@kristinleigh: awesome. Our LO was delivered there but we recently moved out of state! Think you will really love going with a midwife practice. And so exciting you guys will announce soon!
@pui: welcome!!! Congrats!
We had our first ultrasound today and saw the wonderful little heartbeat, brain development and the little nugget waving its tiny hands. Looks like a tiny gummy bear at this point. I'm measuring right on track at 9w5d and edd is still mid January. We elected to get the NT scan (I feel like it's standard procedure and we got one with our first, so why not) on July 7th so that will be our next ultrasound.
I'm finally starting to feel better. I will be honest, the last three weeks were pure hell and I was truly getting depressed. Never felt so terrible in my life! But things are so much better and I feel like I'm finally coming out of the fog. We will probably start telling our friends now since our families already know.

@Alba4: I'm so sorry. But I'm glad you've got a toddler to keep you occupied. I hope you've been able to take good care of yourself and spend lots of time with him since your loss.

So as of this weekend, our entire extended family knows we are pregnant (I'm 11 weeks) and I announced at work today. I've had creative announcements for every group of people I've told so far, so I"m proud of myself haha. So today at work, I filled these cups I got from Amazon up with munchkins since I'm obsessed with donuts, and I put little signs on them. A lot of people cried and were happy... it was fun
We'll probably do a social media post tonight or tomorrow. It feels good not to hide it anymore!
I did find out this weekend though that my SIL (who I am not exactly close/friendly with) is pregnant with her second and due 2 days before me. Kind of irritated me, but I'm getting over it now!

Ok first a little background: in January I found out I was pregnant and then developed a CVST (blood clot in the brain). They put me on injectable blood thinners and miscarried 3 days later at 7-8 weeks (after getting confirmation that the fetus had a heartbeat). I highly suspect it was the blood thinners that contributed to the miscarriage, although medically I know that's highly suspect. Fast forward to the end of April and another MRI which confirmed the blood clot had resolved itself.
May 6th I found out I was pregnant again; within 3 weeks the symptoms - although not as severe as in January - had reappeared. I spent Saturday in the ER with severe head pain and was sent for another MRI, which confirmed the clot was back. The course of treatment is, again, injectable blood thinners.
Basically all that to say I'm hoping that because this pregnancy is farther along that the injections won't cause a miscarriage. Gulp.
Good thoughts would be appreciated if you could spare some.

@sera_87: that is scary but maybe the first was just a coincidence. What blood thinners are you on?
pomegranate / 3604 posts
@raintreebee: innohep. Apparently it won't cross the placenta so it's safe for pregnancy.

@sera_87: just try to trust the doctors on this one. I'll be thinking of you.

@kristinleigh: Oh my gosh, that is super cute! Feels good to get it all out in the open, doesn't it?

@kristinleigh: oh what a cute idea!! It must be so exciting to have the wonderful news out

@sera_87: I definitely understand your fear but like you said, you are further along and the doctors truly believe it is safe. Perhaps your OB/midwife will be willing to bump up your next ultrasound or do an additional unplanned one, for peace of mind, after treatment has started??
@kristinleigh: love this idea, and love donut munchkins!! Might have to steal this idea bc we've got 3 family announcements coming up in less than two weeks, and I wasn't sure what to do

@sera_87: I would trust the doctors. Positive thoughts are with you xoxox

@smith: YES! Such a relief. We got some weird looks when people asked how far along I was but whatever. I know people who have announced much earlier.

@DesertDreams88: Go ahead! I got the little cups off Amazon.. they're actually cupcake containers. DH went simpler and we just got him a box of munchkins and put the little sign on the whole box so people can just grab what they want. I was worn out after making 25 tags lol, I wasn't about to cut out more!

@sera_87: how long do you have to do the injections for? and did you start already? are the monitoring your PT/INR levels?

I feel like it will be a relief to tell work, and I am having trouble dressing to hide the pregnancy. I plan to tell in 2 weeks when I am 12 weeks, although I realize the date is pretty arbitrary. I have already told my parents, and will tell most of DH's family this weekend.
Also, my feet are growing already. They grew over a full size last pregnancy, but not until much later, at least 32 weeks.

