@Pumuckl: It is frustrating! Can't tell if my intuition is telling me something's wrong or I'm a paranoid FTM.

@snowjewelz: Pretty much! She was smiling and "chatting" with the doctor as she was being examined.

@Smurfette: Hooray for LO doing well today! A nap together sounds so sweet. Good luck tomorrow, hang in there!!

@IRunForFun: Ugh this is the worst part of parenting an infant that can't tell you anything! Always worrying and wondering! I guess in this case just trust the dr and keep observing?

@IRunForFun: it gets easier when they can talk and tell you what's wrong. But this no dairy and figuring out poops are hard.

@snowjewelz: Yeah just watch and wait I guess is all I can do! Of course she had a huge blowout in my bed this morning! But she hadn't pooped for like 14 hours so I guess she was due.

@Smurfette: Yeah I kinda feel like her poops haven't gotten better and it's been over a month without dairy! That's why I thought maybe MSPI. Then if it isn't I wonder am I restricting dairy for no reason? Thinking of you today, hope it's going/goes well!

I'm really working on getting DD on a schedule using "The No-Cry Sleep Solution." Her naps are so short for the most part. Put her down in the crib 5 mins ago and hoping she stays asleep.

ETA: I don't have anything against cry it out but I'm doing the no cry sleep solution thing because she's so young.

I'm going to a meeting with my doula network this evening at 6:30 and they all want me to bring her. I'm already stressing over bed time!

@IRunForFun: Many times I find myself asking the baby what the heck the matter is. I agree with @snowjewelz:, if only they could talk!!!!

@IRunForFun: maybe it isn't dairy even. Could be eggs. What do her poops look like? Has the pedi seen them? Have you had any slips in that month? I am just counting me being dairy free for a week now. Since I was eating dairy and not knowing it, aka CFA and in boxed stuff.
What's the No Cry Sleep Solution?

LO went to bed around 8, but then was up a couple times for the paci till 10. Up at 230 to eat, I probably could have given her the paci, cause she can go longer without eating, but I went ahead since I was up. Then she was up at least every hour, sometimes twice an hour. I finally just got up and got ready for work early. I hope it wasn't cause she was over tired from not napping good at day care. Fingers crossed today and tonight are better.

@Smurfette: Yes I've brought several diapers in on 2 occasions. No cry sleep solution is a book that talks you through logging naps and night sleep and everything that happens before and during sleep and then helps troubleshoot issues and come up with a 10 day plan to work on it.

Blah she only lasted 10 mins in the crib.

@IRunForFun: Is it still a lot of mucus or smaller amounts? Any blood?
These babies. Why don't they get how great naps are.

@Smurfette: Have a good day at work!

Uggh I have a training from 2-5... I pumped "early" at 10 and will pump soon at 1 and then will just have to wait till I go home to nurse!

  11. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@snowjewelz: I hate when meetings are when you need to pump. I got three requests this morning and that was the first thing I looked at the time, before what it was even about.

  12. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@Smurfette: I know! I'm convinced that's what killed my supply last time! And I had already tried my best to pump in the car; pump during a one on one mtg (after checking with female coworker); pumped standing in a hallway at a conferece, pumped on a train... This is why I need at least 6 mo maternity leave!!

  13. babypugs

    persimmon / 1101 posts

@Smurfette: Haha, those babies will be wishing they could still nap in twenty years or so! Hope you are having a good first day back. Pumping is so darn inconvenient.

  14. IRunForFun

    pomelo / 5509 posts

@Smurfette: It's hard to even determine how much mucus it is because it's so watery and slimy. Seems like a lot. No blood according to pedi.

Yeah I remember in college being like why didn't I nap more when I was younger, naps are awesome!! And I still think they're awesome!

  15. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@IRunForFun: oh the watery and slimy are the worse. I would go ahead and cut soy and see if that improves it. Or you can do the TED diet and then slowly add stuff back in.
@babypugs: DH and I say all the time we can't wait till they are 16 and want to sleep. Ha, we are going to wake them up at 5 for no reason as payback
@snowjewelz: I got 8ozs this morning. So that was two bottles for tomorrow. About to go pump again. She is going to eat at 4 but I am going to nurse her when we get home around 515 and then again before bed, 7:30-8:00, depending on her nap when we get home.

    @Smurfette: How'd it go today?

  17. IRunForFun

    pomelo / 5509 posts

I'm going insane here with the napping. DD has napped an hour and 45 minutes TOTAL all day. Her longest nap was 45 minutes and all the rest were under 25. I've tried it all - napping in my arms, in the crib unswaddled, in the crib swaddled with a pacifier, in bed with me. She just won't go to sleep or stay asleep. I'm so frustrated with DH because we finally got her sleeping in the crib at 4:45 and then he slammed a door and it woke her up. I'm out of ideas for getting her to sleep.

  18. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@IRunForFun: not bad. She ate great. Longest nap was 47 mins. Which is good for her sleeping by herself but I hate she didn't have at least one good nap. Teacher said if another child cried it would wake her up. I know she just has to adjust. But in the mean time, so hard seeing her so tired. Especially cause I know it means night time won't be good. The other teacher did say she was really strong.
I'm so sorry that you are having a tough day. I have had days like that. Will she nap in the car seat if you go drive? Or wear her?

  19. Peasinapod

    clementine / 770 posts

@IRunForFun: I agree with @Smurfette: if you haven't already tried it wearing her while you go for a walk or a stroller walk always work to get my lo to nap .

