@MaryM: LOL! Mine is giddy. He's a man of extremes. I think he's also looking forward to being a SAHD for a few years. His salary is less than the cost of daycare for two.

@LadyDi: just have to get through the weekend and you'll get to see the babe! That's exciting.. I was really nervous going into my appt, but glad everything looked good so far! Good luck to you!

@dominobee: Congrats on twins!! You're predictions were correct! I've been so sick this last week (much different from my last pregnancy where I'd had sickness, just not all day sickness) so I thought maybe I'm having twins, but only one baby in there!
Glad the hubby is so excited too!

@petitenoisette: Yes! That's exactly what I've got going on in my head now - Since they aren't changing my due date I'm kind of like well im 8 weeks 2 days.. but really I'm only 7 weeks 5 days ha.. in the grand scheme of things 4 days won't matter.. but right now they do!!

I officially graduated my RE and have a regular OB appt on 7/18! The graduation scan was great, measuring at 7w5d and with a 163 heartbeat.
Still keeping the news underwraps. Going to be hard this weekend, I'm visiting my very good friends from college.

@CatchAFallingStar: Holy moly!! Have you had a blood draw yet? What's your HCG at?
coffee bean / 45 posts
@CatchAFallingStar: if we go my lmp then I'm 8 weeks 2 days; but I'm measuring 7 weeks 5 days which makes sense with my 32 day cycle. They didn't change my due date (based off a 28 day cycle) since it's only a 4 day difference.

@theotherstark: two appts in July. July 24th and July 26th! Counting down because both of them are ultrasounds!

@theotherstark: Could I be listed without a number after my name?
I don't really consider this my first child because two of them have been far enough along that I've buried them. And I held one of them. But it's also not quite accurate to call it number 4 when there are no children at home.
And appointments for me are July 7 and 17

@dcrumlish29: got it, thanks! Is one the NT scan? They're so close together!

@MaryM: of course. I wasn't sure what to put, so thank you for letting me know

@theotherstark: if that means the genetic screening test then yes it's the NT scan (24th) and then the 26th is my monthly ob appt.

Anyone else having a hard time not thinking ahead? Rationally I'd like to wait it out until some good USs and/or the first trimester but since I'm on summer break I guess I have some mental space to fill and thankfully it's not with anxiety currently. Plus, thinking ahead is like the default setting for my brain soooo.... I'm thinking nursery stuff, childcare, brainstorming ideas.... we already have names. Anyone else?

@DesertDreams88: As of yesterday I feel like I need to start thinking ahead, since twins often come early. The biggest things we need to do are buy a second car and prepare a nursery for two! I'm telling my family in person in 3 weeks and I'm sure my mom will help out a lot with planning and all the STUFF we need to buy! And she or my aunt will probably throw us a baby shower where I'm sure we'll be gifted with all the junk we could ever dream of owning. Guess it might be worthwhile to start researching and making a registry. But really I'm just trying to take it day by day to get through the nausea!

@DesertDreams88: I have been frantically searching for a new/bigger car since I knew we were trying for 3#. haha. DH and I had a date night last night and I made him go and look at the new Honda Pilots after we finished dinner! I also already know what we need to buy for this LO and have a few ideas for the room, etc. It's going to depend on whether or not we move my oldest to a different room and he hasn't decided if he wants to do that yet. I'm also excited to tell my kids about the baby but plan to wait until at least the genetic testing is back to do that (hopefully 1st week of Aug at the latest).

How many RE appointments do you all have before moving to the OB? (If you had an RE)
nectarine / 2809 posts
@dominobee: hey hon- what were your HCG numbers? I'm sure I could find your post, but... lazy!
pear / 1553 posts
@CatchAFallingStar: I had three RE appointments. One was just betas at 4w2d. One was betas and u/s at 4w4d. The last one was u/s and discharge at 6w3d.
HCG was 1164 at 4w2d and 4297 at 4w4d. They didn't do any bloodwork yesterday.

Hi ladies! Back from vacation with a nasty cold Was finally able to schedule my first appointment for July 12 when I'll be 7w2d but they are going to think I should be around 9 weeks with my lmp date... Which makes me a little anxious. I'm pretty confident in my O date though so we'll see!
Haven't quite started feeling nauseous yet which is good but I'm only 5w4d so I'm sure it's coming. I have been super tired and hungry lately, though! And my boobs are getting huge already and sore. And this cold is definitely far worse than it should be which sucks.

@dominobee: I wonder if you have girls.... girls are more likely to have higher HCG It seems clear from the US that they have separate amniotic sacs, but when will you find out if they share a placenta? I know that might up the risk / # of appts.

@dominobee: wow, twins!! How exciting! Congratulations!! The thought of twins terrifies me lol
pear / 1553 posts
@DesertDreams88: If I remember correctly the u/s tech said they each have their own placenta. She called it "the safest kind of twins," and said they are fraternal, which means they definitely each have a placenta.
@Freelikewater: It terrifies me too! Mostly I am concerned about pre-term labor. Also selfishly thinking about how much weight I'll have to gain - and if I'll ever be able to lose it again.
