@babypugs: thats a tough one to call.... i'm hedging my bets on a december baby myself but who knows.... @Sunnyday will you just sneeze out #3? @littlecasita1122 with twins will they let you ride it out until your due date? I know a lot of twin moms that delivered at 36-37 weeks

@Chillybear: I'm an '84 baby too! I don't think my mom ever worse dresses though. The only pic of her I've ever seen pregnant with me she was wearing giant overalls and a flannel shirt! Haha. That tailbone pain sounds awful! I am glad you were able to call in some help and hopefully it doesn't get worse again!!

Shoot can't go back and tag people from previous page so I'll have to do another post.

The weekend was crazy. I have a paper due in an hour and finished it only an hour ago. I get a take home final today and tomorrow and am DONE with graduate school. I officially transfer back at real work from graduate school right after Christmas. (They already know about the pregnancy and maternity leave.) In fact, they wondered why I didn't just transfer in April after leave is up.

I am 34 weeks today and PLEASE don't make me go first. My first was two days late and I had no problems with that. I still feel pretty good most of the time. The worst is that my son is still getting over the stomach virus that hit him and me on Thursday (vomiting starting at 4am). We were in the doctor's office making sure that after 5 days diarrhea, he is still good.

Christmas gifts have been bought and wrapped, but there is no decorating done at all. I am also waiting until the semester is over to completely organize so many things. Right now, I don't think I can set up the pack and play in our room and the crib has a bunch of junk in it.

We bought a new car seat for our son, but it is a forward facing combination booster with harness, so I don't want to install it yet. We don't have an infant seat, so I need to put the infant insert back in the convertible seat.

My doctors are very relaxed. I had a 31 week and a 36 week appointment. Other than the Strep B test, I think they will do the standard weight, measurement, and heart rate. I know they won't induce me until at least 41 weeks, if not needed.

I think that catches me up.

@Chillybear: Hm, my midwife practice sends everyone for an ultrasound at 32 weeks to check growth but I haven't heard about it being anything to do with the risk of shoulder dystocia or anything.

As far as who is going to have a baby first, with @Sunnyday being the first due date and it being her third, my money is on her! Definitely - well, hopefully - not me. I'm at the end of the month and I think they have my due date early by a few days.

@Chillybear: LOL on sneezing out #3 because i definitely feel like I'm falling apart down there!!

@Mrs. Toad: Hooray for being done with grad school, huge congrats!!

    @IRunForFun: eeeeek! Haha we'll see.

To throw a wrench, I am waiting on bloodwork that if positive will have me induced NEXT week at 37w. I'm thinking I don't have cholesasis (sp??!) as I'm not itchy on my palms or feet, but absolutely everywhere else. My doc wanted to blood work just to be sure and has me mentally preparing just in case. It's the worst around my neck and upper back. I basically have to have a scalding hot shower at night to ease it and go right to bed!

That aside, I had my first two at 41w and 40+5, so don't think I will be first, ha!!!

Also, in the spirit of our actual due dates and no early early babies (!!!) what are everyone's Christmas plans in terms of travel or get togethers? I told my husband last night I wanted to stay home from everything. We don't have any family functions with dates set yet and will see my parents and grandparents Christmas Day. I just find big group stuff overwhelming at this point and I just don't want to do it group stuff. DHs fam is 20 hours away and that's an easy out.

@Chillybear: Yeah, it could definitely be right around the corner for you!

@Mrs. Toad: Congratulations on finishing! I'm sure that's a huge relief.

@sunnyday: Next week?? Crazy! But yeah, sounds like your body likes to hang on to those babies.

I'm guessing I'll be in the first ten-ish days of January since my first LO was two weeks early, but I'm actually really hoping to make it to my due date this time! We'll see...

@sunnyday: Lots of travel plans on both sides of the family. My husband doesn't seem to think I'm as serious as I am about staying home. I'm with you, I just want to relax and enjoy.

@sunnyday: We are staying close to home. My MIL pitched a fit when we told her we wouldn't be spending the weekend with them at their house, which is a 4 hour drive away. She thinks I'm being ridiculous to want to stay within an hour's drive of my providers/hospital. We offered to have them come to us. My parents live very close to us and our plan was to go to their place for a big dinner Christmas Eve and brunch/presents Christmas Day, but I offered to host dinner for my ILs at our house and skip going to my parents house that night OR my parents also invited them to come for Christmas Eve dinner. As of this past weekend they "had to think about it" because they were still getting used to the idea of us not spending Christmas at their house. 🙄

Also, I hope you don't have cholestatis!!!

