@gracecat: you know what ? As soon as I get on the table and see the heart beating I instantly relax. (Although is it bad to say I'm completely over ultrasounds? Lol. I don't even really look anymore).

@lauren0817: weeellll. He only grew 40 grams between the last two ultrasounds so I think I have another month (at least? Or longer?) until 500. He really IS a fighter though - you know when you just get a sense of who your baby is? Lo1 was stubborn and truthfully kind of misery-inducing
Lo2 was STRONG and loud and in charge.
Lo3 just really wants to be here. I can feel that.

*shrug* I've mostly made my peace with it; que sera etc. I cannot lend that much of my mental state to anxiety/fear. I wouldn't be able to ever get out of bed if I did.

@travellingbee: I have an appointment in 4 weeks and then I start every two weeks. Crazy! Every time I see something about "the holidays" I get freaked out/excited that they will be here before you know it and that means the baby will too!! yikes

Just got home from my 25wk appointment and they want me to do my GD test tomorrow! ugh!! Well, they really want me to do it next week, but I'll be traveling all next week (which, they knew....), and Thursday & Friday are parent teacher conferences, so.... tomorrow it is! Fingers crossed!! I pretty much only eat breads and dairy, so being diagnosed would make eating very difficult. I've been testing my blood sugar about once a week though and it's always been ok. I started testing back when I started metformin for PCOS, and stopped the metformin around 13 weeks.

In terms of nursery items, I'm definitely getting anxious about how full / chaotic the "nursery" (AKA totally messed up office) is. It's chock full of hand-me-down items and a couple things I picked up on our local swip swap Facebook groups, and it's all such a blessing, but I need to organize it! ugh! but I can't do that until Thanksgiving break. So much to do. Our list is literally a page long in size 12 font, single-spaced. My ILs have mentioned a couple of times,"Please let us know how we can help," and so yesterday we actually asked them if they'd consider flying here for Thanksgiving Break / DH's bday / helping set up the nursery and do some heavy-duty household tasks I can't help DH with. They're looking into flights.

@Sera_87: What a trooper!! Keep growing, little man!

@sera_87: I love that you get such a sense of your babies during pregnancy Hoping for good news at your next ultrasound! I am so inspired by your outlook - I have been letting fear get me down recently and appreciate the reminder that it doesn't have to be that way

@DesertDreams88: how do your GD test go?

I totally understand about the nursery - we haven't made much progress yet, but I'm just trying to keep working away slowly

Speaking of the GD test - did anyone receive special instructions from their doctor about preparing for the test? Am I supposed to eat or not eat anything in the days leading up to the test? My test will either be next Wednesday or Thursday depending on whether they do it at my appt or I have to go to the lab for the test. Thanks ladies!

@lauren0817: I had mine on Monday morning. I called on Friday to double check that I didn't need to fast and they said that I was fine to have a light breakfast. All went well and I passed. Good luck!

@Worrywart: awesome - thank you! My appointment is at 1:15 so I guess I'll eat a filling late breakfast and wait for lunch until after the test? I'll probably be all ready to go and then they'll have me go to the lab on Thursday anyway

@DesertDreams88: Random question- do you always only eat bread and dairy or is it a pregnancy thing? Do you have allergies? Just curious.

@lauren0817: I had mine this morning and didn't do anything special. I actually skipped breakfast, but it wasn't intentional, I was just running late and then enjoyed a quiet kid free breakfast by myself after the test was over.
For my first test I think I had eggs and whole grain toast, for my second it was later in the day and I just ate whatever I felt like eating. I had no trouble passing either time.

I had my 1hr GTT yesterday. Ate my usual 2 hard boiled eggs. Apparently my office uses the lower end of the standard normal 130 instead of 140. My value was 132! And due to my first pregnancy (this is my 3rd) being borderline GD I have to move on to the 3 hr. Boo. Good luck to everyone who is on track to taking your 1 hr. My advice from my nurse was to stick to protein and water that morning. No special modifications in the days prior.
Otherwise baby is doing well. It was thumping the U/S tech yesterday when she would press down for her views. Hopefully a gender reveal this weekend. Happy almost Friday Y'all.

