36 weeks today! The countdown is getting REAL. I was really sick last week, with the worst being on Friday, and it spiked my anxiety so my OB did an ultrasound on Tuesday to check everything out and she is looking good. My next appointment on is on Tuesday and we'll talk about my platelets, timing of an induction in regards to low platelets, and things I want to avoid (episiotomy, amniotomy, IV fluids to start, any 2 induction methods used at once). Hopefully it will be a great conversation and LO1 will behave while there (no childcare that day).

Meanwhile, work is getting to be a bit stressful with some conflict and disagreements so it's probably a good time for me to be "bowing out." My substitute has been selected and they'll be able to visit and observe for 2 days before taking over. I'm about 80% done with my plans for them so that's great.

@DesertDreams88: My work is getting INSANE! No one knows who's in charge of anything anymore...and we're down two people. When I leave, that hole is just going to be bigger...

Remember how I was supposed to meet with HR and the person left without contacting me that day? I followed up twice and never heard from her, so I reached out to a manager to ask if I should contact someone else.

She wrote me back after I sent that email and thanked me for being flexible. Um...I'm not being flexible... I'm actually sort of the opposite of it and really bothered that you haven't reached out to me before now to reschedule and apologize!

Hopefully I'm finally meeting with her Wednesday.

@dominobee: so glad you had a good appointment, and that you’re feeling so confident! I hope they come soon And yay for getting all the work stuff squared away! Although seriously so ridiculous that you had to deal with that hassle and stress right before you’re leaving. Glad it all worked out.

@skiierchck99: scheduled for 2/5 at this point, mainly because it works best for us with childcare needs. I really hope not to need to go that route though!

OB said the baby was already engaged in my pelvis at my 37 week appointment, and I gotta say, I've definitely been feeling so much more movement down there. He is putting so much pressure on my bladder and cervix it feels like razor blades sometime. I won't get a cervical check until 39 weeks, but the OB seemed to think I wouldn't make it to 40 weeks because I've already dropped.

    @Tionn3: exciting!!

@MaryM: your mental reaction to being called "flexible" is exactly the same reaction I would have had. Fingers crossed for your meeting on Wednesday to get everything decided!

@MaryM: That is so annoying! I'm sorry that's happening to you. I hope it all gets worked out soon.

@tionn3: How exciting, I hope you get to meet him in the next couple of weeks!

I had my 37 week appointment with the midwives - actually with a CRNP (who is 36 weeks with her 3rd!) - this morning. She did a cervical check at my request and YOWZA did I feel that! I didn't realize it was going to hurt so next time I'm going to ask for a minute so I can use my Hypnobabies techniques for anesthesia. She said my cervix is thinning but it's still high and less than one centimeter dilated. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little disappointed when I heard that!

Other than that appointment I didn't have anything I needed to do today which has been lovely. I purchased the "Come Out Baby" hypnosis track and will be listening to that daily, and did a few other hypnobabies tracks as well. DH and I DTD and I also ate a spicy lunch and am now drinking red raspberry leaf tea. My doula sent me a technique for moving baby into the ideal position and possibly inducing labor called The Miles Circuit (http://www.milescircuit.com/) so I'm going to look into that. And I watched Star Wars: The Force Awakens and took a warm bath. All in all a good day!

I'm going back on Friday to get another cervical check and possibly a membrane sweep if I am a candidate for it at that point. My induction is scheduled for next Wednesday, 2/7, which I am not all that thrilled about. And I still might cancel it, but I wanted to at least get it on the schedule. I am really hoping that the full moon (a blue supermoon lunar eclipse at that!) on Wednesday will get things moving. But I also think two babies born on Friday 2/2 would be fun as well. The other night I had a dream that my water broke late-ish in the evening after I had gone to bed but DH was still up. It was super vivid, I remember getting up to pee and thinking I had peed myself, I reached down to touch the fluid and then smelled it, and it didn't smell like pee so I ran into the guest room where DH was on the computer and was like "I'm leaking! I'm leaking!" and was so excited, hahaha. The dream was so vivid that it felt more like a premonition than a dream even. Let's hope it comes true!!

Uggghhhh day 2 of after-dinner indigestion. If last night was any clue I’ll spend all night tonight on the toilet. I’ve read this can happen a few days before labor... fingers crossed.

@dominobee: my friend had twins almost a year ago--one was born on 01/31 and the second on 02/01, right around midnight! maybe you'll be in the same situation? but i like your idea of 2 on 2/2!

