sex but I'm dying to know!

@MaryM: glad your appt went well!

@bushelandapeck: Yay that you got good results! You inspired me to email my doctor and right as I did I got another email with my NIPT results: low risk! I'm relieved. We aren't finding out the gender. I have the NT scan on Wednesday and maybe then I can finally exhale!

@JJ2626: that's awesome! So glad your results came back low risk. It really is such a big relief. Excited to see your little bean on Weds!

So, I swear last year they encouraged me to come in close to 11 weeks for the NT ultrasound. I just scheduled it, and it's not going to be for another two and a half weeks. Ugh the waiting! But at least then it'll be less than two weeks until I see the OB again. And at least it's on a friday afternoon so I don't have to take off work (we still have a few half day fridays left in the summer)

  33. bushelandapeck

    pomelo / 5720 posts

@MaryM: ugh! I think my OB said between 12-14w so I guess that makes sense but is still annoying!

  34. MaryM

    pomelo / 5129 posts

@bushelandapeck: I'm pretty sure last year, I tried to make it at 12-12.5, and they encouraged me to push it back just in case the baby didn't cooperate and I had to reschedule.

I'm hoping since I have a week off work in between then, maybe my stress will be low enough that I can handle waiting longer.

Just had my first appointment with my OB after being released from my RE - finally! No US, but the heartbeat sounded good on the doppler much to my relief. Have to get in for the NT scan and bloodwork in the next 2 weeks now, but after that I am hoping to be able to share more freely!

I don't know if this is even possible but I got an email today saying the results of my my recent testing are in! I logged in to my account and there was one separate test result that showed I am RH positive (need to look up what that means because I forget). Then the other result says "OB panel" and I don't know if that's the NIPT results or what. I haven't opened it bc I don't want to see the sex(es) yet! I guess I'll call the midwife practice in the morning to see if they can look at my results. Could the NIPT results really be back in 24 hours??!! This is torture!!

EDIT: I looked at it scrolling REALLY slowly so as not see anything I don't want to see, and it's all different stuff. Doesn't look like NIPT results and there's no sex listed. So I guess I'll have more results later.

  38. petitenoisette

    pear / 1521 posts

@dominobee: that sounds like just results for your blood work. So like your iron levels and stuff. RH+ is good, it will spare you an extra shot later in your pregnancy

I don't think NIPT results will come through in your regular health account, I'm pretty certain they will call to tell you the results.

  39. bushelandapeck

    pomelo / 5720 posts

@petitenoisette: yeah, even though mine are back they do not show up in my online patient portal. I checked this morning

Feeling like today is the day to tell my supervisor, even though I think I could go another few weeks without obviously showing. I have an appt next week that is going to interfere with a weekly work call, so I figure I best tell her ahead of that.

  40. dominobee

    pear / 1553 posts

@petitenoisette: The nurse at the midwife practice mentioned that they would call me with the NIPT results.

I am a little worried though that they won't run my blood for the NIPT stuff, despite that being the order from the midwife practice. When I went to the lab one tech said to another "It's just an OB panel," So I hope I do actually get those results! I would hate to have to wait another two weeks especially since I'm waiting on these results to announce.

I feel like continuing education for health care workers should include "how to talk to patients in normal language." Like I kept saying I was there for an NIPT test and not one person at the lab said that back to me, like yes, we will do NIPT. They just said "OB panel" which wasn't a term I heard before, even from the nurse in the midwife practice.