@MDF106: Dressing to hide stinks and I am so happy to finally done with it! It is starting to get difficult to "suck it in" at 10 weeks. I am not working right now, so work hasn't been a concern. At this point, when we see people, either they know already, or we're telling them right away when we see them.

I just realized I never updated. Finally had my appointment and got to hear the baby's heartbeat! The heart rate was 173. My midwife wasn't going to do the doppler originally, saying she still felt it was too early, but I asked and promised not freak if she couldn't find it (lets not lie now, I would have freaked...) So I am super relieved and cant wait until my next appointment in July and for this ever present nausea to over.

@SwanSong: nice!
@sera_87: Hope everything works out fine...
@kristinleigh: cute idea!
@SupernovaJ: glad you're feeling better! I'm jealous!
AFM, I'm 12 weeks today and have my NT scan on Wednesday. Just got back from a trip which was nice, but exhausting and I've been feeling worse and worse. I've thrown up 3 times ( and dry heaved several other times) in the past 24 hours. I have been trying to go easy on the zofran because it is brutal on the constipation and that becomes just as bad... Ugh. I'm so glad everything is ok with our nugget but man, I do not like pregnancy at all. On happy news- we find out the gender this week!! Our blood work should be back by the end of the week. Yay!
pomegranate / 3604 posts
@kristinleigh: I'm thinking they'll want me to continue injections until 6wks pp or until the clot resolves itself. I'm definitely on them the remainder of the pregnancy though.

I'm freaking out. I got my genetic testing back and surprisingly I am a carrier for SMA. So DH has to get tested tomorrow morning, then they say it takes another week to get the results back. If he is a carrier, then I get CVS done. I'm trying not to freak out, the nurse didn't seem too worried (but I know that's her job) but I work as a pediatric nurse and see lots of babies with SMA so that's just in my head now. I'm praying he is not a carrier at all and has the 2 or 3 copies that they said he needed.
apricot / 369 posts
@kristinleigh: I'm sorry Kristin - that sounds really stressful The good news is that it is very unlikely your husband is also a carrier. I am sending positive thoughts your way and hoping for good news soon
cherry / 178 posts
@lauren0817: Thank you I wish i didn't even get the testing done, but now at least my child will know if he/she is a carrier at least. I hope it's rare for him to be a carrier, but I saw the rate is a 1/35 chance that someone is a carrier which is crazy high to me. Neither of us have any known family history. I just can't believe we have to wait a whole week to get the results.

@kristinleigh: sorry for the added stress. Fingers crossed and prayers that all turns out alright!

Hi ladies! I had my NT scan this morning and everything looked great! I am sooo happy and relieved Even though everything looked great today, our doctor offered us the Harmony blood test as an added reassurance because of my previous miscarriage. My previous pregnancy was 45,X and the Harmony test is able to look at the sex chromosomes as well. I'm just wondering if anyone has done both tests and what their experiences were with the blood test part. I am excited to find out the gender early, but just hope more testing doesn't equal more anxiety

Hey girls! My mom was in town and I was off work, so I took a bit of a break from the internet for a long weekend.
DH had some friends over and we ended up telling a few more people (BIL and one friend-couple) and then I FINALLY got together with a friend who'd due in November yesterday and was able to let her know her baby boy has a BFF on the way. She cried. I loved it
@kristinleigh: I might steal your munchkin idea. We have those quite often at work, so it would be fun to see if anyone even noticed if I put a sign on the box.
but then again I might not "announce" at work (other than telling my team one on one) because I have a very inappropriate coworker I don't want to deal with...
@kristinleigh: and @sera_87: Good thoughts and prayers for you both!
While my mom was in town, we went dressing for some roomier clothes.
Is anyone else not a fan of skin tight maternity clothes? I'm a size 16/18/XL normally, and when I tried on maternity clothes, they were as tight if not tighter than my normal every day clothes. We ended up buying flowier normal clothes because the maternity ones were ridiculous looking.
