    @Tionn3: GL for Wednesday! My 2nd u/s is Thursday at 6w3d so I'm hoping to see a heartbeat... maybe two!

    @dominobee: smells are the WORST! the refrigerator on my floor wasn't working all weekend so when I came in this morning people were throwing out all of the spoiled food. I seriously almost threw up in my wastebasket. Had to keep my door closed for the first hour of the day. The thing that gets to me most is having to change my 2yo's poopy diapers. Blech.

  3. dominobee

    pear / 1553 posts

    @bushelandapeck: OMG that would be awful. I told DH I can't walk the dog alone til the second trimester. Poop is just waaaay too gross for me right now.

    @LadyDi: Yes, my sister had her 3rd a month after I had my first! I admit it was initially shocking to find out she was pregnant again but now it's of course amazing to have cousins the same age! They are only 2 now so I'm sure it will get even better as they get older and play more together but they definitely really love each other already.

    Did everyone call their doctor right away upon getting a positive test? I haven't called mine yet (5 weeks today)- with my first I called pretty much right away but now that I know they won't see me until 8 weeks at the earliest I'm not feeling much urgency, ha. And just it makes me nervous to call and "jinx" things or something. I'm going on vacation on Thursday so I guess I will call before then.

    @bushelandapeck: It's really too early for me to be feeling sick and I mostly feel fine but I could not handle my LOs poopy diaper yesterday.

    @dominobee: With my first I had to walk the dog during the day by myself and my best advice if necessary is to make sure you hold your breath until the bag is tied up. Obviously the site is gross too but it helps.

    @petitenoisette: That's so awesome!

    I called right away but that's because I'm seeing an RE.

    I don't want to brag but I just want to leave a GLOWING review for my husband. He is SO excited about this pregnancy and has been really amazing so far. When I announce I can't do something cuz of nausea (pick up dog poop, clean the toilet, cook literally anything) he is totally fine to do it instead. He's been picking up the slack since I've been too fatigued to keep up with chores as much as I normally do (and let's be honest, the house is a little messier too, but oh well.) He's twice made special trips or stops to get me something to eat that doesn't make me want to barf. And he's just generally being so much nicer, haha! Anyone else's DH do this - especially during your first pregnancy? I hope this lasts the next eight months!!

  8. dominobee

    pear / 1553 posts

    @petitenoisette: DH is temporarily funemployed so it's allll him til the second trimester! Haha!

    @petitenoisette: My sisters twins were #4 & 5 for her! Suffice to say, it was a surprise for all of us! lol.
    I called around 5w too, knowing that I wouldn't be able to get in before 10-12 weeks (my offices policy unless you're high risk) but I wanted a good time of day for an appointment. With two kids to work around, I have a limited window of time to go to appointments without them and have to find childcare which can be tricky.

    @bushelandapeck: Oh man, that is crazy about your sister!
    I'm on summer vacation now so thankfully it's easier to figure out schedule-wise though LO1 might just have to come with me.
    @dominobee: My DH was really sweet too and we got along even better than normal when I was pregnant! I think for dads it's often hard for them to connect much with the baby especially before you're showing but their feelings come out more for mom. Your DH sounds very sweet

    @LadyDi: When I was pregnant with my son, my sister was pregnant with her 2nd and due 2 months before me. My SIL (bro's wife) was pg with her 2nd too due 2 weeks before me. And on top of that my SIL (DH's bro's wife) was due 3 weeks after me. My son has 3 cousins all the same age and he loves playing with. They are all now in their crazy 3-nager mode, but it is a ton of fun.

    Since we conceived through IVF, we have had 2 ultrasounds thus far, and this thurs. will be my OB check out. I get to finally move to see my OB regularly. Hallelujah! My last ultrasound, we measured exactly 6w 5days and saw the heartbeat (beating at 110).

    @petitenoisette: I was shocked that my SIL was pregnant, but I am glad she didn't feel like I was stealing her thunder since this is her first. I did call my doctor and our daycare provider pretty much immediately, but I wanted a good timeslot for the appointment and to make sure I could reserve a spot in our infant room at daycare.

    @petitenoisette: I called right before five weeks, I think; my practice is pretty busy, so I wanted to make sure I could get an appointment.

    @LadyDi: aww, that is so neat!! None of my close relatives are pregnant, or trying, but I do think my brother and sister in law are trying for their first, so hopefully they will get pregnant soon! i would love for my kids to have cousins close in age.

    Ugh, this last weekend and today have just been awful. Constant nausea, lots of vomiting, exhausted. My husband is out of town so I've been with my toddler by myself, and I'm so tired! It doesn't help that it's been pretty hot here. Haha. I am thankful for the symptoms, though - I am so hoping it means things are progressing!

    Hi ladies! Really excited to be joining you all!

    Location: UK

    EDD: February 28, but I ovulated later so may get pushed to March with scans

    First child? No, third 😃

    Any symptoms? We weren't TTC so I only thought to test when the smell of eggs and my cup of tea were making me feel sick. I had some round ligiment pain and heartburn last week but didn't suspect pregnancy. Very tired and nauseous.