@Ergggg: My DH keeps talking about that happening! I think that’s what he’s hoping for

@dominobee: 2on 2/2 sounds cool but I can see twins liking having separate birthdays. I hope you go into labor soon on your own. I'm no help with tips even though I was induced I was already at a 4 when they broke my water and I never needed pit

@dominobee: so 2/7 is it then? Exciting to have a date ifbthings don’t move along before then!

I had a non stress test and OB appt today. All is looking good. Progressed to 3cm since last week, still high but soft. She did a sweep and said if it’s going to work I should go into labor within 24 hours or so. She also seemed to think it will happen before my scheduled induction on 2/5 no matter what so that’s hopeful! I’m having lots of cramping and blood tinged mucus since the sweep but nothing else so far. We shall see!

Well, I've sent my FMLA approval to my big boss (since my supervisor, who it was sent to, is still not here). And I've given her access to shared docs she might need when I'm gone. And a chart of my responsibilities.

Now I wouldn't be surprised if SHE puts in her notice...

Has a good 36 week appointment! Good in 4 ways:

    1) No dilation or effacement at all, so most likely that means I still have a good chunk of time left, which is good for work and personal reasons. I've got stuff to get done!

    2) She didn't refer me to a hematologist for my platelets, which I kind of knew wouldn't happen, but she did consult with a high-risk specialist and she's going with the standard course of treatment (steroids starting at 38 weeks and a scheduled induction).

    3) She was talking about a 39 week induction but I'm more in favor of a 40 week induction, and she's 100% on board with that. I'd prefer 40 weeks to allow my body to progress more naturally and for work reasons.

    4) I told her that I had re-started nursing my 2-year-old and she was unfazed, and she said that it's not going to bring on early labor because I've been doing it for a month now and no cervical change.

All in all it looks like this baby has a more narrow birth window, sometime between Feb 17-23! We will see though.

So, HR pretty much told me not to sweat anything. They said the worst case scenario would be me asking to work from home for a day or two at the end of the fiscal year so that I remain "paid" and can take my vacation time come May 1. But she's still going to see how early I can deliver and max out my time and remain paid. But I feel a lot better!

@MaryM @desertdreams88: Good news on all accounts!

Had a (relatively short-lived) burst of energy today, which of course I'm hoping is a good sign of impending labor, but at the same time trying not to get my hopes up. Walked the dog first thing in the morning, danced a little to a Dolly Parton record (9 to 5), did the exercises recommended by my doula and ran some errands to keep moving. Then went to a prenatal chiropractic appointment to open up my pelvis and hopefully help move things along!

I keep coming back here hoping to see more babies being born. But I guess things will start to ramp up for us soon! Come on babies!!!

Okay, we finally finished it, our 64 square foot nursery for two! All the functional stuff has been set up for weeks, we just added some final decorative elements tonight. Most of the decorations were things we already had, so it's not a super matchy-out-of-a-magazine look but it still has a theme, which I like.

@DesertDreams88: Hopefully that baby stays put for now! I'm with you on hoping to go just a bit longer due to work, even a few days late would be ideal. My paid time off won't last til the end of the school year so every day I work is another I will get paid!
@MaryM: Glad HR is working with you

    @bushelandapeck: Exciting update!!!

I'm pretty sure I started passing part of my mucous plug yesterday. There was more "stuff" than usual... (when TTC, I used a mucous based method so I'm still in the habit of checking when wiping). It was just bits, so hopefully it doesn't mean anything yet!

@MaryM: @DesertDreams88: @skiierchck99: thanks! They let me leave as my contractions weren’t super painful yet and I don’t want Pitocin if I can avoid it. We are wandering around Boston, hoping to get things going and then will re-evaluate things around 5-6pm.

@bushelandapeck: Ack, good luck! I hope things start moving along quickly!

@MaryM: I've read you can lose your mucous plug weeks before you actually go into labor. It can even regenerate if you lose it super early. Or you can not lose it at all until the day of! I keep checking to see if I'm losing mine but so far, no dice.

I was measuring 40 weeks at my last OB appt (even though I'm at 38.5 weeks). I'm definitely feeling like my body is telling me go time is coming soon. My scheduled CS is Monday and today is my last day at work before baby.

  36. bushelandapeck

@DesertDreams88: apparently your body continues to make the fluid so it never stops until the baby comes out! So gross.