@IRunForFun: lol thank you for knowing the actual name and spelling. I have evaded google and honestly haven't looked into it at all. Just prepared for next week in my head, but think it will be a false alarm, but still...the itching is insane. No rash, no visible signs of anything!

@Chillybear: I won't have another ultrasound unless something is wrong. Just a cervical check this week, 35, and then again at 39 weeks.
@Mrs. Toad: so nice to be done!
@sunnyday: next week! Crazy! I have no idea what that is!

We are going to my parents on the 23rd for Christmas with our immediate family. We will spend the night there, they are 45 mins away, since Christmas Eve is the big church, dinner, presents with all of my Dads family and my parents host. We will get home late that night and then spend Christmas Day at home just the three of us. We usually go to the ILs on the 26th( we told them once LO came, we wouldn't be there Christmas Day anymore. Not having her spend Christmas in the car) for a couple days. Glad that we have an excuse not to go this year.

Sorry for being MIA...things have been crazy the past month. Had a pre term labor scare that landed me in the hospital for two nights at 30 weeks. Luckily my contractions stopped and I was only dilated to a 1. Then last week we found out at an ultrasound that Twin A is growing very very small (which we have known since Oct but now he's fallen way below) so they sent me to triage for a NST and more monitoring. The high risk doc decided I didn't need to be induced that day so I went home, but now I'm getting ultrasounds every 3-4 days. I'm 34 weeks now but A is measuring at least a few weeks behind so we are looking at time in the NICU. I have a feeling I'll be induced this week if he hasn't gained any ounces. If they feel he will be better off staying inside a bit more, the longest my doctor would let me go is 37.5 weeks, so we are definitely having babies this month. Nervous but so ready for this to be over, the anxiety is just too much. I'd rather have them being monitored in the NICU 24/7 at this point.

@Chillybear: I'm getting an ultrasound at my 34 week appointment for size/position, which they didn't do with my first!
@sunnyday: we live far away from both sets of family, so we are actually going over to a friend's house for Christmas dinner. otherwise, we will just be enjoying some low key time just the three of us! my husband and I were both able to take off from Christmas to New Years, so we will use that time to FINALLY start doing things for this poor baby 2!

@littlecasita1122: 34 weeks is still pretty awesome for twins! I hope things calm down a bit, or you get those babies out soon!

I will definitely NOT be going first since I'm due Jan 30th and was a week late with my daughter! I'm thinking I will end up with a February baby.

I'm pretty sure I'll have to go that 1st or 2nd week of Jan since I have GD.

I really don't want to see anyone for Christmas lol; I need those couple days to finish prepping everything! We will probably go to both families at some point though since everyone's local.

@littlecasita1122: Oh my goodness! Glad you've been able to keep those babies in there so far! I'll be thinking of you and hoping that, whenever you deliver, both babes are strong and healthy.

@madger: I wouldn't be surprised if I had a Feb baby. I think my true due date is around the 26th and I just feel like I might go late!!

I just had my last hematologist appt before baby comes. My original hematologist left the practice at the end of November because she was moving so I had to see someone new. I wasn't a huge fan. She seemed very unimpressed that I wasn't agreeing to automatic induction because of the clotting disorder. She even left the room to consult with another doctor, which, honestly, they weren't going to get a say since my midwives and MFM agree I don't need to he induced strictly for that reason. Anyway all I really needed from her was blood work and my scrips and it ended up being over an hour at the office. Glad I don't have to see her again during this pregnancy.

@IRunForFun: Ugh, it would have been a bummer if she was pushing for that this late in the game!

  21. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@IRunForFun: what would the reason for the induction be?

  22. IRunForFun

    pomelo / 5509 posts

@Smurfette: I am on daily blood thinner injections but they want the blood thinner out of your system before you deliver due to the increased risk of bleeding, as well as the increased risk of a low platelet count, which could prevent a spinal block if you needed a c-section. (So they'd have to put you totally under if it wasn't out of your system.) So some doctors want to schedule induction so they know exactly when you've stopped blood thinners and how long it's been since your last shot. But I've discussed with my midwives and MFM and I'm switching to a different blood thinner with a shorter half-life beginning at 36 weeks. The minute I feel any signs I've labor I won't do my next injection and it should clear my system within 12 hours of the last injection. So the only real risk is if I very suddenly needed an emergency c-section like right after I did a shot and that's a pretty low risk.

@sunnyday: @babypugs: @Smurfette: @snowjewelz: Thank you. I made sure that I was not going to be giving birth during the graduate school unless a very early birth. I made sure that the IUD was not removed until we could try. Just lucky to get pregnant on the first try.

@littlecasita1122: Good luck with the twins and I am just hoping that they do well, whether on the inside or outside.

