You can't even see baby's head in this one but I thought it was so cute that its legs were crossed
Eta: I'm seeing something between the legs that is making me think boy...

@travellingbee: Yay! Glad you got to have your ultrasound today. I hope the zofran gives you some relief.

I feel like I'm so far behind you guys! I don't have my first appointment until next Friday, which is just an appointment with the NP at the office. My first ultrasound isn't until the 3rd of July!
I have a cold which may be turning the corner into sinus infection territory - I have a low-grade fever today and my sinuses are killing me. I'm not sleeping more than a few hours a night because post-nasal drip is keeping me awake. I feel awful. I finally broke down and took some Tylenol an hour ago because I just couldn't take it anymore, even though I try to avoid medications in the 1st trimester. Ugh.

@cvwood: me too. I threw up twice last night. I feel better about taking it this far into the pregnancy (rather than early 1st tri) The doctor said it's perfectly safe, anyway and it worked well with my first pregnancy.

@littlebug: oh no! I'm so sorry you feel so sick. Hopefully it passes quickly.
I'm one of the earliest Jan due dates... I was middle of the month with my son and I remember being bummed that most of the moms in my due date group were way ahead. At this point a couple weeks is a big deal but later, it isn't, you know?

@littlebug: You might call your doctor and ask about the safety of taking Mucinex (the plain kind, not D). I get a lot of sinus infections and it helps me dramatically. (I haven't taken it while pregnant, but did rely on it more when I started cutting out other drugs while TTC)
hostess / papaya / 10219 posts
@MaryM: Oh yes mucinex was approved for me for pregnancy.

@travellingbee: AHHH, great US and update! Glad you were able to go in today despite the nasty weather.

@travellingbee: I was middle of the month with D and felt like I was on track. And yeah, I know as we get later in pregnancy it won't matter so much. It just feels like July 3rd is SO FAR AWAY right now!!!
@MaryM: The nurse said Mucinex and Sudafed (from behind the counter) were ok, even this early in pregnancy. She just said if the fever persists, I need to see my PCP.

@littlebug: Well, I hope I goes super quick for you. And that you feel better soon.

@kristinleigh: Too bad about your appointment, it is important to have a provider you mesh with. I turned down all genetic testing both pregnancies, and my OB never gave me a hard time, even though I am 35.
@JoyfulKiwi: For me, it made me feel better that there had not been a missed miscarriage. But you are getting close to the point where you can hear the heartbeat externally, it might not be as important.
@travellingbee: Congrats, that is a great ultrasound. I hope you feel better.
I have also had a headache, more or less since Sunday at exactly 9 weeks, but I suspect it is allergy related.

I have my prenatal workup appt this Thursday and on Friday they're sending me to an imaging center for an ultrasound to check the growth & heartbeat, and monitor an ovarian cyst I have.... Since it's a imaging center, I don't know if the tech will explain the results, usually they're not supposed to, they're just supposed to send my obgyn a report within 5 business days.... but I will definitely be trying to look at the screen myself! I am pretty sure I know generally what a 9 week ultrasound should look like, thanks to Dr. Google
I'm somewhat nervous about the ultrasound, obviously... I just want to get out of the first trimester already. Then maybe it will feel more real and secure!

@DesertDreams88: I hope you'll luck out with a nice sonographer. Mine isn't afraid to tell me what she sees, and I really appreciate that. I would hate having to hear it from a doctor (even though they're in the same office so it's usually not that long). She'll never really tell me what something means or how it is treated, but she's never been afraid to tell me when she thought I was miscarrying, how big my cysts were, or that I had an SCH.
And thank you

First time mothers, are you doing anything for DH for father's day?
I feel like I should since he gave me a mother's day card (we'd just found out and I was still terrified), but I feel weird doing something because I feel obligated and not because it was an original idea. lol
clementine / 828 posts
@MaryM: When I was pregnant with my first, DH did some stuff for me for Mother's Day (card and flowers) but I did not do anything for him for Father's day. This seemed fair because I was pregnant, and he was continuing his life more or less like normal.
grapefruit / 4361 posts
@marym: I thought about getting him a card last night but I decided not to. My DH is realllyyy emotionally sensitive and has a history of depression; so I've been trying to protect him from getting overly-invested in case something happens. Maybe if the US is good on Friday I will reconsider.

@DesertDreams88: I think I'm the one in our relationship trying to get too invested...
but yeah. Maybe it will hinge on the US.
Plus I just realized my mom will be visiting this weekend so maybe it would be awkward, so I'm guessing I won't do more than leave a card on the toilet like he did for me (I guess he wanted to make sure I found it as soon as I woke up? lol)

I guess it's time I posted here!
Location: Ontario, Canada.
EDD: January 11 2016 as of right now. Subject to change since my LMP isn't reliable due to irregular cycles and I've only had one ultrasound (They say with 2 they should be able to accurately tell how far along I am).
How far along: Currently 10w2d
First child? Second! My DD is 9.5 months old.
First doctor appointment: I've already had a few appointments. One to confirm pregnancy and another for an ultrasound at 7 weeks. My next appointment is next week to schedule 12-week ultrasound.
Any symptoms so far? A little bit nauseated and I had my first bout of heartburn last night. Overall feeling much less sick than with DD so far!
Who have you told? So far we've told close family. We announced over brunch with a "big sister" t-shirt on LO! My DH has told a few other people, but I wish he wouldn't have until 12 weeks. He's terrible at keeping secrets!

@MaryM: Last father's day when I was still pregnant with DD I did get DH a simple card.

@MaryM: I am. Something small though. We have this thing with those little "Love Is..." comic strips so he found the "Love is what you've created" and it's the one of them with the girl pregnant and he framed it which was sweet. So now I feel the pressure is on!

10 weeks today This has simultaneously been the longest few weeks of my life and yet the quickest! I found out at 3 weeks, 3 days and it was dragging at first, now looking back on it I can't believe how far I've come! We are announcing on Monday (the 22nd) since we feel comfortable enough to at this point with everything looking good so far. I am waiting for my genetic screening blood work to come back still, but that's not going to change my status anyway.

@pui: welcome!
US went great. Baby measured three days bigger than last time, so still a few smaller than our original EDD, but that's what we're sticking with. So I'm 10 weeks tomorrow. I go back in 3 weeks for a physical.
I was so excited I got to keep my pants on, and we got to hear the heartbeat. 183 bpm.
We even got a wave! (Sorry it's sideways)

@MaryM: OMG, fantastic update. Love seeing these ultrasounds!
I'm doing something simple for DH on his first (!!!) Father's Day. Probably just a simple card and baking a small coffee cake - I'm too tired to think of much else right now!

@SERA_87: Can you remove me from your list of January Moms? Despite hearing a healthy heartbeat at @ 7 weeks, I started to spot a week later. When I had a second ultra sound, no heartbeat could be detected. We are obviously very sad, but it helps to have our beautiful son to distract us!
Ladies, best of luck with your pregnancies!
