@sera_87: I can't believe your doc said that! Seriously awful. I'm going to be getting extra monitoring because this baby was conceived a little too close to my last (a c-section.) hopefully the clot goes away soon and the extra monitoring just means extra time with the baby.
As far as my leave I'm going to try to go back in October but stack some saved vacation time to get me to 600 hours. It's tough because there are only three people in my office. My boss is kind of screwed.

@sera_87: That's one insensitive doctor! good riddance!
@oliviaoblivia: I'm high risk because I'm elderly LOL

@travellingbee: if this baby was due one month later I'd be elderly too. better than being a teen mom?

@travellingbee: oh what a cute pic! Haha I didn't even ask for the gender guess since my doctor already warned me that they are usually wrong at this stage. Will your blood test tell you the gender?

@sera_87: oh I'm so sorry - that's terrible that the dr said that!! How are doing with your treatment?
apricot / 369 posts
@sera_87: this is totally minor (and definitely no need to update now!), but my due date is actually January 6th. I think I had a slight miscommunication with my doctor and thought the 5th for some reason! My dates are pretty exact since I had IVF so not sure where I got the 5th from

@smith: haha I think I'm losing my mind - I can't find the bump thread is there a link that I can use? I need to take a pic this weekend. I think I'm still more bloat than bump but sometimes by the end of the day I feel huge!

@lauren0817: No worries! It's over on the main due date board. But here's the link! http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/january-2016-bumps I'm still mostly bloat, too ... until I want to hide it for a bit longer, then it's IMPOSSIBLE to suck in!

@smith: great thank you! Yeah my bloat/bump is very noticeable when I'm trying to hide it as well I need new pants/shorts asap!

Welcome to all the new moms in the group!
I think I'm officially losing my mind. I just went to take lunch. Yep. Half my lunch is definitely sitting on the counter at home. It's a good thing I pack a shitload of snacks since I never know what I'll feel like eating!
And my flight home from a conference was canceled on Saturday. I asked the guy at the ticket counter what he suggested hotel wise, and after calling DH to let him know he didn't have to pick me up, I totally couldn't remember which hotel he suggested.
Considering I'm the person at work that everyone counts on for remembering things, this could get interesting...

@MaryM: HA! This weekend, I put a container of cauliflower in the cabinet and the empty containers in the fridge. Luckily, I found it just a few minutes later. I also almost put the butter away in the pantry. Ugh. Pregnancy brain.
Had my first appt on Friday, with the NP. I didn't think they would do an ultrasound, but she did a quick one (no measurements). So I got to see the little gummy bear! S/he was moving around a bit, which the NP says is a sign of good neurological development. Yay! This Friday we have the dating ultrasound, and Hubs and D are coming with me for that. Anyone else taking older siblings to their ultrasounds? I probably normally wouldn't, but our appointment is on 7/3, so daycare is closed for the 4th of July holiday. He'll either be completely enthralled or totally freaked out.

@littlebug: I took DS to my dating ultrasound. It was tough, because he has been going through a mommy phase, and wanted me to hold him during the ultrasound, and during my examination afterwards. He had just had a doctor's appointment with a blood test, which I think exacerbated his reaction. He was 21 months at the time. On the plus side, it prevented me from worrying about the results as much as I would have, because I was focused on him. I wanted DH there, so DS needed to be there too. DH works part time with a long commute, so it made sense to do it on a day off.
We told my in laws, and they were really excited. Last time DH told them over the phone due to timing, so it was nice to see their happy reactions.

@littlebug: DS came with us to my first OBGYN spot and he was very ansty. My DH was so distracted by trying to handle DS that he didn't really get to focus on the ultrasound. Our daycare was closed that day too.