    Who have you told? Lots of people, ha ha. My mum friends from where I had my first two children, lots of HB friends. MIL and my parents and my kids. I don't have the energy for trying to keep it a secret this time.

    Current thoughts/feelings: I only found out on Saturday and was totally caught off guard, but am very happy. The timing isn't great for our family right now but in other ways it's perfect. I'm terrified of another bout of awful morning sickness and scared of miscarriage after a previous loss. Quite overwhelmed really and very emotional. But mostly feeling so lucky for this little blessing

    @theotherstark: Solo parenting when you don't feel well is the worst! Hope bedtime comes quickly

    @travelgirl1: Congratulations! It's fun to see another Mama with baby #3 on the way!

    @travelgirl1: congratulations!!

    @jodyblair: ha, it has been rough, but not too bad since it's only 5 days. He's gone again in two weeks for a longer trip. He didn't really have any control on the timing, but I'm bummed it all is coinciding with first-tri grossness. Haha. Oh well. It is what it is!

    @ladydi: PGH question for you - would you go canoeing on the Allegheny while pregnant? Risk of falling in/infection... I dunno. I mean the general advice is don't get in the water after it rains/with open wounds/with a compromised immune system. We got a canoe a couple months ago and I'd hate to not be able to use it all summer!! But I also don't want to take unnecessary risks.

    @dominobee: I think it's ok as long as you are following the general guidelines, don't swallow water, etc. I don't have the opportunity to be on the rivers much (I need to befriend someone with a boat) but I wouldn't really worry about it!

    @illumina:
    It is only natural to be anxious slightly all through your gestation -- in the end, this entire baby mania is new, nerve-racking erratic and you precisely want so badly for it to be perfect. And imagine what? It generally does. Fear during your pregnancy about things not going wrong is but natural. So let whatever come to your mind you need not stop it. As time passes and your baby in your womb grows, you will feel better and all your fear will change to happiness. You will feel as if the world is in your hands, as you know giving birth to a new being is possible only by women.

    @jodyblair: @theotherstark: @dominobee: @bushelandapeck: Thanks, ladies!

    @bushelandapeck: ha ha, I'm pretty terrified too. Both kids were crying as we left the house this morning and I can oooonly imagine how another one in the mix is going to help 😂😂😂

    Inching ever closer to actually vomiting. This morning one look at a pan soaking in the sink almost sent me sprinting to the bathroom. And I'm only 6w1d! Can't wait for my ultrasound Thursday to get confirmation that this is all for a good reason. DH is going to be able to come this time and he's really excited about it. I'm glad he'll be there too, it's such a nerve-wracking experience.

    Also I can't really stomach coffee which makes me sooooo sad. I love coffee and I'm having a hard time waking up without it. Anybody have a morning pick-me-up substitute to share? Yesterday my coffee went mostly untouched and by mid-afternoon I was dragging. I had a can of Coke which gave me the energy I needed to get through the day, but I don't really want to start to depend on soda because of the sugar and empty calories. Maybe Coke Zero? Diet Coke grosses me out.

    @dominobee: this first few weeks I couldn't stomach coffee either. Now that I'm eight weeks I'm able to have one cup in the morning usually. You could try green tea?

  32. dominobee

    pear / 1553 posts

    @bushelandapeck: Yes I might do that.

    Every time I open the fridge it makes me want to barf. Like the diversity of food, just the visual... blech.

  33. bushelandapeck

    pomelo / 5720 posts

    @dominobee: I'm also of the mindset that one Coke or Coke Zero per day is totally fine.

  34. dominobee

    pear / 1553 posts

    @bushelandapeck: yeah I suppose it would only be short term, for the next couple of months. I used to drink a beer after work most days so this is like a replacement.

    The other day I was telling DH that I can't eat very much at a sitting and joking that the only thing left for me to binge on is Netflix LOL.

    Today might be the day that I throw up at work. I'm so close right now.

    Lunch today. I brought bread and hummus but can't even stomach that. Also my awesome co-worker (who I told) gave me an unused toothbrush she had in her purse. So nice.

    Since a nurse called today to confirm I'm pregnant, I guess I'll share here!

    Location: DC area

    EDD: Feb 27 (I'm guessing, could be earlier. My chart was a mess this month)

    First child? Fourth pregnancy, but no living children. I've had losses at 8, 23, and 13 weeks

    Any symptoms? Exhaustion, sore boobs, occasionally reflux, and heart palpitations. And some trouble sleeping

    Who have you told? Just DH, one good friend, and an IF Facebook group

    Current thoughts/feelings/fears? Surprisingly, I'm not nearly as terrified and anxious as I have been in past pregnancies. Maybe it hasn't really sunk in yet? But I was excited to tell DH this time instead of scared

    I haven't called my OB yet because I've been traveling for work and don't want to go in until about 7 weeks anyway because ultrasounds can be stressful before then.

    But I have a doctor monitoring my progesterone, and heard from her nurse today that my progesterone and hcg levels were good, and I have a phone appointment with her Thursday.