@lauren0817: I was told to eat normally until I drink the drink. Last time my appointment was around lunch time, and I ate oatmeal for breakfast, and a snack of nuts and a cheese stick. I passed, but found out I had low iron. The breakfast was normal for me and the snack was lower in carbs than typical for me.

I am not nesting. I never nested last time, although DH did. We plan to move DS to his big boy room soon, but don't have too many other big changes. I am too busy with work to even think about nesting.

So I worked a TON on the nursery today and I am POOPED!! I took out all the old newborn and 0-3 month stuff and organized them, the blankets and burp clothes etc. then I started a little decorating. I hung these "lanterns" for a pop of color.

Thanks ladies for the tips about the GD test! Hoping mine goes well this week I am slightly nervous since in the past two weeks I have this insatiable thirst and just cannot drink enough water - of course I googled this and saw it is a sign of GD. I'm hoping I'm just very thirsty though fingers crossed!

@travellingbee: wow looks great! My mom and hubby are painting the nursery today, but I have been evicted so I have no idea how it looks so far Hopefully I picked the right color after my nine (eekk!!!) sample pots!

    @travellingbee: Looks adorable!

I just came back from my GD test this morning. I did have one small bite of DH's bagel, a single candy corn, and a sip of coffee with milk about 2 hours before the test. I hope I didn't screw everything up! Oh well, we'll see!

It's funny to me how different doctors give such different information regarding fasting for the GD test. Mine says I have to fast.

I found myself in L&D last week. Wednesday all day I just didn't feel good. My belly felt very heavy and I was having some pressure and cramping way down in my pelvis. I called the office and they told me to go to L&D to get checked. So I spent a few hours hooked up to the monitor. Everything was fine - no contractions, clean urine, etc. So probably just my muscles and ligaments stretching faster than last time because they've been there, done that. I bought a new support belt that will hopefully help when I'm on my feet a lot, and I'm trying to pick up my son a little bit less (which is SUPER hard, because he has a major Mama-preference right now).

Well, I've had a busy couple of days! Cross-country baby shower on Sunday (can't flight on Thanksgiving or after, and no vacation time before then), and 3D ultrasound today! Baby is looking good and moving a bunch. My mom really surprised me with how detailed she made the shower - the candy bar looked straight out of pinterest! She also had all the guests bring a book instead of a card, which is a "tradition" I love but I didn't feel right suggesting it... but so glad she "discovered" the idea on her own! Most of the gifts were non-registry items, but most were quite practical, and we got some sizable gift cards for the bigger items on our registry. I'll be waiting until Black Friday to purchase those items if need be.

Got my GD test results back and I passed with flying colors! Thank goodness! @travellingbee:, you asked awhile back about my breads-and-dairy diet but I couldn't respond because I was just so busy. I've eaten that way my whole life, I gag and usually throw up most other foods, even if they're "hidden." I get extensive blood tests done every year or so and I always have good results, the 5 doctors I've had throughout my life have never been concerned, and I have good physical health (heart rate, fitness, weight, etc). I truly wish I could eat normally but it's just not happening. Luckily my husband couldn't care less, and his opinion is really the only one that matters to me.

    Here's some photos!

@littlebug: A physical therapist came to talk to my group prenatal class about preventing pain and injury while pregnant. She suggested having your toddler either jump when you go to pick them up or climb on top of something. Basically, the higher you can get them up, the less strain it puts on you. I forget to do it, but it does seem to help when I remember.

  21. littlebug

    honeydew / 7504 posts

@cvwood: Great suggestion. I have found that picking him up from a higher level helps, so if he wants me to carry him up or down the stairs (ugh), I have him to up a step or two, or I go down a step or two, and that really helps. I'll try having him jump, but he's not so great at that yet. But thanks for the tip!

@littlebug: I'm definitely encouraging my son to walk more on his own these days, I feel a little mean but I know I need to plant the seed now so it's not a super hard transition when the baby comes. I try to get him to walk himself into daycare in the morning, I'd say I have about a 30% success rate at this point. Ha. It's hard to say no to him, but there is NO way I can handle him on my hip and a car seat on the other side next year.

@sera_87: Glad that baby is growing and that you're feeling !