13 weeks today! Still feeling terrible. Wump wump. A question: is anyone crazy sore? My tummy/uterus is so sensitive- everything feels like it's squeezing it- seatbelt, pants, underwear... I want to wear loose dresses with no underwear all the time. Classy.
pomelo / 5129 posts
@travellingbee: I wouldn't say I'm crazy sore, but I wake up pretty sore. I must roll/twist oddly at night. And I think we need a new mattress.
Some underwear drives me nuts. And I did buy the next size bigger pants because some of mine were super uncomfortable during my evening commute. The bigger pants are a little baggy, but so worth it since I can breath easily all day! and since they aren't tight, I think they also help hide my bump.
hostess / papaya / 10219 posts
@MaryM: I'm firmly in maternity pants and even they are uncomfortable.
pomelo / 5129 posts
@travellingbee: Have you tried lower rise things?
I found a pair of shorts that are low rise (I usually stay far away from low rise! lol) and they've ended up being the most comfortable thing since they sit below my tummy. Underwear is the same. My briefs and boy shorts are hell, but the looser waisted bikinis feel much better
hostess / papaya / 10219 posts
@MaryM: yeah.... I wonder if it's the constipation from the zofran that's making me so uncomfortable. I need loose granny panties. LOL The low ones I keep tugging up because they feel too tight on my lower abdomen.
pomelo / 5129 posts
@travellingbee: It could be. I was WAY more uncomfortable the week I was backed up.
I normally hate fake fiber and supplements (I have a super sensitive stomach), but I've been taking these and LOVE them. http://www.drugstore.com/vitafusion-fibercalcium-prenatal-support-gummy-vitamins-pomegranate-and-orange/qxp484534
If I go a few days without one I definitely feel it. But they seem to be working gently. I'm not sure if they might help or if you need something stronger
clementine / 828 posts
@travellingbee: I know there is such a thing as maternity underwear, that might help. I am uncomfortable in anything tight, like most real pants.

@marym & @travellingbee: low rise and stretchy material has been my best friend! I need to buy new underwear, next. I'm planning on buying my standard VS ones just a size up, hopefully that will work for awhile.
I haven't worn pants or jeans in 2 months (110+ degree weather here) but we're going to the midwest for two weeks starting this Saturday. How uncomfortable is unbuttoned jeans + a belly band? That was my main clothing plan....

Also, I had a great ultrasound today! We even got video of the baby moving, and my doctor explaining and pointing out the various parts of the body. Here will be our announcement for next week (12 weeks). We're telling my ILs in person on Sunday/Monday, and announcing on FB the next day bc we need to let my huge extended family know before we see them the following Saturday for my cousin's grad party (don't want to steal the spotlight, per se.) My husband and I are both teachers, so we went with this...

@MaryM: @travellingbee: I've been having underwear drama (mine aren't really uncomfortable, just annoying in that the tops keep rolling down, thanks to bloat) and a friend just suggested Hanky Panky underwear - she wore them all throughout her pregnancy and swears by them, then wore them AFTER her pregnancy & still swears by them!

Had our 12-week ultrasound this afternoon: Baby's legs were kickin' like crazy, heartbeat was 166, and I only barfed once today. A TOTAL WIN!
hostess / papaya / 10219 posts
@smith: good to know! I'll check em out! And aw what a cutie! Yay! I didn't puke at all today (but still felt gross!) still a win!
GUYS!!! I felt the baby kick tonight!!!! Very distinct! I was laying on my right and he kicked on my lower right, near my hip bone, like 6 times! At 13 weeks! I felt DS at like 16 weeks and I thought that was early!

@DesertDreams88: so cute! Jealous of your printing skillz, I gotta say

@travellingbee: I like the VS Pink boy shorts, I buy a bunch one size bigger for pregnancy. I think they're cut lower since they're marketed to college kids, so they allow for a little more belly. I'm with you, though. I'm pushing my scrubs waaaay down, but they still cut into me if my bloat rolls the wrong way. If my ultrasound looks good today, I'm giving up on hiding my belly and getting out the maternity scrubs. Also with you on the constipation. I feel like that's where half of my weight gain is coming from!
@marym: I forgot that I had invited my parents over for dinner on Sunday and then cried when my mom gently reminded me. I was so confused and I just wanted to stay on the couch! My brain is gone.
pomelo / 5129 posts
@smith: Great scan!
OMG, I gave myself a horrible headache last night! I finally watched the Fault in our Stars. I read the book so I thought I was prepared. Nope. Started crying halfway through and pretty much never stopped. lol

@DesertDreams88: Where are you going in the midwest? A lot of the midwest is uncomfortably humid in the summer, even if the temperatures are not too high.
@travellingbee: @MaryM: I have some target Gillian & O'Malley underwear that worked throughout last pregnancy. I think the key is being really low rise.
@smith: @DesertDreams88: Congrats on the great ultrasounds.
@travellingbee: I can't believe you felt the baby kick already. Last time, I did not feel kicking until 23 weeks (I had an anterior placenta).