Also for the poops my lo has had pretty funky looking poops since birth and both my midwife and doctor said as long as she's gaining well and not unhappy to just not worry about it (unless there's blood of course).

  20. IRunForFun

    pomelo / 5509 posts

@Smurfette: Well I'm glad she ate well at least!! I hope your night doesn't go too badly. Death to the short nap!

@Smurfette: @Peasinapod: Unfortunately she doesn't like being worn and it's still too cold here for walks - we still have snow!! But if she fights naps again tomorrow I might have to do the car nap just to reset her sleep cycle. She did OK last night - almost 5 hours followed by 3 hours but was awake for an hour after every wake up.

@Peasinapod: Interesting on the poop! (Sentence I never thought I'd say.) I'm trying not to be concerned if the pedi isn't. Trying and failing, LOL.

  21. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Peasinapod: @IRunForFun: my pedi said she isn't very concerned with the mucous as long she is gaining and no blood. But I am still hoping with time it will go away.

Poor baby was nursing tonight, stopped, and just zoned out. She is so tired.

@IRunForFun: Do you have white noise on too? How long is she up between naps?

  24. babypugs

    persimmon / 1101 posts

@IRunForFun: Brr, I'm sorry! Just a note on being worn-- my baby fights like crazy for like 5/10 minutes then conks out. If you can stand the initial angry, it might be worth seeing if you can push baby wearing naps a little more. I don't know how we'd survive without them!

So this is crazy--DD slept 6 hours straight last night. I am shocked and super excited! Hope she keeps it up for when I go back to work next week!

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

    @babypugs: woot on sleep!

LO slept 8:30-4:30! I slept 9:30-4:00, so I feel amazing. I didn't really get back to sleep after I fed her, had to get up at 6, but at least I got a good stretch. I didn't even need my morning diet coke. I did feed her again before we left even though it had just been two hours. She must not have been really hungry but wanted to nurse, cause I am pretty sure most of it ended up back up on her and the couch. But at least I didn't have to change me as well.

  30. IRunForFun

    pomelo / 5509 posts

Someone send me some sleepy dust! DD's longest stretch was 8:50 to 12:45. And she still took almost an hour to go back to sleep after every wake up. She's only taken one 30 min nap so far today.

  31. sunnyday

I want sleepy dust!!! We are at every three hours on the nose through the night the last bit. I want my first stretch of the night back!!

We did pro pics this am!! B did great and I can't wait to see them! I have never had baby pics done before and just said screw it, do it!!

I'm tired. The last few nights, B has had me up 3-4 times, then the big kids and dog have combined for another 2 wakings for various reasons. Tomorrow my Mom is taking DS and I have a gf coming in the am with her baby and plan to NAP with B (hopefully!) in the afternoon. Oh what I would do for a nap.

  32. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@sunnyday: Yay for great pictures! I am tired too.. She only wakes me up twice I think; I just get up enough to shove a boob in...

@IRunForFun: It sucks when they're longest stretch is when you're not sleeping!

  33. IRunForFun

    pomelo / 5509 posts

    @sunnyday: Yes! I want a nap too!

@snowjewelz: Haha well I've been going to bed ridiculously early. Got in bed with her last night and I fell asleep around 9:30. Gotta do what you gotta do!

@Smurfette: yay for small victories like only having to change the baby 😀

Our twins usually sleep 7/8pm to midnight and then until 5am but it's enough to pop the pacifiers in and take them to bed with us and they will sleep until 6:30am. So it works pretty well. I have been able to nap for the last two days and it makes a world of a difference in my wellbeing, especially my mental state.

  35. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@IRunForFun: Like @babypugs: sometimes she fights the carrier. But if I pop the paci in and walk, pat her, she will settle down. Usually then she falls asleep. If that won't work, then drive down for an hour or so. Or could you walk the mall and she would sleep in the stroller?
@sunnyday: I love doing pictures. I'm sad we aren't doing all the ones we did with LO1(newborn, 4m, 8m, 12m, 18m) but two kids in day care we just can't afford it. So we won't do an professional again for her till her 1st bday.
Are things better with your DH?
@sunnyday: @Pumuckl: Naps are so awesome and really do a world of good for you physically and mentally!

  36. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@Smurfette: Same here. We DIY'd DD1's newborn pics, but we didn't even have time for that And for her 1st bday we'll probably all crash that shoot to get Christmas pictures done too lol!

Ugh she will still not take a paci from me but will take one from my mom and DH! She just wants boob with me! And I'm so bad at nap "training" her on the weekends. I just do wrap naps all day b/c I can't afford to be stuck putting her down since I want to spend time with my toddler too.

  37. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@snowjewelz: I would just try and just give her the boob when it is time to feed her.
It is so hard trying to do baby stuff and spend time with the older one. DH and I try and each be on one child duty. So he has to get her asleep while I play with the older one.

  38. IRunForFun

    pomelo / 5509 posts

Well my MIL is here today and I made a Target run after feeding DD. Got back and MIL was like "She's been sleeping in the crib since you've been gone." Which was an hour! And she stayed asleep another 20 mins after I got home. So maybe I just suck at putting her down!

  39. Peasinapod

@IRunForFun: awe. I don't even try to put S down other than at night, so don't feel badly!

@IRunForFun: babies!! Did she put her down asleep?