We will be seeing family here for graduation on Dec 21. My in-laws will be here for four days next weekend. My parents will be here sometime around graduation, but I don't know how long they will stay. Both sides of the family are in Texas while we are in DC, and I refuse to take a plane at 37 weeks pregnant.

I am 50% effaced but not dilated at all. They did a re-swap to check for GBS, and will just tell me the results at my appointment next week. She said I could go ahead and schedule an induction for 39+ if I wanted to. I said that I would just wait. Will have a cervical check at 38 weeks and then will probably go ahead and schedule one. I really don't want to go past 40 weeks since LO was 8lbs at 39 weeks.

I have been nauseous since last night. Super excited that is back.

  32. IRunForFun

    pomelo / 5509 posts

@Smurfette: Well, hopefully you won't need to schedule an induction! 50% effaced at 35 weeks seems promising since it means some sort of cervical change is already taking place.

So sorry about the return of the nausea. I've been getting queasy on and off but especially at night after dinner. I also think it happens when I'm kind of backed up and haven't gone to the bathroom in a while, I'll feel sick and gross.

Has anyone else been having more mood swings/getting more emotional toward the end here? I feel like I'm going crazy; I'm always cranky on the verge of tears. Yesterday I started crying b/c DH ate the snack size bag of Doritos I wanted with lunch and then I couldn't stop crying. Right now I'm sitting here feeling like crying b/c I don't feel like eating what I had planned for dinner but also going out to grab the cheeseburger I'm craving requires too much energy. And also pants.

    Tell me I'm not alone?

  33. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@IRunForFun: I am so nauseous and have no appetite. I hope this isn't a sign labor is coming.

Yes on the mood swings. I feel awful cause I am having them bad with LO this week. She laid on my belly while I was putting her to bed and I almost started crying. I am so dang tired, hurt, and over it. I really hope DH will be home next week, but since it is the last week he can travel I doubt it. But I need some help, I can't keep doing everything. Which is so hard for me to admit.

  34. IRunForFun

@Smurfette: You poor thing, I hope you are feeling better today!! I can't imagine how you're doing this with a toddler and a DH who is away during the week. Are there any other reinforcements you can call in? You definitely need to and deserve to rest for a bit!

I had a scan with the MFM today. Everything looked good, the baby is still head down and was all over on my left side. S/he is measuring approximately 4 lbs, 6 ozs at 33 weeks, 4 days. According to the doctor if the same growth rate continues and I deliver at 40 weeks baby will be around 7.5 lbs. Could be between 8 and 8.5 if I go late. I'm fine with that! Not too big. They want me to come back in 2 weeks for another scan, but on the sheet they gave me it says I'm scheduled for a biophysical profile. Not sure how that's different than what I've been getting?

  35. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@IRunForFun: I could call my Mom but they are 45 mins away and I feel bad asking for help. I am just going to make DH get the laundry done this weekend so that will help for next week if he is traveling.
Glad that you had a great appointment! 7.5 sounds like a great weight!

  36. littlecasita1122

    persimmon / 1026 posts

@IRunForFun: My bio physicals have focused more on the cord flow and them they were looking for the baby to practice breathing exercises with the diaphragm. They didn't do a full on growth scan and measure all the organs or estimate weight.

@Smurfette: Uggh, almost there my friend, almost! (at least that's what I keep telling myself...)

@IRunForFun: I totally had a bout of depression a couple weeks ago... I'm better now, but I think physically it's just been tough!

Seeing OB today... Will update later!

  38. IRunForFun

    pomelo / 5509 posts

@Smurfette: Ah, I hope DH gets the laundry done then! Do you have to go up and down stairs to do it? I do and it's tough now!

@littlecasita1122: Ah, OK. That makes sense since they were talking about the potential for clots forming in the placenta and preventing proper flow through the cord. How are you and the twins doing? Thinking of you!

@snowjewelz: I'm just so up and down. Yesterday I was really productive and felt more "up" and actually slept last night so that was nice. Hope you have a good appt!!

  39. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@IRunForFun: No luckily the only stairs we have is to/from the basement. I don't usually have to go down there during the week. He is traveling next week but that will be it till the first week of February. Which is crazy!

  40. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

Sigh so they're guessing DD2 is already like 6+ lbs... I haven't been managing my sugars as well this time b/c it's been harder with a toddler. And with work I don't have time to really see the diabetic counselor... I'm gonna try to call and just see if I should go on medication for the next few weeks to try to keep it under control. 3 weeks to go still. The earliest I can get induced is the 29th... I feel like I'm gonna end up having a Dec baby...
