@MaryM: yeah. My dr. asked me if I wanted to come in this week (at just over six weeks), due to my loss earlier this year, but I was too nervous that they wouldn't see anything yet, so pushed it to next week. It's just so hard waiting!

@dominobee: nice! I'm on the west coast, so I won't have to wait too long for news

How do you guys deal with the nausea? Mine isn't too bad, but it's at like a constant mild level all day, and sometimes all night. Do the saltines really work? I haven't tried those yet. I have peanut butter pretzels but they might be too greasy.

I'm so jealous of y'all that have appointments so soon! I probably won't be seen until 10 weeks and the wait is KILLING me! I'm switching from my OB to midwives at a new birth center and still waiting for the paperwork to be processed before I can schedule an appointment. I did find out though that at my first appointment, we'll probably have blood drawn for the genetic testing which means we'll be able to find out the gender not long after! We have two boys and I can't wait to find out if we're having a third boy or a baby girl!

@Tionn3: mine has been pretty constant, too. I don't think I'm managing it particularly well, haha, but I have been trying to snack on regular pretzels (I don't think I would want to eat the PB ones, but that's just me), and Boom Chika Pop lightly salted popcorn. And drinking lots of cold water. I do have those Preggy Pop Drops, but I don't think they help much. I thought I would really like wheat thins, but I don't anymore - apparently too much flavor or something? Pregnancy is weird!

@jodyblair: the waiting sucks! I just had a loss earlier this year, so they are seeing me on the earlier end of when they normally make appts. So neat you'll get your blood drawn and will know the sex soon after your first appt!

@Tionn3: I eat Saltines all morning. Maybe a little bit of fruit too. Try moisture rich fruit like watermelon. By the afternoon I can usually graduate to something like rice or bread and hummus. By evening I'm ravenous but really only want carbs.
Coffee is a huge no-no for me (which feels crazy, because I've drank coffee every morning for the last 15 years!) Switched to green tea today and that is much more palatable. Also, try popsicles. I went with the "grown up" less sugary ones, w/ real fruit in the rectangle-ish shape. Also someone brought in hard candy to work yesterday and that was nice in the afternoon to keep my blood sugar up.
Also fizzy water, and just cold water, preferably drank through a straw.
Isn't it funny though, we wanted so badly to be pregnant... and now it kind of sucks! Haha. Of course I'm thrilled to be expecting, it's just funny how not magical this feels. Also, you hear about morning sickness, but NO ONE tells you how tired you will be! Today and tomorrow I'm getting up for work at 4am and I'm pretty sure I'll be ready for bed by like 5pm. Yesterday I got in bed at 7:15, just 12 hours after I'd woken up for work!!

@jodyblair: me too! I go in at 10w4d for my first appointment. I'm hoping to hear the HB on the Doppler. Then at 12w I'll have my NT scan and blood work for the genetic testing. My husband and I haven't decided if we will read the results of the sex of the baby or wait until the anatomy scan later on. Finding out so early feels strange!
@Tionn3: I've been taking B6 3x/day on the advice of the nurse at my OBs office. She also recommended I stop taking my prenatal vitamins for a few days and I've since switched to tegular gummy vitamins (same amount of folic acid). I've been snacking on dry cereal, GF pretzels, and raw veggies. The evenings are the worst time for me and I'm not really able to eat much.

We lost our little miracle baby today. Very, very sad, but thankful for the two lovely children I already have.
I wish you all a very happy and healthy nine months

I ended up having to call my doctor to reschedule anyway because DH couldn't make it to the appointment I scheduled. I let them know I was anxious and asked if there was any way I could also come in next week for an ultrasound. The doctor isn't available, but they were able to set me up with the NP. Thank God!

I need some drink suggestions! I have been wanting something carbonated but I can't stand La Croix. I want something like Clearly Canadian (does anybody remember that from the 90s?! ) I might just have to end up mixing seltzer with juice if I can't find anything I like. And I don't like flavored sparkling waters...they always end up tasting too fake. Help satisfy this craving!!!

@jodyblair: Have you tried New York Seltzer? I've gotten it from World Market.
Or maybe invest in a soda stream? DH got me one years ago and I like it for making soda water I can mix with juice. I'll go through phases with seltzer where I'm drinking a ton of it, and it makes so much sense to not be buying it!

had my first ultrasound today! they couldn't find the baby internally - which of course freaked me out at first. So he tried it externally and there she/he was. Im measuring a few days behind but they base everything off of a 28 day cycle and im a 32 day cycle. so based off of that i'm on schedule. got to see the heartbeat which looked fast and strong. won't be able to see the nugget again for another 3.5 weeks at the genetic testing ultrasound.
also, mentioned the awful all day sickness and he gave me some samples of diclegis to try.. so im hoping that helps because this past week have been pretty miserable sickness wise.

@dcrumlish29: Yay sounds like a great appointment then!
I had my first regular prenatal appointment today and I have a dating ultrasound scheduled for Monday now. I thought I would have to wait for an ultrasound but since my periods have been irregular they wanted me to have a dating scan sooner.

@jodyblair: I second the soda stream. Maybe also something like Izze sodas?

@dcrumlish29: glad they found your little bean! My cycles are a little longer than normal and it's annoying that they still base everything off 28 days. I mean I get why (and I actually still went into labor on my due date with my first) but the whole time I was pregnant with my first I had two due dates in my head! I think this time I'll just stick with the 28 day one.
@MaryM: glad you were able to get in earlier.
@dominobee: hope everything went well at your appointment.
I just made my first appointment, I still really felt like waiting but glad I called bc otherwise would have been hard to schedule. So that's on 7/25.
Had a couple of waves of nausea today but I don't trust myself that it's not just in my head, ha. Leaving for vacation with my side of family tonight, so hoping that I feel good for another week at least! Though some symptoms would be comforting especially since we're going to tell everyone (there is zero way I could hide it in a family full of beer drinkers and they also knew our timeline for baby 2).

@petitenoisette: How long do you have to fly/drive? Either sounds awful with nausea. I'm hoping it holds out for your sake!
I've got a 5 hour drive on Saturday (and back on Sunday). I already called shotgun!!!

@dominobee: grow babies grow! Such exciting news. How are you and your husband dealing with the news?
pear / 1553 posts
@snarkybiochemist: Shocked, thrilled, terrified... hahaha. Mostly just really happy that both are measuring well (6 and 7mm) and have strong heartbeats (117 and 124 bpm).
I had a different u/s tech this time and the one I had last time wanted to come in for the news! Haha! It was nice to have so much support.
These are the first grandchildren on both sides and our moms are going to FREAK. OUT.

@dominobee: So all the things that one would expect to feel when twins are confirmed after infertility. Awesome heartbeats for 6+3

@dominobee: OMG exciting!! I've always thought it would be so neat to have twins!

@skate13: I literally NEVER thought I would have twins until a couple weeks ago when she was like "ohhh I see a little something else, but it's too soon to tell." That and my HCG being through the roof!

@theotherstark: Next appointment is with the midwives at our local women's hospital on 7/19!!

@dominobee: so so exciting I'm so new to all of this that I don't even know what HCG is...I'll need to go look that up lol
@theotherstark: I am scheduled for my first appointment with my OBGYN on 7/6 and I'm so excited to have my first ultrasound that day! Maybe things will start to feel a little more real then- kind of feels like I'm dreaming right now haha

@dominobee: Congrats!
I told DH a few months ago I wouldn't mind if we had twins, and his head just about fell off.