So I have a job interview today, and it's not unheard of for it to take six months to get into this type of position (I'll have to get credentialed with insurance companies, and my current job makes you wait until that's done to start, but others don't). I could also, if they really wanted me to, start now with the knowledge that I would be going out on leave in a few months. Their recruiter made me think they want someone to start now.

So, knowing that they aren't allowed to mention my pregnancy, would you all bring it up? I feel like it might be good to put it on the table so I can tell them that I'm flexible, and I'm also just an upfront person in general. But I'm not sure if bringing it up will make me more or less likely to get the job.

  28. mdf106

    clementine / 828 posts

@cvwood: I would probably mention your pregnancy if it is obvious (I am assuming it is). I think being pregnant hurts your chances, but if they already know you are pregnant, mentioning it would only help.

@mdf106: @travellingbee: I think I just read a lot of bad advice on the internet that suggested not bringing it up until you've got a job offer in hand. I thought that sounded shady, and so did everyone else I asked. Luckily, they didn't seem to mind the delay in my potential start date.

@travellingbee: I'm really impressed that you figured that out so early! I'm still poking my belly trying to find individual limbs. I hope he does some rolling soon!

  33. mdf106

    clementine / 828 posts

@cvwood: I think it is good advice to wait to say anything if you are not showing yet, but if everyone knows you are pregnant, it does not accomplish anything.

@travellingbee: It is still early enough with plenty of time for the position to change. That said, I am nervous about this baby being breech, because both my mom and her mom had breech babies for their second pregnancy. They both delivered vaginally.

  34. travellingbee

    hostess / papaya / 10219 posts

@cvwood: well I wasn't sure but I knew for sure where his feet are because I can physically see them poke out when he stretches. And I can feel his head on the other side but wasn't 100% if it was butt or head but it felt like a head the way he moved it. If I poke at it, he moves it over. The doctor felt around and said "yup that's his head there and down here, yup, there's his squishy bottom." but I had such a great delivery with my first and I so wanted that again! I just hope he does as he's told! ETA: I would actually really want to attempt a breech delivery if they'd let me. We'll see.
@mdf106: I know, he does have time to flip but DS was already head down at this point so it's making me nervous a bit.

  35. mdf106

    clementine / 828 posts

@travellingbee: My mom delivered in the ER in case of an emergency, and both of her babies were small and relatively early (23 days early, just over 5 pounds and 16 days early, just over 6 pounds). I know breech vaginal deliveries were much more common then. Her delivery was extremely quick, to the point where I would also be nervous about an accidental vaginal delivery or not making it to the hospital in time.

@travellingbee: mine is also breech! Head under my right ribs. But I am having a repeat c sec so I have the luxury of not having to worry about it, but it still makes me anxious for some reason!! Why!?

Ah heart burn, how I missed you not one bit. Luckily I am sleeping better than I ever have which is very strange to me since I had terrible pregnancy insomnia the first time and had to pee like crazy all night with baby #1.

I have exactly two more months to go! My January baby has turned into a mid December baby somehow. I feel like I am running out of time!

  37. cvwood

    grape / 78 posts

@travellingbee: I know there's only one OB where I live that will do breech delivery, you may have to look around if yours won't.

PSA, y'all. Target has lots of maternity basics on sale on their website right now. Not sure if there's a sale in the store or not, but they have t-shirts and some activewear discounted online.

  39. JoyfulKiwi

@travellingbee: in my yoga class, they recommend moms with breech babies visit spinningbabies.com for positions to help baby move, go swimming & dive down to touch the bottom, rest inverted, & visit a chiropractor. The chiropractor really seems to work! Apparently, it creates more space in the body so the baby can move.

Are any of you planning on "sharing" the nursery with a guest room? We have some home repairs that put our guest room out of service, so either the baby's nursery is a combo or she gets no nursery. (My husband suggested having her share a room with big brother who is 3, but that just seems like a headache waiting to happen!) Any space-saving tips for a two-in-one room?

  40. travellingbee

    hostess / papaya / 10219 posts

@JoyfulKiwi: I have gone to that site and seen what they say to do. Unfortunately, I have a hiatal hernia with acid reflux (medicated but it is still really bad during pregnancy) and that means that the valve from my stomach to my esophagus is wide open and if I go upside down or bend over, my stomach empties into my throat/mouth. Lovely. This makes most of their positions very difficult to do... I will still try to do my best.
